Is it all just heart attack shit?
no TV and no beer make Homer something ... something
Go crazy?
how would classic Simpsons jokes work if they were made today?
the monkey paw joke for example:
>Take this object, but beware it carries a terrible curse...
>D'oh!
>But it comes with a free Frogurt!
>yahooo!
>The Frogurt is also cursed.
>D'oh!
>But you get your choice of topping!
>yahooo!
>The toppings contains Potassium Benzoate..
>D'oh!
>how would classic Simpsons jokes work if they were made today?
probably like this:
>Take this object, but beware it carries a terrible curse...
>i'Ll TaKe YoUr EnTiRe StoCk, D'oh D'oh D'oh D'oh *Strangles bart*
Homer goes to College has some excellent visual humor that would not work in the new animation style.
THE BEE BIT MY BOTTOM NOW MY BOTTOM's BIG
the new Homer goes to College episode lacks of many things, humor mostly.
>they predicted the NPC meme with Homer's impersonation of a robot
Those HD backgrounds are shit. They don't even fit with the characters at all, it looks like something from a completely different show.
looks like fucking family guy. It is now easier to just do cellshaded 3d backgrounds
Just because you can doesn't mean you should or that it fits the art style at all.
didnt say or claim that its okay or justified. just saying that it is what it is
I’m surprised they did that, doesn’t Groeining famously hate off model exaggerated animation?
They used freelance guys to write Homer's Triple Bypass because none of the writers wanted to deal with a plot as dark as Homer having a heart attack (it was James L. Brooks's idea).
the agreement was one ep like this than 15 more anti trump leftiesh bullshit ep all centered around lisa
Is that why the show’s animation became more soulless?
Yes.
Iirc that animator recreated the original ten was asked to keep dumbing it down, the dust shake was done entirely by Koreans.
Why does Groening hate fluid and lively animation? It can look bad if it's overdone but I think early Simpsons did it just right. It was part of the charm. Now it's dead and soulless like he wanted I guess.
Wow, that sudden neck turn looks like something out of a horror movie.
The animation is stiff as a board to cut costs, since the voice actors' salaries take like 60% of the show's budget.
Why do voice actors get so much support and power in the US? The Mexican dub of The Simpsons replaced most of the VAs when they asked for more money.
It wasn't this way until the Simpsons cast set the trend of being the greediest motherfuckers unhung. Why do you think animated films increasingly use celebrities instead of professional VAs? They're all a mafia.
Because people will throw a shit fit if the voices are different, even if they do a good job at impersonating them.
I think it'd be super easy to replace some characters, there's YouTubers that do really spot on impersonations.
It's gonna happen eventually if FOX keeps milking it for the next decade, I wouldn't be surprised if main cast members start kicking the bucket soon.
Out of the main cast Julie Kavner is 100% going first
They went on strike in 06. Fox told them "We can find soundalikes at any college campus in America who will work for a quarter of your salaries."
Reminder Castellaneta, Azaria, and Shearer are the only ones who deserve more money than the rest of the cast, followed by Cartwright and Hayden
>followed by Cartwright
She donates most of her salary to Sc*entology, so how about not.
FOX has threatened to replace the VAs several times. Surprisingly they took a pay cut back in 2011 to keep the show going. I guess slightly less money is better than no money. I can't imagine anyone legitimately enjoying work on the show anymore.
Fine, I was really just going by sheer output. No one would watch The Simpsons in an empty Springfield.
>I can't imagine anyone legitimately enjoying work on the show anymore.
Nancy Cartwright seemed to be quite proud of the episode script she wrote recently.
It's not to cut costs, see
Yeah it is to cut costs. The stiffer and cleaner the animation is, the fewer times you need to go back and fix things, all of which adds to the tab.
This. Her last non-Simpsons role in film was in 2006 and her last non-Simpsons role in television was in 1999. She's pretty much retired outside this show.
AFAIK she said she stopped doing live acting because they never gave her the kind of roles she wanted. She wanted to play raunchy characters but they kept casting her as a goody-goody type.
Isn't that what she is more or less as Marge?
Yes and she says Patty & Selma are way more fun to voice than Marge.
How often do they appear in nuSimpsons anyway?
