Will Disney be able to keep up the pace?

Will Disney be able to keep up the pace?

Attached: DISNEY 2019.png (920x350, 632K)

it's sad when there's only 1 good movie in that entire pic you posted.

But Aladdin and Endgame are in that picture. That is two good movies.

The pace of making shit films? Probably.

Seeing people revolt over how soulless the endless list of cash-grabs has gotten is nice, but Disney's too big and infinitely rich for me to ever feel the true schadenfreude of them being forced to return to true creative form.

They've been doing it for the last 6 years there's no reason to think they would stop now unless you're some idiot from Yea Forums

I don't understand all the complaints about remakes? Disney was built on adaptations. Also, they are still making new animated films once or twice a year. Hell, thanks to the purchase of FOX Disney has three animated films coming out in the next 12 months.

That bullshit and you know it. They were already rich before and they found out mass producing soulless garbage sold well.

>I don't understand all the complaints about remakes?
Well when the remakes only exist to continue Disney's ownership of the IPs...

yikes

The problem with the remakes is that they're clearly inferior and have no reason to exist since the original adaptations are already timeless classics. Marvel films have more reason to exist than the live action remakes.

>Disney was built on adaptations.
adaption of someone else's stories. not of their own work.
it would be one thing if they went back to the original aladdin story or the original 101 dalmations book and interpreted it differently, but they're just remaking their own finished product

Quality is subjective. Personally I think Petes Dargon, Maleficient and Jungle Book's live-action remakes are better than the originals. Even Aladdin is fun if not quite as good as the original. So what if they exist, they don't remove the orignal's existence.

yeah, i do agree the 1992 classic is good. but the remake sucked

>petes dargon
lol

really though i forgot that one existed. disney should stick to remaking the obscure ones.

Captain Marvel is great but I'd say Endgame was also good too

That's not entirely true. The state of an IP's future affects your view on the original work. RE4 was praised but some criticisms are levied against it since RE5 and RE6 as ultimately condemning the franchise to action instead of horror.

Didn't say they weren't. Just that they're sitting at a peak where they've realized that they don't even have to try anymore to make their money back.

>Brie Larson
>Robert Downey, Jr.
>Will Smith
>Tom Hanks
>Donald Glover

I see Disney is employing a startegy or getting/keeping their connections woth both old movie stars and new ones. Clever, clever.

i wonder if disney has a list of actors they haven't used in marvel movies yet. they must be planning to have them all.

That will never happen as those are the ones that bomb, see Dumbo and Pete's Dragon. Meanwhile the ones that either have a big star in them like Aladdin or Maleficent (Will Smith, Angelina Jolie) or are based on more beloved films like Beauty and the Beast or Jungle Book do gangbusters. That I why you I predict Mulan will bomb as it has no big stars nor is it super beloved but the upcoming Little Mermaid will do great.

Let's see, who hasn't been in a major Disney film yet? Jackie Chan? No, he was in Around the World in 80 Days. Denzel Washington? No, he was in Remember the Titans. Bruce Willis? Nope, Armageddon. I guess Tom Cruise has yet to pray at the altar of Walt yet.

mulan was custom made for chinese market, they even took the songs out cause china doesn't like musicals. it'll make billions and the art of film will die a little more

Did China love the original Mulan?

Attached: jurassic-park-50.png (1440x900, 1.82M)

not sure. but i remember reading a book by the guy who designed mushu, who got interviewed by a chinese reporter. the reporter implied that she didn't think mulan looked beautiful, or even looked chinese.

Speaking of Jurassic Park, did ypu know that Universal only has the right to make 6 films on the franchise? That means that after the next film, the rights are up for grabs to the highest studio bidder. I wonder which studio will have the most money to put up the highest bid...

The market decides what is good not random individuals. The market has spoken thus far this year that Endgame, Aladdin and Captain Marvel are good. Case closed.

in years to come, people will scream 'why didn't you stop this?'

Attached: 1514115263329.jpg (500x334, 26K)

What's your favorite part of Captain Marvel?

Even the market who spent money on them don't like them.

You can't stop something that everyone loves.

Too lazy

>Aladdin Cinemascore: A
>Endgame Cinemascore: A+
>Captain Marvel Cinemascore: A

Do not confuse internet echo chambers with the general public. If the internet was correct, them both Captain Marvel and Aladdin would have bombed and Godzilla, Detective Pikachu and Shazam would have sold tickets like mad.

All those shit movies and not one of them have any lasting power.

The latter scene with the Supreme Intelligence

Based and redpilled

i like the internet then

What is even the big-dicking focus on sales anyway?
If a movie makes back its production cost, it is a success, regardless of what outsells it at the time of its release.

With two months of hindsight, you don;t have the experience to state that with any authority.

First of all, no business spends $100 milllion+ to just break even. Second, We're not sure if stuff like Pikachu and Godzilla "will" make back their cost to produce and promote yet. Neither set the world on fire like their Disney counterparts have.

>Cinemascore
literally who?

judging by the general forgotten status of the alice in wonderland remakes they did a while back, they won't hold up.

I like reading and watching about Civil War history because I like military history in general and the social and political impacts that it had in this country genuinely interesting, but this movie bored me to fucking tears, didn't help that the main characters were just unlikable twats that I simply couldn't get behind.

It's a reasonable indicator for audience reception for a movie and whether more people will be convinced to encourage others to watch and to rewatch.

Year to date Disney has made a hair under 1.6 billion domestic.
They have released 4 movies so far this year (Penguins doesn't count), I think it's a safe bet that while nothing will make as much as Endgame obviously, the overall gross of the next 5 movies should at least match the gross of Captain Marvel, Endgame, Dumbo and Aladdin. I mean they've got Toy story, Lion King, Maleficent, Frozen and Star Wars to go. Those aren't weak properties.... aside from Maleficent at least.

>sweeping blockbuster melodrama
>boring
stick to Captain Marvel

I don't see Aquaman at all in that picture.

movies were made for longer attention spans back then

Attached: 1547076542476.jpg (296x300, 26K)

Yes, boring with a capital 'B', Bitch.

aquaman isn't disney you carrot

I watched Gettysburg nearly five years ago and enjoyed nearly every minute of it, smoothbrain. The length of the movie has shit to do with keeping my attention.

The first Maleficent made 700 million. It might not be as weak as some think.

Movies were shit before 1950, excluding screwball comedies and musicals.

I'd say the only truly shit live-action adaptations so far have been Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.

Burton's Alice drew in a very particular audience, but it hit off very well with them. Maleficent and Jungle Book changed the story of the original animated films, and for the better I think. Cinderella was charming and was full of costume porn. Pete's Dragon did an obscure old film fairly well. Dumbo was a love it or hate it, but I liked that it had more of a story than the original.

I think the problem is when they try for a "similar to the original, but more souless" remake of the classic 90's films. Lion King is going to end up in the same trap. They should really stick to remaking the old films with modern narrative structures.

Fucking hit post before finishing my paragraph.

The content is what mattered, Gettysburg was mostly accurate to the events of the battle so that was already a plus for me. I even felt compelled to give half a shit about the characters of real life figures that I absolutely detest on various grounds, because they were still interesting enough for me to follow.

So when are we getting live action Frozen? My guess is 2035.

i guess hundreds of film crtics are wrong compared to mr. meme insult over here

Ah, the sweet lies of the anti-disney fags.

Those critics are making their on different criteria that has no bearing on what I think about the movie, I judged it based on my personal enjoyment and felt it was not worth my time watching it ever again. You don't need to justify your tastes just because some cinema snob said it was the greatest movie ever whilst you gargle their balls.

of constantly producing low-key soulless cash grabs by continually shitting all over the original material? maybe, their strategy seems to be buying everything in sight and then crapping all over it.

I mean, Dark Phoenix is technically theirs now.

Attached: 1532407070952.png (565x541, 157K)

Almost the exact same argument could be made for the worth of the Disney films in question. It's almost like the worth of a story or art is subjective or something.

As is the $100 million dollar car drama Ford vs. Ferrari. Fucking Fox, ruining a good run already. At least Spies in Disguise looks like it will be something kids might flock to.

>something kids might flock to.

You'll die for that pun.

>$100 million dollar car drama.

It's like they want to lose money. Expensive drama's never succeed these days.

Make an Aladdin sequel with Mirage.

Attached: rdeswdf.png (640x480, 244K)

That maybe true, but you have objectively shit taste. Your parents should have immediately given you up for adoption the moment they noticed that they were raising a retard.

>objectively

Come on, you don't believe that was the right word to ise, right? You are not that deluded, right?

Fuck Disney, I hate them and want them to die.

if it followed after king of thieves and not the shitty remake, i'd watch it.

So the part where Carol goes full sociopath and loses all inhibitions killing people she's thought of as friends for years?

Eh who knows how her life was really like with them. If the Kree had made the fact that she was partly human known to the populace, I can see them being just distant with her being a halfie, with only her teammates being "friends" but only on the capacity of being professional comrades.

So, see you at the Toy Story 4 premiere, yeah?

Is there any good place to watch Aladdin 2019/A relatively trusted Torrent?

The ending credits.
