ITT: Electric Black People

Whether they're heroes or villains, post as many as you can. Let's see how many there are in comics and cartoons. I'll start with Quick Charge, a more obscure choice.

Does Jakeem count?
Whatever happened to the guy? Did he show up in rebirth?

Do you think they are related?

Is he a bizarro version of static.

He was the first one

>her episode was one big chase scene

Pretty cool actually.

>Inb4 That's a magnetic asian!

Nah he's basically Jenny Sparks but African American and a man.

totally not racist

Is he the most on the nose Black Electric character? His Superhero name is literally Black Lightning.

Why is this trope so fucking common?

Attached: Volt.jpg (527x810, 115K)

guess which one has electric powers

Attached: mutants700.png (700x359, 136K)

Electric powers are extremely common.
How many White Electric guys are there?
I also remember a character that was called White Lightning.

Just Shazam and Electro, any others?

was she white?

Basically the same guy. Also his daughter Lightning doesn't count because powers via bloodline.

Chain Lightning, Mary Marvel, Livewire, Zeus, Cole MacGrath, Weather Wizard and literally tons of others.
Yes, she was also an impulse villain.

I don't understand why some fans get upset because some Black Superheroes have electric powers. Electronmagnetic energy is in everyone and everything.

The human body has inner sensors that communicates with the brain. This is how we perceive reality. Watch youtube video about how the brain hallucinate reality by Ted Talks.

Marvel's Daredevil is a good example. Because his vision is lost he uses other sensors in his body.

Sensors can not work without electricity.

Electromagnetism is a great power, but it's kind of overused for black superheroes.

>but it's kind of overused for black superheroes.

It isn't, really.

He's the OG. The reason why they had to make lots of other black electric superheroes when there were rights issues.

I liked how they gave her a skating gimmick. Gives her a little more flair than just having generic electric powers.

Sratic should be one of DCs flagship characters or at least starting that build up

>A Flex Fighters post
wow, people actually remember this egg paste of a show

Yet somehow it became a cliche for black superheroes?

Is there a black super hero with fire or celestial powers?

He stands out for using manhole covers in particularly hard fights

I thought she was asian-american

It's not, it's just confirmation bias after hearing it's really common but it's just an exaggaration.
Like If I were to say "What's up with all the Latino Fire Using characters?"
You've got Fire, Magma, Hotspot, That Inhuman guy, Firebird, Spectacular Spider-man made Molten Man a Latino, Robbie Reyes, El Diablo.
But that's from my Ass.
It's just that phenomenon where if you're told about a pattern or new thing you're more likely to notice it, even if it's not really more prevalent.

>Black Guys have Electricity
>White Guys have Radiation
>Asian Guys have Magic

Does it count when over half of those are literally just Black Lightning pastiches, atleast one of which was done because they legally couldn't use Black Lightning.

Fun fact: the melanin in your skin can conduct electricity popsci.com/eumelanin-conduct-electricity

Also wasn't Static meant to take inspiration from Black Lightning and Spider-Man?

So Black Lightning started the Black heroes with electric powers thing?

Wait, I think Storm came out first, right?
So was it Storm?

VA same bitch as Live Action Tank Girl

So no.

>over half of those are literally just Black Lightning pastiches, atleast one of which was done because they legally couldn't use Black Lightning.
I think we have found the answer to this mystery
/thread

She helps to the statistics, but she's beyond just electricity

Yeah, she does have weather powers not just electricity.
So it WAS Black Lightning after all?

Bullshit. Where's the video, user?

Does Kaldur'ahm Aqualad count? He doesn't use it often, but he uses eel-inspired magic, which includes electricity.

People count Miles and Storm, so yeah.

Thor

also, electric blue makes good contrast for black/brown

Agreed. Why they keep pushing the same characters as their leads is a mystery to me it. They're living in the past.

Latinos are hot blooded, therefore fire powers.

What's the census on black characters with other elements? Are there any ice guys?

Why did you post Asian gem instead of Garnet using her electric powers?

Frozone
Oya had Fire and Ice powers
I feel there's one guy I'm overlooking and I think he's DC.

For Blacks it goes Electric > Earth/Wind/Fire >>>> Ice

>Earth/Wind/Fire
funky

Friendly reminder that today is Static's anniversary.

lightning lad was a ginger. and the black guys on that team were a sonic voice guy and an invisible guy.

i'm happy for him

I'm surprised she doesn't come up more often when people get butthurt about the show.

Ahem.

Vanished with the rest of the JSA All Stars

>Name is Black Adam.
>Character is actually Middle-Eastern.
>Still has lightning powers.
Coincidence?

White people get fire powers, even in Static Shock

NI

GG

Atleast two of those aren't white.

Unfortunately, pic related counts.

90s JLA had Triumph, who has such a command of electrical current he could actually brainwash people.

Like all native american heroes have animal powers

Second most common for black heroes is power armor/super suit. Lots and lots of armored black guys in comics.

If DC is smart they'll make a static Shock movie. Black people will see it on principle.

Living Lightning was mexican
Bolt was white
Surge is Japanese

War Machine, Riri, and?
I feel like Injuns are more hokey spirtualism trappings and less straight up animal powers.
Make it 90s as fuck, that'll get the 90s Kids audience too.

>Second most common for black heroes is power armor/super suit. Lots and lots of armored black guys in comics.

There is a lot of this, if they are not armored then they are technology based
>Steel
>War Machine
>Iron Heart
>Hardware
>Night Thrasher
>Black Lightning, isn't superpowered it all comes from a suit he built
>Cyborg
>Black Panther
>Rocket, Icon's sidekick with the jetpack
>Deathlock
>Mr Terrific with the super suit and gadget belt
>Falcon
>Batwing

Bumblebee is also a technology based black superhero.

There are plenty of clichés and stereotypes that are pure exaggeration

>Yea Forums ignores the show so hard even the "hide Netflix" shitposter avoids the threads

Sad

Do you remember?

If it counts - the Flash. His symbol is lightning, speedforce powers have resembled lightning and he got his powers thanks to lightning.

Hell, one of the slogans attached to him us "ride the lightning"

flash is a white guy from missouri though

He was asking for white people with electricity powers.

aw fuck didn't read his post

I'm surprised they didn't get to work on it as soon as Marvel Announced Black Panther
