what ever happened to that America Chavez comic?
What ever happened to that America Chavez comic?
I died many moons ago and they forgot it happened. Already hooked her up with yet another brown lesbian.
Cancelled.
It ran for longer than the much better "Nova" solo series being released around the same time, yet its cancellation numbers were (I believe) half the number that "Nova" was cancelled at.
It was always a stealth maxiseries and it ended at issue 12 like maxiseries do.
>This Is the guy who is going to do the interiors for the new WildCATS series
It died after making some of the most cringeworthy issues ever and now some of the people on the burning Marvel Inclusion Train are still trying to bring it back.
It isn't often I feel so much second hand embarrassment for an artist that I can't even look at a piece of their work. Yet, here we are.
>the baby leash
Every time
Not going to lie, I miss the America Storytimes.
They moved her to West Coast Avengers, and that romantic sitcom has crashed and burned too.
Even Gwenpool is getting her own solo back.
>being released around the same time
Nova was cancelled before America even launched.
I wish, but gwens is just a 5 issue miniseries.
So do I. A part of me wants to see it brought back as a direct continuation of Rivera's run, just by someone who can actually pull off light-hearted, gonzo superheroics.
Gonna have to cancel Mosaic there.
Nope. You may be thinking of the relaunch that "America" got at one point, though.
No. I want Marvel to keep Riviera on staff. Assigned to hyping all the new Marvel characters.
You know how there are potential futures in which Khamala is president? I want her writing Miss Marvel's political campaign.
Jesus, Ellis agreed to that? Maybe the inker will be a hero.
God, I can't handle how fucking ugly this coloring is. Terrible.
Seriously, I'm a 'sjw leftist' and I fucking hated every second of it.
The pencilling isn't terrible, the problem is that coloring and inking is raw dogshit. I mean, fucking look at it - the figure of Moon Girl in second panel looks like it's shrunk in photoshop because inker inked her in super-thin line for some reason. And the constant ill-fitting colored inks.
I'm like a pro-diversity leftist and shit, but I can't understand people who defend this comic. It's shit. You can make comics that have leftist politics and are good - Green Lantern/Green Arrow or God Loves, Man Kills spring to mind - but this is just fucking nonsense.
Worse of all, it tries to be lightheared fun, while ALSO constantly talking about shit like feminism, nazis or whatever. Feminism isn't a fun happy topic! "Women are twice more likely than men to be raped in their lifetime (rate is 20% for women and 10% for men)" is not a happy fun fact you can punch. If you want to make it lighthearted, you need to divorce it from reality because reality sucks.
You can't have a Diverse Hero punch Ridiculous Robot Gorilla into orbit, then turn aside to the audience and have them deliver monologue about sexual assault on university campuses. That's a complete tonal fucking whiplash.
the one guy that was buying a copy for all of us to roast stopped, so they canned it.
It's the difference between The Raccoons and Captain Planet basically.
It's the same reason they defend Ghostbusters 2016. If they admit that it sucks, then it alt-right "wins".
It got cancelled like all of marvels shitty books
Except the ones disney pays them to keep pushing for the sake of their movies
There's no such thing as a maxi series. That's just the cutoff for shit comics that don't sell.
>Looks like
You know that's exactly what happened.
Pic related is probably the only good thing about that entire travesty.
>You can't have a Diverse Hero punch Ridiculous Robot Gorilla into orbit, then turn aside to the audience and have them deliver monologue about sexual assault on university campuses.
Actually, you can, but then you have to be fully aware that you've got an intentionally jarring postmodernist take on the topic, your robot gorilla better be symbolic as fuck, and you better have a deal with some indie publisher because Marvel and DC would never approve that.
>They were so desperate for positive feedback they slapped this on the comic without reading between the lines.
Is this still Yea Forums's greatest accomplishment?
>If you want to make it lighthearted, you need to divorce it from reality because reality sucks.
Remember when Jack Kirby expressed his fear of Marvel being bought by a gigantic corporate entity by creating Galactus, an alien that literally eats planets? Good times.
Hopefully you also recoginzed the shit writing.
I'm pretty lefitst myself but if "Holy Menstruation" starts becoming a common term I'm buying a MAGA hat.
No, this was his fear of his wife being fucked by his boss.
He made that G look like a C for a reason.
How many threads are you going to attempt to make about this?
>The Purple dress girl’s iris is leaking out of her eye
What the fuck
It's the temple of her glasses. You can see the one on the other side. It's a poor art choice to make them black but that's what's up
>Nova only got seven issues
>America got twelve
It hurts bros.
In ran for the 12 issues the writer was contracted for and then was cancelled in April of 2018. People unaware it was cancelled would continue to post threads complaining about it for months and eventually we all realized that it wasn't a thing anymore and the writer wasn't hired to do anything else.
America chavez /ll/ with Moon girl?
They printed a letter by us
Do people still defend Ghostbusters 2016? I thought left and right came together to agree that it was just kind of mediocre and not worth feeling passionate about
>accomplishment
That's a lot like convincing a literally retarded child they can fly and then feeling proud about it when they leap off a balcony and end up in a hospital.
I'm pretty oblivious to art quality and I still hated it because of the writing.
>Even Gwenpool is getting her own solo back.
Written by another shitty writer so there's no hope for it.
>I'm like a pro-diversity leftist and shit, but I can't understand people who defend this comic.
It's defended largely by people who don't read comics and/or people who take the tribal "MUH POLITICS" stance above an actual good comic because you can't give the "other side" more fuel. I'm on the right but that doesn't mean I want to read shit like Meyer's stuff. If I'm reading superhero comics I want good fucking superhero comics, nothing more, nothing less. No way does Mark Russell agree with me politically but that didn't stop the Flintstones from being a good comic.
America Chavez could have been Jojo tier kino if the writing was better.
It got cancelled due to tonal whiplash and just horrible dialogue. If it can make Linkara even hate the left, then it's pretty bad.
"Cancelled." Which in this case is lettimg it run till 10-12 then calling it a mini series and ending it.
This is how they cancel failures when they are afraid to offend twitter warriors.
>not getting a MAGA hat and getting the alt-right to co-opt "Holy Menstruation" as their own
If they can convince people that clowns and the OK sign are racist, I'm sure they have a shot.
