IT BEGINS

Attached: 4534888.png (872x153, 68K)

the brothers are cute

>Bad dragon!

Uh oh.

painfully generic.

it's official; pixar has raised up it's hands and said "who gives a shit, we're gonna make a billion each film"

I dislike how the main characters are just some sort of homogenous fantasy humanoid. Are they trolls? Elves? Goblins? Imps?

they look painfully generic

Modern fantasy is a underused concept so im onboard.

Gee I wonder if anyone is going to draw any porn of this trailer.

Attached: Onward - Thicc Mom.png (1508x990, 1.27M)

It looks more like a Dreamworks or a Blue Sky movie rather than Pixar

There's already porn of the twink dude
More should be coming soon enough

Pixar already made two Monster Inc.s though.

twitter.com/cartoonbrew/status/1134275210792906752

Attached: pixar onward girls.webm (720x720, 209K)

Not really modern fantasy, with this they have a lot more to grab from than just different monster flavors.

So Unicorns are pretty enough to be on the side of vans but scrappy and rabid enough to be eating garbage? Are they like cats then? I can't see someone putting a raccoon on the side of a van, but I could see a cat

Princess Celestia has seen better days

Attached: Onward Alicorns.png (1064x1070, 2.01M)

Yep

Attached: Disney Pixar Onward Trailer REACTION!! Ashley & Company.jpg (480x360, 10K)

Look at the van again. It doesn’t have a unicorn on it.

Although, since unicorns here seem to be analogous to raccoons or stray dogs or bears, it still wouldn’t be so bad. Bears certainly look kickass when painted on vans.

Attached: 1537515930292.png (635x358, 73K)

It's a pegasus, not a unicorn

Winged unicorn, an alicorn

No, it doesn’t have a horn. The pointy thing on its head is just its ear.

>no cute girls
WHO CARES

Haha what if like modern day had a coat of paint? Haha isnt that funny guys?

Like imagine if they were just humans. This is just a boring story but like oh, they're fantasy characters and they're going to make fantasy puns and play on things.

Im just reminded of pic related

Attached: big ears.jpg (234x193, 10K)

So what's the "emotional hook" for this gonna be?

I'm thinkin dead dad.

Wikipedia says it's about them searching to see if magic exists so they can go back in time and meet their dead dad.

I imagine their dad disappeared or died and they're going on an FMA-esque quest to bring him back.

>no cute girls
>the mom
>no cute

Attached: 1559190120224.png (844x476, 250K)

lol I made a lucky guess then.

The twist is that they're gonna find a portal to our human world or something stupid I dunno.

You heard me.

Looks kinda wholesome. Mild interest.

Extended trailer

Attached: pixar onward troll toll booth.jpg (1920x804, 284K)

It might be good but looks kind of uninspired

Plot wise sure, but the art quality is definitely up to the Pixar standard.

>animal that isn't a dog but acts like a dogs but a few quirks
why?
hasn't this been done literally every fantasy single movie ever?

Attached: Onward Official Teaser Trailer mermaids.webm (1920x804, 312K)

Well if I had to pick a fantasy creature that's widely recognizable to be a metaphor for the modern day domesticated dog I probably would choose a dragon.

Dragons are totally cats, though.

>Dragon Doggo

Attached: WorldChaliceGuardragon-MP18-EN-UR-1E.png (471x694, 688K)

Why not a Cerberus? Though maybe that'd be too dark?

I'm betting cats will be griffins.

Cereberus is a mythological figure and not a species.

looks like another Good Dinosaur

TALLSKINNY AND BIGFAT

This looks worse than what gigantic could have been. Who is going to watch this "Trolls" remake?

people who keep screaming for Disney to make original content and not more live-action remakes

>literally dropped the words "BAD DRAGON" right in the middle of the trailer amongst all the mystical creatures
oh yeah, this is gonna awaken a lot of people.

>Gigantic
Seethe eternally.

Attached: 1524832360821.jpg (900x900, 74K)

>look at me I hate everything
pathetic thread

>people who keep screaming for Disney to make original content and not more live-action remakes

I want GOOD original content. Not some weird "I'm blue da ba dee" bullshit. I hope this fails at the box office.

The good dinosaur 2, here we come

Just a reminder that Trolls despite having a dissapointing box office gain in cinemas, did absolutely bonkers in merchandising and the cartoon, so yeah, I think Pixar only hopes they don't get another Good Dinosaur-tier of disaster.

And hell, the reason Good Dinosaur did so badly was because it was actually a bad western movie in disguise, lack of advertisement and overall not even having star power.

Attached: pZ7yl6xxP1s.jpg (425x357, 50K)

>meanwhile magic internet /pol/ has dwarves shitposting "AROUND ELVES WATCH YOURSELVES"
also why is "fantasy races with modern commodities" setting so damn rare?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 109K)

I like the concept but this trailer was terrible

Is it me or does it not look like a Pixar movie at all?

It look's like it's trying to be a Dreamworks movie. The fat kid even looks like Snotlout after eating Wonka's magic bubble gum.

feels very dreamworks
or bluesky

Wait, hold up...do you hate this movie because their blue?

Looks like Sadness

Attached: SADNESS_Fullbody_Render.png (874x1118, 1.25M)

I'm excited for this. I think it'll be cute.

There're two levels of Dreamworks though, there's kino Dreamworks (HTTYD1, Kung Fu Panda 1&2, Rise of the Guardians) and Trash Dreamworks (Boss Baby, Shrek 4, Shark Tale). This feels like it's falling in with the latter bunch.

I WANT TO FUCK THIS FAT DISGUSTING BLUE ELF IN HIS FAT DISGUSTING BLUE ASS
but this looks so bland, like dreamworld tier garbage but not even Sherk or cloudy with a chance of meatballs. More like megamind or Monster vs aliens. I’ll just jack off to the porn

Attached: F7A1CDBA-D68B-4584-AA33-065F8EE5ED34.jpg (750x709, 330K)

the focus on the actors at the end of the trailer reminded me of an Illumination film

blame Tolkien

The skinny guy looks like Linguini but recolored blue

Why are the character designs so shit? Reminds me of the Good Dinosaur.

>Megamind
>Bad
Them's fighting words in these parts. Also Cloudy isn't Dreamworks dummy.

Attached: 1554147462496.png (461x447, 232K)

I'd rather watch a story that takes place in actual Fantasy Land instead of "It's average american land bit with green pointy eared people".

Attached: tonyrolleyes.gif (245x187, 716K)

They look like trollhunters characters.

Attached: dreamworks trollhunters -season-3-poster.jpg (670x992, 120K)

>SEQUEL BAD
>ORIGINAL BAD
can you faggots never be happy?

>it's original so it's automatically good

>its Disney
>its a magical world
I'm still surprised how nobody has mentioned her

>Cloudy isn't Dreamworks
I guess I gave dreamworks too much credit then

It's what you idiots want, wasn't it? You have to deal with the varying levels of quality that comes with the shindig.

>I will shit on everything and anything because I equate reflexively hating on everything with having standards.

this
Fuck complainfags

Attached: 4.png (300x300, 9K)

I'll start another debate apart from the "is this going be a good Pixar film?" that is going on:
Do the mermaids in Onwards lay eggs or not?

Attached: 1485550799808.png (1600x900, 2M)

Your credit's not worth much if you hate Megamind.

But no thought went into this. There's no worldbuilding at play. They just painted the humans blue and called it "modern fantasy".

Where is my cute girl with a cute voice? Whats the point of watching if there isn't one?

looks like shit

Attached: Centaur Jog Onward Teaser Trailer Pixar.webm (1920x804, 863K)

This trailer is cut by Disney. Pixar had a better one but that was denied by the top brass.
As for the dead dad:
they ressurect their dad with a spell but only halfway. So they drag a pair of walking dad legs on a roadtrip with the goal to fully ressurect him to say goodbye one last time

>k goodbye dad
>one son shoots him with a gun that shoots magic missiles

My exact thoughts while watching the trailer. It's just so uninspired. Looks like we've got a second The Good Dinosaur inbound.

>megamind
>Bad
shit taste faggot

I feel like having a fantasy movie set in modern times makes it more forgettable in a way. It's something Dreamworks would do.

>Megamind
>Anything but amazing

Attached: 1559186192233.jpg (680x658, 67K)

>that centaur

A fantasy movie set in modern times with no humans makes it unique.

Does everyone forget the reason why The Good Dinosaur flopped in the first place was because of how bad the movie was advertised, how the trailers tried to hide too much the fact the movie's plot was really shit and how there was nothing really interesting about that setting or characters?

Why, because Shrek did it?
Because even then it still doesn't exactly apply.
Shrek was in a magical setting which had a ton of modern culture references and places, while still with dark/medieval technology.
As far as we know, this is a completely modern setting with only magical creatures instead of humans.

But hey, it's not like Pixar can fuck it up, right?

Attached: 1556325746201.png (704x1098, 150K)

Shrek doesn't take place in modern times

Attached: 51r0RgOnIrL.jpg (334x500, 51K)

That's the point I'm trying to make.
This isn't a setting Dreamworks does. Even if they go with technological jumps, they usually stick to the setting being in a specific time, which usually tends to be in the past.
And if they go with a modern setting, they almost always have humans be some sort of main character.
This movie is doing completely different from what Dreamworks would do.

>Does everyone forget the reason why The Good Dinosaur flopped in the first place was because of how bad the movie was advertised, how the trailers tried to hide too much the fact the movie's plot was really shit and how there was nothing really interesting about that setting or characters?
As opposed to what, shitty animation? Oh wait no, the dinosaur designs were also fuckawful.

That had a human

That was my first reaction.

That can apply only to the main character's family, but I agree with you.

This however doesn't look that bad except for the color of the elf brothers that for some reason are triggering a lot of people.

god i'm so sick of this shit. there's SO GODDAMN MUCH you can do with the idea of a developed, modern fantasy world, but that takes a single modicum of creativity which pixar doesn't have in this day and age. so now, we're stuck with completely normal average people that just so happen to be elves, or trolls, or half horse, and pet dragons that just act like dogs down to the fucking barking. instead of anything REMOTELY INTERESTING, we get this shit

youtube.com/watch?v=x8DKg_fsacM

So basically it's just Planet 51 but fantasy and even more generic
Alright..

Attached: 233754_PLANET 51_1400x2100_Eng.jpg (560x840, 771K)

>the movie's plot was really shit and how there was nothing really interesting about that setting or characters
Except this looks to be exactly the problem here. Compare this to something like Zootopia, which had a similar basic, otherwise uninspired premise but at least did something different with it. Even that had a mystery for a plothook, all we get here is the vague promise of a roadtrip.

Or Zootopia
"Something but in modern life setting" idea is sure screams of originality

Attached: zootopia-poster-disney-1024x683.jpg (1024x683, 140K)

Yes but them being animals that evolved to coexist like this and the flaws and shortcomings of this is a central conceit of the film

Yeah the brothers apparently want to find magic thing but you could have that plot happen in a regular fantasy setting and have them question for a regular magic macguffin

But they called the pegasus eating from the trash a unicorn.

Why do their characters always look jewish

>animation is a literal limitless medium
>we get stuck with CalArts and Disney sameface
I'm so tired of this "play it safe" environment.

When you're playing with millions of dollars, it turns out that the people who actually control that funding don't like to fuck around.

Rashida Jones said in a article that John Lasseter wasn't the only problem at Pixar while working on Toy Story 4. So according to her, nothing really changed at Pixar.

Attached: disney Pixar sameface.jpg (2137x870, 245K)

>megamind
>garbage

Attached: DzDaMl3WwAMDjfv.jpg (686x545, 25K)

I really don't think it's fair to lump Linguini in that picture. He's far from the disney sameface.

Attached: linguini.png (376x419, 283K)

ALRIGHTLISTEN TO ME YOU POLE PROPORTIONED DENDROPHILES!
youtube.com/watch?v=qC-ZanQjHXM

They're elves.

>centaur girl
>mermaid
>gnomes
>thicc milf dark elf
>the protagonist is the most boring looking character in the trailer

Never fails.

>Gnomes use human sized lawn mower

Remember when Monsters Inc had multiple doors for differently sized Monsters? Or Zootopia had slides for smaller animals so they wouldn't be mangled or trampled on escalators?

Attached: smug sheep.jpg (1420x1364, 341K)

Au contraire, it's modern fantasy actually done well. Instead of applying the most devoid of creativity concepts into a different bavkdrop.

Because "standard" fantasy races are a trash concept and the only excuse for using them is if you want to create a generic as possible world that you don't need any time expositioning.
Trying to do anything creative with them is folly because they're anti-creativity.

>limking to your own channel with disgusting quality version of the trailer

fuck you

youtube.com/watch?v=x8DKg_fsacM

Could just be cheap and using the client's equipment rather than their own. Though that's probably giving the movie too much credit.

Underwhelming trailer but Pixar has more hits than misses. At this point I think I can confidently say I'm not a fan of their character design though.

Looks like a good mix of comfy suburban slice of life/fantasy epic. I’m looking forward to it

Gotta pay the troll toll.

>literally under a bridge
>"Cash or Riddle"
Kek, this is outstanding.

>newspaper glitches into his hand
Welp, that's embarrassing.

They're glumps.

Nowadays even third worlders care about such insignificant details.

>Its a "Modern day, BUT ______!" episode

Attached: 1450425114339.png (351x420, 269K)

The characters are TOO UGLY. I can't stand them. Visually unappealing. This movie may not be as ugly as Brave, but it's not one of Picar's better looking films. For a while now Pixar has been churning out very ugly character designs and it's very off putting.

im going to bet that this is gonna be Brave-tier. a few good scenes but overall forgettable

Brave was outright shit itself. VERY UNLIKABLE protagonist for that film and terrible moral "Tee hee remember girls you're entitled if your mother disagrees poison/curse her and eventually she'll agree to whatever you say and you won't get into trouble thank you for the Oscar!"

Who is the guy on the left and why does he look like an ugly male Marceline?

And now I'm reminded we still don't have a Myth Adventures movie with Idris Elba as Aahz and I'm pissed.

the lawnmowers are regular sized because it's a visual gag to have the gnomes be smaller than their equipment jesus christ this didn't need to be spelled out for you

looks cool

>obey and consume, who CARES if you on't like it, OBEY and CONSUME WE SAID
slave.

>FEED ME PAPA CORPOR, SILENCE IS BLISS, WHO CARES I SUPPORT HARD WORKING ANIMATORS YOU FUCKING NAZI KILLJOY MEANY WHAAAAHWAAAAA

All those "mythological cratures" settings are an allegory to multiculturalism, so the white MC has to be the one without flavour, remember, the west must accept all difference, but nobody non-western has to do anything on their side, because by default, they are cooler and have more soul and are only victims at genetic levels.

It's a visual gag to have the garden gnome we first see in the background be an actual character instead of a garden ornament. What this indicates is that the film prioritizes humor over its world being believable.

Just like they ditched fancy monster food from Monsters Inc to show us that monsters actually eat literally trash straight from the bucket in Monster University.

>Megamind
>Bad
You hate it because it has thisng you lack.

kys faggot

My prediction: it will be okay, but nothing great, nothing we haven't seen in a Pixar movie before, in 5 years nobody will remember it. Except maybe some background waifubait monstergirl character.

I’m just glad the unicorns aren’t also dogs and they made them raccoons instead.

>Cereberus is a mythological figure and not a species.

Used to be the same with Pegasus, but look how that turned out.

>Megamind
>bland

That one had a horn.

I admit I don’t get why it had wings, though.

Obviously because those are winged unicorns. Duh.

They're Tuatha de Danan

They're aliens.

youtube.com/watch?v=XPtQPfjOoPs

Pegasus is not a species. That would be pterippus.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_horses

Haha, it's a fantasy but they have modern things.
It's been done. By Shrek. 20 years ago.

It's a fetish a this point.

What IP was used for this just so Disney has to shit it out?

at least the paperman guy got to have unique eyes

But... it's Bright.

IT feels like a Dreamworks move set in one of those trope modern fantasy manga.

I won't say its bad or something before watching it but...it feels...uninspired. Feels like something that has ben way too much times, with fantasy trope and roleplaying jokes everywhere without doing anything actually interesting with the setting.

Attached: wonder.png (399x400, 240K)

Isn't the right one supposed to be indian?

>NOOOOOOOOO! STOP ENJOYING THINGSSSSSSS!

This comic has a nice approach to the fantasy races in modern times. No humans, every race is fantasy race.
Its quite interesting because they have a dictatoship leftist goverment disguissed as a democracy, that sends to re-education camps anyone who dares to question equality between races, and you can end in prison if you dare to try to ride a centaur because that's considered oppresive because in the past centaurs were used as slaves.
Cars are adapted to other races, mermaids can buy robot centaur legs to walk, mermaids walk naked in their own inunded part of the city and have conversations with the mermaid guys normally but they have to cover their tits when people from other part come to not scandal them. In the fairy tales they read to children they abolish monarchy to instaure democracy.
Its like an utopic-distopic (everything seems paceful and perfect but actually there is lot of repression) version of our current world with fantasy races..

ITs actually an interesting approach.

>modern tim
Maybe, but the blue one is jewish.

>dark elves
so they're like Drows?
someone explain to me what is the difference between dark elves and drows?

They're just blue elves.

Drows/Dark elves usually are shown with more blackish skin.

Attached: blue_skin_elf.jpg (578x600, 271K)

wonder if there's going to be a joke about that at some point
>Oh no we're not Drow, we're blue elves, drow are much darker and have white hair
>all elves kind of look the same to me
>hey! that's very offensive

Why do I feel like Jack Black was suppose to be in this movie.

Also I hear Rex Dangervest when the old bro talks.

wonder if there are actually going to be humans or they simply don't exist
most fantasy settings have humans

I also hear memelord's thor impression from infinity war.

Their father is a human

Do you buy a proper sized lawn mower for your mexican?

>Shrek
