In large portions of the US, abstinence is the only form of sex education provided. I had to go out of my way to learn about contraceptives and all that jazz and I still feel very uneducated on the subject.

We don't yet live in a world where we can 100% guarantee that people don't have kids. Accidents happen to everyone, especially when it comes to sex, famous for heavily impairing judgement and ruining lives. Maybe one day technology will somehow allow it so that we don't live in a world where people are constantly accidentally having babies, but until then, women should be able to control whether or not they want their early term pregnancies to develop into a person.
