He doesn't want to have to wait another year because he knows that as soon as production starts on the new Batman movie there's going to be a flood of rumors and news, aka hype, and he needs to be on the book while that's happening because he knows that's going to artificially inflate sales.

The thing is, everyone is looking at this as King being kicked off the book, but what it really is is just his tenure being rescheduled. He was ending at 100, but DC says "we're cutting two arcs, so that your ending comes at 85 instead of 100".
