GET IN HERE BROS
dcuniverse.com
30 MINUTES UNTIL SWAMP THING LAUNCHES
Why isn't Abby's hair white?
RELEASE DC UNIVERSE OUTSIDE THE STATES ALREADY
FUCK
>paying for dc shit
nah, i'm gonna wait for torrent
user, just be a pirate
MEGA
im scared bros, swamp thing is my favorite
its gonna be kino right?
so this green monster gonna fuck sophia falcone? sounds hot
They can't afford to finish their seasons do you really think DC can afford to laugh outside the US?
Warner Bros are fucking retarded. They should just released the shows on Netflix and made the DC universe app just comics.
This
Fuck DC
more like SJW Thing
why bother when they're just going to pack their shit and leave netflix the moment their service gets started?
Their service is going to flop kek. Unless they combine HBO with Warnerbros and keep it at $15, there’s no way people are going to buy it for more than that, let alone the service by itself.
>Why isn't Abby white?
Netflix and HBO Go carries their dreck internationally
Damn, mouse cucks working overtime.
7 MINUTES BOYS
No one cares DCuck
Even your fucking MEGAnon dipshit doesn't care
Working hard for those Disney dollars. You know you can just spend real money at the parks, right?
I don’t care about companies moron. It’s just a fact that Disney will dethrone WarnerMedia and possibly Netflix in the service wars because of normies. Pretty sure every normie knows pixar, Disney, and marvel movies more than they do Warner Bros movies.
HOLY SHIT THAT NIGGA GOT IMPALED ON A TREE
>I don't care about companies btw have you checked out that latest Alladin movie? That Disney + sure will be something. 5 a month AND Hulu. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some deleted scenes of Captain Marvel to catch up on.
you can't dethrone WarnerMedia because WarnerMedia will never have the throne
expect doom patrol style intro
they took notes!!
>tfw I live near the fucking Bayou
>tfw I know exactly the kind of people that go dynamite fishing in the fucking swamps
you ever gator hunted?
10 minutes and no torrent? pathetic
Never hunted, but I took the swamp tours. It's kinda fun actually
Grilled gator tastes pretty good
Megafag said hed only do it if he liked the show
You're not getting one because no one cares. At best you might get one tomorrow with shit quality and Arabic subtitles like Fuck Batman.
>10 minutes in and theres already a homosexual
found him
Don't you have non-marvel movies to bitch about for not having post-credit sequences or something?
I'm gonna be straight up: do not like Abby bring a "serious" protagonist. I understand making her a CDC doctor was a practical choice but it's still weird.
>Alec keep making 80s references
Ray Wise cameo when
This is definitely more "based on" than Doom Patrol was.
I can see it being something done for FOX or whatever. Not bad so far though, but more its own thing than a faithful adaptation in any proper sense.
>that tentacle corpse
it seems like they're going to make alan protagonist as the show goes on but we're introduced trough abby's eyes
>we want The Thing audience
I don't see that.
I think we're going to get Alan/Swampy as a side character that introduces MC Abby into this greater world.
Get yourself a VPN
Eh it could crash and burn horribly and it would Still be better than the Man Thing show/movie.
blonde lady is a cunt
I'm fucking psyched. It looks cool and creepy and I wa a see Swampy just fucking demolish some shit zombies. Plus the trailer showed off Blue Devil's mask so I'm interested to see who else shows up
Abby probably was responsible for whatever happened to her daughter, or at least both parties feel that way
her husband is being played to be the antagonist. it's going to be interesting for sure
>dog is shown off
NO DONT LET THE PLANTS HURT THE DOGGO
>Alec is a disgraced biologist
>Abby was responsible for the death of Sunderland's daughter
Ah I see, it's the good ol' theme of second chances
>Alec gets fucking shot and blown up
Abby takes the doggo?
Where’s the Mega tards?
yes
also F
OH SHIT WE /murdermystery/ up in here now
So many jump scares holy shit.
the plot of this show would be a good origin for poison ivy desu
it's not that bad senpai
Swampy's live action suit looks pretty good in motion
We need MEGA FAGS
you're not getting one so stop fucking whining
Will Meganon bless us with his existence again?
no
yeah. i think how good this show is going to depend on swamp thing himself
But what if he DOES like it?
Does Matt show up in the first episode? I need an excuse to make bird puns with zero context.
Nope
Yupp
>we want men of high taste
I seem be getting conflicting information.
Maybe?
ask again later
what the fuck, that's today? holy shit, I'm at work and thought my friday would be boring as fuck. based WB
Cable shows up for a few minutes, he's the black cop that goes into the house with Abby
>black
Ah, so they combined him with his Sandman version then.
I love WB and their slate of movies and shows but you're completely right. normies love Disney. hell, I love 90s Disney myself, it's just that I hate literally almost everything they have done since acquiring Marvel
Just finished. Pretty okay pilot desu.
Okay. Carrion then.
that's because 90's disney had to still try
It for sure is in the middle between doom and titans
i would say this who season could go either way, depending on what happens since this episode didn't even establish the swamp thing yet
I really hope they don't do the Moore twist of "not really Alec but plant all along" bullshit.
Alec was kinda adorable and it would be a shame to do that, it would be a waste.
Finally someone says it
So I breezed through Moore's run ages ago and really, really enjoyed it. Picked back up with Veitch not long ago and so far it's pretty damn good too. And with the tv series coming out I recently jumped on Snyder's New 52 run and Wein's original comics to get familiar with iterations I wasn't before. So I'm reading three runs simultaneously at the moment pretty much. The takes all feel pretty unique I'll say. Any comic readers in here? I know it's new Yea Forums so the answer is probably I've only seen the movies, but what iteration does it feel the most like? Is it a hodgepodge like most shows? Or does it have it's leanings? Is it just mainly inspired and ultimately original? I'll get around to watching the episode tonight, probably late, if only for the added atmosphere.
It's mainly taking the concept and forming it into a standard drama. A lot of the supernatural elements feel like they could be The Rot or something more than that. Nothing "Moore" yet. Alec isn't even dead when he transformed even.
Feels pretty unique as a take on the property, but also just a standard drama.
Thanks for the reply. About what I figured. Sounds like something I can deal with. Hopefully, this thread survives and maybe I'll give my opinion later.
Alec and his body have been separated before.
Meganon please help us
Swamp.Thing.2019.S01E01.Pilot.1080p.DCU.WEBRip.AAC2.0.H264-NTb
about fucking time
The other two DC live action shows really dig into the comics at some points. We'll see elements of all good runs, calling it now
The less Moore the better desu
>Alec gets cucked by a literal plant
lmao
That was pretty good
Fuck that, plant Swampy > really human swampy
Even if I did like Alec a lot.
Also Abby is super fucking cute, I didn't expect that since I always thought she was meh in the comics
Better then Matt in the comics who gets both cucked and turned into a bird
If anything let's do something like what Scott Snyder did where the distinction between the consciousness of both is negligible.
I hope we actually get to follow Swampy's point of view and he's not just a background character
I don't think he'll be a background character, that suit is too well made and detailed for that, but I do think he'll be a side character.
>but I do think he'll be a side character.
Bleh, it's expected but i'll be sad. Though the preview has him up front and center so maybe we'll get some stuff after all?
I know it's a lot harder to really do his thoughts in live-action without cheesy voice overs, which is a shame
>not living free
Take a look at this landlubber, boys!
So is it good? I can't watch it right now
I liked it, the true test will be ho w they handle Swamp Thing and blue devil I guess
why didn't they give Swamp Thing a movie?
They did. They sucked. Same with the cartoon, other than that super inspired theme song.
Swamp Thing is too complex to squeeze intotwo or three hours, at least if you want to do him any sort of justice.
I just hope he gets a few seasons of this show, at the very least I want Arcane to pop up at some point
I will give Dick Durock credit though. He was a champ.
Trailer seemed to imply the Rot bringing unbalance. Hard to have the Rot with no Arcane.
The actual show makes it clear that it's the green going out of control. If I had to guess it's Woodrue but if he appeared in the pilot then I completely missed it
Yeah they show Woodrue in the trailer
Still I was hoping the zombish people in it were a Rot thing.
Maybe, the uhh plant corpse thing was clearly looking around so it wouldn't surprise me if it was somehow a mix of both? I don't know yet.
Can someone explain the rot and the green to me?
I liked it, but I have been told I have low standards
The Green is the sum total of all plant life on earth. Swampy oversees and protects this
The Red is the same thing but for living animals. Animal Man is in charge of this and does some wacky ass shit with it.
The Rot is in charge of basically making sure everything dies and is recycled.
There are other things like the Grey (fungus) and The Metal (robots and AIs) but they aren't as important, well at least not new 52 Swampy. The grey was the big rival of the green in the 8os run
In the DC universe there's qausi-magical elemental planes that tie together and enable various aspects of life on the planet (and other planets). Each one selects an avatar to imbue with it's power and make sure all things of the natural world proceed as they should. Each has a parliament in charge of this selection process, who are actually just former avatars who've been absorbed into their aspect after the end of their service
The Green ties together plant life and Swampy is (usually) the avatar
The Red ties together all animal life and Animal Man is the avatar (thought it's actually his daughter and he's more the appointed regent)
The Black/Rot ties together all death and decay and they usually have a psychopath named Anton Arcane who wants to fuck up everything up.
Other heroes are more loosely tied to the various powers, like Vixen to the Red (and Beastboy briefly so), Poison Ivy to the Green, etc.
It is also worth noting the Parliaments have a strong tendency towards assholery, often trying to grab power and dominate the planet if not kept in check by the others. The Black picked Arcane mainly for that reason then started realizing he's too crazy even for them. The Green often pushes Swampy to be more Green and wreck all animal life, but being an animal himself except when he isn't he tends to refuse.
Thanks
Kinda unrelated but I never liked that the black was a thing. Doesn't really make sense since it's not actually a living thing like the Green or the Red or any of the other parliaments / whatevers.
At the grey being a rival of the green made sense
How does the grey work?
Infects and takes over the green
I thought it was ok. The girl is cute and it has good atmosphere so I'll keep watching. Haven't read much Swamp Thing so I don't have any expectations though.
But what does it do if it's connected to tech?
Hmm? The grey isn't technology, it's fungus
My bad
It's fine, there are tec based lifeforms later on in Swampy's new 52 run but I don't really remember it very well. All I can really recall is that he BTFO them out and basically trapped them inside a small robot dog and told them that he'd spare them since they were new and young but that they shouldn't try their shit again
What are the best runs if you're intetested in the green/grey/rot lore?
Will he appear??
Personally I read literally everything Swampy has and enjoyed it all through out (though the 2000s runs aren't as good and are basically ignored once everything reboots) but if you only care about the lore then Moore's run is where the green is introduced and I think later the grey. The red was a big thing in Animal Man but Swamp Thing and him never really interacted until the new 52 which is where things like the Black / rot come from.
Sorry, I was still fairly new to comics when I first read Swamp Thing so I wasn't really paying attention to where runs began and ended. I sorta just read everything that has his name on it
Season 2 I hope, as far as I know he's not suppose to appear in 1
I mean a new movie. It could've been Oscarbait directed by Ang Lee or Del Toro or whomever.
>Swamp Thing is too complex to squeeze intotwo or three hours, at least if you want to do him any sort of justice.
but is TV better? Budgets are limited.
>but is TV better? Budgets are limited.
TV gives you a long longer to develop stuff but yeah, budgets are an issue. Honestly i'm shocked that Swamp Thing is getting ANY sort of non-comic adaption. In a perfect world he'd get an adult cartoon that would just be a straight up adaption of the comics but alas we lived in a flawed and sinful world
The new 52 run under Snyder/Soule involves a lot of it in a fairly pulpy/cape comics format. Moore's saga of the swamp thing delves into it but in an exceedingly psychedelic/philosophical way. Good reading, just not as easy to digest. I'd suggest the former if you just want to familiarize yourself with everything quickly, but the latter if you want to really sink your teeth into it.
There are like four shows competing for air in this swamp, and right now, only one of them is interesting.
This is just DCs attempt at Stranger Things.
Is the Swamp thing show from the 90's any good?
youtube.com
>and I think later the grey.
The Grey was Doug Wheeler's terrible and confusing run.
It was also different compared to the later fungus stuff (literally an alien life that infected Earth)
It has a few standout moments, but it's mostly really bad. Swamp Thing mostly acts as a "magical best friend" to a bunch of other characters, skulks on the sidelines and gets 5 minutes of screen time on a good episode.
Glad it looks like we're getting pure plant Swampy rather than Alec's corpse inside him. Sticking Alec back in there after Moore's retcon always struck me as lazy writing.
With Moore's version of the character he can't be placed in physical peril because you can't fight him, he's unstoppable as long as plant life exists on Earth. Requires more creative threats.
With Alec inside the corpse is a weakpoint, and so writers can go "okay guys, this new bad guy is really, really strong and is going to hit him super hard and might destroy the corpse". Allows them to up the stakes just by having something physically more powerful than him, which is lame.
Man, they didn't waste a single second establishing that the Asian guy was gay, did they?
They mentioned it at all? I legit didn't notice
so are they badly ripping off another moore thing
>In a perfect world he'd get an adult cartoon that would just be a straight up adaption of the comics but alas we lived in a flawed and sinful world
an anime would be good for Swamp Thing
I dig it so far.
I doubt it happens and I don't even think it would fit but it would be neat if Doom Patrol made a cameo simply because I realized that they've appeared in some form or another on every other DC streaming show so far.
Any news on when the streaming platform will be available on PS4? That’s honestly the only thing that’s keeping me from signing up. I can afford seven bucks, but not a new device.
Just get a chromecast
Oh you delicate little flower.
He makes a brief reference to wanting some man ass in the beginning. It's easily missed/ignored if you arn't a closeted homosex obsessed with spotting it like the dude you replied to is.
I could see the Chief being called in maybe but I doubt it.
well this was awful, visually it's good the horror elements are goodish, but the acting, the editing, the writing, it's extremely bad like this could have been on CW bad.
>it's extremely bad like this could have been on CW bad
not even fucking close.
the costume design was good, the effects outside of the intro are pretty decent, and the acting is still leagues above CW
CW is on the level of cheap day time soaps in terms of quality
>inb4 it never is mentioned again with his character but Yea Forums will hate it cause it was mentioned that one time
>forced drama
>one hangout
>bad writing
>bad quips
>bad jokes
>da lab
it's CW tier with extra money to make it pretty
>forced drama
It's character backgrounding, except you mean something other than Abby's backstory because then I have no idea what you mean
>one hangout
Not immediately bad at all. Serves to have a hub in a small town setting
>bad writing/quips/jokes
All seemed fine to me
>da lab
Da fuck?
The lady's screams were impressive.
Interlude where the mean woman shows up and makes the lady cry felt extracurricular and jarring.
Those gunshots were brutal.
If you guys liked Swamp Thing I would recommend reading the Dogs Days of Summer one shot comic book that came out this week.
>Marais was actually the set for the Congo movie Rita starred it
I think he meant how the core characters have one place they congregate in, like how Legends have the Waverider, Flash has STAR Labs, Arrow has whatever, and Supergirl has the DEO.
user's point doesn't even make sense because it's literally the first episode and they actually use the lab for laboratory purposes.
i'm getting some The Thing vibes from this.
no it really isn't it's just set up love drama, set up friend drama, set up town drama, set up mystery drama, set up medical drama, set up dying little girl drama, set up swamp drama, set up super science drama, etc. It all felt forced and compressed as all fuck, there was no need to introduce an antagonist in the first episode the gunshots would have been fine there was no need for the friend backstory the flashbacks were enough, flesh that shit out later there's no hook if you do it all in the first episode. Swampy isn't the hook he's in the fucking title we know Swamp Thing will be in the damn show.
One hangout is never done correctly, it always serves as a place for characters to sit and talk face to face to extrapolate whatever dumb shit is going on when a phone would work better.
writing is subjective if you like it fine but it isn't good
every CW show has a magic lab where they do magic science shit for their episodic formulaic mystery boxes expect that to return.
Stillllllllll waiting on that mega.
Any word on whether Con job is gonna be in this?
Didn't Alec-Swampy end up giving up his body after accepting his role, so he's basically the same as Moore's again?
Kinda. Maybe.
It's implied that a part of Alec and Abby are at peace.
oh shit, yeah he could couldn't he, since hes in that Legends - we'd actually get darker constantine back too, I think
So is it worth watching?
season is over on legends he might not come back
It's like a decent FOX show right now.
So for your tolerance of that, it's aight.
So far, I think so, but its all riding on how good episode 2 is really
Thanks, I'll give it a try. Titans was trash but Doom Patrol was great. I heard the last 3 episodes of this were slashed so I hope it doesn't go to shit
General consensus from the people in this thread that watched it is that seems to be between Titans and DP in terms of quality, but it;s unclear how good it will be going forward.
I thought it was fucking great
Production on point, good acting
Reminds me a bit of The Strain when it was good
I wasn't expecting lisergic Moore stuff so I'm not disappointed, even though weirder stuff will probably happen since it's got Xanadu and apparently Blue Devil
I wasn't expecting Xanadu at all, it's a pretty wild pull
Expect some anger though, because she's black in this.
I personally don't like that because I loved the Wagner run and a chunk of it was about being able to blend into western european countries, but I am interested in seeing what they adapt.
she's black because the swamp witch was black in pirates of the carribean so now all swamp witches have to be black, it's a dumb precedent but whatever it doesn't change much
Yeah? I might just. Same vein then?
>its gonna be kino right?
The effects were a bit cheap, desu.
...
Plant Swampy is good because Alec gets to go to the afterlife with his wife
Neat
?
There’s charm in that.
Not quite enough
Not bad for the 90s.
I swear every ep I happen to catch he was hiding behind a tree chatting to a kid. Real lively stuff.
The pilot gave me Lost and Heroes vibes.
That just means we're heading for disappointment, user
Jesus fucking Christ
It would be a crime if they introduced the occult element with Xanadu and never capitalized it with Constantine at some point.
based megabro
What a petty and nonsensical compliant
This trustworthy? I miss old meganon...
Didn't like loud noises and fast-paced plot. Man, I hate modern horrors. But overall a good start. Abby and Alec are great, "The Thing"-esque bodyhorror is also great.
I guess Swampy can revert back, because we saw more of Alec in promo material?
yeah it's fine
just downloaded it, its grand user
But does it make your heart sing?
Can confirm it's one of those lock out virus, don't touch it
I want to know if we're getting white-haired Abby.
White-haired girls are my fetish
she'll probably get a white streak(s) in her hair at most
her actress would look good with white hair though, dunno why they didn't just go with it
lrn2torrent
Does this show take the science and chemicals make youba freak method or the magic and avatar of the green method to Swamp Thing?
Meh, if you have nothing else to watch
Would’ve been decent if the soundtrack stfu once in a while
So far the science and chemicals but the chemicals are basically magic so it could very well end up being the later at some point.
The Parliament at the very least had originally been planned to appear before the eps were cut short, so Swampy is an avatar of the green even if he doesn't find out by the end of this season.
Actually pretty neat
DC shit is never worth watching
Any webm requests?
>Titans was trash
>tfw I unironically like the Titans
I'm in the same boat, never quite got the rabid hate for it though i'm also not attached to Starfire who I can understand people being upset about (not cause shes black though but because she was so fucking murder happy it was actually pretty funny)
i love titans but hated the show
i cant even quite put my finger on why i dislike it so much
the characters jsut feel flat and badly written
sucks man i was really looking foward to hawk and dove............
I watched it with super low expectations so i ended up liking the Titans
this
I expected it to be a cluster fuck and it just was okay, so i ended up liking it
Just watched it. Pretty good start, hope it only gets better from here.
Hawk and Dove were one of the few things I genuinely enjoyed about the show. For me the show went from lame to unintentionally hilarious about halfway through.
I would love that
If they don't have John show up in some regards, they could maybe do a flash back explaining Xanadu and show Kon-Sten-Tyn (I hope that he does, I don't even care if they use Matt Ryan, I just want more Constantine)
anything from this scene
So we all agree that plant zombie thing was totally 100% alive and self-aware and was being controlled by something, right?
I dunno, it's still too early to tell
I'm mostly going off the way it was clearly looking around and such.
Why no Anton Arcane this season?
other user here, I made this one
and these
so swamp thing is racist?
good thing i can cancel my sub before it charges me for another month
I thought I was gonna hate this guy as Alec but he was charismatic as fuck and now I hope he appears more
if they have Xanadu they have to have Constantine
like Flashbacks?
Christ that was gross as fuck when it suddenly happened
I thought it was good enough to be a movie
>5 fucking minutes into the show
>just took off clean suit in a plague zone
>”HOW ABOUT FINDING US BOTH SOME BOYFRIENDS HUR DUR”
I’m not complaining that he’s forced diversity (though he absolutely is). I’m more complaining that I can literally see in my head the note from the producers saying, “Quick, establish that this chick is single and a potential love interest. Those mongoloids who watch this comic shit will assume they’re fucking otherwise.”
Right? Can we just have a season Alec Holland: Adorable Plant Biologist?
Wait a second. Woodrue is played by Kevin Motherfuckin Durand?
>>just took off clean suit in a plague zone
>>”HOW ABOUT FINDING US BOTH SOME BOYFRIENDS HUR DUR”
I found the violation of safety protocol so annoying that I missed the who gay dialogue part
Swamp Thing doesn't exist yet
John Glover as Jason Woodrue was one of the only good things in Batman & Robin.
I watched this film multiple times and I don't even remember this character.
He’s one of the only things I remember from it. He was Ivy’s lab assistant.
>multiple times
Have you considered that your brain is trying to protect you, and that you may have accidentally given yourself brain damage?
What's the verdict, Yea Forumsmrades? Is it good?
I fucking loved it and I’m one of those weirdos that watches at least five horror movies a week. Not just good television but really fucking solid horror. All of the comparisons to The Thing are absolutely earned.
Yes, however it's hard to judge a series after just one episode.
FalCONES
>so swamp thing is racist?
There were three dudes on the boat, dingus. A white dude died first, and black dude died second, and the third white dude managed to stagger back home before he died after infecting his daughter.
It's the third dude ( second cracker ) who was on the slab:
getting a jennifer tilly vibe
fucking minutes into the show
>>just took off clean suit in a plague zone
>I found the violation of safety protocol so annoying
And then she follows that up by saying everyone in the hospital should be wearing gloves, masks, and GOGGLES because CAREGIVERS DON'T GET INFECTED ON HER WATCH!
30 seconds later she walks into the infected little girl's room w/o goggles on.
Very next scene she goes to the house looking for the infected little girl's father ... wears gloves, no mask.
Then performs an autopsy on the father's cadaver, again, w/o mask or goggles even though he's only been "dead" a day or two and is literally referred to as "Patient Zero."
>I'm very good at my job
No, no. I'm sorry, but NO. You're smokin' hot, sure, but you you're about as good at your job as you apparently were at being a BFF in High School, Abs.
>this show about a plant god with the mind of a human isn't very realistic
They literally have Abby The Science Chick tell everyone in the ER to WEAR GOGGLES ... then she walks into the room of an infected patent W/O GOGGLES, you double nigger!
If they hadn't explicitly mentioned GOGGLES in the fucking DIALOG of the show about a Plant God 90% of the viewers wouldn't have even thought of it ( it's not like most cop shows even bother with a fucking MASK and we already knew going in people were being murdered by Killer Plants ).
>the show in which plants are shown to have a consciousness, and where they can grow in such a way and so quickly that they can impale a person, isn’t realistic
>the show that mentions goggles doesn't bother to use goggles 30 seconds later
This is why you fail.
>the show that doesn’t try to conform to reality should conform to reality
Truth. Swamp Thing is classic horror, Moore’s bullshit completely misses the point by trying to be all deep and introspective.
I don't care about little autistic fits or getting assbent on minor shit. I hope when I watch it it at least has the tone I want in a ST production. Probably gonna watch it tonight
Yeah, you can get much better programming on HULU brought to you by Disney! Don’t waste your time with inferior competing services, only HULU can bring you great shows inspired by instant classics like Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy 2!
not him, but is this safe or not?
It’s safe
Just get it from Pirate bay
>so swamp thing is racist?
>Swamp Thing
Imagine being this ignorant
I was just fucking around about the lock out thing, I paid for the service so I didn't even download it
just watched it, and it's pretty good but it's relying on too many of the normal horror tropes, it's lost a lot of what made the comic creative. Maybe I've been spoiled by the creative tv that has been coming out lately, but stuff like Legion, Doom Patrol, and Good Omens are just over all way more unique in how they are telling a story. This just comes off as another basic horror show with nothing new to offer.
that goggles shit bugged me a ton too. Just cut the line if you don't want her to wear goggles, instead it just makes them look like they don't know what they are doing.
GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY! I SAYS, I SAYS THERE BE DEM SPOOKS IN DA WATER! SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.........
Now show the clip where he pulls off his dick and gives it to the man-faced woman to take a bite out of.
I think it was a poor attempt to show how selfless and caring she is.
Why does he look like an young actor wearing old man makeup?
Oh shit, it's the guy from The Mothman Prophecies
That's what I read out of it too, esp the first scene. Diffusing the situation with a gentle hand, abandoning protocol to do so, and being less scary to younger patients. There's a touch of recklessness to her but I think they were trying to show she has a heart, empathy for her patients. It didn't bother me all that much. It wasnt amazing either but I got it.
at least no one here is complaining that the show "disrespected the 80s with that line about columbo and murder she wrote" like Yea Forums is doing right now
>swamp thing is racist?
yes, he hates non-green people
Just finished it and gotta say I really enjoyed it. It more than met my expectations. Alec is pretty damn likeable. A bit of a rascally fella. The horror was to my liking, with nice Thing vibes esp in that hospital sequence. I like the look and feel of the town and swamp. ST looked dope and I'll admit I audibly cheered when he rose from the muck. For me it was a fine start.
Is there a preview anywhere for next week's episode?
Meant for
is Yea Forums ever not complaining about stuff? I can't imagine they liked DP
I'm starting to believe it really did cost 10 million per episode
yeah, totally fucked their selves by going over budget.
but james wan has enough clout to not make the series get the shaft
specially because I think this one is gonna be the most popular yet
>Mfw the actor who played Alec was kind of cute and now I'm sad that we won't see him again.
I actually enjoyed the pilot especially how gory it got.
>he'll also be in IT 2
>as the jew who kills himself at the start of the movie
I think this is a strong indicator that they will follow Moore's "Swamp Thing just thinks he's Alec" concept
or maybe not
for this particular iteration I think being Alec would be better
>First it was Mary in Shazam
>Soon it will be Abby
DC getting into the tentacle rape fetish now?
OH GOD DAMN IT IT'S NOT FAIR.
>actor's name is Andy Bean
Bean you say?
i think it will be both?
i never read moore's run but if i remember right in brightest day Alec came back to life and swamp thing went crazy because alec was controlling swamp thing. It seems like the plants listened to swamp thing at the end there
Any relation to Sean because that'd explain some things
No, just a funny coincidence
Put this theme on the new opening.
>audience should ignore what was established by the MC
Ok bub
they added makeup to make the mole look realistic and display the color evenly with rest of the face
I always liked the idea that Alec's mind was controlling Swamp Thing. Seems like that is what the show is going with based on the vines going into his brain.
So he hates all people?
Sounds like he is a fucking HUMANIST!
Maybe just the pilot is 10 million and rest of the episodes are gonna be cheap all the way. You know ye old CW formula
>Lets kill off all actors on screen who are named Bean
Fucking Hollywood
Well you might see him again on flashbacks or whenever they need to do something where they require Alec. But yeah he's mostly going to be gone.
Man, I've loved Louisiana aesthetics ever since True Detective S1. Feels so comfy.
Why Alec Holland is not blond? You have all that CGI and can't give actor a wig?
Maybe.
He's a big guy
>mostly practical effects for this bit
Fuck yeah.
First episode was really good, possibly the best horror TV in a long time.
The lack of disease containment really bugs me though. If something like this happened in real life with an outbreak of something potentially apocalyptic, there'd be more than just a single CDC doctor down there and they wouldn't treat it so light lightly.
>"it's been burning for about 10 seconds, it's safe now"
Eh, it must have had a nice price tag because it did get halted. Maybe not as much as the pilot but up there. CW also has to budget for around 23 episodes so they have to cheapen out to get over that long haul.
It didn't seem like they knew the extent at first or even quite what it was they were dealing with.
Reminder that she did ballet and is super flexible.
youtube.com
Same reason Barry isnt on Flash, they don't hire blondes or show them onscreen in hollywoodland. He's probably going to be mostly a monster from this point forward anyway. Least they made you care, least I did, for the man before they more or less killed him off.
Are her toes a broken mess as a result?
>footfags
>Le feet
So long as they aren't covered in fungus like Brie's then it really doesn't matter what they look like.
The superior fetish is stockings or thigh highs anyway which means you'll never see them.
plebs
Gonna need me a preview for next week, DCU. This is not cool.
I'm thinking this will be the most popular DCU show yet
The purge of redheads in Comicbook land is much more annoying.
That said, The CW have a weird thing about the girls they hire for their superhero series. They must be attractive but not overly sexy. "non-threatening" is the way I heard it described. If they get someone sexy, they give her a figure hiding outfit.
DC Universe seem to give far less of a shit in general
DC can't afford previews anymore
Yes, a preview cut of an already finished ep will really break the bank. I asked for a preview not ladderfag posting.
Kind of thought that was a great gut punch though, Alec thinking all that time that he was Dr. Frankenstein not The Monster.
I agree about the redhead thing. They just blackwash them across the board. It's as if once they see a character is a redhead their protocol is make them black by default. I bet the casting process is ahead of the curb at this point it's such common practice.
The CW core audience is young women. So go figure they'd be threatened by more attractive women. Look how they made mousy Felicity their mascot and insert.
Hey, at least the guy that's rumored to play Wally in 'Stargirl' is a redhead.
>DC universe chooses to use Wally over any other Flash
>at the same time comic DC just made him a serial killer
bravo
>DC universe chooses to use Wally over any other Flash
>at the same time comic DC just made him tthe source of hope in the DC Universe
>at the same time comic DC just made him tthe source of hope in the DC Universe
>he hasn't read Heros in Crisis
Oh, user. I'm so sorry.... Wally is now a mass murderer and is in jail
The connecting factor is Johns. Johns fucking loves Wally, and planned to do a Wally family Flash book after Flashpoint, then it got turned into a reboot
>he hasn't read The Doomsday Cloxk
Oh, user. I'm so sorry.... Wally is now Superman
Actual canon Wally is in jail for being a mass murderer and framing his friends for his crime.
Sorry, user.
Actual canon Wally is the only thing stopping Dr. Manhatten from turning the DC universe into the Edgeverse
Sorry, user.
>Sorry, user.
Why? I would love for that Wally to be the true Wally. It's not though
But Yea Forums told me that Johns hates Wally and is actually a Barryfag.
I've seen you post this word for word in at least three other threads. Rent free
They're both the same Wally
And being a serial killer trumps 'the hope of DC' or whatever.
No way DC will let a cold blooded murderer be a central figure unless they're a female.
Just watched it bros. Kinda neat so far. Alec was a cutie, I knew that he was gonna be swamp thing but towards the episode I was hoping we’d get atleast another episode building up him and Abbys relationship. The show is Swamp Thing so it was probably best to get that Alec Holland stuff out of the way first.
I guess they ran out of money for the wig/hair dye too. But Alec lasted only one episode anyway...
Plant zombies were only plants. Anton and the Rot will likely be for S2 (if there is one).
>Plant zombies were only plants
I wonder, the plant kept looking around with the human's head which doesn't seem like a very plantish thing to do
I’m gonna feel bad if this shit gets buried solely because it was on WBs shitty prototype streaming platform.
Pictures from ep 2 show Alec will still be appearing (flashback probably but I don't know)
also here's a description
>While Sheriff Lucilia Cable (Jennifer Beals) searches for Alec unsuccessfully, Abby theorizes that it was more than an accident and retrieves his video journals from Daniel Cassidy (special guest star Ian Ziering). When one of her patients, Susie Coyle (guest star Elle Graham), escapes from the hospital, Abby and Matt follow her into the swamp. There, Abby encounters Swamp Thing – a creature that Susie later identifies as Alec Holland. While Alec struggles to understand his metamorphosis into the monstrous, plant-based creature, known as Swamp Thing, Avery meets with Jason Woodrue (Kevin Durand), the scientist who initially developed the biological accelerant responsible for the “green flu” and orders him to halt the epidemic. And Maria Sunderland (Virginia Madsen) reaches out to Madame Xanadu (Jeryl Prescott) in order to communicates with her dead daughter, Shawna (guest star Given Sharp).
>No way DC will let a cold blooded murderer be a central figure unless they're a female.
Is that Kevin Durand
I seriously do not recognize him after seeing him as the big buff dude in The Strain
Yes
Retconned, which is the only chance in hell Wally has
>Alec will still be appearing
Oh thank god.
Knowing that the season was truncated due to the show going over budget, and seeing how effectively that money was spent, and just how high the overall quality of the production is, can we just aim for ten episodes per season? Like, if it's a choice between high production values and less episodes, or low production values and more episodes, I know which one I'm picking.
I will not be able to get the scene from the autopsy room out of my head for weeks. Just...goddamn.
About to watch the show, if I like it I'll run the MEGA
We Blue Devil now
*fingers crossed for other anons* I have DCU so I'm straight but I feel for euro (and other places) anons who don't have the option.
Based.
He looks suitably hateable
>We Blue Devil now
I'm legit curious how they're going to do blue devil
Do I need to watch Titans or DP first? Or can I just jump straight in? Been waiting for this for a long time.
Jump right in, no homework needed
He gon be okay
When is this supposedly going to air?
Any thoughts on who or what the little girl will end up being? I thought she was adapted from the boy that heralded the Rot in Snyder's run, but I'm 70% sure she isn't.
I like the guy that got for Woodrue, but they are really gonna have to sell me on him as the Floronic Man. He’s just too nice! And sane.
How much of a tonal shift is it gonna be?
the entire show was looking too goofy from the trailers to me but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pilot, so I have faith it will keep the quality and it will work
Yeah just slap a band aid on him and he'll be fine.
Good thing DC cares more about synergy than anything else so if TV Wally is popular than comic Wally will finally get attention.
Best part is this guy has wanted to play Wally for years and to my understanding actually reads the comics.
>everybody hopes it's wally
>but it actually turns out to be Courtney's step brother
>comfy suckers tho
DC needs to just give up trying to do some connected universe and stick to shows like this and Doom Patrol. They're killing it.
I'd rather they just do some sort of DC connect videogame universe headed up by Rocksteady or something
Good lord do they have natural chemistry. I really hope that transfers over to when he's Swampy. Are they doing the same they did with Doom Patrol and have one person doing the body and another for the voice?
Was sad knowing he was gonna die. He really grew on me. Alec is a top qt.
I miss her chemistry with Billy back in the JSA comics. I hope they bring him in somehow.
Is Wein Swamp Thing okay? I know he's a comic legend, but I never really could get into his Green Lantern and I'm not sure if I'll like anything else by him, but I also want to read it since I find Swampy interesting.
But this is still a connected universe. Titans & Doom Patrol at least are. Swamp Thing presumably is too but it's unlikely they'll crossover. Maybe with Doom Patrol.
For the past month or so I've been plugging away at the entire Swamp Thing catalog and Len Wein's original run absolutely holds up.
It's better than I thought it'd be as I had some reservations too. Nice gothic atmospheric feeling horror tales. It may not be mindblowing stuff but it's good. Art too is nice. Overall pretty easy to run through. I don't think you'll run into any problems really.
He reminds me of someone face-wise and I can't put my finger on it.
Not that I want a crossover heavy and dependent universe like the CW one at this point, but I do wonder what threat they'd even battle. What would be worthy of two teams and a green god.
Tim Roth?
>But this is still a connected universe.
Is it really, though? If you actually try to line up Doom Patrol the series with Doom Patrol the Titans episode it doesn't really work out. Not to mention DP cast members have outright said there's no Titans connection (although it's possible they just meant in the sense that there's not any sort of crossover episode). I think Swamp Thing producers have ruled out even more clearly than DP any sort of connection with the other shows.
Well, we know Mears will do the body ST. Could see Bean doing the voice but with it distorted or something. Don't think anything has been confirmed yet.
are those actual squibs? really respect the effects in this show
No, Doom Patrol and Titans don't and can't work together because Beast Boy was never in DP or shown
Ivy was his assistant. He was the decision maker.
So is this actually good or is it "good" the way people think Arrow and Titans is good?
Titans isn't good, it's okay. Neutral. Arrow was below okay but still watchable, at least for a couple of episodes or maybe the entire first season.
This is above okay, maybe even good, but a second episode is needed to solidify any and all opinions on it.
tl;dr just watch it yourself
Is the run on the app or elsewhere?
The second one
You have to remember DC fans have very low standards
Why do you stalk out these threads if you hate everything DC related so much? Surely you have a better use of your time
Will he turn into the floronic man?
I haven't been reading it on the app, but it's all available there too. Even the Vertigo stuff, surprisingly.
Yeah they've said there's no connection. Then Rita's actress said in one of those DC Daily interviews it's a prequel after previously they aren't connected.
Except either way this doesn't make sense since in the second episode we see Vic looking at articles about all the things that happened in Titans.
So I'm just gonna guess no one knows what they are talking about or are just straight up lying like Talia supposedly not being TDKR
It's all separate until they say it's not. Basically CWverse rules, crossover when they want a boost
Before the show came out they said they are connected and again the show it self directly references TItans events
Like I get the people working on it want to act like it's entirely it's own thing.
But if you're going to do that actually be your own thing and dont directly acknowledge thethings that happened in the other show
Also that isn't CW rules at all. What are you talking about? The CW shows are clearly connected and things on one show have affected others before.
Who actually cares?
Fuck the MCU and the fact that people not expect everything to be directly connected with each other. Shits pointless 95% of the time
It's good. Now watch and decide for yourself because no one can do it for you.
Yes. Can confirm as that's where I have been reading it.
Art is nice but the story is generally just your average B-movie horror shit from the day. Saga of the Swamp Thing still blows any other run completely out of the water no contest so it's hard for me to read anything else.
Hard to judge considering it's just the first episode setting shit up but at least there's no melodrama thus far so at least it has that over the CW and Titans.
I found the pilot to be a bit disappointing but I'm gonna give it a couple of episodes before I hate it
>but at least there's no melodrama thus far
Did you miss the whole I killed my friend and her mom hates me subplot
There was A LOT of years passed over in the first episode of Doom Patrol alone. If he was taken in by Niles then he obviously was one of the ones who didn't stay long.
