Why are they doing this? Is this some kind of sinister plot like in American Dad's Tearjerker?

where the fuck is time going?
last week still feels like I was having winter holidays and now half of the year is already almost over.
I would have sworn that this movie was still 2 months off until release

trying to capitalize on nostalgia for their good animated movies.

They'll stop when the money train stops

How old are you? I only ask because the same is happening to me and I think its an age thing.

I'm 20.

neither aladin nor dumbo where all that great in animated form so no surprise that modern sjw disney fucks them up even worse

Yep, 21 here, same shit.

I haven't seen any promotion and that's why it feels like it. Usually when something gets released there's increased promotion, but nobody cared in this case. It went from "I heard they are making this shit" to "I heard they released this shit" without "They are about to release this shit and want me to see it" phase.

I fooled you, I'm not even him.
Holy fuck, you are all generation z kids...

Nice work poisoning the well Disney

>neither aladin nor dumbo where all that great in animated form
Weak bait.

>neither aladin nor dumbo where all that great in animated form

Nice try, zoomer

I am just become 25 years
it is an age thing. the longer you life the less 1 day , 1 week or 1 month is in relation to your overall life.
I think the fact that I had a pretty relaxing 5 months also helped with that. for me time goes by much quicker when I get to relax.
but still I have had this feeling of time speeding up since I was 20 and it is only getting worse for me.
the last 4 years honestly felt like just 1.
meanwhile my time from 16 to 19 feel like over 6 years long

Take some dick pills and go fuck someone's mother, you old fuck.

I saw a trailer for it last week at the cinema but the thing is i remember seeing trailers and teaser for movies in the cinema as a kid that where still at least a few months away from release.
like harry potter or christmas movies

When you own 2/3 of the production studios you just sort of stop caring about quality.

now you stop caring about money if you own 8 of the 10 biggest box office draws of all time and just start throwing money at everything

The reviews don't matter though. People will still go see it, some because nostalgia, some because it's the new gimmick, some out of morbid curiosity. It'll still make the money back, and then some, it'll still be considered a net gain, and then they'll do another one.
Who wants to guess which remake they'll announce next?

16 to 19 is a time where a LOT of change is going on in your life, that's how it was for me at least. I'm 24 now, and while there's obviously been other stuff going on my life has also been a fair bit calmer than those three years.

Bambi

Look, all I want is to see an actor transformed into a photo-realistic CG squirrel and get molested by another photo-realistic CG squirrel in a scene that tries to play the whole thing off as being innocently romantic.

Once THAT is committed to film and available on Blu Ray, these live-action Disney remakes can fuck off for all I care.

Song of the South

Will they?

Fuck man, this ride needs to slow down.

Attached: 567ada6.jpg (1242x1232, 88K)

It's because when you're a child and teen you are constantly exposed to new things and experiences, so they stick in your mind.
As you get older the distance between new experiences gets longer and longer resulting in the feeling of time flying by.

That and it's probably some copyright loophole.

fucking good, no one should see either of these censoring tumblr pieces of shit.

Attached: major disapproval 21.png (400x300, 142K)

Animated Aladdin was basically a white Chad with a tan, they messed up. Not to mention pajeet Jasmine.

Get fucked, cracker

Attached: 1556684657416m.jpg (1024x572, 49K)

Yeah, that'll do it. You're both at the ages where you're still young enough that time still has value because things change in such quick time (senior year of high school is a HUGE difference from sophomore year of college, for example, as if they were different lifetimes... but it was only 2 years, which is fucking nothing in the grand scheme of things), but you're also old enough that time relative to your overall age isn't that big of a deal. 2 years being only 1/10th of your life vs. a 10 year old where it's 1/5th of their life. Time feels like it's moving more quickly because you're older, but you're still acutely aware of how much time has passed because you're still young.

As you get older, and things change less year to year and things start to become more and more about the longterm rather than the short term, time will feel like it's moving quicker and quicker for you. You just won't care as much because you don't have something like school keeping track of your months. Just the ever marching passage of time mixed with increasing stress lines and gray hair. For example, the past 4 years are practically a blur for me. Sure, some things changed here and there, but I haven't really changed as a person very much. You? The person you were 4 years ago probably feels like someone else entirely.

Point is, time will keep feeling like it's moving faster and faster the older you get. You just won't care as much instead of going "wow, woah, you're telling me it's MAY?! It feels like February was just yesterday!" Have fun forgetting how old you are.

Holy shit, wise one, you've described it perfectly.

These fucks deserve alot more rotten reviews for their shit films. Glad this is doing badly.

Stop

WHO has nostalgia for DUMBO ???

People who saw and enjoyed Dumbo as children.

You want to know why they keep doing it? Six simple words completely absolve the live action remakes of any overarching negative consequences.

"Judge it on it's own merits."

Once these six words get ingrained in public consciousness, all justified outrage evaporates and is replaced with fucking half-assed qualifiers of "it wasn't as good as the original but thats okay", thus turning what should be viewed as irredeemable garbage into a mediocre movie that still makes the studio a shitload of money.

These six words are one of the many tools used by media moguls to ensure the consumers wallet has no power whatsoever.

You don't need to be 90 years old to have seen it, user.

I'll rather get this over with. The only way Disney would ever rethink their choices is if they suddenly had a bunch of fialures in both critic and financial departments.

Wow, never thought I'd see Godzilla get a higher impending score than Aladdin. Guess it's not going to be kino then

Dumbo was released in 1941

>I'm 20-something I'm so old hahaha oh jeez I'm basically a geezer now
Shut up, child. You don't know what old is.

This is a second Disney Dark Age. They've gone through this before. Walt Disney passed away and the company is run by businessmen, not artists, and they didn't know what to do. So, they did what any businessman is trained to do and "exploited the brand", meaning they released a ton of shitty sequels to previously successful films. Since they were money grabs that started in the marketing department data and not in anyone's mind, they flopped hard.

Then Disney bought Pixar. After that, they bought Marvel. Now buying other successful companies is their main route of survival. They DID lobby to extend copyright for a hundred years, after all, so may as well get the money's worth from the very, very few IPs that have lasted that long.

But now that they own all the old IP and nothing else really lasts over a decade before fading into obscurity because of the market factors (nobody wants to pay royalties to run a ten year old movie or show), all they have left to do is re-release classics and to do it badly.

And was rereleased on VHS and DVD many times

now, is no time at all.

It's heartening to see some reviewers realize that live action + cgi can't compare to the cartoon

Beauty and the Beast
Budget $160–255 million[4][5][6]
Box office $1.264 billion[4]
Dumbo
Budget $170 million[4]
Box office $347 million[5]
Jungle Book
Budget $177 million[3]
Box office $966 million[4]
Alice in Wonderland
Budget $150[2][3]–$200[4] million
Box office $1.025 billion[5]
Through the looking glass
Budget $170 million[2]
Box office $299.5 million[1]
Because they reliably make money, and often make a fuckton of money.

keep the copyrights from expiring

BatB and The Jungle Book both made money so they're going to ride this train until it goes full The Lone Ranger on them.

Your old, and its only going to get worse the older you get

t. 23 Y/O neet

What people refer to as the "Disney Dark Age" are their animated films between Walt's death and 1988, not their direct-to-video sequels from a decade later.
Besides, the "Dark Age" is something people came up with after the fact. The Black Cauldron was the only true flop out of all of them, The Rescuers and Oliver & Company were considered box office hits until The Little Mermaid blew them out of the water.

>all these early to mid 20's anons acting like they're old
Thanks for the laughs anons.

Your youth ends at 25, that is a FACT.

>there were no children in 1941
Ok.

>Jafar doesn’t even turn into a giant snake

This movie is garbage. GARBAGE.

It's 60 percent again guys

to extend the copy right?

They're intentionally getting people pissed at live action so when they do another DUH FIRST 2D DISNEY MOVIE IN A GAJILLION YEARS marketing ploy like Princess and the Frog people will actually go out and see it this time.

lol

They wont, nostalgia sells. I mean I don’t know how well these movies are doing, but I imagine that’s their reasoning.

Because Cinderella, Jungle Book and Beauty & the Beast made a lot of money while Pete's Dragon and Dumbo made it's budgets back?

That's not it because the only one of these movies that would be anywhere near expiring copyright is Dumbo. No, it's just to make cheap nostalgiabucks.

The only way for them to really consider slowing down would be if Lion King is Rotten and underperforms

SEETHING BOOMER

They funnel hundreds of millions of dollars into junk projects like these so that they don't have to pay any taxes. All of the money goes to friends and relatives of the board members and their families so it's not like they lose anything.

Its now 61 now. I told you shills running late.

Not pictured: enormous sums of money that Disney is making from these films

Attached: it be like it is.jpg (512x512, 89K)

lmao

That's why they're angry. It's like Rob Schenider moves or Transformers. No one likes them, but they make tons of money regardless.

Why aren't they bribing critics for positive reviews for these movies like they do their capeshit films?

Because there's no need to. No matter how much your remake movie sucks, people WILL watch it because of nostalgia for the older movies.

>leave massah Disney alone he dindunothing you ingrate nazi

you are naive to belive the box office numbers goes 100% in their pocket. It's closer to 30% actually.

Alladin gonna get wrecked at the box office next week

Attached: Godzilla_Hanna_Barbera_1.png (777x786, 410K)

Two of those are flops

Dumbo bombed though so no

If I had to guess, the people who like this shit aren't normally the people writing newspaper reviews and voting on RottenTomatoes. That's why the score is low (it really should be lower) but the money keeps flowing because the population of people who write the reviews does not reflect the population of people who pay to see this crap.

You know what, I take that back. The movies are competently made, that's worth 50% at least. There are worse movies that get better reviews.

it doesnt matter because lion king will be at least 65% and make a bajillion dollors who fucking cares disney will continue to pump out dreck they cancelled gigantic fuck them forever

Remake the Black Cauldron pussies.

Pic related will never be remade despite it being one of the few films that would deserve a proper reimagining

>HBO presents.. Game of Cauldrons

Would be better if Disney didnt stick their thumb in that pie again, I watched deleted footage and apparently in the uncut version, there were animated dudes with their flesh melting off their animated faces, and then rising as undead puppets. Was supposed to be super dark, until some buisness fuck who worked mainly in TV sitcoms got a hold of it, and tried editing it to his own whims. Problem with a lot of works is they get muddled and watered down by the big heads because it's harder to market authenticity and uniqueness than it is to stick to generic tropes and genres.

youtube.com/watch?v=JbUU7belYIU

I'd like to see them try to redo Pinocchio, but I know they would fuck it up and not have 6 year olds drinking and smoking

Did the Disney bribe not work this time?

You're an idiot if you think making 2x-5x the budget in all but the worst performing one they've done makes these movies a failure.

Pfff, Current day Disney would Make Arthur a woman or something like that

Yah you got me.

Attached: Ex.png (680x383, 76K)

The only one that could be considered "underperforming" is Through the Looking Glass, every other one made twice the budget or more, and even that couldn't remotely be called a flop, at worst it broke even.

This.

If they can make more money making shit, they'll make shit, and nichefags will never get Oswald back.

that's how capitalism works, Yea Forumsnsumer. Your purpose in life is to pay bills and get cajoled into signing up for more monthly services. To Disney, you're even more worthless than employees.

Attached: angry-ozzie.png (220x234, 6K)

According to this, it lost them a good $70 million
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_biggest_box-office_bombs

It's a Springtime for Hitler scheme. Disney has so much money and needs to put out X number of movies per year, so this makes it the perfect victim for (((executive producers))) to get paid to make utter shit without consequence.

I heard some people theorize that remaking this stuff prevents it from going into the public domain like Mickey

Attached: b4f.jpg (569x428, 25K)

Fuck no. If it got remade today it'd get turned into yet another Lord of the Rings style fantasy war film, just like the Nutcracker was. The fact is that modern Hollywood movies are fucking repetitive trash that follow the same script with minor deviations. Something something three act hero's journey, something something CGI battle at the end.

Just imagine a well animated black cauldron tv series.

Attached: 1537851751712.png (656x494, 736K)

Not all of the box office goes directly back to the filmmakers, domestic theaters get their own cut and international theaters (especially China) take an even bigger cut. If your budget is in the hundreds of millions and you don't make at least double that then there's a good chance the movie is a flop.

Prydain's already on Disney's to do list of remakes.

Like all of Hollywood, it's about trying to milk money out of the Chinese market. They don't give a shit about old 2D animation, so these remakes are about giving them their own versions of the classics. Alice is even represented by the Burtonland movies at Shanghai Disney.

God, "Oliver and Company" was such a shitty and forgettable film. It's "Home on the Range" tier for me.

>just like in the original

Attached: aladdin-disneyscreencaps.com-5765.jpg (1920x1080, 169K)

Considering people get up in arms about literal villains smoking, I can't see it happening

/biz/ here. I own stock in Disney and here's their financial plans as far as has been reported.

They don't have a lot of cash on hand due to their spending sprees. Star Wars has already paid for itself and was a good investment, as they're opening Star Wars land in Disneyland and initially they won't charge a separate fee to go there but that's going to change; the amusement park side of Disney is doing great . No, they need to make back what they spent on FOX and already they're slimming down the FOX side of the merger by firing redundant jobs, but they haven't done anything substantial yet.

They also are aggressively pushing for streaming, but they haven't yet done most of the legwork in integrating ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform (what used to be Fox Family). It's a massive expenditure and goal is for Disney is to pay for their streaming but also to eventually put out numerous Disney-owned blockbusters a year. They're not making these live-action remakes for the art, they know they're forgettable, they're not even marketing the new stuff. They're making a buck off of nostalgia and so far it's been mostly successful with Dumbo the only true box office bomb. Disney knows they're going to have to put out something remarkable to stand a chance at upsetting Netflix and Amazon.

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-05-22 at 9.20.20 PM.png (1128x910, 1.06M)

but they were/are classics because they're timeless and genuinely great movies with wonderful heartfelt musical numbers. these new remakes are not any of this.

but the point of the drinking and smoking gambling and whatever else the other kids make him do, was to show that it was not something good. Which is still the same message we want for kids today, which is why people don't like villians that smoke because it's often done in a way to add to the 'cool' factor of the villain, which sends the wrong message.

I know it isn’t Yea Forums, but my dream is that the new star war movie gets panned and tanks. It’s the only thing I have ever really wanted in this life.

That's silly. Arthur? As a woman? There's no money to be had there. Absolutely none at all.

Attached: saber-f.jpg (1137x640, 35K)

Has Star Wars paid for itself? Shouldn’t they be around “breaking even” right now?

Can you imagine Hollywood adaptating Fate?

Should Disney do Cape movies only from now on?

I hope they make it a trilogy and adapt T.H. White's entire Arthur story. I fucking love King Arthur.

lion king will be in the high 80s/90s because the press will think it's woke for casting donglover and beyonce thots will declare it the greatest thing ever

it sucks because aladdin/lion king were both responsible for the disney renaissance being so beastly

Al going from cocky and assertive to looking awkward and insecure

This, it should be the period where Disney's at their most creative because they can afford to be, nor at their most soulless out of greed.

Attached: 1474313246088.png (121x145, 36K)

Easier than you'd expect

>yfw Disney gets btfo by kaiju kino

Attached: D7Dd_C5UYAA3QZt.jpg (1378x2031, 283K)

photorealism and its 3d technique fucking suck. both kids and adults dont really value it. only hollywood and art schools cling to it.

Unfortunatly that is not how it works, they built their empire on the creative works their teams came up but now they are worried more about keeping all the money they gained during that time by pandering all demographics they can, that's what we are seeing now.

It'll flop like Dumbo too. Nobody's excited for this movie except to clown on it, and they're releasing at the same time that Detective Pikachu and John Wick 3 are out, and Avengers Endgame is still in theaters. What the fuck are they thinking?

For the sake of my sanity, I hope not. My wife would never hear the end of it.

Attached: sword_in_the_stone_by_sukreih-d4q4xef.jpg (800x892, 159K)

>It'll flop like Dumbo too.
It just had it's opening day here. It's doing worse than Detective Pikachu is in it's second weekend. This is the last showing that just started. It doesn't look like a strong start to me

Attached: 4104701.png (628x795, 125K)

And the final showing for Pikachu. That's 20 for Aladdin, 33 for DP. JUST

Attached: 5065025.png (629x734, 103K)

You have the Godzilla Batman one?

>Chadladdin VS Virgin in the Rough

It'd be a different kind of shit from most adaptations, but still shit like all the others. So nothing Fatefags haven't dealt with before.

if not the fight between which girl is best, it's the VN vs anime-only vs gacha fans. Personally, GrandOrder has done worse to typemoon than everything else.

Attached: 1546747866014.jpg (2560x2522, 1.4M)

It would be more realistic that Netflix adapt it, Death Note style. I can see Artoria looking like a Furiosa if they couldn't find an androgynous actress that would look boyish with the medieval coconut head cut.

It’ll be fresh because black people. British Arabs are a bit too white for critics to be concerned about wokeness

Time goes faster as you get older.

Both looks shit
