Haha, time for more off-brand Amazons!

today was a bad day for comics

what was bad today?

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p02.jpg (982x1511, 330K)

my god, that finger

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p03.jpg (992x1508, 358K)

And Grunge has his day!

Hello, Storyteller.

Ah yes, the Indiana Jones font, for when you want to kick subtlety right in the crotch.

It's always a bad day for comics.

His latent power is Mr. Fantastic stretching?

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p04.jpg (980x1501, 369K)

I have this one too. I purged a lot of this sort of stuff from my collection, but kept all these and Savage Dragon (1-100 or so).

lol walking right up to a house like that

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p05.jpg (965x1473, 510K)

Poor, poor, Roxy

everything pretty much, I've become dejected from Big 2 stuff recently

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p06.jpg (991x1517, 406K)

Is that Oswald I spot?

I hear you. I’m all about old comics these days.

Roxy's fine, she's not lusting after the Alphabet Agency minion that's old enough to be her father. Who was, in fact, in a kill squad with her father.
I'm just going to imagine Lynch was the youngest of the group, makes things less fucky.

lean into how wrong it is, it's the only way

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p07.jpg (988x1525, 451K)

And oh boy does it lean!

don't worry, only three months until Marvel #1000 saves the industry

It's okay for her to have a crush...now if he reciprocates however....

Lynch is the wildstorm universe’s John Byrne.

I don't wanna harp on it till it becomes a meme like Vision/Omega Men, but Immortal Hulk really is just plain good comics that could have come straight out of 80's Marvel in a lot of ways.
It uses past continuity to its advantage while also pushing the characters into new places, it's building a longterm story, arcs last exactly as long as they need to from a monthly perspective rather than stretching out to graphic novel length, and I've felt satisfied with the story of each issue as its own while still getting excited for the next one.

It really reminds me of 80's Spectacular Spider-Man. Goes to dark places with very little pretension. Also at the risk of sounding hyperbolic, it has a little bit of Alan Moore with the author's own literary interests infusing the comic with personality.

Not gonna hype it as some masterpiece, but it's the type of comic I wish there were at least three or four of per publisher per month, the level of quality I think should be the bar being shot for.

Along with Black Cat #1, Marvel will manage to have TWO million sellers!

That's what we used to say about Babs.

Okay, let's actually examine this. How old is Caitlin? If she's legal, then fine, her being interested in someone older is not an issue. If she IS underage, then frankly, the problem is with the writer/artist, who are presenting Caitlin as fanservice bait along with the rest of the cast. Let's not miss the forest for the trees here.

Hi thread! I haven’t read any of this weeks comics but I’m finally caught up with the exceptions of War of Realms and X-men stuff!!

What’s the deal with Black cat 1 is it a comic gate thing?

I'll catch up on that eventually

Aye, for me there's only been one black mark with Immortal Hulk, but overall it's been the exact kind of self-contained and completely committed run I've been wanting in forever.

I’ve looked at it off and on. I think i need to see it in print. Hopefully it lasts long enough to get an omni.

I've tried it, it's not for me
Meet the Skrulls is alright though

Oh shit, the pages are out of order and not all of them have page numbers, ugh.

I see you're back to your old bullshit, cranky. I'm pretty positive at this point you have a legit mental illness.

Okay, this looks more right

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p19-20.jpg (1958x1528, 731K)

I assumed they were all about 18-20
everyone loves JSC

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p13.jpg (959x1517, 425K)

It's getting a 10 issue "Deluxe" in October.
I'm glad I waited because the singular trade was fucking hackjob.

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p14.jpg (978x1510, 407K)

this is a great page

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p15.jpg (990x1505, 374K)

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p16.jpg (942x1518, 364K)

JSC truly knows his horny audience

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p17.jpg (982x1518, 285K)

I can't believe Ewing went from the guy who got all his series canned to outselling fucking Batman.
That says a lot about King too though.

I’m furious bc that I still wanna buy trades to support it but I want the good collections. I hope it’s doing safely, Ewing getting 1000 makes me think it is

does the letterer do the CRASH

I am astounded that Mister Miracle got an amazing looking hardcover and the immensely better (if only still just okay) New 52 Forever People never got collected.

Wildstorm characters initially aged in real time, I saw them as being late high school age (17-18) in 1994 when the series began which would have made them in their mid 20s when the series ended

Marvel's taken the wrong lessons from Image with the idea that five issues is a reasonable size for a trade.
Unfortunately DC's done that a couple times too

iconic

The mr miracle dislike on Yea Forums is the outlier. Gotta accept it

I still don’t know how I feel about that mini

I'm not astounded at all, regardless of actual quality the series was legit popular and even increased sales as it went on, which hasn't happened in the Big Two in like forever

>Forever People will never be fun again
not fair

>outselling fucking Batman
The numbers are slightly fucky. It had a second printing that month, and there was an option for a 1:25 wraparound cover.
One store by me had four people who wanted it, so they had to order 100 copies to get four.
Those people were charged the equivalent of 25 regular copies for it.

Exactly, I might hate the third arc, but I was still gonna do my part.
The cover didn't even "cover" the page cut!
It was just sticking out.
Jesus.

Yeah, but at least Ewing seems to be keeping it episodic in a sense, so that helps.

Yeah, pretty sure Caitlin was shown as being in college at the start.

>she even looks right the fucking camera with a "wah wah" expression
I certainly hope she's of age, because this would be pretty awful otherwise.

... Who am I kidding, this is still cringey as fuck.

Image prices them cheaper and they're usually on sale too, so it's more understandable, they're basically creating gateway trades for new readers

Sort of, boomer speculators have the usual interest in it because of 1) being a #1 related to Spider-Man, which always sell really well with specs and 2) being J. Scott Campbell who's one of the classic big sellers of variant covers because people like to buy cheesecake, but at the same time some of said speculators are artificially hyping it to increase value, so some loony toon cg-ers picked up on this and are trying to use it as "evidence" that SEE SEX AND ONLY SEX SELLS, THIS PROVES THAT ONLY PERVS BUY COMICS AND SJWS DON'T!!! WE WON GUYS

So just typical industry nonsense nobody who actually reads comics to read comics and not to either posture or make money cares about

On the one hand I'm very glad quality is being recognized, but on the other I know that a huge portion of the sales is the usual vultures knowing this run will become "seminal" and therefore back issues/complete collections will go for big buck$ later on, and Marvel preying upon that with scummy variant shit. The comics food chain continues on.

Vertigo was the one that made that the standard I think, Y the Last Man was the first series I remember like that.

You're cringy

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p18.jpg (957x1499, 408K)

this spread makes SENSE here

also lol it's time for Wildstorm's Not Amazons

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p11-12.jpg (1975x1527, 852K)

and now for something slightly different

how are you owls today?

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p21.jpg (972x1521, 240K)

They discontinued their "first trade is $10" policy late last year. We don't have the 2018 bookscan breakdown from Hibbs yet, but Image had a really bad 2017.

Bad, my landlord told me he wants me to check this rat trap in the attic
Plus Survivor finale is tonight and the guy I'm rooting against is going to win

has Campbell ever done Wonder Woman

Quoted wrong post

For real? That sucks

AFAIK just as part of some covers for Justice League of America

>that dialogue
Ugh. Speaking of cringe...

Fine, I guess. You?

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p22.jpg (975x1502, 390K)

I've been on a downswing but I think I'm coming up out of it finally

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p24.jpg (957x1405, 406K)

this fun stuff is why I think Gen13 should be brought back constantly

He only did one cover for that book

Yeah, looking at July 2019
>Die!Die!Die Vol 1
>8 issues
>$19.99

>Vindication
>4 issues
>$12.99
June 2019
>Hardcore vol 1
>5 issues
>$14.99
Oh cool, they're reprinting Heavy Liquid. Looks like Pope retained the rights from Vertigo. I missed the last few months of solicitations
May 2019
>Bitter Root vol 1
>5 issues
>$16.99

Alright, looks like Gillen's Die will be $9.99

>Outer Darkness vol 1
>6 issues
>$16.99

>Paradox Girl vol 1
>6 issues
>$19.99

this almost XD style is so much fun in contrast to the main style

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p26.jpg (976x1520, 457K)

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p27.jpg (971x1492, 367K)

nice, he should do more

The worst part of working Wednesday’s is missing survivor

Oh yeah, this is the guy the Ninja Turtles fans hated

Die has been a good seller and Gillen does well with trades so I guess there's a bit more confidence in that front
Speaking of Pope, I hope THB gets reprinted some day

it shows their core designs/personalities could be translated in almost every style, even so early on

He can't, the title ended 8 years ago. I think DC did some sort of reboot thing, kinda obscure. I think it was on TV once or something.

I think they were doing the whole loss leader thing but it wasn't really profitable for most smaller creators, only Kirkman, Gillen, BKV, Rucka can do it

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p28.jpg (983x1503, 364K)

That's good. [insert generic encouragement here].

Also, the fuck is this shit?

... No, seriously. What.

yeah, the difference in Image-viability for Big Names and J. Random Creator is absolutely huge

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p29.jpg (963x1510, 387K)

lame, I like his Clark

it's FUN, Cranky

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p30.jpg (971x1506, 449K)

lol at the dudebro mad Rainmaker is a lesbian

Attached: Gen13_v1_03_p31.jpg (972x1513, 346K)

>no fun allowed

holy shit, that angry letter writer????

hometownsource.com/forest_lake_times/free/forest-lake-native-comic-pro-launches-writing-debut

it's THAT Gleason!

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_cover.jpg (969x1529, 463K)

We all know how it goes down in CALIFORNIA

I wonder if it’s still more profitable. I know Gillen said he made more from WicDiv than Marvel but I dunno how much is his name and how much is marvel underpaying

DIE is really good I’m excited for more

bet he wouldn't want anyone to post that on the internet now!

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p01.jpg (972x1517, 403K)

>COLE
Oh man, he worked with Griffles?

>404

Not a good look my dude. Wonder how old he was

WAAAAAAT
Hahah holy fuck!

I found it too.

boo, link didn't copy

Basically a story about him that confirms the hometown, so it could still not be him, but odds are low

Griffles was in Team 7, yeah

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p02-03.jpg (1473x1959, 882K)

Looks like THB was last printed a decade ago.
I've seen a battered copy of 100% sitting at a LCS. I wonder if I should grab it just in case it never gets reprinted

holy shit no way
please someone spam this on twitter

lmfao I was just about to crack a joke but real life really is that weird
I wonder if anyone's ever brought it up to him

To be fair, it was the mid 90s and he'd probably be mortified now and I'm not interested in going after anyone like that. It just hopped out at me!

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p04.jpg (951x1489, 444K)

what does Paul Pope do to like make money these days

Yeah confused him with I think Michael Turner? who did the other 90's-ass covers

This is how must have felt like when someone found that Johns Headcanon Letter.

wills it into existence via von Mises worship, who knows

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p05.jpg (965x1496, 388K)

fuck him for pushing Damian and Jon while being a homophobe

these are both big deals to me I'm squealing

Holy moley that is insane.
Also that response is pure fucking gold.

Searching "Patrick Gleason" into google, and google thinks he's 60. How it decides that, who knows

Ahhhhh, lowest common denominator sex jokes, love 'em

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p06.jpg (964x1504, 420K)

I need to know whether he read the rest of Gen13
and whether he felt vindicated later on

It's actually possible for people to change their thoughts and opinions as they grow older, I know that's really weird to imagine in this day and age.

Yeah, I was in a similar boat as a kid, and nowadays I'm probably too SJWy for Yea Forums
Google says he was born in 1950 but that's obviously bullshit so not a clue

so he was writing this as a grown up, older than I am now

Y'know, odds are decent that same idiot posts on Yea Forums to this very days bitching about DA SJWs.

I mean, yeah, but it makes me feel high.

yeah, a lot of people changed on this front. It's hard to overstate how much it's changed in pop culture since this book was published, even.

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p07.jpg (963x1529, 495K)

he's a flyover state inbred loser who hated lesbians, fuck him

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p08.jpg (992x1508, 459K)

Dude, there's no way he's almost 70. Have you seen the guy?

fap fap fap fap

that's a woman with a goal

a sexy goal

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p09.jpg (964x1519, 465K)

has he ever drawn gay characters?

Patrick Gleason, the artist?

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p10.jpg (977x1490, 430K)

Yup, scroll down

I seem to recall his issues of GLC with Natu and that princess to be very gay, but neither of the two are supposed to be

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p11.jpg (968x1505, 494K)

I live in incredibly red Texas yet am not a hick Republican

now that is a meet cute

>I like that.
Aww Jeez, Grunge ain't the only one getting some.

BTW in a few weeks we should be on a THREE storytime a week schedule because some dumbass (me) volunteered for some mornings

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p13.jpg (963x1500, 411K)

>never been much of a believer
>But I'm telling you, God,
There's a verse about this whoreshit.

I'm still enjoying Lucifer, even if it is mostly for the art.
They're using Not-Spectre right now. Specifically, the angel of vengeance who Gaiman named in The Books of Magic, but then Ostrander gave the Spectre a different name in his ongoing.

Marvel #1000 is honestly the worst name ever, it should had been just Marvel 80th anniversary

Calling Marvel #1000 is actually a show of weakness

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p14.jpg (973x1521, 425K)

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p15.jpg (970x1501, 397K)

it says in the article he was a kid in the 70s/80s
working in comic shop in the 90s met Mahnke and became his assistant

Still not as dumb as DC 1 000 000
No

Deadpool 1000 came out like a decade ago

>Soranik and Iolande
>not supposed to be gay
I call bullshit. Soranik giving Iolande her GL ring may as well have been a proposal scene. Those two have more pure sapphic energy than all the Star Sapphires combined.

>BEAUTIFUL WOMEN DON'T JUST FALL FROM THE SKY!

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p17.jpg (971x1512, 412K)

Ok, so he was probably born in the early 70's, that's 2 decades more than Google assumes

Hey. Coming in late.

HI user

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p18.jpg (955x1500, 397K)

It's laughably pathetic, but it's about what I expect considering Marvel staff seem to repeat the company lines as if the executives are sitting nearby with their fingers on the Dr. Evil-style trap door chair buttons.

These are the people who said without a hint of irony that variant covers were going to change the industry.

DC One Million made sense since it was set in a future date in which Action Comics #1,000,000 would come out.
On the other hand, Marvel #1000 makes no sense since it isn't even referring to any specific series or issues, it makes even less sense than the fucky Legacy number and is even more hilarious when you realize it's going to be released as Marvel #1000 #1.

Howdy user

For a smart girl, Caitlyn is pretty dumb.

>makes no sense since it isn't even referring to any specific series or issues
but it is
>Marvel Comics #1
>October 1939

>DC One Million made sense since
no it didn't

so, did they screw?

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p19.jpg (964x1499, 423K)

So where's Marvel (Mystery) Comics #93 to #999?

Is she playing pocket pool? And coming on to the maid?

where's Action Comics #950?

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p20-21.jpg (1521x1963, 871K)

>He got you all hot and bothered didn't he?

I agree, Gen13, Lolita would be better if Lolita was a stacked amazon who could deadlift a Buick.

how do I make a poster of this and give it to my 12 year old self

I'll give you that but still, that series changed names with the very next issue, hasn't been published in perpetuity as Action was, and even if it was it still wouldn't be at issue 1,000.

(granted, Action only was because of at times being a weekly and at times double shipping, but still, Action has 1,000 published issues, Marvel Comics has 159, being generous.)

>Action Comics 1000 had exactly ZERO good stories
so who cares

If you want to go the legacy numbering route then Marvel Mystery Comics is retitled Marvel Tales and runs all the way to #159, with Marvel Tales vol 2 that goes up to #450. There is no Marvel Comics vol 2, Marvel Mystery Comics vol 2 or Marvel Tales vol 3, so that's where it stops.

I live in incredibly blue Massachusetts yet we have hick Republicans.

>moving the goalposts

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p22.jpg (964x1512, 247K)

They should've just called it the 80th anniversary special or something. At least it would've been more "honest".

rural Mass is wild, sometimes

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p23.jpg (991x1504, 365K)

Take the comic to kinkos then get a time machine.

You might argue that one can't get angry at this comic because it's honest about its intent. I say fuck you.

You don't. Even 12 year old you would tell you to get some dignity. And if not, you should punch them in the face.

Someone scanned the oral history of the DC Implosion book that came out last year.
There's some really neat info in there. Lots of mentions of the things that were almost DC properties
>Grell's Starslayer
>Hama's Bucky O'Hare
>Adams' Ms Mystic
and the knowledge that Englehart was deeply upset by Kahn and Levitz negotiating lower page rates than he expected, so he took his Madame Xanadu scripts back and made Scorpio Rose out of it (he wanted at least $33 a page, they offered $31 in 1980)

Attached: scorpio rose_01_page_001.jpg (1901x2912, 1.36M)

I can still sing you the Bucky O'Hare theme song

Kat is old enough to be a University Sophomore.
Its like she wants to bang a Professor. Who went to school with her dad.

this artist read way too much MAD

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p25.jpg (971x1511, 457K)

I'm like 5 miles from Boston. I see confederate flag bumper stickers. Dude down the street has a tattered American flag hanging against the side of his house with trump scrawled across it in magic marker.

The Ms Mystic thing is funny because Adams today insists it was never an idea that he developed when he was working at DC, except he stuck her on the "Superman vs. Mohammed Ali" splash pages

Why does Rainmaker look less bothered by the lusty guy grabbing her than Roxy?

Is it Pro or Anti? It being tattered suggests the latter, but odds are the guy's just a slob. Iunno, is the Flag upside down?

confederate shit in new england confuses me deeply

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p26.jpg (994x1521, 439K)

Like that's a bad thing.

LOLOLOL

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p27.jpg (969x1495, 441K)

I, too, have read too much MAD, I'm annoyed it took me that long to put it together

School being some kind of Superhero Contra gang.

This guy is a bit on the racist side. Couldn't they have just drawn a black dude in safari clothes?

It is LITERALLY Yankeeland!

The dead on accuracy of this page is more depressing than funny.

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p29.jpg (977x1518, 457K)

you should stop being so pathetically butthurt

... Are you sure we shouldn't be reading this on /aco/? Because I think I've seen this in less than work safe comics.

love this

Right side up. I figure he's just a slob.

I like Jonah Hex and Dukes of Hazzard as much as the next guy but I don't feel any need to advertise it. Plus it's all racist and shit.

It's only racist because we sit back and let them appropriate it. Same thing with the A-OK sign and Skinheads.

Every time I see a stereotypical African tribesman character I'm reminded of that random guy in Superman vs. Spider-Man who Supes first talks to in very simple English but then he says he's just a college student hanging out with tribes or whatever.

Tired. Work is super busy and it is making me tired.

so how crazy is Neal Adams' new R'as al-Ghul book going to be

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p30.jpg (976x1513, 484K)

Despite my disappointment at not being able to cosplay as Hex in Red Dead, I'm ultimately glad they didn't have a Confederate uniform just so you can't have roving packs of racist trolls in the online mode

Thanks for reading back MONDAY

I am legitimately enjoying this trip to the 90s

Attached: Gen13_v1_04_p31.jpg (972x1517, 383K)

And you should stop being a horny retard. You should also try jumping off a cliff and hitting every rock on the way down.

Ra's will be revealed as the mastermind who controls all the world's governments to keep the secret of the flat hollow sphere moon from reaching the sheeple masses

>let them appropriate it.

"The Confederate Flag" only exists retroactively as a banner of bitter Southerners angry that they lost the Civil War and 'Carpetbaggers' made them build fountains for Black people instead of hanging them for being thirsty.

Oh, it will be nuts for sure, but since it's canon (I think) I don't feel like it'll be Odyssey levels crazy or even Superman levels either.

Tired. Work is super busy and it is making me tired.

That's a shame, I've given a few series a try out because of that policy. A lot of them were pretty bad, tho.

thanks OP, its very fun

Not as fun as Generation X Underground. But then again, that was all Mahfood.

It's too late for the flag. How could we even try to take back the ok sign? Do we even want to? To me it's synonymous with Beverly Hills Cop.

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

Being a comics fan in the 90s must've been really fuckin weird. Or just blissfully ignorant. Either way, hindsight's a bitch.

Anna btfo

I loved everything about it

>Take off all my clothes, sir!

They really didn't want give her much depth, huh?

>Harvey Korman
RIP Tim Conway.

Yeah. Team 7 was Gen12, basically.

It hasn't been a good year for the Golden Age, has it?

I've never gotten the mentality of people getting mad their wank fuel is gay. Especially when they're fictional. You were never gonna have sex qith them anyway.

>Surfing the Crimson Wave

I can't imagine this remote island has tampons dispensers.

>we might never see these kind of comic covers again

It hurts, bros

So wait, nipple rings there isn't supposed to be hot?

Did the crash take the rest of Roxy's shorts?

Rich posted about it like years ago on Bleeding Cool.

And I mean isn't lesbian porn extremely popular with straight men anyway? Though I guess here the lesbian thing is only like 70% for wank purposes and the rest is actually out of interest in having a diverse cast, which is the part that's simply unacceptable and evil.

Maybe he's not her type.

That's how the girls wore them back then.

SNU SNU

I can't find it

A lot of people credit Will and Grace with normalizing the gays.

Oh fuck, our first Sex Dungeon in absolute AGES.

Mildly tempted to get a con sketch of Rainmale from him if ever given the chance.

Y'know, I just put it together that the Team 7 mission to this island is probably how Zealot and Grifter met, wasnt it?

I've not read much Wildcats so I'm probably wrong?

Or fuck, MARVEL COMICS #80. I really don't think that original series lasted that long.

>sitting cross legged in a makeshift skirt sitting on a table.

Caitlyn is L E W D.

No. Fairchild is for Lynch.

Funnily enough, there are also people who get mad when their wank fuel is NOT gay.

Marvel Comics became Marvel Mysteries or something literally in issue 2, then became Marvel Tales until issue 150 something.
Which possibly explains why out of nowhere Marvel brought back Marvel Tales recently, to help them boost that number a little bit closer to #1000, though no matter what it's still only going to be ~960 something months since Marvel Comics #1.

What if you merged MCP into the Marvel Comics numbering, the way Marvel has kinda of haphazardly amalgamated other series numberings.

Because when they aren't wank fuel the audience may want the character to be, if not with them then happy, but gays will never be happy.
Because being gay is unintelligent, ignorant, dense, brainless, mindless, foolish, dull-witted, dull, slow-witted, witless, slow, dunce-like, simpleminded, empty-headed, vacuous, vapid, halfwitted, idiotic, moronic, imbecilic, obtuse, doltish.

Lazarus Pits are a naturally occurring phenomena created by the expanding Earth!

He's still getting work?

DC keeps throwing him self contained miniseries to let him do whatever the fuck he wants with, because he's Neal Goddamn Adams, and Jim Lee wouldn't have had a career without him.

You are a bore.

The List Of people who wouldn’t have a career without Neil Adams is very long to be fair.

True, but the only one who's a high ranked DC executive is Lee which is why I specified him.

Batman: Odyssey turned into a legit cult classic, so I think it's a "shit, why not?" sort of thing now.

Detective Comics #1000 is second highest selling book of the 21st century according to comichron
marvel is hoping Marvel #1000 will become the best selling one.
