The lengthy Beth/Jerry relationship issues, Jerry failure issues; that weren't even funny, or emotional. They just felt like useless filler that broke up the episode.

This is something I brought up before. When you have a character who's basically a god who can pull off anything with ease, there's really nothing more going for it because that and the whole multiverse thing just kinda ruins any chances of Rick and Morty and the cast properly developing and moving forward. The whole marriage saga between Beth and Jerry has gotten fucking obnoxious too and if they even dare fucking keep going through with it in Season 4 it's gonna be a complete disaster.
Rick and Morty has gone so far off the deep end that the staff no idea what to do with it. There's no real threat. There's no real character arcs. And there's no real impact. It all just comes back to square 1 in the next episode where everyone pretends nothing has happened.
If it was anything like Nu-Ducktales, I'd probably like it a whole lot better because not all the episodes focus on treasure and traps and shit. But they don't. Every episode has to solely revolve around that drunken gary-stu and his loud banter, narcissism, self-pity, and unfunny jokes. And it's all been done to death and it will continue to be done to death because the staff do not fucking know what they're doing with this show. When you have a show about where literally anything can happen, there's just no reason to care because soon you just expect it and it gets boring and predictable.
It's like watching DBS. It's all just anti-climatic bullshit that doesn't go anywhere or push its cast to change properly to be better or more interesting.

Yup, you got it. S3 was the weakest season, but it really wasn’t by much at all. It had some repetition issues with Jerry and Beth, had a weak finale and thre worst episode in the series (froopyland). The quality of the average episode was still ver solid and funny, and they seem to have acknowledged the feedback. I’m excited for it and Yea Forums can’t stop me.

Except Beth and Jerry’s marriage got back together and the writers have said that overdone plot is done, so different from status Quo, and Rick was put to the bottom of the totem pole, which is the best thing they could have done for his character.

The show actually addresses the return to to the status quo as a sad plot point with Rick being all "You guys don't get it, there are bigger fish to fry", but since Rick tends to just use the Smiths instead of try and explain his goals it's a stalemate.
There has been progress with Evil Morty, and of course Tammy. I find Tammy more interesting because Evil Morty is a theatrical villain while Tammy just strikes hard and fast.
But Trump touched women inappropiately too. Uncle Joe just has to make grab her by the pussy jokes. Basically the Dems can win if they turn the 2020 race into a Will Ferrel comedy

The show just has literally nowhere to go narratively, I'm not sure what they're trying to build towards. Every character that has been a protagonist in the show has managed to avoid any meaningful development and every personal arc has ended with a loud wet fart, with literally nothing being learned or accomplished and the situation at the end of S3 is pretty much the exact same as at the very beginning of the show.
Every character is just locked in time, unable to grow and develop, anything that could have possibly been a threat to rick has been dealt with as a joke, and they're trying to build up this evil morty villain but really, who expects that to go anywhere ?
I expect more mediocre, wishy washy writing, but with humor transgressive enough that I might bother watching it.

Summer can be entertaining if she's done right (S1/2 typical snarky dumb teenage girl not S3 homicidal badass) but I wouldn't mind if she was written out if the show.
Also both Pickle Rick AND the S3 finale sucked, although at least the finale made me laugh before leaving me feeling disappointed. The show is in dire need of fixing. There were 4 good episodes in S3 (1,6,7,8) so there's hope.

If I were writing on a show, I wouldn't use an announcement like this to grandstand about politics. Benefit of the doubt...but not off to a strong start.

We have a difference in opinion. There was a lot of fun to be had in The Vindicators and parodying superheroes was just kinda the ship to get there. It's sort of like bitching about a comedy troupe on a cruiseliner, but blaming the cruiseliner. If these jackasses hadn't been superheroes and they had used any other excuse for Rick to be murdering them all the show would have turned out the same.

Then Dan got divorced and just had to override all of it. The dude took it out on a fictional character in the show and everyone was powerless to stop him. I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the writers room when he started dropping this shit. Imagine having to listen to Dan rant about how Jerry and Beth don’t work and that they need to break up. Imagine sitting there as Dan describes exactly how they will shit on Jerry, while not being able to say a bing because you know he’s just projecting himself into Jerry.
