Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemons and Billy Crudup are out. John Daley & Jonathan Goldstein still attached to write and direct. Warner is planning to shoot in early 2020 for a 2022 release.
Several actors in the 21-28 age range are being eyed for the lead roles of Barry Allen and Iris West. Guys like Charlie Rowe, Ansel Elgort and Nick Robinson and girls like Auli'i Cravalho, Yara Sahidi and Camilla Mendes. No one has been approached yet, these are just some of the names that have been mentioned more frequently. Producers are keen on a black/hispanic actress for Iris.
Daley & Goldstein will revise the script to reflect Miller's departure, but the project will not turn into a reboot. Their drafts so far have featured the Reverse Flash as the main villain and involve time travel.
Blackwashing Iris and setting it as a standard is one of the worst things the show ever did.
Dominic Clark
She's a brunette.
Adam Murphy
Iris is pretty bland in the comics. Being black detracts nothing from The character
Michael Campbell
Can't wait for Jim Parsons as Barry
Jace Martinez
I guess you could say the same about wally
Aiden Morales
>being black detracts nothing
Inherently contradictory.
Ian Carter
>Another piece of Snyder trash is washed away Beautiful.
Nathaniel Bailey
>lost their superman >lost their batman >lost their flash >replaced most of the Skwad Phase one of the DCEU will go down as one of the biggest clusterfucks in film franchise history. But Aquaman making a billion and Shazam being surprisingly decent could mean the whole thing actually manages to be salvaged, which would be shocking to say the least.
Henry Morris
It also adds nothing to the character. So why do it?
John Baker
I mean, the MCU could potentially be on it’s way out, maybe this is DCEU’s chance to rise from the ashes and make more than three watchable movies. I’m not strongly attached to either of the big two, so I’m willing to see what happens.
Alexander Torres
Is Zack Snyder the Empty Hand? He pretty much destroyed the DCU for all eternity.
Lucas Baker
>the MCU could potentially be on it’s way out In what world? There's a movie coming out in a month. 2 TV shows coming. At least two confirmed sequels in the pipeline. Plus Eternals and Black Widow. There's already at least 5 years of MCU - it's not going anywhere.
Cameron Rivera
>I mean, the MCU could potentially be on it’s way out Nope. The MCU is the new Pixar, it'll go on forever. They'll just make a new big bad like Kang or Annihilus and keep it going.
Logan Myers
>Yara Shahidi I hope she get's Iris role. She's very pretty and I like in Black-ish and Grown-ish .
Black women rarely get to be love interests. It's nice seeing a cute black girl being loved.
Ryan Hall
>Black washing. >CW tier teenagers
dropped.
Jaxon Edwards
> it's turning into one of those movies that gets passed around between writers like a cheap hooker at a party RIP
Cameron Evans
But Flashpoint was coming
Bentley Rodriguez
Then use a black character. Stop raceswapping everything.
Chase Thompson
Why not do it is the real question. It doesn't matter what race she is, it has nothing do with her fundamental character.
Ryder Torres
Barry shouldn’t be Peter Parker.
Here are some better suggestions.
Barry Allen:
Ryan Gosling Alexander Skarsgard Charlie Hunham Michael Rosenbaum Dan Stevens Garrett Hedlund Alex Pettyfer Ryan McPartlin
Iris West:
Bryce Dallas Howard Jessica Chastain Emma Stone Holland Roden Rose Leslie Karen Gillan Jane Levy Jessica Biel
Christopher Russell
If her race doesn't matter, then why change it?
Julian Miller
Why do they even bother? The TV show pretty much covered everything Flash-related. What else could a movie offer other than maybe better effects?
Kayden Howard
>replaced most of the Skwad That's a good thing though, this is something that the comics have been failing to do lately. Skwad should have a rotating cast.
Owen Johnson
>Here are some better suggestions. All of those actors are a decade too old, boomer.
Hunter Bell
Because they want to have more black characters, and classic, Silver Age superheroes didn't really have any black characters until Marvel started adding them in the mid 60's.
Kayden Green
Barry Allen shouldn’t be in the Peter Parker generation. 28 at youngest, 48 at oldest.
Owen Harris
Why would Miller leave from the most lucrative and relevant position he's been in for his whole life?
Blake Stewart
Because why not?(this a very circular discussion). they want a POC as the love interest, they don't want too many whites on screen, I dunno.
If they used a black female character, you guys would complain that its no Iris West or has nothing to do with Flash lore.
Nathan Morales
>lucrative and relevant position >DC capeshit kek
Matthew Campbell
he's literally in harry potter spin off franchise thats incredibly popular.
Aiden Moore
Constant harassment, being associated with DC films isn't exactly a winning career move right now, and WB probably wants to distance themselves from Snyder and his films as much as possible, particularly after his recent comments
Levi Davis
Then make a movie about a black character. They do exist. Iris isn't black.
Jonathan Gutierrez
Yeah and Tony Stark isn't a midget, Black Widow isn't a Jew, Aquaman isn't Polynesian, Wonder Woman isn't Israeli, Ned Leeds isn't a fat Asian kid, and that isn't even to get into all the changes in characterization. None of these movies look anything like the comics anyway, no one cares.
Henry Roberts
>Blackwashing redheads again They can't keep getting away with this.
Colton Murphy
Is the ginger the new black of something
Joseph Baker
There are more black characters than redhaired characters
Chase Harris
They've been doing this for almost a decade. I can't believe they keep getting away with this.
Elijah Cruz
I’d be fine with a Hispanic actress, at least then there would be an easier chance for a ginger wally
Jayden Sanders
Why is Hollywood forcing WMBF?
Jonathan Lopez
>Ezra Miller is gone youtube.com/watch?v=NmPhaG1ud38 I saw a couple articles about how he and Fisher's contracts were soon to expire, so hopefully this is the case. Don't ask me who thought he was a good choice for Barry when he neither looked or acted like him.
Charles Evans
Iris is a massive bitch in the comics (at least in silver age) so she's not that bland. Ezra was wasting his time as flash...he should play a villain
Xavier Robinson
Then why not cast a white guy as John Stewart or Cyborg? What does it have to be the other way around?
I don't hate the fact that they cast a diverse actress for both versions of The Flash. Atleast cast a good looking one? Candice is ugly as shit and Kiersey Clemons is pretty average looking. Same goes for the new Black Canary.
Benjamin Roberts
WHERE'S THE FUCKING SOURCE????
I swear, this board is gossip central. And most people believe every little piece of shit "news" someone posts here without any evidence whatsoever
Julian Kelly
>distance themselves from Snyder and his films as much as possible, particularly after his recent comments
What did he say this time?
>Only sexists hate Sucker Punch
Hahahahahahaha fucking what
Joseph Gutierrez
what the fuck are you even talking about? Are you just trolling or straight up copying the lies other people told you?
Kevin Hernandez
Since when do things need sources to be true? Next you're going to ask why the text isn't green
Henry Harris
I wonder who in the world are they going to pick now? Hopefully that will pick someone who was once an athlete.
I don't care about Ezra, I just want a nice Flash movie. Is that too much to ask?
Liam Hill
Except that Barry is the bland one.
Colton Kelly
Yes, you selfish prick.
Benjamin Gonzalez
kys
Anthony Allen
your kind has no value alive
Dylan Long
Source? Because otherwise I'm filing this under 'just another shitpost'.
These, very much these.
An Aquaman movie made over a billion. It made more than a Spider-Man movie. It made more than any of the Nolan Batman movies. But sure, let's pretend that the entire thing is a failure because we are either actual shills or tribal fuckwits who feel the need to 'side' with franchises and corperations like they are sports teams.
>completely misunderstanding Multiversity >reeee someone made a movie I don’t like! This whole universe is dead forever!!
Yikes
Logan Anderson
>literally a retread of the CW show, both in Season 1 plot and projected casting choice For what purpose? If they're making a movie, make it into something different. Don't just lazily ape the TV show.
Luis Price
Barry Allen should be at least in his 30s, he's fundamentally a Dad-type with a stable job.
You want a Young Flash? You go with with Jay (who got powers in university) or Wally (who got powers as a kid) Barry was a grown ass man with an established position when he got his powers.
Camden Walker
Gotta do Geoff Johns' epic 'muh dead mom' storyline, user!
Gabriel Lee
Yes, Barry should be older and not young like CW tv shows. Marvel cast RDjr, Paul Rudd and Ruffalo on their 40s
This is what fancasting nonsense actually looks like.
Aiden Cooper
but I liked Ezra as Flash...
Matthew Perry
Based
Nathaniel Thomas
The ones where he was dead?
Jayden Perry
this movie wont ever come out
Adrian Carter
So someone explain how they will explain why all the actors changed? Also whya re all the Iris's black? What the fuck? Fuck jews.
Hudson Cox
That's because they aren't attractive. I say this as a black person.
John Perez
>They could have made Wally The Flash so they can explain why the actor changed >NO WE HAVE TO HAVE THIS BLAND AS FUCK BARRY BE THE FLASH NO MATTER WHAT SO EVEN IF IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE WE NEED HIM
Why are this assholes pushing so hard for black Iris?
Josiah Edwards
In Hollywood (and in Cali in general), the mere act of having a movie with too many white people would be racist.
Brayden Hernandez
Where did it state that?
Jonathan Butler
>He says while being a grown ass man bitching about casting in a capeshit movie
Owen Cook
>Ezra Miller is out FUCKING WHAT? Is this confirmed? Holy fucking shit first of all how did I miss this if it’s true, and second of all DC has really screwed the damn pooch on this universe, they really need to blow it the fuck up and start over, they won’t, but they should
>So someone explain how they will explain why all the actors changed?
They'll just ignore it.
Lucas Gutierrez
It's not confirmed, OP is just going off of rumors from Twitter
Cooper Sullivan
They're pretty much just gonna have to start off with Shazam, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. They're all doing good enough that I... I hate to say it, but they just don't need Batman, Superman, and Flash. I mean, they already got 3 hits, they're a different flavor than the usual and Wonder Woman is probably gonna continue to ride off of the hype from the 1st movie.
It's real rough, but if they do it right, phase two of the DCEU could be fantastic. They still got so many characters around for this. They could easily do this:
>Have Dick Grayson take up the mantle of Batman after Batman disappears in some incident involving him trying to track down Hush >Have The Flash be Bart Allen instead who comes from the future to meet his ancestor, but can't seem to find him. >Superman can just be Kon-el/Superboy, created by Lex Luthor to destroy Superman, and succeeds but eventually realizes that he did the wrong thing and revolts against Lex.
Like I said, it'd be all really rough, but I think it could be possible.
Isaiah Morales
west is a redhead dammiiiiiit!
Nicholas Wood
Hopefully they change the character portrayal as well.
