nah, they're dying on their own. Piracy is only the reason for a certain amount of lost sales. Take for example PC gaming, even games with Denuvo get cracked in 3 days or less now, yet they're still making shitloads of money.
Or to get more on point, manga and eurocomics. The former is uploaded the second the Jump hits the shelves, months before you can even buy it, the latter gets printed with way smaller volumes at 12-15€ for 40 color pages and still ends up online the second you publish it. Yet they're doing fine because they still manage to attract enough viewers.
The reason they're dying is because they fucked up somewhere else. I'd say it's either the obsolete economic model ( pretty sure they'd make more if they had some sort of deal like Netflix, pay like12$ a month and read whatever you want online. Or maybe put the less famous series together in bigger mags like 2000AD or Heavy Metal to reduce publishing costs, and still publish some Batman in it every now and then to keep people interested), or the fact they missed the current generation of kids and Fortnite got to them first.
