So it's been a year since Man of Steel #1 came out and Bendis' stint at DC has started. How are you guys honestly feeling about it so far? Memes and circlejerk aside. I'm genuinely curious.
>Man of Steel Personally, I feel like it had a decently strong start, then got weaker and weaker as it went on. I'm pretty ambivalent about Rogal Zaar since he's not really better or worse than any other "GGRR I AM NEW VILLAIN WHO HATE YOU" character, but I'm still at a loss as to why Clark let Lois and Jon go with Jor-el, especially when they immediately went "what the fuck he's nuts why did they go with him" in Superman itself. Really hoping it'll get revealed that he fucked with their minds or something. Not a great start.
>Superman I could take it or leave it honestly. Already mentioned the start of the Jor-el thing, but otherwise it just doesn't feel any better or worse than most ongoings Just kinda bland, something for me to read every couple of weeks. It suffers from decompression the most out of his DC stuff so far imo.
>Action Comics Honestly? I'm genuinely liking it. The Insivile Mafia reminds me of Snyder's Court of Owls but "Superman finds out a mafia has formed around avoiding him in response to when he first emerged" is so much more compelling than "Batman finds out that yet another secret society has been controlling Gotham" and the Mafia has a the benefit of having faces and personalities as opposed to the Court's masked talking-in-circles-to-sound-mysterious shit.
It feels nice to see Jimmy and Lois taking part in shit again, and I'm honestly super curious to see if Bendis will genuinely try to take a dive into Superman history with The Car being in the IM's possession.
Over all it feels like the tightest thing he's written in such a fucking long, long time. It's not exactly Daredevil heights, but it's so much better than his recent Marvel work.
I'm genuinely letting myself get interested in Event Leviathan
>Naomi It's been a decent read so far. Nothing special. Still just kinda waiting to see where it goes, myself. I do appreciate the reveal that she's from another universe. It's clearly meant to be a bit of a Superman rip-off but works as a decent enough set-up and I'm glad that she's not adding baggage to any of the mainline heroes
>Young Justice >Pearl >The United States VS. Murer Haven't read these, just not interested in them personally, but I'm curious what other people think
So far while I definitely think some of his old weaknesses are showing in his DC stuff, I've enjoyed most of what I've read so far. Haven't outright hated most it like his previous recent work. Could turnaround at any time honestly but I'm starting to let myself hope that a change of pace has genuinely helped him improve. We'll have to keep waiting to see how it continues I suppose.
Mason Myers
It's been awful. Change just to change shit and hope he gets credit in future movies for money
Adrian Thomas
His Young Justice is pretty good but his Superman is terrible.
Bendis clearly hate Superman and just want to use it because of the spotlight, just like Slott this faggot only work on B-list tittles and with the least freedom possible.
Jace Jenkins
I hate everything about his Superman: Rogar; how he writes Lois; how he just sent Jon away for no good reason and worst of all the dialogue.
That said, I find his Young Justice bearable, but that's probably me being a characterfag over some of the characters in the book.
Elijah Moore
I stop reading Supes and AC when he arrived, I could probably start reading those again as soon as he lefts
Nolan Watson
>it had a decently strong start I thought you said "memes aside"? >Not a great start. You should really proofread your threads before you make them.
Brandon Garcia
The start to the mini itself was strong, but overall the mini as entirety was not a strong start to his DC work.
I'm so sorry that you lack reading comprehension and need to have thing spoonfed to you. It must be so hard having a brain that's the same size as your dick.
Jayden Phillips
So in other words they should have just given Bendis Action and left Tomasi on Superman.
Nicholas Bell
Young Justice is the best thing Bendis has written in years and is pretty good.
I don't like his Superman at all.
Leviathan Event seems interesting and could be good but its too early to tell.
Ian Garcia
Quit spamming those threads, he is even worse now than he was during Civil War II. If you are so eager to suck Bendis' cock put some black paint on your face and knock to his door.
"Memes aside" give me a fucking break.
Jaxson Phillips
Fucking gas yourself, Bendis shill.
Grayson Martin
>Young Justice is the best thing Bendis has written in years and is pretty good.
That is not saying much seeing how he hasn't been good in decades.
Landon Murphy
I hate what he's done to Jon with the age up and am boycotting the books until it's undone.
Cooper Lee
YJ is pretty cool.
Haven't really read his Superman, but I welcome Leviathan culling all the stupid extraneous secret organizations the New 52 had such a hard on for creating.
James Williams
YJ is pretty good and I like the ideas in Naomi but the pacing in that is terrible
the Leviathan one shot last week was pretty good too
Aiden Allen
Thank you for promoting actual discussion on this board
Lincoln Hill
This is a bit of an overreaction
Julian Brown
action comics is fucking boring. however, the pacing is fine. i like the Question in it, i want to see more of him in it. the dialogue is my biggest complaint, all characters except for a couple all have the same cadence and back and forth banter.
i havent read any superman comics and i just read action comics.
No problem. I was really curious because I was genuinely surprised to find myself enjoying some of the stuff so far. It's still nothing amazing and Superman could definitely use some improvement, but I'll take it for now. Honestly, yeah. Though Tomasi felt kinda bland to me too, I dunno. Superman and Batman both have the issue where a lot of their ongoings just kinda feel like filler to me.I think I did enjoy Tomasi's slightly more.
I could definitely have seen it working out with Superman still being family shenanigans where Action Comics has the more meaty Invisible Mafia/Leviathan plotline. They kinda did that with Jurgens' stuff I guess but it just never clicked for me. Yeah I find the ideas in Naomi great but as for actual writing I think it's just "Okay."
It's suffering from a fucking ton of big text dumps that drag it down. Hopefully now that we've seemed to have the exposition out of the way it'll improve, but I dunno. It's Bendis so I won't hold my breath. >pointing out i do think shit has problems so far >sucking his cock Ok.
Juan Gutierrez
>Young Justice so far it's not THAT bad but it's got it's benis moments. doesn't hold a candle to the original but it's still fun.
He's been good and as an architect he's looking better than King, Snyder or Johns right now
Ian Sullivan
>ITT: Bendisfags dickriding themselves to oblivion
Justin Martin
No.
Leo Cooper
I feel like only 10 pages of actual story has happened in that entire time. And maybe 1 hour in-universe time has passed since then.
Christopher Rivera
Maybe 2 days at the most. Since Rogol Zar showed up, got the Earth dropped into the Phantom Zone, Superson went to space, and Lois and Clark pretended to be spies.
And there was something about a red cloud lady but that came and went with no real event at all
Gabriel Parker
Fuck Bendis. That's my thoughts on his Superman
Benjamin Fisher
Yup Leviathan will easily be better than HiC, DC, and Metal
Adam Turner
If that first issue of Leviathan is any indication, the Bendis part will be weaker than Doomsday Clock and Metal but maybe better than Heroes in Crisis.
Jayden Howard
His Superman sucks but yeah, liking his AC. He works best when working street stuff
