I really hate that "Miraculous Ladybug" has squandered its potential

Problem is, Astruc didn't improve on the formula either. The Sailor Moon formula's flaws are pretty blatant in 2019. The formula dates back to the 1990s. The series is repetitive, excessively focused on the protagonist, and characters introduced regularly vanish and reappear.

Even if Sailor Moon was repetitive it still shaked it up every once in a while. Main villains actually got their comeuppance, so you have at least that.

Hawkmoth has been running wild for 3 seasons straight. Lila and Nathalie have gotten much worse.

I really like it. I can just randomly rewatch any episode and enjoy it very well.

The lack of continuity does have rerun advantages, for individual episodes.

Felix will only show up for one episode, be characterized as a total asshole so Asstruck can say he was right for ditching him, and then get Poochie'd out of the franchise forever.

At least Nathalie seems to be risking herself as Mayura out of devotion, but Lila is just plain EVIL.

This is exactly why the show is the way it is. We’ve already seen how it airs out of order sometimes, and since some episodes will air in some countries before others, keeping it in a way where no one will feel lost if they had some ongoing narrative.
Granted, now that the show’s guaranteed a fourth and fifth season, they can do more story-wise without worrying if the season they’re currently working will be their last and end up on some cliffhanger.

Personally, I want to see just how much worse Lila can get, going from bratty schoolyard egomaniac to full-blown Miraculous Anti-Christ.

[Judging from the newest ep, she'll pobably steal the butterfly miraculous from Gabriel at some point. Jesus, this means that this continuous battle will go into their adult life with no visible end. Or maybe the future will change.]

That or she'll find a similar power of her own that's not a Miraculous.

Or Gabriel succeeds in fulfilling his (wish which is just to revive his wife), and with no longer needing to be Hawkmoth, relinquishes his Miraculous, only for Lila to get it somehow, and uses it solely to defeat Ladybug and Cat Noir out of pure hate.
I gotta say, Lila is a lot of fun. She went from manipulative bitch in school to full on supervillian.

If he succeeds there will be no Ladybug or Cat Noir. Making Lila Hawkmoth would be a mistake. She is actually good in the field, while Hawkmoth's job is just sitting in dusty attic, watching, gloating and making puns. It would be better if Nathilie became HM and gave Peacock to Lila.

Yeah, it's a fun idea with some canon basis, but I think it's burned itself out for now. Maybe once the show starts setting up more hints, we'll see some more periodic surges of fan designs.

I've never understood why anybody liked this show. It's okay for three episodes and then gets super old real quickly. I can't imagine three seasons of the same shit over and over again. And it's not very funny to boot.

the shows creator tweeted out the cover for a script with an episode entitled "runes" and said here we go again, I forget her name but if you find her twitter you'll find it.. So there might be a tiny bit of hope
