Magic circles are the worst magic meme ever

Magic circles are the worst magic meme ever.

They looks so fucking stupid and impractical to use.

Okay?
Why did this need a thread?

Thats because he is using them wrong. Probably because the director wanted to focus on the actor's faces rather than the battlefield or their feet.

ur gay

That's not a weapon, that's a sign to everybody with two brain cells you're channeling a spell and they should crack your skull in right now.

You didn't say weapon, OP.

Glad I'm not the only one who hates the "muh glowing rune circle" shit, wish folk would be more creative with magic these days.

Hermetic magick is just so much more visually appealing then wand waving or saying things backwards

Sparkles is more creative?

Nanoha franchise loves circles and is way cooler.

But the magic was the only good part of the Dr. Strange movie

If you could magically manipulate that much metal, why would you not just redirect the shell's course so that it misses you?
Seems a lot safer than risking having sword shrapnel tear through your body.

Pretty sure her magic lets her control her swords, not metal.

That seems oddly specific.

it's magic. It's literally a force to bullshit around real world logic and science to do cool fiction shit

So would it work on wooden swords? Plastic toy swords? Sharp lengths of metal with no grip? What if t was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, what if it was a heap of raw iron?

I think that as long as it is CONCEPTUALLY a sword, its fair game. Thats how this usually works in anime.

Its the same sort of magical rules lawyering that allows Emiya Shirou (who can make copies of any sword he has ever seen) to make clones of Tsubasa from Symphogear (who thinks of herself as a sword, to the point that she physically cannot harm an enemy who has magical protection from blades in specific until she has an emotional resolution where she stops thinking of herself as a sword anymore).

Technically, Shirou can dual-wield Tsubasas and as far as magic is concerned the math checks out.

That's why you have the meatshield distract them first. What, did you think party balance was a meme?

You use 'em as weaponized frisbees.

I love them conceptually. I just don't like the sparkler effect they added, makes 'em feel like cheap fireworks instead of a mystical construct of arcane force.

>magic
>practical

If they're sun discs they're good by me.

fireworks are synonymous with "land of the east" mystique. I like the application too, but I can see the "validity" of sparks.

Hellblazer's magic is the coolest because it actually requires ritual.

I like em. Rune circle magic is best visually as well

>Magic
>Practical
Pick one

This, what the fuck is that supposed to mean?
Magic circles are just a visual thing, how are they practical or impractical? And even if they were, impractical magic isn't a bad thing in itself, it can be pretty interesting.

>doesn’t understand the art of weaving magical energy
Oh child, you have so much to learn
