Reanimated History

What did Yea Forums think of this?

I'm about 99% sure you guys hated it, so this is mostly a rhetorical question

Adam is a literal retard and the citations in his videos never actually back up his evidence if you look it up.

oh boy, here we go
another political bait thread
"MUH SJWSSS!!!"

there
take your fucking (you) and piss off back to basedgon's channel

It could do without most of the framing devices.

I don't think abut this douche at all until someone brings him up.

Attached: 1558210817324.jpg (150x150, 5K)

He's actually good and informative when the subject isn't politically motivated. Like the episode on Amazon or the one on Forensics. The whole show falls apart though when dealing with anything touchy like when he used Anita Sarkeesian as a source and the "fact" that more women play video games than men from a unreliable study that also included phone games.

>when the subject isn't politically motivated.
why? you don't like to learn the truth and history of abuse of the american people against anyone that isn't white?

/thread.
It's pretty obvious all his facts come from whatever his writers give him, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but that can get skewey when he or the writers want to push something. You can clearly see this with that one podcast interview where he tries to argue about transexuality but doesn't know anything about the issues or subject so just all his arguments essentially go "Well I know a guy and they told me".

It's basically a marginally worse version of Penn & Teller: Bullshit! It's usually alright but every now and then you can tell their political bias is showing. Difference is Penn is way more charismatic so you either let it slide or didn't notice said bias with his show.

>Second opinion bias: the show

Boy, I can't wait for him to tell me how everything I was taught in 3rd grade was a lie

you know Adam Explains has writers and researchers and Adam is just the host, right?

kids in american today literally have propaganda shoved into their throats that will follow them for years to the point where they won't listen to the truth because they held a false belief for so many years they won't be willing to listen to anyone else
oh hey, it's you

>He's actually good and informative when the subject isn't politically motivated
Which is why he's hated so much. Sprinkling a little truth to make a lie more convincing is diabolical. His show wouldn't nearly get as much attention if it was complete satire or covered facts with heavily backed sources.

What, phone games are not games?

I mean ye

Adam Ruins Games was a fucking masterpiece

But the political episodes are all horrible

I know but that's sort of it. When your host isn't an expert on anything they're more likely to get info that suits them, which is why I compared it to Penn's show since he suffered from the same thing every now and then. It's not super common but it happens.

It also doesn't help he tries to put himself out there as if he is as smart as his character in the show but then when you actually see him out and about without his writers he's about as knowledge as any other layman and shouldn't be teaching anything without said writers.

Not really. An overwhelming majority of phone games are lackluster garbage with flashy effects made to squeeze out micro-transaction money and waste time on one’s commute, and half of those that aren’t are just ports of actual older games onto IoS and Android.

So what I can gather is that people hate him because he doesn't DEMOLISH SJWs WITH LOGIC AND FACTS

I feel like this should be a short describing what CalArts style is and where it came form

The guy is an insufferable cunt. When he appeared on Joe Rogan he's just your average bearded nu-male. All of these preachy edutainment shows are the same. You can shuffle the host around and nothing would change

When people talk about vidya they mean more complex stuff then the very basic gacha stuff. Even if they do count as vidya it's so far off from the culture that counting it is disingenuous.

It's like if someone saw Spirited Away in Cartoon Network once and now calls themselves a weeb.

What "truth" does Adam preach about history? That Columbus never actually went to the current US?

Nah I think its more douchey smugness

Yeah man. School is a lie, Fight Club is deep and mom doesn't understand me

Attached: 1528234196859.jpg (585x767, 173K)

stupid fucking libtard bitch

He's just smug and acts smarter then he actually is outside the show.

Like let me put it this way: Bill Nye is a scientist. His new show sucks because he has zero charisma and is constantly at a smug "I'm better then you" tone which makes the show unenjoyable, but he is an actual scientist. Even if you hate, even if he explains shit in the worst way possible you cannot deny the fact that he knows what he's talking about because he's a motherfucking scientist and he is smarter then most people.

Adam is about as smug but now add the fact he isn't a scientist. Sure he has writers to back this up and it usually works but sometimes shit goes through the cracks and outside the show itself he tries to sell himself that he really is as smart as his character when he isn't.

Bill Nye might be a prick but he's a prick that knows his shit.
Adam is a prick and needs other people to know his shit for him.

That and the hair.

>he's a motherfucking scientist
He's a mechanical engineer, taking his advice on climate change or biological genders is like taking an art history professor's advice on fire fighting.

They're still games, bro.

Yes but it doesn't mean they're gonna be drawn into shooters and fighting games.
They've found their niche already, and its easy to tell that any attempt by developers to reach out to them is purely in pursuit of profit.

>dude drinking lots of water is a meme!
have fun with kidney stones

They are games in the same way that shit covered food is edible; You can eat it and not die of hunger, but why do that when there are way better alternatives?

t. lefties that didn't watch him get absolutely demolished by fucking Joe Rogan

Idiots

Not that other user. But yes. They are.
How much women play games and what games however is different from the games men play and how often.

Attached: 1382634815738.jpg (750x1815, 622K)

No, no matter how many s*y encrusted invalids insist that they are.

It's like saying more racing drivers should be women because the majority of drivers are female. It's a complete roundabout piece of logic that has no bearing on the real market.

Women play a fuckton of mobile games because they have easy access to smartphones and, on average, use them more than men. Yet when you get into console and PC gaming, it's very rare for females to make up even 20% of a game's average playerbase, on average it barely scrapes 2%.

Anyone else here remember when the iphone first came out and the mobile gaming market was actually original and decent?

>He doesn't know about formula W

I seriously hope nobody takes anything this guy says seriously. I mean, it's a fun entertainment show but I get worried when people actually cite him as a source for arguments.

>it's so far off from the culture
Ah, so this is what it’s all about.

This is prretty true for my girlfriend. She enjoys music-based games, bust-a-move, sidescrolling platformers but put her in a 3D character action game and she can't use the camera controls well, can't see what she's doing, and dies. Put her at a pokemon game and she doesn't remember the elemental types and somehow beat the ice gym in pearl with a Staraptor because pokemon does not require expertise to win.

>even if he explains shit in the worst way possible you cannot deny the fact that he knows what he's talking
He was an airplane engineer. If I want an expert on airplanes and the mechanics of such I'll go to him. I would not consider an airplane engineer a suitable expert on, say, climate change.

The show is perplexing. About half the stuff he says is what it is, and the other half doesn't support the argument he's making. Like the episode about security and how tamper-proof seals on medicine don't protect you from not following directions, taking more medicine than recommended and killing yourself.

It's one thing to be wrong, it's another to be smug about being wrong.

The fuck. Next thing you know Tetris isn't a game because it doesn't have lore and you can't do dragon punches.

Woof, someones mad

>you can't do dragon punches.
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 absolutely lets you do dragon punches, but in fairness it's kinda its own unique puzzle game and not tetris.

No self respecting scientist would tell you to just trust the word of another scientist. Scientists are human, they can be biased, and they can allow that bias to inform their position, even in the face of countervailing evidence to their position.

Research the topic yourself, find liturature from a variety of scientifically valid sources, and always be open to the idea that, while we may know a lot about a certain topic, that doesn't always mean the science is settled.

If we're going to reach, Tetris might not have lore but the irl story about how it came to be published is more interesting than most vydia lore.

it has it's up and downs, although I have to admit I can't remember much of what he covered on this series.

Do tell, I'm always interested in hearing more.

>is like taking an art history professor's advice on fire fighting.
Hey now don't talk shit about my art history professor, it was through him that I learned about Marcus Licinius Crassus.

Not within the context of talking about what kinds of demographics play video games. You can also exclude people who only play one video game, such as World of Warcraft or FIFA. Mobile gaming is it's own pond. Anybody who wants to argue anything otherwise most likely has some kind of agenda.

His Anti-Columbus video was particularly bad in its portrayal of actual history, spreading the idea that Columbus was an evil stupid racist slaver.

Well he was, and only American-Italians would object to that.

uhhhhh

I'm a Spaniard, and I object to that because I studied the actual history.

Then you should know that he was thrown in prison for disobeying the queens orders when it came to the treatment of the natives.

theguardian.com/world/2006/aug/07/books.spain

That was before publishers jumped in hard on the microtransaction train and learned that people would pay real world money to bypass a game timer.

the ONLY good history channels are

-Historia Civilis
-Invicta
-Kings & Generals
-Townsends
-Todd's stuff
-Scholagladiatoria
-Knyght Errant
-Forgotten Weapons/Inrange TV
-The Great War
-The Cold war
-Sabaton History

Of those, Kings & Generals, Invicta and Historia Civilis actually count as animation therefor are Yea Forums related

OSP and History Buffs are animated as well, and they are good.

When Joe Rogan makes someone look stupid, you know to stop backing that horse.

Quick, Adam! Retreat back to your Vice sources!

This is the same idiot who said a border wall was useless since illegal aliens would just fly over in a plane.

>Townsends
My nigga

>This is the same idiot who said a border wall was useless since illegal aliens would just fly over in a plane.
He isn't wrong

History Buffs is inaccurate and political as fuck though

And how do you back up these claims?

>Adam Ruins Games
I only saw the one where he's trying to "ruin" the "myths" surrounding girls and video games and he desperately clings to bullshit such as Candy Crush being just as legitimate as AAA games in the discussion, and tried to say that Nintendo set up their original system in the boy's aisle as a complete coin toss.

If you're arguing why AAA games are designed with boys in mind, you don't throw Candy Crush into the discussion.

By looking at their analysis of movies like Kingdom of Heaven, it's nothing but one sided propaganda and lack of nuance.

Nobody's arguing that girls don't play cell phone games.
Arguments about designing games with boys in mind is always in regards to AAA games in 99% of cases.

oh it's one sided propaganda to call the caliphate out on their brutality? It's one sided propaganda saying that the movie paints Europe as their dry bleak and boring land while showing the holy land as a warm land full of colour. Almost like the moving saying that the holy land is better then Europe

>what is scale
Idiot lol

I fucking hate that segment about Columbus, but mostly because it seems like gringos think that when people say that Columbus discovered America they mean the united states and not that he found South America and technically all the continent.

I think that Adam guy looks like a douche and I don't care to watch him "ruin" anything.

Blame the USA for that, they are the ones who made people think that America=USA

Straight up, Adam made me realize I hate myself.

I enjoyed it

Not part of whatever's being discussed here, but laughing at someone linking The Guardian to back ANYTHING.

America does = USA
In America, almost everyone refers to every country south of us as part of Mexico, or Mexicanese in a way.
It's not even racist anymore, it's just a colloquial misnomer.

>Nintendo set up their original system in the boy's aisle as a complete coin toss.
Partly true. Video game crash years before put nintendo in a very precarious position. Nintendo had a lot of ideas at the time for the console and folding it into something else in case video games didn't work out. Packaging the original nintendo systems with a rob the robot was banking on being able to sell the system as a toy. Nintendo as you know also planned a lot of peripherals to cast a hugely wide net on the market. They also planned a knitting machine and there was also the miracle keyboard. Nintendo knew enough not to put all their eggs into one basket. Especially when said basket had just a few years prior been full of rotten eggs.
They gambled on the NES, but they certainly hedged their bets, so to speak. They were prepared to turn the NES into something completely different if need be.

jstor.org/stable/j.ctt6wptvz

Dude I worked on this show and I cant remember what he covered in this series.

>almost everyone refers to every country south of us as part of Mexico
No one does that.

He literally raped a native girl

He did something about the American revolution I think, about the guy yelling the British are coming.

What was the point of that garbage you just spewed in regards it's marketing being focused on boys?

And likely shot her offspring's IQ points up at least 20 points in the process.

tl;dr
Nintendo was prepared to throw ideas at the wall until something stuck and sold the system.
They got lucky and the first idea they pitched stuck.

>remember when the iphone first came out
Yes.

>and the mobile gaming market was actually original and decent?

literally fucking never. Mobile games have ALWAYS been trash and cancer.

That still doesn't address the fact that them marketing to boys wasn't a coin toss.

>No one does that
butthurt mexican detected

>Bill Nye is a scientist.
Bill Nye is a fucking children's entertainer who got an undergraduate engineering degree before moving into local tv and eventually getting his own show. The fucking pharmacist labeling pill bottles behind the counter of your local Walgreens is more of a scientist than Bill Nye.

It wasn't a coin toss at all, no. I think Adam making that argument kind of makes it seem like nintendo hadn't any other ideas if that fell through.

Fuck off back to pol/ you stupid gringo.

>no Lindybeige

It's a loooong story
youtu.be/_fQtxKmgJC8

This belongs in pol/ you stupid niggerfaggots redditors.

>Nye moved to Ithaca, New York to attend Cornell University and study at the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His enthusiasm for science was deepened after taking an astronomy class with Carl Sagan. He graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering in 1977.
>Cornell University is a private and statutory Ivy League research university in Ithaca, New York
Who are you trying to fool?

So desperate you gotta false flag?

>"Spandau"

Nintendo other possible uses for the system isn't tied to the reasoning behind their initial marketing, however. It's a moot topic in the face of main subject matter. Hence, why the fuck even bring it up.

>Attend a seminar
>you're now a scientist

by that logic i'm a fucking Nuclear power engineer.

I see Yea Forums is still mad that he said transgenders are people.

Funny how none of that translates to having a say about trannies and psychology.

The Cartoon history of the universe is a comic

and it's a fcuking well made one

Nobody says that trannies aren't people. Saying someone has a mental illness isn't saying they aren't people.
Why do people use this "don't say I don't exist" argument, like retards?

>He graduated
So you ignore the possibility that he reads up things?

>taking anything this guy says seriously after his appearance on JRE exposed him as an uneducated tard

Attached: image.png (542x771, 62K)

>Townsends

I see you're a man of culture and taste.

If we're discussing shit he said, he also said that the LGB+ community should rape their straight friends to turn them because no one is really straight.

There was literally nothing wrong with that, you dumb frog

>why the fuck even bring it up
Nintendo was marketing after a massive market oversaturation of video games and systems. Everybody was making video games and trying to sell them. And they were all the same bottom of the barrel low effort cash grab crap. Nintendo had to set itself apart from every other video game console in the eyes of john q public who thought every video game and system was the same, since the majority of them before that had largely been indistinguishable from one another.
The reason for bringing up the video game crash and nintendo wanting to have backup options was entirely relevant to their primary goal of setting nintendo as a brand apart from every other cheap electronic store video game console that was available. They knew that if they didn't innovate, everyone would just assume that nintendo was just another piece of electronic junk being sold all over. In order to do that, they had to prove that nintendo could do more and be more than just video games.
Which is ironic, since the primary selling point of the nintendo WAS the video games.
The entire premise of nintendo's success was based around marketing the system after a video game crash. Bringing up nintendo's marketing strategy is inexorably tied to that crash.

Can someone explain this to me? Why?

Attached: Untitled.png (699x343, 86K)

Women are more socially inclined towards friendly group activities than men. They want to be in the moment.

Because, you know, men and women do in fact have distinct neurological differences.

The data presented does not offer an answer for why these things are the way they are. But for some reason, "social gaming" seems more popular among women than men. That's not the same as multiplayer or internet gaming. But things like mario party and party games are less popular among men.

Which is a shame, because as a kid I loved playing video games with friends and inviting them over to play for an hour.

>That's not the same as multiplayer or internet gaming.

Okay, that's what was confusing me. I thought this was about games like Counterstrike, Overwatch, TF2, etc. and thought, "But those games are mostly played by men?".

Equivalent of the "Umm, acthually" kid you dont invite to slumber parties.

the "Multiplayer" element of video games doesn't seem to lean one way or another; the genre of the multiplayer game usually is the determining factor.

I've only seen a few episodes of that show but he seems to be consistently incorrect about everything he talks about, nearly all the claims he makes tend to be very poorly sourced or based on rumor.
Adam ruins everything is similar to that high school kid that tries to convince you literally everything is darker or more controversial than it is based on something they read in a cracked article.

no because he talks and acts exactly how I imagine the typical redditor would

Give examples, retard. Just saying "HURR DURR, HIS MOVIE REVIEW BAD CUZ IT PROPAGANDA!! 1!1!" doesn't say fuck all except that you're an autistic sperg.

I've never seen or heard of this show, however that character looks like the most stereotypical pretentious liberal cuckold imaginable. So I'm pretty sure it's awful and incredibly bias but thinks it is being objective.

>uhhhhh.wait that's true? I never um heard about that study....well uh I'm not an expert but like my...trans friends told me giving 8 year olds sex changes is uhhh fine

Attached: adam.png (329x218, 102K)

>kids in american today literally have propaganda shoved into their throats that will follow them for years to the point where they won't listen to the truth
Precisely, I was propagandized about the evils of slavery committed by white people and then as an adult I did my own research and found out that 1.4% of americans owned slaves at it's peak and 28% of freed black slaves bought slaves of their own.

No. The lack of physical buttons has always been too severe a restriction for games with any degree of depth or complexity to thrive on that platform. Puzzle games can often get around this but pretty much every other genre is and always has been dead on mobile.

>So you ignore the possibility that he reads up things?
Right wingers don't shame people for being 'uneducated lower class cretins'
progressives do because elitism is essential to their worldview.

If bill nye started talking about the same issues from a non-PC talking point you and your ilk would call him an uninformed ignorant buffoon yet you defend him because of ideological nepotism.

>Bill Nye literally spouts anti-scientific ideological drivel
>REEEEEEEEEE GET EDUCATED YOU FUCKING RIGHT WINGERS

Even a retard like Joe Rogan can prove Adam wrong.

This made me legit sad for the dude
I never thought he was especially smart and his show is full of holes.
But I couldn't make it through the whole episode. It was painful as hell. How can you be so goddamn smug and have no knowledge? Everything was anecdotal. No facts. Just "someone told me". Hes never read any study. Does he not have the base curiosity to learn? Isn't that what he show is supposed to be?

Why the fuck is it triggering that the NES was marketed to dudes either?

Don't answer that.
its a rethorical question
Attached: images (4).jpg (739x415, 15K)

Hug boxes are one hell of a drug
youtube.com/watch?v=OwAGdZKLMCc&t=960s

>Why the fuck is it triggering that the NES was marketed to dudes either?
It's not.
Or at least, it shouldn't be.
There was certainly significant reason for nintendo to believe that marketing to boys and men would be successful.
Marketing targets demand that exists, or else it fails. A crude example would be pink razors.
They make them because people buy them. It's that simple.

That said:
What does adam mean when he says nintendo marketed the NES to boys? I get the feeling he is intentionally vague about how the NES is targeted to boys. Just states it as though it was true, without proving or even suggesting how it's true. He just begs the question and you're meant to just accept it as an axiom.

>Does he not have the base curiosity to learn? Isn't that what he show is supposed to be?

All those "SCIENCE FUCK YEAH" and "HISTORY/CULTURE ROCKS, TOTALLY COOL DUDE" people are absolute simpletons who got impressed by flashy displays once and decided to regurgitate things to others for attention. They treat science as magic whose knowledge is closed off so they don't try explaining, and history as fantasy settings where the only context that matters is that it's cool and weird.

People like that are a cancer that actively destroys any effort to achieve good things in academic research. They're already raising hell in history and societies because of "Eurocentrism"

This.
As a woman I much rather play an mmo that caters to outfits and customization. A lot of cellphone games do this, so I pick up those over warcraft, TF2, and OW. Some like both, but a majority is going to go for looks than gameplay.

>Reanimated History

More like "Revised History"., eh comrades?

>I much rather play an mmo that caters to outfits and customization. A lot of cellphone games do this, so I pick up those over warcraft, TF2, and OW.

But would you play games that have ridiculous levels of customization and outfits but are of "manly" genres, like Mordhau and Escape from Tarkov?

Sorry you had to find out the nasty truth about your hero in an Adam cartoon, user.

If you want to use a youtuber as a source for "truth" then why not someone who actually cites shit

youtube.com/watch?v=ZEw8c6TmzGg

>They're already raising hell in history and societies because of "Eurocentrism"

Good on them that they're finally learning that studying the pacific theater in WW2 shouldn't focus on the American war with the Japanese, but on Japan's occupation of Asia.

I already knew someone would eventually post this. He bends a lot of facts to suit his point just like Adam.

It's not about Eurocentrism when studying other places user, it's about Eurocentrism when studying Europe. Because these retards literally think "white people are boring".

Citations > No Citations.

Does microwaving ramen or sprinkling salt on a plate count as cooking? Does driving around an RC toy count as driving? Does play fighting count as fighting? Does sitting in a puddle count as swimming?

Do I really have to go on?

>I see Yea Forums is still mad that he said transgenders are people.
Wait they are?

That movie had a massive bias and a bunch of historical inaccuracies though. If you're going to say something like that at least explain what parts you had a problem with.

come on man that icecream clip was pure cringe, like just contextualization it with anything else sexual and suddenly you get an animation extolling the virtues of anal vore.

They both use 'citations', user. What I'm talking about is how they twist those citations to try and confirm their own bias. My favorite part is him using Google translate to translate a text because he doesn't like the translation someone else did.

Virtual Tits or gtfo?

Because he relies on someone making a script for him that is designed around making him seem smart as possible where he is telling the truth. That world falls apart when confronted by someone not playing with the bullshit.

Think about Rick and Morty's shitty Fallout 4 livestream. Sure they can be bemusing in an environment where they're the center of their little universe and ha ha nihilism. But when in an environment with multiple variables, they can't really make jokes on the fly cause the real world doesn't revolve around them.

Basically TL;DR ''I'm a genius in my mind'' syndrome.

>How can you be so goddamn smug and have no knowledge?

I think that's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. Basically he lives in sort of bubble where everybody parrots the same smug talking points and pat one another on the back about how much more clever they are than the people they're making fun of. Because everyone is super tolerant and nobody ever challenges the shit they say, they really do think they're brilliant. Ironically, they constantly preach tolerance and understanding, but are completely intolerant of thoughts that veer too far off their mental script.

>Everything was anecdotal. No facts. Just "someone told me". Hes never read any study.
>Does he not have the base curiosity to learn?

Those things aren't his job. His job is to read he's told to read in such a way that it produces an debatably informative and entertaining narrative that is wrapped up in 20 minutes. Again quite ironically, Adam discusses this very phenomenon more than once on his show when he points out that "reality shows" aren't actually real, but are engineered stories that use tricks to make the audience think they're watching something real.

>Isn't that what he show is supposed to be?
Depending on the politics of who you ask, it's either misrepresenting facts and studies for the sake of entertainment like I said before. Or propaganda meant to push the political talking points of the show's creator(s) to a receptive audience under the guise of being informative, while simultaneously making anybody who holds opinions contrary to the ones presented on the show look ignorant, bigtted, and/or uninformed.

I'm personally not sure which, but after hearing my mother blame "those damn white people for murdering all the Indians" after watching his Thanksgiving episode last year, I lean toward the latter.

>I'm personally not sure which, but after hearing my mother blame "those damn white people for murdering all the Indians" after watching his Thanksgiving episode last year, I lean toward the latter.

While American treatment of indians doesn't come close to the definition of genocide, let's not pretend that Americans didn't break treaty after treaty and treat Indians like shit when their presence was inconvenient and the federal and state governments mostly honored treaties only when it benefited them.

Well yeah. The only time that statistic with the phone games was invoked was as evidence that "gaming isn't actually a male hobby, and that more women are needed in every facet of it". Essentially, as a way to put more people that agree with people like Anita and her talking points in positions of power that influence the development of future games to push more of their talking points.

Not to downplay or justify the shit that happened, but that just what happens to a conquered people.

> let's not pretend that Americans didn't break treaty after treaty and treat Indians like shit when their presence was inconvenient and the federal and state governments mostly honored treaties only when it benefited them.

It's less about how Americans of the time actually treated the Natives (I agree they could have done better), and more about how my (white) mother mimicking Adam's use of the label "white" as a pejorative without realizing she was doing it. She didn't start saying things like that before she started watching the show, so I conclude that the show's intention is to make impressionable people like her parrot glib little points like that.

>Not to downplay or justify the shit that happened
why even bring it up then?

You forgot to add in "Right?" 20 times in that sentence, bro.

Because like the second half of the sentence says, that's how most conquered groups were treated so it's not really a unique event.
It's like it's human nature to kick the "enemy" while he's down.

You don't like the label of white? Ok. What percentage of Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents up until the 1900s were not white?

An overwhelming supermajority of people in power in the United States who mistreated the natives were white men. They're also long dead, but why are you focused on quibbling over a factually correct label instead of focusing on the present era.

Do you mean the Anglicans, the Germanics, the Mediterraneans, or the Paddy's?

You tell me. You're the expert here.

Oh fuck off purposely ignoring the part where my post says "as a pejorative". I don't dislike the use of "white" as a label. I dislike its use as a casual way to deprecate and villainize whites as a race while constantly portraying "people of color" in an unfailingly charitable light. I dislike women in their 50's spouting the same ironically racist talking points as 20-something Californian college students.

The world doesn't really care about your feelings.

But you do, which is why you responded.

Then so are slot machines

Was this reported by a Spanish man trying to get the Italian fired because they wanted more land?

>What, phone games are not games?

They are games, but pretending that's the same industry is insane. Phone games sell well and make a lot of money, but whether they do or don't has zero effect on CoD or Mario. Phone games could vanish tomorrow and console gaming wouldn't be any different, visa versa as well.

Are you parroting or can you delve deeper in his citations? What do you mean? Can you give a prime example of his misinformation and show his citation and your citation?

I just wanna know.

The assertion was that Bill Nye got an undergraduate degree in engineering and you confirmed that yes, he did indeed get an undergraduate degree in engineering.

Is the fact that he went to a rich white people school and took a meme astronomer's class there supposed to change the fact that his objective education level doesn't qualify him for the serious label of "a scientist"?

Why not track down the story in Yea Forums form?

When I think "particularly bad" and Adam Ruins Everything, my mind goes to him trying to normalize Herpes.

All you're proving is that you don't need to spend a decade in college to get an advanced degree to study and explain science. When you watch an episode of Bill Nye and see him explain the difference between spiders and arachnid, how spiders eat their prey, and their characteristics, do you see and hear that and think to yourself that he can't possibly know a thing about spiders because he doesn't have a doctorate in etymology?

Sounds cool.
I usually don't read a lot of comics but if it's genuinely good I'll actually sit down and take my time and enjoy it.

Oh I'm sorry, I should have written gotten a doctorate in arachnology.

No because he's explaining it to kids and he's not a real academic scientist, like implied he was. When in reality he has less actual science education than is required to work at a pharmacy.

>he has less actual science education than is required to work at a pharmacy.
There's a science education required to work at a pharmacy?
I'm genuinely curious what that science education required for a pharmacist is.

I'm not sure exactly what politics has to do with this, but I only watched like 1 video of his. I watched his Columbus video and it seems like he skews the truth or outright lies towards some established cynical bias. Which is a shame, because I would've like a show about actual interesting common misconceptions that people have about the world.

Yeah, we all saw the No True Scottsman fallacy the first time it got paraded around. Repeating it doesn't make it any less fallacious.

To work as a pharmacist in America you need to be a pharmaceutical doctor. To even get into the program required to become that sort of doctor requires roughly 3 years of prerequisite studies that include courses on chemistry, physics, and biology, in fact it's not too uncommon that a pharmacist will have a bachelors in chemistry.

Study on drug prescriptions and their interactions with the human body and other drugs. It takes a while to be one because you can easily kill someone if you screw up.

His gun video was bad, using secondary sources and ones that pretty much fabricated.

Also conclusion is pants on head retarded.

Why bother with this guy? Not worth the effort hating.

Ah, thanks.
With that said, I think it's possible to be a scientist without 3 years of studies in all those fields.
Being more precise:
Someone with a physics doctorate but not the prerequisite studies in biology or chemistry is still a scientist, I think. So that would technically mean they could be a scientist without meeting the qualifications of a pharmacist.

> I'm no export but my trans friend from the military told me.

Jesus Christ, Adam.

Scientist is a very broad and somewhat vague category, with it's loosest definitions including people like medical doctors and engineers

That's pretty reasonable.

as much as this guy brings up some good points, he also bends shit pretty hard in defense of columbus.

yes, columbus has been badly maligned, however, he was also a giant douche, so whatever.

I'm blanking on the name but didnt that Spanish man end up taking Columbus' job after the accusation but ended up later being caught doing what he said Columbus did?

Even Adam himself admitted that the show is only made for comedy and isn't factual

This is extremely informative. Holyshit! thank you user.

That's true.

what about the dog video?

>-Townsends
Truly gods gift to man.

Saying phone games are like normal games is like saying comics are like normal books. technically you are right, but both comic and literature fans would strongly disagree.

I despise anyone who enjoys spreading false history facts, be it "ironically" or not. This shit sticks with people. Even Il était une fois l'Homme is more mature and accurate than this garbage

What do you expect from someone making "WELL ACKTUALLY YOURE WRONG" videos? fucking idiot probably wanks himself to the thought of proving bis political enemies wrong and gaslighting them

But that's just a theory...

A GAAAAAAAME THEEEOORYYYY!

>my trans friend said
>my trans friends kids said
>my trans friend said

i like how people will just eat straight up state propaganda now if they hire some sardonic douchebag to present it bookended with shitty jokes and tv production

No True Scotsman doesn't apply when it's an actual criterion to be part of a profession (i.e. peer-reviewed scientist). Yeah he can be a man who reads science journals, or gives his opinion as a public figure, but he can't be a peer-reviewed scientist without being meeting on the agreed-upon educational standards of the community (which isn't the same as mass-media "pop science.")

You don't seem to get that being in Vice interviews or whatever the fuck Bill Nye does doesn't put him on the same "scientist" footing as the board of the EPA or the New England Journal of Medicine.

>when the balding obese man with greasy skin says ''Alpha males don't exist''
I think most people like him suffer of this type of insecurity hence all the virtue signaling to mask all the dark shit in their head.

>says ''Alpha males don't exist''
Well they don't

So no amount of schooling will cure stupid, I see.

Jelly Car
checkmate

I just watched him on Joe Rogan talking about the Trans Athlete controversy and... wow...

I kind of suspected Adam wouldn't be very well spoken off script based on the heavily edited interviews you see in his show but I didn't he'd be that bad. He just can't stop overusing the same phrases and arguments, it's like watching a man speak to a broken record.

>I'M NOT AN EXPERT
>I DON'T HAVE THE FACTS RIGHT NOW
>I KNOW A TRANS PERSON SO...

Attached: 1557248758349.jpg (480x480, 15K)

Why do people always use trans accounts as if they hold some kind of solid authority on gender identity issues? How is a trans person not viewed as inherently bias on gender identity issues and how they might affect children or structures like sports? That's the weird one to me. It's not the same as asking a black guy "Hey so racism against black people huh?", it's much more like going up to a guy who just stepped in dog shit how he feels about pet owners.

Fucking melting pot mutts, noone outside your retarded country puts "whites" or "blacks" or "asians" under a single banner with defining traits. You are not white, you are german or french or an anglo.
Your mongrel nation has no idea how to talk about these things properly

Are you fucking retarded? Do you think a pharmacy is a fancy wallmart for sick ppl?

Ah the classic Yahtzee Croshaw defense

>when people like my opinions i should be respected
>when people don't like my opinions im actually just joking and they shouldn't take it seriously

>Does he not have the base curiosity to learn?
No because why learn facts when people might find them uncomfortable.

I forgot that ice cream clip existed...... Fuck you, user.

>the virgin Adam Ruins Everything: Reanimated History
>the chad WTF101

>Are you parroting or can you delve deeper in his citations?
>the former
Well, alrightythen.

no he didn't

>Sprinkling a little truth to make a lie more convincing

that is the epitome of Yea Forums and its racist users though.

You say it like racism is a bad thing

The purpose of the wall isn't to stop immigrants. Republicans have no problems with immigrants.

It's to stop people coming across the border illegally. The people running drugs, the human traffickers, etc.

It's not a controversial thing, and Democrats look like idiots for being against that, as well as saying "As long as you show up at the border with a minor, come on in. But stay the hell out of my city!"

m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEw8c6TmzGg

Simple: FUCK ADAM.

We don't give a fuck about any of this shit; all we want to do is to be left alone to our own devices. Fuck education, fuck history, and fuck you.

>This supported my preconceived biases. Holyshit! Thank you user.

If it have no politicians or have nothing to do with the government, then it's not fucking political dipshit.

His entire show is about challenging our society on trivial matters dipshit.

It's a Liberal show for Leftie retards.

To be fair, White as an umbrella term for collective guilt is a fairly modern invention. There used to be all sorts of "this white group isn't the right type of white group" in the US, see Irish/Scottish/Russians, etc.

Is that hack still reviewing games?

his silly smug face makes it hard to take seriously

If anyone tells you that "Most people in the middle ages believed in round-earth", you can automatically assume they're a retard. Anyone who thinks that is objectively wrong and needs to be smacked with a 2x4. It's undeniable fact that the vast, vast majority of people believed the earth was flat prior to Columbus's journey, and even sometime after.

Wasn't the earth presumed curved for a long time due to maritime travel, though? Star charts wouldn't work on a flat earth.

Plus, some ancient Greek dude figured out the earth is round by using wells, shadows, and the distance between them.

Depends on how far you're travelling, and again, the population that information was pertinent to was small. Basically, you're looking at scholars, sailors, and travelers. And even that's limited strictly to europe and some of the middle east. The general population of europe still held a more planar view of reality.

And if you're looking outside of Europe, those numbers disappear almost entirely. Even if you assumed that Round-earth was widespread in europe, that still only accounts for 1/5th of the world's population. Asia, Africa, and the Americas all believed in planar earth.

Yes

I'm not sure who still reads escapist but I guess enough do.

That sounds like moving goal posts.

It really isn't. It's just the explicit reality of the situation.
People have such a knee-jerk reaction after learning that their grade-school Columbus fairytail is hammed up, that they take the impact and scope of his journey for granted. It's the same reason you have retards trying to turn "Columbus Day" into "Indigineous People's Day". As though they actually accomplished anything special that day.

>It's to stop people coming across the border illegally. The people running drugs, the human traffickers, etc.

Almost. The purpose is to slow down their passage and force them toward choke points where they can be easily captured.

But Colombus'es trip wasn't about proving the world was round. It was about finding a sailing route west to Asia He wouldn't have gotten the investment to do it if people didn't already think it was possible. Hell, part of the problem was he had trouble getting funding because people had already calculated how large Earth was and knew the idea was ludicrous barring a continent no one knew about being there.

Strictly speaking, it wasn't even really possible. They would have run out of supplies long before reaching Asia if they kept going. They just lucked out and hit San Salvador. Its not that the story is hammed up, it's that most of the details are wrong as far as what people take away as the implications of the voyage and trying to spin it as a positive event when it was really just another thing that happened. It was significant because it set off 100 years of murder hobos showing up to loot whatever they could find and eventually a European colonization race as everyone tried to claim all the virgin land inhabited by people who had no way to strike back at the main country in Europe.

I don't think you actually read anything I posted.

I watched one video and can already tell this is the same shit that Penn and Teller did on their show
youtube.com/watch?v=zvJHq2FJPDM
Literally no thinks mouse models are a substitute for human models. They're misrepresenting something and then "correcting" the misrepresentation they just fucking created.

This. If you have spent any time in research you would realize its the same as any other career. There are tons of incompetent people.

>Hell, part of the problem was he had trouble getting funding because people had already calculated how large Earth was and knew the idea was ludicrous barring a continent no one knew about being there.
Well, that and turbidity. A large number of scholars believed that even without hitting land, it was impossible to sail past a certain point due to rough waters. Even if he hadn't hit land, his voyage was successful just for how far he sailed into open water and likely would have justified larger funding in the long run.

> it's that most of the details are wrong as far as what people take away as the implications of the voyage and trying to spin it as a positive event when it was really just another thing that happened.
The implications of the voyage are that Columbus took something that was still largely theoretical and turned it into something genuinely practical, to the point that it was both literally and figuratively revolutionary. His journey took Round-earth from being a concept exclusive to scholars and sparked its spread across the entire world. It's only mildly hyperbolic to say that he proved the earth is round.

>It was significant because it set off 100 years of murder hobos showing up to loot whatever they could find and eventually a European colonization race as everyone tried to claim all the virgin land inhabited by people who had no way to strike back at the main country in Europe.
It was significant because it was the most audacious cartographic endeavor in the history of man kind. Colonization, invasion, and subjugation are not what make this event unique.

So... The Virgin Adam Combover vs the Chad Mike Trap?

Attached: virgin lisa chad bart.png (680x315, 225K)

I'm pretty sure it was in Columbus' diary

Have it ever occur to you that everything you taught in school are propaganda feed by the capitalist aristocrats to get you to work in factories without any complaint or resistance whats so ever?

Because that what this message this douce bag is sending us through his shit.

>Bill Nye is a scientist
Doesn't he only have like a bachelor's in engineering or something?
