Batman doesn't need entire franchises sacrificed to make him look cool and special. If anything, that's Superman. Take Wonder Woman who's thrown under the bus to make Superman look manly, the Justice Society who're erased to make Superman be the first hero ever, the Legion of Super-Heroes that are ignored because Superboy is lame, and so on.

Sharp's Bat/Wondy book sold 30~35k on average and there are a lot of Bat books that don't sell

He's probably going to say that the name Brave and the Bold didn't help. He doesn't know that readers don't buy minis much for seeing them as "not important". Same for some ongoings like Detective Comics, Batman and the Outsiders, and so on. Readers only buy comics that they feel will "matter". That's why usually the Batman ongoing, seen as the main ongoing of the line, is the one that sells a lot.

If the newest writer of the Batman ongoing take the comic status quo in a completely new direction, King's BatCat will probably sell in the range of 40k or something, because people will see his work on it as not "mattering that much"

If Bat/cat is very different from main Batman, it would make the readers see the book as a filler just to let King finish his run.
