Thing is, Toriyama's style actually *is* easier to animate than other manga styles, especially the more SD stuff like early DB and Dr. Slump. Same could technically be said of One Piece which has a rubbery art style, and I'm not just talking about Luffy. But in both cases they just balance economy and style details opposed to sacrificing detail entirely.

They're classic character archetypes and their qualities shine through no matter what art style they're rendered in, I'd say that's a hallmark of good character design.
Also, rainbow hair is pretty on-brand for Bobby. If this show were made in, say, 2012, there'd probably be an episode where Bobby tries to emulate queer culture and Hank has to snap him out of it (similar to the episode where Bobby dabbles in paganism)

But seriously, this is gold. If you want the core audience of this shit to be less enthusiastic about the calarts art style, make and post more of that and spread it everywhere. Creates an association between the trigger for an emotional defense response with the art style itself. The more obnoxious a certain crowd becomes in showing it to cartoon fans, the more the fascination fades.
