Why Is Flash Conservative
Jacob Bailey
Nathan Russell
Unless discussion is going to primarily revolve around material derived from the comics, which I doubt.
Daniel Bell
Oliver is one of those white guiltridden liberals who always takes the oppressed minority sides on everything.
All of Barry’s friends are cops, he was raised by a cop. Whenever shade is thrown at the CCPD for police brutality or racial bias (are there any black rogues?) he’s going to have a cop bias.
Colton White
He’s a bush conservative, not a radical conservative
Evan Smith
Isn't Hal also a conservative, or am I misremembering?
Landon Rivera
Are there any moderate superheroes who don’t pick a side and just vote?
Zachary Bailey
Yeah, in Green Lantern/Green Arrow. But I’m all honesty, Hal is very non-political.
Kayden Thompson
Doesn't Superman make a point not to make endorsements?
Colton Cruz
Not this shit again.
Grayson James
*in
Matthew Wilson
While that was what O'Neil and Adams were going for I'd say Hal was more not liberal in that arc than he was conservative, if that makes any sense.
Aiden Richardson
That sounds good, but I’m pretty sure that main Earth Superman is a casual socialist
Nicholas Taylor
Sebastian Wright
This is from a KFC crossover comic.
Kayden Wright
Can’t be real bruv
Jacob Harris
Why is Ollie trying to start shit with the Flash. He could stick that arrow up his butt faster than he could blink.
Aaron Wright
Name a single better promotional crossover in any medium.
You can't.
Wyatt Wright
Johns depicted Central and Keystone as extremely blue collar cities that take a lot of pride in their industry, so it makes sense that Barry would grow up with the typical mindsets you see among the blue collar: importance of the individual/family over community, dislike of regulation, respect for authority and structure, etc.
Note that this doesn't mean he's a religious zealot or a racist or would subscribe to any cg, alt-right garbage. He just wouldn't side with Ollie on issues of welfare and economics.
Not a conservative, just clueless to anything going on outside his life. GL/GA was all about Ollie showing Hal all the injustice going on in the country that he wasn't aware of.
Hal's a person who's spent his whole life on air force bases away from the rest of society. On a base, pretty much everyone is equal outside of designated authority, people dress the same, live in the same conditions, etc. so even though he knew plenty of minorities he'd never be aware of any economic inequalities or racism in the "real world".
Camden Johnson
get back in the oven
Adam Myers
Ollie in GL/GA was like fuck the universe only look at earth. Dude was and is a retard
Gabriel Hill
That was more of O'Neil not knowing how to write Hal and just had him react to Ollie instead of trying to have Hal have a concrete political opinion of something.
Jason James
He's a midwestern hick
Alexander Allen
because such an abrasive display of the disparity in power levels would break any sense of immersive fantasy for the lonely male demographic
Daniel King
Is this why Wally had to die recently?
Isaiah Cruz
lol holy shit is this real?
Ayden Evans
It's a crossover
Brayden Ramirez
See
Robert Phillips
It's an evil chicken joint that competes with the totally good and flawless KFC
Christopher Green
Meh, Guy is more of a conservative than Hal.
Bentley Campbell
Not all Bush are created equal.
Grayson Baker
Isn't his city a stand in for Kansas City thus making him a Missourian
Kayden Brooks
>All of Barry’s friends are cops, he was raised by a cop. Whenever shade is thrown at the CCPD for police brutality or racial bias (are there any black rogues?) he’s going to have a cop bias.
well until fairly recently that wasn't such a republican bloc. but yeah there's quite a bit about barry's background that makes him more likely to be republican
Joshua Taylor
although he was a social worker
Kevin Allen
*is a monarchist*
Lincoln Hall
And Ron Swanson (who was based off a real woman) works for the Parks Department. It can happen.
Sebastian Perry
yeah it definitely adds something to his character
Nathan Rogers
Even though I'm not a right-wing guy I still love Guy.
Owen Watson
Why'd they make Barry look evil here?
Grayson Fisher
100%, the only bit of editing is that the bottom panel is from the top of the next page.
Andrew Turner
It was in the middle of DCYou, when most everyone was getting a different costume.
Tyler Gomez
He's always starting shit. Does anyone have that page where Ollie, Barry and Hal are at a diner and Ollie just starts shit for no reason?
Jason Butler
Mark Waid was a terrible writer?
Easton Morris
Lmao can’t they see they’re both literally the same
Jacob Myers
Ill post all of Ollie's retardation in that issue
Isaac Brown
>he was raised by a cop.
No, Henry Allen was a doctor.
Nolan Mitchell
Camden Murphy
Jack Stewart
Levi Wright
Austin King
He's like DBZA tenshinhan. He can claim moral victory if they other loses his cool and uses physical force to retaliate.
Nolan Martin
It's kinda funny that hippie Ollie was originally supposed to be O'Neil's mouthpiece more or less but ended up just being an asshole. And I say that as a liberal.
Ryder Perez
Ollie is an accurate portrayal. I see people who speak like him on tv a lot
Nolan Watson
I wouldn't exactly say so. The moment that turned me against him was when he slapped Speedy for doing heroin and then immediately thought to himself that his basically abandoning Speedy couldn't have had anything to do with it. That's not something most liberals (or conservatives, to be fair) I know would do. Ollie is an asshole because he's an asshole.
Benjamin Richardson
I know he's an asshole but I wasn't talking about that I was talking about the way he speaks or rather the way he presents his arguments. I see it a lot
Jordan Roberts
Well the manner in which he speaks isn't what I was talking about when calling him an asshole in the post that started this string of replies.
Jayden Gonzalez
My bad
Asher Perez
>You MUST see the injustices! It's everywhere!
You know, this is a really shitty argument. He's acting he's the only one who can see the injustices, that no one else knows anything about people not being able to eat and big bad companies ruining the environment, but he's yet to make a solid point on what to do and how to deal with this. He's just yelling at wind expecting everything to be peachy keen once everyone's joining his choir, but that's not how it works. Real working adults know and understand this reality, some more than others, but it's not something you should say unless you have a solution in mind that the community can do
>The police should figure something out! It's their job, instead of dealing with an unregistered vehicle!
The police have set duties and responsibilities. They don't make the law. They don't decide what to do with the community.
The unregistered vehicle poses a threat to society. What if it carried a bomb? An illegal immigrant (No ID = No trail = No one could expect to find them before they might strike again) which could terrorize a small convenience store? What if the car was ancient and the inner mechanisms were fucked, which ended up speeding forward randomly and killing pedestrians? It only takes one bad carrot to spoil the broth, to which it would only lead to people complaining again about how the police aren't doing their jobs.
I'm not saying that liberals are terrible, but Ollie's arguments are total dogshit and lack enough structure to stand on its own. It's pretty fucking easy to complain.
Andrew Kelly
GET THIS HOTHEAD OUTTA HERE
Ethan Lopez
Isn't Ollie really rich? Why doesn't he do anything to help?
Parker Sanders
It was a plot point in GL/GA that he lost his wealth. Don't know when pic related was supposed to take place.
Dominic Nelson
Being a social worker is more than enough to make anybody despise liberals. Liberals vote for the policies that make social workers necessary; the social workers themselves are the ones who have to wade through the shit.
Brandon Ramirez
well since liberals nowadays deny basic biology doe to their feminist and trans ideology that would make that field pretty conservative as well
Jeremiah Martin
First post cucked post
Mason Reyes
>ended up just being an asshole
Well personally i like that about Ollie.
John Reyes
Alexander Edwards
Barrys Dad was framed by Professor Zoom after he killed Barrys mom.
Barry was raised by Darryl Fyre who was a cop.
Levi Powell
>Real working adults know and understand this reality, some more than others, but it's not something you should say unless you have a solution in mind that the community can do
Yeah, but a lot of people with decent income just turn a blind eye and pretend those things don't exist or affect them personally so they don't have to do anything because it's inconvenient and uncomfortable and then never do anything about it, like voting for people who advocate social programs, etc. to fix issues in society.
Austin Gray
Yeah, people like cops know biology and medical conditions better than the actual professional physicians of the field!
Lincoln Edwards
Most superheroes are probably are.
Levi Gray
>dislike of regulation, respect for authority and structure
That's a pretty big contradiction
Jose Mitchell
13 do 50.
Gabriel Murphy
It's the conservative mindset. Regulations are bad because red tape and nanny stateism infringes on muh freedom, but any authority figure should not be questioned, ever.
Kayden Hall
Imagine unironically posting this.
Nolan Turner
Ollie is kind of a dick, isn't he?
Oliver Lee
Yes
Carter Rodriguez
>Over 50% of the American population is Conservative
>OP gets buttblasted and furious if even so much as ONE character in a comic is presented as a Conservative and not a hive-minded Liberal
Naturally.
Jeremiah Garcia
I bet that Hal wouldn't even know or care who the last 3 presidents of USA were if you asked him
Henry Lewis
Fucking based
Thomas Phillips
USA! USA! USA!
Julian Baker
Flash was raised by cops and hate Yellow and Black colored people, of course he would be a conservative.
Joshua Peterson
I mean he IS a cop. Forensic department but he's a man who trusts the law.
Hudson Green
But is he part of the blue wall of silence?
Noah Cruz
Hal is the kinda guy who would never bother to register to vote. He ignores all politics until people talk about them around him and then he just quietly hopes a crisis happens before people ask for his opinion on the military occupation of Bialia.
Alexander Cox
Always
Angel Hughes
Wasn’t Guy a reaganist?
