Nick Spencer's run on The Amazing Spider-Man just finished it's first event and I am way behind so let's start at the beginning and catch up
Nick Spencer Spider-Man Catch-Up
Bumping the thread for readers, good on you OP, this run has been really really good
I'm hoping so, I quit at issue five for no reason whatsoever.
I need to let my dog out, brb
Spencer is a hack who's one trick is temporarily turning the good guy bad.
So you only know of him from Secret Empire huh? I’m not surprised, Yea Forums doesn’t read and all that jazz
let´s not
the run sucks
>Captain America
>uhh...Karen Grant I guess
Who else?
While I was at I switched my IP so the thread will auto-bump. I feel like this will be a very empty storytime for some reason
I do like the reference to this issue, I think it was the astonishing annual it’s nice to see it get some love
Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1 by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca
Mysterio could only really prosper in a fantastical comic universe as its a place where skeptics are usually punished so he can get away with a lot of SFX skullduggery. Is this a real supervillain attack on the X-Mansion or is Mysterio putting the blinkers on me? Is this a real alien invasion or is that fishbowl guy that Spidey keeps telling us to take seriously having us on? That kind of thing.
Hey it’s a Star Wars reference!
That was basically the plot of Old Man Logan. All the bad guys team up and Mysterio tricks Logan into thinking the X-Men are them and Logan slaughters all of them
>that seething look of rage in Fisk's eyes as he must say this through gritted teeth
Oof
>they strongarmed Connors' patents (his life's work!) out of him for a middling teaching job
True villainy
Yeah, that was what I was referring to.
Holy hell! It's Ant-Master and Taskman!
Hope you’re ready to see a whole lot more of them user
I like Evans' and the Russos' dig at him during Endgame though.
Thanks for the story time op
You are welcome user
I know this arc is basically Spencer using a bifurcated Strawman persona to stress that his Spider-Man isn't going to a wacky wahoo glib quipman Deadpool type, but I still had fun with it.
And this is where I stopped.
Are we finally going to find out who this guy is now that the Kraven story is over?
I dropped this after issue five. It got wordy as fuck without saying anything. Just fucktons of expository dialogue. Let the art breathe man.
Maybe that's why I dropped it, this is a lot of reading for not a lot of substance
Maybe because you realized Ramos is a huuuuuuuge step down in quality from Ottley.
Because, wow, is it ever. I don't know why they keep giving Spider-Man to Ramos, because I am completely over it.
I like Ramos, his older stuff is way better though
For me it was really a shift in values. When I was first reading comics, I really appreciated well written dialogue, and lots of it, but now that I've been more educated in visual art, I really like comics that use an even combo of art and words to make a product. Unfortunately a lot of superhero comics are wordy as fuck to make up for the lack of anything interesting going on visually, but that wordiness in turns just makes them even worse. Anything Tynion writes is trash because of this. King basically aped Bendis but with half the intelligence, and Bendis sucks now.
We're apparently getting some answers soon yes.
the next issue, #23 is an epilogue for the Hunted Arc, but then we're getting some answers for Centi-demon in issues 24 and 25
Is it too much to hope that Fred ends up a good guy again? He tried that out for a while as Outback, but it didn't pan out for him at the time.
He doesn't necessarily have to be a "good guy", but maybe he could be the Deadpool to Spidey when the genuine article isn't around for a team-up run? Act as a more "morally ambiguous yet eager to do some good despite his fuckups" kind of guy?
>The looter
That takes me back
Personally I want to see Fred get the gang back together he was one of my favourite parts of Thunderbolts especially when he stole gear from his past self
In which Spencer does Heroes in Crisis/Sanctuary much much better than the concept it's parodying.
Also, that's Foggy Nelson top left, and Ganke, Toni Ho, and Willie Lumpkin on the bottom.
Not sure on the rest of the top row...
I loved this part
Continuing
This was honestly the bit that made me really love this run, We got a good reason for Felicia being so fucked up for the last few years and a happy resolution ending for the arc.
Bump.
Yeah, I can't believe it wasn't even done long before that. At least Spencer bothered to fix it.
This is also where I stopped
>Nick Spencer's run on The Amazing Spider-Man just finished
they're changing writers already?
This is probably one of the nicer additions to the marvel universe
I’m gonna take a guess and say that’s Wong and Cassie Lang’s mom
Genuinely good page.
I prefer Camuncoli to fuckin Ramos any day.
Take a shot every time you see Pete's mouth completely disappear
