He's basically a colossal robotic knight (and being a Transformer-scale city that's basically stood up, meaning he's fucking HUGE), which makes him a cut above the typical bestial/primitive Godzilla foe in terms of intelligence and tactical thinking. Plus he's bristling with firepower and has his own specialist crew to help him out, like conducting real-time repairs or running interference.
It's also worth nothing that Godzilla himself also has a home on Yea Forums, what with the cartoons and comics he's starred in over the years.

We had this conversation a few years ago. The answer was Spider-Man.
All other heroes fail. Magic, black holes, super strength, sending him to alternate dimensions, nukes, gravity altering and sonic weapons, throwing him into the sun... Godzilla shrugs those off like gentle summer rain. The few things which will hurt him (i.e. adamantium claws) will be just as useless due to regeneration abilities which make Logan blush. Hulk, Stange, Thor, Iron Man - all will be useless or a minor distraction at best. Every gamma based hero will also quickly get drained and further empower Big G.
But what are the things that Godzilla can be stopped by? Mothra's silk and giant robots. Spider-Man has his webs and, if we're going full ham, Leopardon. You know what else stops or slows Godzilla? Masers and cold. This means that Firestar and Iceman, aka Spider-Man's amazing friends, will be great for support. Spidey is our best shot at this and the best option for a cool crossover.

Have you ever read a comic in your life? Especially any silver age ones, which were being published at the same time as cheesy Showa era Godzilla movies? They rarely make sense and make shit up as they go, but nothing about making better webs based on Mothra's silk goes againstnallt he crazy things we constantly see happen in Godzilla movies. Try having fun sometimes, it won't kill you.
I am also pretty shure that while Mothra is a somewhat magical Kaiju, things that come out of her butt are definitely not supernatural in nature.

While I agree on the "bigger threat" theory, the contract is currently flexible. Basically they've confirmed that if KotM and GvK do well enough, Legendary can keep using Godzilla. Probably depends on how successful, and obviously that doesn't necessarily more or less monsters from Toho they already have.

My favorite part about the scene is that for most of it, there's barely any music, just this low ambient hum, mixed with the low whispers of a choir. Helps a lot in giving the feeling of being trapped in a claustrophobic place.
