Male characters prove themselves through actions and results.

Female characters prove themselves by receiving emotional validation from other characters without actually having to do anything.

Thor craves femdom.

>What was the point of this scene?
Clearly she wanted to borrow his guyliner.

I want brie larson to dominate me

Studio mandate.

>Why did Thor even like her?
Because he's the God of Lesbians.

>What was the point of this scene?
To see if she would flinch

>Why did Thor even like her?
She did flinch but she was ready to fight nonetheless.

Nice.

>To see if she would flinch
this

Not a very good one if he converts all his followers to the dick

In a narrative function it was Thor determining if Carol had the mettle to aid them: summoning Strombreaker in a casual show of force to see if she would flinch. He was satisfied with what he saw.

Thematically, it's to reassure the viewing audience that Captain Marvel is trustworthy, as Thor - a character we know and trust - has given his approval.

women have garbage reflexes. It is not that she did not flinch... she was busy thinking about shoes.

But I still didn't like her? She felt out of place whenever she was on screen.

And that's fine, honestly. It's just the older guard taking stock of this new ally and determining that, yes, she's made of stern stuff. It'd be more off-putting if such a scene was absent.

absolutely based

No you fucking idiots. Thor got mad when she claimed she could defeat Thanos so that's why he got up and tried to scare her. When she just glared at him, he got scared and was suddenly like "I-I like this one" because he didn't want to get his ass kicked. It's a comedic scene.

had plenty. Not impressed. Open your own doors and go down with the ship you dizzy cooze. You aint no princess.

Did Chris Hemsworth really got that fat? Or was it just a fat stunt double?

>insisting on gaining the weight even though they can just CGI the fat in
now that’s a committed actor

Prosthetics with cgi touch up

I like how they had him wearing gloves to hide where the fatsuit met his wrists

Because she came of as tough and determined.

Don't we all?

Because he was contractually obligated to just like every fan of carol on this board. The more you “like” her the more you get paid it’s why she has such virulent “fans” here

What is it with Americans and guacamole, holy shit. They are obsessed with that stuff.

Because he was testing to see if she flinched. She then narrowed her eyes and smirked like "nice try" and he was like "oh, she's the real deal, let's do this"
Pretty fucking obvious

This thread
>FUCK WOMEN

In a narrative function and thematically, it was weak and poorly handled. If they wanted to show Carol earning Thor/the audience's trust, it should have been in an actual battle. You know, trial by fire. Any Judas could avoid flinching at a loud whooshing sound. That's not a reliable test. Furthermore, theres a big difference between "you passed my trust test" and "I like her LOL"

Fake belly prosthetics. There are photos on set where he's not wearing the gloves and you can see where the plastic starts.

He is right, though.

To show how "tough" she was. It failed because Brie Larson can't emote and looks like the average skinnyfat women you'd find in a bar.

>this new character isn't getting fan support as we hoped
> let's add a scene telling the audience to like her because the hero likes her

Her overconfidence in herself reminded him of when he was overconfident.

>It failed
It didn't.

Chris Hemsworth is Australian

Whatever dude, Angl*s are all the same to me. Australian, American. Fuck them.

Why don't you guys have sex?

She reminds him of the creatures back on Asgard.

You're right. What really failed to show her toughness were those cringey training videos Brie did in preparation for her solo movie.

Angels?

They were going to have a scene of Kevin Feige getting on his knees and begging us to like Carol, but they decided that was too subtle.

One of those YAS scenes, if Thor likes her, why wouldn't you?

I wasnt the biggest fan of the scene but it pretty much goes like this

>Captain Marvel "you didn't have me last time, lets go get Thanos"(or something like that)
>Thor decides to see if she can back up that big talk and tries to intimidate her by whizzing his axe past her face
>Captain Marvel then stands completely unfazed and Thor being impressed by her bravery says "I like this one"

while I dont like that it was a cheap scene purely being used to make CM more impressive, it was totally in character for both of them and made sense in the context of the film.

Probably the hardest acting Chris Hemsworth has ever had to perform in his life considering he fucking despises Brie Larson.

Because her plan was to search for Thanos and kick his ass

>it was totally in character for both of them
Has Thor ever intimidated anyone to test their mettle and then suddenly like them when they pass? I'm not sure how that's in character for him. As for Carol, she has no character to speak of besides "strong female character" so I guess you're right in that regard.

He drank with and fought Selvig and they appeared to get closer from it. It's certainly the sort of thing a warrior character might do.
Still a shit scene tho

I wish the two big powerful space people have heard of each other before. It would have added a lot of credibility to her retconned presence in the MCU.

What was the point of her character in general? She's barely in the movie.

DAILY REMINDER:

Kevin Feige Does Nothing Wrong

To hook the shippers, I think.

CM went through Thanos' ship, she was able to do the same with a large part of his army but Tony has to die so...

Female characters arent written the best in these films, but they're always meant to be some form of likeable.

All he had to do was stop taking steroids and stop working out and just continue eating what he was already eating. Easy fat gain. He can just go back on roids and take DNP and clen and work out again to get back in shape later.
