That, and the whole “who will betray who” thing and espionage it had going on. Also nudity and swearing.

It was the actually interesting political intrigue, how characters could get killed or seriously injured when they fucked up, and having many characters being a muddled shade of grey.
All of which disappeared by season 5.

Old south park is still relevant and engaging cause it actually had a plot, a theme, a message.
Now, south park like many other "comedies" are just reactionary shows that are only relevant if connected with what is happening currently in the real world.
Remove that context for future generation who won't know or care about 2015 celebrities or shows, and your work will have no effect on anyone.

The running joke presenting Black Friday shoppers as an encroaching horde of zombies while the staff maintaining the store looks on in encroaching horror still gets a pretty good laugh out of me.

I enjoyed em but never watched GoT. Good leadins to the game and its entertaining enough for a 3-parter. Unless you're retards that complain about anything like there isnt much to hate.

When Game of Thrones started out, there was a lot of chatter about how they used sex scenes/nude scenes for info-dumping backstory and plot points (like Littlefinger's backstory and Loras manipulating Renley to betray everyone and make his own play for the Iron Throne).

In particular, they pointed out how the show went out of it's way to show male nudity in the gay scenes. So South Park was making fun of that.

Only the ending hasn't aged well; it was another example of Parker and Stone fucking up and giving into media pressure. They picked X-Box One to win the console war when initial reports came out that it outsold PS4 that Black Friday, but while producing the episode it came out that X-Box only outsold the PS4 just barely and gamers at the time were more vocal about how the PS4 was better in terms of it having better game sales overall during this period.

It was shit. They made it about the new video game consoles when they knew precisely dick about them.
