Various dragons

Didn’t take pics of all the landscapes, but they were absolutely gorgeous. The exposition also had stories about how they spent 6 weeks in Norway to get a real feel of Berk.

Et voilà Yea Forumsmrades, this is it. I may be able to get an autograph from DeBlois, and/or ask questions next week during the Annecy Animation Festival.
I’ll post more at the time if you’re interested.

D'awww, they're adorable
Where was this exhibition, and why did you have to go before you were done?
Thanks for sharing these pictures!

Annecy, France.
[s]my baby girl was being wild, I’ll try to go back alone and get everything.

The best story was how they designed Toothless - the main animator was mesmerized by a coworker’s wallpaper/screensaver with a panther. The contrast of the green eyes/Black fur inspired him in the spot. Another story is that he taped a duct tape ball to his cat’s tail to study feline movements and copied them for Toothless.

Getting Solstheim vibes from these.

Oh, alright.
They were okay with taking photos? That's cool. I went to a local art museum a couple of days ago, but the guide said that taking photos of their stuff was forbidden. I still saw some other visitor taking a short videoclip with a cellphone, but didn't feel like breaking the rules myself and possibly getting in trouble over it.
Hope to see more pics if you get to go back there again. I'm especially curious about that 1:1 Toothless statue; that sounds like it'd be a neat thing to see.

No entrance fee, they really didn’t care. I’ll go back to enjoy the videos as well.

is noone troubled that they seem to be wearing dragon leather?

I was mildly concerned when I first saw the scales on their armor. But later I've understood they take fallen scales from their pet dragons and stick them on their clothes as armor, or maybe dragons shed their skin like lizards and they take the discarded skins. Look at everyone's armors in the third movie; they match their dragon.
Also, I think the dragon head on that one helmet is just a decorative thing for intimidation factor, and not actually a severed head from a dead dragon.

Is there anything from early development for the first?

Neat.
