Half the cast is supposed to be way older than they are. This one takes place in 1992, not only should Xavier and Magneto be past middle age, but they're not that far timeframe-wise from where Stewart and McKellen started. The first movie was made in 2000 but takes place in like 2005 I think. It'd be funny if the series had one more installment taking place in the 2000's and those two still look like they're in their early 40's

Juggernaut was in X3 and Deadpool 2. Deadpool 2 version will probably stand unless they do a full reboot due to Deadpool's popularity and critical acclaim.

I think the problem is that it's centered around Sophie Turner. She's as exciting as mud and there doesn't seem to be much else new, so all we really have to look forward to is retread of the way X3 handled the Phoenix, except replacing Famke Janssen with someone less attractive and less talented.

Quicksilver is a fun supporting character, but he can't carry his own movie.

The Quick Silver scenes are fun but this kind of misses the point of what made them fun.

As an outspoken Pietrofag I’ve more or less become resigned to the idea that the Fox Quicksilver is basically Ultimate Quicksilver in powerset with a completely different characters personality. Which is fine but it’s weird for me to see casuals day this is the best version of the character when that’s not even close to any other version’s personality.

Also whoever decided to set a Phoenix movie on Earth rather than giving fans a GotG tier space opera with the Shi’Ar and Imperial Guard are complete idiots and deserve all the bad box office and critical review scores coming their way.

Didn't those leaks from the test previews all basically say Dark Phoenix is terrible and really anti-climactic? At least the New Mutants might be fun in that it's a total trainwreck rather than just boring.

Hell, he barely even counts as a supporting character. Aside from his bullet time effects spectacle scenes, there really isn't anything to him.

I think it's fine, his powers are good but they have the obvious drawbacks of he's only useful in situations he can physically traverse and is physically fit enough to move.
So it's not that difficult to create conflicts that counter his abilities to at the very least he has to be clever to get around them.
But in the end what made him the show stealer in the other two movies was they just made a really fun set piece around his powers that was less the typical generic capeshit power displays, which is a mentality they should extend to the rest of the cast but always stop short at him. I mean that's kind of why Nightcrawler's first scene in X2 was so cool too. X-men's greatest strength should be that it has some real diversity of powers that could really be shown off in cool ways, but they always manage to make it underwhelming outside a few characters in the good movies.

This. That was basically his only scene in DOFP and then he fucks off. In Apocalypse he just magically shows up at the exact point when he's needed just to have a cheaper re-do of his DOFP scene, then he just kind of hangs around without adding much to the movie. I get the feeling that's all he'll be good for in DP too, just have his one big scene and then spend the movie just kind of being there.

Him being Mags son was pretty important. I liked him getting fucked by Apocalypse too. But it was a retread of DOFP for the most part.

It wasn't. Nothing came of it. Magneto still didn't know by the end of the movie and it was basically a point of trivia for Peter.

It played no part in the story and didn't play any kind of role in the development of either character.

I'm pretty positive Magneto knew at the end of the film but fuck it I'm not rewatching it.

Probably in the same way they are handling their version of Spider-man by purposefully not repeating ideas that were hammered to death in the prior two on screen iteration of the character for new ideas. If the MCU did do the X-Men I'd probably expect
