Honestly never liked that site because my internet connection was so shit it'd take too long to download the loop.
Geocities dying made me sadder.
holy shit what? No way!
I still go back there once in a while just to listen to Cosby Bebop and Dr Dre Ft. Cosby, and just check out what's going on lately, see what's happening.. if anyone's thought of new stuff..
God I miss old memetics. They'd get so creative, build on things, even collaborate on shit like alternate universe versions of the site where everything's backwards so they do opposite versions of all the memes..
I still have a notepad document full of ideas for YTMNDs I should do, right next to the one for all my ideas for things to make in SecondLife...
I still remember my old account there and my tons of shitty ytmnds. I had a few Sheep in the Big City ones.
I hope somebody saved the ones with emo Vader singing how could this happen too me.
aw man those would go well together
i'm not sure how you'd save anything. it looks like even if you to to the archive it won't load
web.archive.org
I remember being absolutely addicted to that site. RIP man.
I think what I loved about YTMND is that you really didn't know what you were going to get when you clicked the link. Sometimes it's something lame or something utterly brilliant.
One of my favorites was "The Hunt Comes to an End" which was a scene from Band of Brothers with a Lucky Charms commercial over it, and they approach Lucky, who is a cowering soldier grabbing onto his Lucky Charms who pleads "THEY'RE AFTER ME LUCKY CHARMS!" and he gets blasted.
I wish I'd seen the warning 2 years ago. Not sure what I would have done, but this isn't how I wanted to find out
sounds like the guy running it was a total sensitive stanley anyway
All the sites you once liked are dead
I feel like the closest successor, aside from Vine (since you cant be a successor if you're dead) is those surreal simpsons edits. Just the same sense of mixing two sort of unrelated things together and seeing which ones become popular and get repeated
Honestly, some of the good Youtube Poops feel like the last good throwback to the style of humor the site had.
The first one that really hit me was the loss of Pure Color Animal Park
Just an adorable japanese flash site full of cute engrish-filled cartoons about zoo animals (plus kappa, hamsters, dragons, and a fucking nué), most of which were interactive and included games and little singalong karaoke bits
then one day I went to go check on it again and it was hella gone. it was all flash, so archives do no good. No idea who ran it or why, or how to contact them even if they spoke english.
Theirs at least a best of ytmnd videos on YouTube but I'm not to sure if it's enough.
Hell, another one I loved was Jack in the Shining trying to knock down the door Harry from Dumb and Dumber was taking a shit behind with "The waiting is the hardest part" playing.
Something about the creativity of that site was so fucking good.
GODDAMN IT IS THE INTERNET DYING GUYS!? IS Yea Forums NEXT?
Yeah I can see that. Though even those are becoming pretty rare. or maybe the algorithm just buries them. actually i imagine it's contentID shit.
DESU, I remember the exact moment when YTMND kind of died. It was when Moon Man started taking off, and every other TOP Ranked YTMND was just a lazy play gif and have text to speak rant happening. The creativity dried up just for racist rants, and the site lost all its fun.
Let's put it this way
there are people who want it to be next, and are actively working towards that
and there are blind forces working towards that too, without actual intent behind them. Those are even harder to stop.
i had no idea moon man was from ytmnd, or that it had speech to text.
If always considered him the main villain of ytmnd anyway.
That was my stomping grounds before I found Yea Forums. They said never to come here. They were probably right.
This site died a long time ago.
Goodnight, sweet prince
youtube.com
Who made this, hopefully they saved a version of it
sokafkaesque.ytmnd.com
The correct saying is "stamping grounds"
The Moon Man pages just flooded the site, and it was just racist shit. It was always the same gif and then text speak like "Moon Man Here, I hope you lynched some niggers. KKK KKK KKK." and it just became embarrassing. Just all the creative juices died for racist rants, and everyone with talent left.
They were ahead of the ball on Spongebob memes, page after page of CHOCOLAAAAATE
PTKFGS was better.
It was so neat finding out that same anime and that same band had a bunch more great tunes.
then there's youtube.com
really that entire musical genre was perfect for YTMND and vice versa.
Is that... is that true?
is that working for you?
it's sad people react to such weak bait
Thanks ytmnd for letting me know Nightwish existed
Internet says both, they're the same word with just variant spellings.
>ebaumsworld is still up
those bastards won in the end
I feel pretty sad about this.
If it weren't for YTMND, I wouldn't have stumbled upon Yea Forums back while I was in high school and eventually start posting on Yea Forums, Yea Forums, and Yea Forums.
I think YTMND's first death was when Max got drunk one night and accidentally deleted a bunch of YTMNDs. I still get upset that Bill Cosby MEGARAVE was lost forever.
at least albinoblacksheep is still up too.
What happens is that it stated off silly and not taken very seriously because it's just a mc mascot saying random racism, and then it just flooded the site and ultimately ruined Mac tonight's public image altogether even, it wasn't really funny anymore (if it even was in the first place) and people just left. Shame really.
They can't delete our memories...
It's just.. gonna be hard explaining to people why this was so great
>So, so like, you could upload a picture and a sound file... and it could even be an animated gif!
>And and they would just play over and over and... No, it was great! There were memes, but they got called fads.. They would be lines from movies!
any public image that easy to ruin was never worth a damn
or rather, the public isn't worth a damn, and needs to be done away with.
Oh man. I remember all those proto-memes and shitty remixes. Getting a uniquely internet sense of nostalgia right now
Oh it's working for me too, but howcome this one's not?
No idea, I've got no issues with that one either
I never actually saw this video and just makes me miss the 90's even more...
>proto-memes
Those were memes. What you get today aren't memes, they're ads.
Homestar runner is still up, I had to check.
>the YTMND wiki is dead too
how am I supposed to read about all those ancient fads
>>All those Cosby Memes
>>YTMND declined before the rape stuff came out
Maybe it was for the best...
Mid-2000s was the peak of the internet. YTMND was great (even when it was shit) and the GOAT viral video (Alabama Leprechaun) came from that time period.
Pourin' one out.
youtube.com
Jesse Ventura Confronts a Serial Rapist is legitimately one of the funniest things the internet has ever produced. It's a masterpiece and every so often I'll think of "if you listen to the words I speak you're gonna hear words" and laugh.
Neopets and Gaia Online are still alive!
One of the greats was the one with No Country for Old Men and the guy goes "What am I, you're buddy?" and then the "My buddy" commercial plays with the characters heads over the commercial. The YTMND itself wasn't that funny, but what made it was when it looped, there was a DING noise and the hat the character took off appeared on his head again, and it was just perfect.
Those alternate universes were my first introduction to “meta humor”. I credit them to my becoming the weirdo I am today
The h-star the h-star-r will nevuw die.
Never got to experience it, so nothing was lost for me.
old internet wasnt as big on jumping on unproven shit and believing all women automatically
I subscribed to the Homestar Runner channel on YouTube and have notifications on for it. They've been slowly archiving everything onto that channel.
Still holding out hopes for another sbemail. Soon.
weren't they great? Homestar did kinda similar stuff.
Shade of Aran Chant lives only on youtube now, pour one out for the TBC players
>Early Youtube
>YTMND
>All the Myspace stuff
I was quite young then but I'm happy I experienced that era
Holy fuck. My pets must be starving
it's still too bad the easter eggs aren't all there.
also did you see those AI-generated sbemails, and strobro's reaction to them? I hate twitter and it's so hard to use, but his is just great.
>no one has posted fad related or NEDM
fucking zooomers
youtube.com
good night sweet prince
>Myspace
Kill yourself.
I hope so
TBC?
The site has changed hands so many times and the current one is just dying from having to maintain servers crammed full of 18 years of people's hoarded items, so they're doing an annual thing where they coerce people into donating old trash... but each time, it handles like absolute ass and slows the site to a crawl, so it's impossible to make it worth it. AND because it's annual, it only encourages hoarding the rest of the year AND buying up cheap trash.
Maybe not so much myspace
That video is beautiful. Just beautiful.
>18 years of people's hoarded items
I doubt it's a whole gigabyte.
>Gaia Online
Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
There's dozens of cringy journal entries there from my younger self, I'm almost afraid to look...
It is all done by ID number, but still
the burning crusade
I went on my old mac yesterday and played some of the itunes, and this song came up, and I was stunned.
I know people still heavily invested in Neopets
I hate the fact that now the internet is a business firstmost. Everything made is with money in mind, nobody makes things just because they want to have fun anymore.
I only just started doing the stock market. making mad riches.
why? uh.. look over there!
WHY DOES /POL/ HAVE TO FUCK UP EVERYTHING I LOVE?!
Blame yourself first and foremost.
Why?
Definitely feels like a so long video to a classic website.
2001-2019
They're vulnerable to automated adaptive marketing techniques. Machine learning is cracking the keys to out souls every minute of every day, and no one cares. This is a cyberpunk dystopia timeline just gaining momentum.
Because the world took away everything /pol/ loved...
>ytmnd is gone
>that one korean site with the egg song is gone, though some videos are on youtube
>most of the old pokemon sites I loved are gone
>creativeworlds.net (an old site that had a lot of kirby and other nintendo animations) hasn't had an update in like 8 years, but aquabunny still gets updated
>sheezyart died around 6 years ago
>albinoblacksheep is still around for some fucking reason and even has shit as recent as january of this year
>same thing with somethingawful, only it has actual current events like the sonic movie
>ebausmworld is also still up what the fuck
>newgrounds is still around, but it's been kinda dying for a while
It's a bittersweet feeling.
Only things I remember from that site was Nigga Stole My Bike and the hand-girl from Midori Days rapping
The grave of my embarrassing anime-loving tween self lies there. Let it rest in peace.
fags in this thread remind me of when people in the 90's were complaining about their fucking message boards dying. There will always be something that comes next and if you're not a cringy nostalgic faggot you'll adapt.
Then again I'm speaking to people who were probably 5 when Yea Forums launched. None of you faggots get it, but you'll be okay, trust me.
I remember talking about DBZ on the internet when it was airing in real time. If I can survive this long you fags will be fine too.
Gaia's economy is beyond repair though. Playing one of their games gave me a billion gold, and that's barely anything these days. I once went on and jokingly asked for a million gold to do psychic readings, and people were paying me that and then some. The inflation rate is just insane.
Good thing I don't want those ugly Not Naruto headbands.
It's like
you get handed a magic bag
you're told it'll give you random but huge amounts of money, as long as you only use it for fun purposes, but never with the intention of making money (like using it to fill with presents to bring to kids or something)
so you're like "I need to find a way to make TONS of money with this thing!" and it never works again
and you just scratch your head wondering why it's not working
Ooh, nice. First.
New grounds gained a bit of popularity after the tumblr incident
I was rooting really hard for a bunch of artists moving to newgrounds when tumblr quite literally shit the bed. It didn't really happen, but I had hope for a brief moment
But now there's money behind making it suck.
because they're liberals, and people believed the weakest bait ever.
I always wanted to get internet fame on ytmnd.. back before I had any idea you could make money with that or anything but notoriety. I wanted to make fun memes people would remember and enjoy.
Flawed analogy. Really, someone steals the ball, and it gives them all the money they want by causing you pain. And the pain doesns't stop until you give them money.
you think if enough of us set cats on fire and upload the videos on twitter the site will come back online?
>that one korean site with the egg song is gone
iloveegg is gone!?? fuck.
Newgrounds is trying to pick up tumblr's driven-out userbase and has set itself up as the last bastion of good internet..
>The last bastion of good internet
They aren't qualified. They've been deleting all the pedo stuff, and they have no animators left.
newgrounds is honestly doing so much better since tumblr went full retard srsly its traffic keeps going up
please don't say tween
god, you WOULD be the kind of person who stops liking anime.
here's the thing though, mate, the worldwide web was objectively an improvement over the old usenet boards. You could have more, and you could still have everything from the old days.
all the changes to the internet and technology as a whole since 2008 have been REMOVING things.
>They've been deleting all the pedo stuff
dammit, they specifically said they wouldn't do that. what are they, the japanese government?
Yeah, they all moved to fucking twitter, which is an awful place to host art.
Pics get compressed to fucking ugly jpgs, and then get buried underneath all the tweets about the artist's fucking favorite food.
Isn't newgrounds for flash animation and idle games? I don't think there's any overlap with tumblr at all
>they specifically said they wouldn't do that
loli has never been allowed on NG...
>iloveegg is gone!?? fuck
Yep. It leads to some weird shopping site called lineskull.
>all the changes to the internet and technology as a whole since 2008 have been REMOVING things.
It does feel that way. Video Games became paywalls, movies started to eat themselves in self-referencial shit, and even good old fashion webcomics just became sour.
Everything is just declining these days.
as a matter of fact, plenty of old usenet boards are still around and active, and their content well-archived. none of it was being deleted or being made incompatible on the old web. instead, some of it's dying NOW because ohnoes CONTENT CONCERNS. for text.
That's a pretty good YouTube Poop. I miss this level of quality.
'member WalrusGuy?
well that's a lie, so
cartoons are better in the 10s than the 00s but that's it. and a lot of the time it's because indy 00s creators made it big in cartoons. and we're still seeing that go up its own ass with nonstop homosexuality, so
The new era of internet is better
>Facebook
>Twitter
>Reddit
>Nu-YouTube
>Insta
>Porn-free Tumblr
Ah yes the golden age
>Geocities dying made me sadder.
This
I had a number of fan sites and a DBZ RPG.
Well looks like the Dr doomposters have come again.
>not NuTube
they've already started ruining your sense of humor
They think a sense of humor is bad for business because you can entertain yourself, see.
at least we have geocities.ws
they'll never take away chibi-usa's panchira shrine..
>they'll never take away chibi-usa's panchira shrine..
Holy shit it's still up...
Not Yea Forums but a surviving relic of the past.
washu.org
I get what you're saying though man, and maybe I'm just too old to understand, but I stick to my principle that if things get too bad, something new will pop up and take over and all you fags will be able to hop over just fine.
Maybe its just me and my boomer tier "faith", but I think things will be okay.
If they aren't I'll probably be dead before it gets too bad at least. I do miss talking about the Saiyan saga when we legit didn't know what the fuck was gonna happen next though....
It's so fucking bad it doesn't deserve to have NuTube be used. That's more creative and YouTube has none of that. Monitization and companies ruined that site
That is when renaissances happen user. Its just a matter of when.
Gifs. With sound.
It was truly revolutionary
Yea Forums died 9 years ago, and nothing has popped up.
Jesus fucking christ.
I think I legit remember visiting this website from the library near my house in 2003 ish.
If it wasn't this site, it was a site like it. I used spent my 30 minutes of "net use" allocated to my library card saving Washu pictures to a floppy so I could take them home to use as a desktop.
Oh yeah, I'm sure new things are coming and ... I'm trying to be optimistic that they'll be great. It's just safe to say that, at the current trajectory, that aint happening.
I also miss talking to friends about anime. they never want to anymore.
monetization and companies made it huge. advertisers and Google ruined it. Cowards refusing to even make the effort to hide behind fair use law, instead just letting anyone take down anything without making them prove who they are, and then letting AUTOMATED PROGRAMS do it, despite how unconstitutional that is. At any point, they could have refused, and been brave and come out of it scott-free.
For some reason this gave me a teamartail flashback.
i miss old internet. I saved so many animated gifs and midis just to have.. i intended to put them on a website someday, a big fan shrine to everything i liked. I had facts written on INDEX CARDS.
then wikis made that redundant.
now see, I have no sour grapes there. I don't mind that wikis made fansites unnecessary. They're useful. I mind that wikipedia is a fucking cesspool of liberal bias, and most cartoon wikis are written exclusively by very small children
>Monitization and companies ruined that site
Money and companies ruin everything.
>YTMND IS DEAD
LANDO IS NOT
money and companies build everything
incompetence ruins things that previous, more risk-taking companies started. I feel like it shouldn't be legal to buy the "rights" to something.
If it makes you feel better everybody I grew up with is either a trucker or a tradefag that never got on board with the internet. I ended up with a comfy federal job that requires me to basically use a super outdated DOS system to do inventory once and year and otherwise I"m just being paid to be at a desk and I've spent the last three decades of my life hanging out with people half as old as me on the internet.
I think my favorite part were the WoW years though. I had a good time when that game was in its heyday. Most of the people I met and became friends with were super into anime and shit. Nowadays it feels kinda hard to get to know new people that like what I like, but I might finally be falling behind the times. I was never able to get into social media like tumblr and twitter, but people who aren't even content creators are using it to network and meme these days.
It might be time for me to finally die....
I wish people still made MIDIs. I get that the main reason they were popular in the old days of the internet is because they were way smaller than actual audio and thus a lot more practical for the slow connections of the time than actual audio, but to me the real value they have is that they're basically digital sheet music. They're an actual transcription of the song that you can open up and read, edit, plug into whatever VST or Soundfont you want, etc.
I mean, I know I'd be happier dead, but that would make other people unhappy, and I keep working on doing more shit that more people would miss if I was gone. That's all I can do.. It's not EXACTLY what we were doing in the old internet, but it's similar.
loc.gov
It looks like the U.S. government saved some.
How many people can you find in the world who 1) can compose sheet music, 2) can write elementary code, and 3) are not being paid to do anything else?
lots of people do still use them, for exactly that reason! I follow several youtube channels where people post those for uses in soundfonting etc. Plus there's vgmusic.com
Yeah but that's different because that's simply things organically losing popularity and getting replaced which is natural. The internet caters so heavily to normans, kids/parents and other shit demographics for the sake of monetization that it's gonna go the way of the modern music industry and television and become more and more of a censored gentrified hub of shite afraid to take risks for the sake of those people. Look at fucking YouTube for example. The days of the wild west internet are fading faster and faster and that's COMPLETELY different from trends coming and dying like with forums improving over time or people switching sites simply because they want to rather than the social media monopoly that's going on now.
Companies build nothing. They exist to exploit the work of others against their wills. Thieves and liars.
no, they exist to pay people for their work and basically build everything that exists, good and bad.
.midi is still used dude trackers are dead but the midi fle format is still used
but their internet is totally different from ours, why can't it just be separate? why does it have to keep edging ours out
Pay goods to steal and destroy, sell cheap replacements and tie little bows on the wreckage.
>gonna go the way of the modern music industry and television and become more and more of a censored gentrified hub of shite afraid to take risks for the sake of those people
Absolutely. That was kind of my point. That will happen, and just like all those things were replaced, the internet as we know it will likely fall behind and get replaced by some new medium. That is my hope anyway.
It's one of those things that feels really hard to explain. Everything now has to be couched under a dozen layers of irony and all kinds of other bullshit. It was a purer time. People just found shit they thought was funny and posted it. Or they took the time to create something stupid. Now you can see a thousand "funny news clips" or something but you somewhat had to go out of your way to see shit like Bubb Rubb or the news lady falling while crushing grapes.
It's nuts to think that Azumanga Daioh (the manga, not the anime) is 20 years old this year. I don't think a lot of kids using the internet now or Yea Forums realize just how big of a show that was in shaping internet culture in like 2004, plus it really jumpstarting/codifying a lot of the CGDCG stuff. It should honestly be remembered as one of the more influential shows ever created; Osaka memes were fucking inescapable.
People who make interesting things want it to be seen. There are more eyes on the failnet, if fewer brains.
Compare it to music
You think the pop industry is going to kick out your local underground music scene's style? Truth is, those people who are buying corporate pop would never give a shit about underground stuff.
It can exist separate even on sites with the mainstream stuff, you have to not give in and join the masses on corporatetube and other sites where they only make content for cash
someday I hope the people inheriting this failquake of a sucknado of basically every single industry realize there's no point in the short-term investment when it's long-term nostalgia that makes you money.
the fall of the fake chinese economy will hopefully teach the first part of that lesson. Just because there's 1.4 billion of somebody doesn't mean they have any money, and you should have known that
I'm contrasting it with music
though of course, music as a whole is dying. I'm wishing the internet went more like music, before it totally died.
God it was even prophetic for the films.
>MIDI's
>go to see if vgmusic is still up
>it is, with shit as recent as 2018
Holy shit, it's still kickin'.
I used to visit this site all the fucking time.
I downloaded so many sonic songs.
It has probably one of my favorite incarnations of Ice Cap Zone vgmusic.com
>realize there's no point in the short-term investment when it's long-term nostalgia that makes you money.
That is factually false though. Short term investments in things that have a massive, short term income have always been a low risk way to pump and dump something. By the time it starts to fail, the people that came into it with purpose have already gotten rich and moved on.
You are truly one retarded faggot if you think there is real money in nostalgia. Most normalfags don't give two shits. You're the equivalent of some 55 y/o dreaming about his varsity football days in HS and thinking you should be catered to.
Legit not trying to make fun of you, but nostalgiafags are very much NOT where the money is at.
I still go there every fucking day
once in a while i track down the people who made the really classic remixes that added something new to the tunes, like 'windmix' and I find they're making new even better music on youtube
you remember fuckin Tetrinet?
The Sonic Mania OST is beyond pimp.
Because that's just how normies work. Their disgust and aversion to anything they don't like or see as morally corrupt makes them think they have to get rid of it because they can't simply co-exist with shit they don't like. Once again drawing a parallel to music; look at how MTV and the radio used to give shine to all types of music and even as recently as the early/mid 90s had death metal music videos on to now how everything's pop or rap because "ew wtf why are they screaming", or "LOL IS THIS SATANIC???"
And the thing is, since they're the majority and since they can bring muh children into the equation too they can get away with it and keep ruining and censoring any mediums of entertainment they don't like simply because they're the 'normal' ones and it puts them in the right. That's just the way the world works sadly, user.
I don't know what to say, you're obviously and demonstrably wrong. Nothing can even get made anymore unless it has the name of something popular 20 years ago on it
Years upon years, endless meme upon endless meme. Yet the modern internet fails to come up with something as funny as "nigga stole my bike".
Oh, you're right and so clever, that is why NOTHING in the market goes the way you suggest and routinely proves what I just said you silly little nigger.
but rap is terrible
your brain is hurting me, I can't imagine how it feels in your own skull
Newgrounds doesn't have anything to live up to tumblr's tagging system. Twitter barely does but it's still there even if it is shit. Tumblr, as much as we all like to shit on it, had its own very niche very specific community much like ours and much like if Yea Forums got deleted or heavily censored most anons would be at a loss of where to go since nothing would exactly replicate that same community and general vibe. Some would move to infinitychan but it wouldn't be the same. A lot of tumblr users are still in limbo because twitter is still full of so many normies and it's equivocal to posting r34 on a less censored version of Facebook. I've seen a lot of gay nsfw artists and ex tumblr users shit on 'dudebros' in particular because it sucks for them going from a site where everyone understands the content posted and doesn't care or enjoys it to stupid normie DBZ fans screeching at some artist for posting bara art or some shit because "gOkU ISNT GAY!!!!1!!!1"
tl;dr let's just hope Pornhub comes through and buys it off Verizon because Newgrounds is its own thing, Pillowfort is a lost cause and Twitter sucks and is full of normies. It's hard if not impossible to recreate a site's general atmosphere without completely replicating it.
This isn't really Yea Forums but I don't care. Yea Forums needs to start just being the everything board because every other board sucks, especially at its intended use.
>You are truly one retarded faggot if you think there is real money in nostalgia
something something pokemon
tags are stupid though. tumblr was fucking unusable.
I did hear about pornhub buying it, that'd be fantastic. Hell I'll get an account the day that happens as long as they're cool with loli.
There's pixiv. They've been a shining beacon of homolust since forever.
>tumblr's tagging system
They didn't invent tags, and boorus do it better.
pixiv is okay
boorus only need better methods of self-curating. Something more like what deviantart does, except even THEY are in the process of completely overhauling their site
and guess the fuck what? like everything now, it doesn't work in any of the browsers i'm comfortable using. Gotta add all those new useless lines of code that only work on perfectly up to date chrome, put captcha in, and make the whole thing feel more socialnetworky
>though of course, music as a whole is dying.
Why do people on this site say dumb shit like this?
We're definitely good for general stuff like this, but being broad would just have others come here and kill this board quality too
Look at the spam we got with Endgame
Because everyone was there the day the music died.
Goku aint gay though.
Because they spend too much time here and not enough time doing the thing they're complaining about. Music is entering a new era of shitposting
I meant the industry in its previous form as it existed between the invention of the vinyl record and youtube, and you KNOW that's what I meant.
You spin me right round, baby, right round
Like a record, baby, right round, round, round
IT'S ALMOST LIKE Yea Forums IS BECOMING THE SAME THING!
I used to look at all the Evil Conan YTMNDs maybe like once a year the past few years. I remember joking with friends about YTMND in high school. Weird to think they're no longer there for me.
>curiously went back to Gaia last year
>easy as shit to get money now
>even easier to get cool items
>game pretty much ejaculates formerly rare as fuck items at you at terminal velocity every day
>making cool avatars is better then ever
>forum is pretty chill, managed to get a free game from a giveaway
>mfw I still check it from time to time
Site's pretty fucking comfy nowadays.
why does anything have to ever leave
how much could ytmnd possibly cost to keep up? a bunch of gifs and extremely tiny mp3s or wavs..
There have been rumblings about Cards Against Humanity buying the site, since they spend money on useless bullshit all the time.
Of course, I learned of this from a post on tumblr, so it's unlikely anything will come of it.
All we hear is radio gaga.
Can you even delete a Gaia account?
Last year I went to Japan and bought a second hand book commemorating the 10th anniversary of Azumanga, dear God I felt old, the book has a lot of merch pictures and some renditions by new mangakas.
I feel awful just to think this devolved into idol animus and gasha mobile games
You had all those years to archive it. Why didn't you?
Web Archive is your friend folks
>Yeah, they all moved to fucking twitter, which is an awful place to host art.
>Pics get compressed to fucking ugly jpgs,
Get the direct url for the image (must end in a file extension) and add :orig
This. You should donate to them. It's tax deductible.
I mean this is from back when Yea Forums still had that fuckin side bar and, at least on YTMND, they weren't called memes they were called fads.
Yeah, but it's still not the same.Better than nothing though, thanks
Is Steak and Cheese still up?
I NEVER SAVED THE LEATHER BELT TORNADO ALARM
I'm really sad now. It sounded great in surround sound
>Go back to visit old sites, majority of them dead
>Page of Boobs still stands
Wow, wasn't expecting that.
youtube.com
Oh hey I found it
I assumed it'd be around forever (heh heh heh)
it's pretty hard to exceed the standard deduction, but yeah. they do good woik.
Is this Arby n the chief?
Stagnant hard drive technology for the past decade.
Huh you just made me think back to a site I remember from fucking 1998 or so. kittens and tits
It doesn't appear to still be around, but there's a reddit by that name! i'll take it. For some reason tits are twice as hot if nobody's paying for them to be out.
Post your favorites.

I legit miss Yea Forums from 10 years ago....
fuck, Let it Cosby doesn't seem to be on youtube
would it be too 2000s of me to just rip it and upload it? I mean I didn't make it, but..
good times, man. Telling people about this awesome pilot I saw called Adventure Time and how I hope it gets picked up...
Not a fan of the helium filled rust wheels or the flash filled minicomputers?
wait. the fuck? when you go to the old archives of the site, you don't get the ability to save the mp3, it's still a flash object somehow. It wasn't flash back then.
God, Azumanga Daioh, man... Are we this old? Is Azumanga completely forgotten? I even bought the omnibus back on 2010 and read it again from time to time.
Sakaki will forever be my waifu...
>The first 7200 RPM hard drive came out in 1992
>Nearly 30 years later 5400RPM drives are still the most common type available
>No matter what manufacturer you buy there's always a high failure rate
>Businesses have to make dozens of backups because of how unreliable everything is
>A 3 TB SSD costs 500-1000 dollars
Fuck hard drive technology.
eh, I was late on getting into it in the first place, so that doesn't affect me as much.
>Azumanga Daioh
Genuinely don't know what that is.
Businesses have to make dozens of backups because they persist in buying Seagate's exploding rust.
How come this is the case?
I can0t read that omnibus unless i have a lot of free time. I intend to read just a couple of pages and end up reading the whole fucking thing.
that one anime with the cute loli flying with her pigtails
i'm more of a yotsuba& man myself but I did read through azumanga and it was good.
That's like never seeing Die Hard, or never having sex. You've missed out on one of those perfect things that a million other things try to copy.
I only have the third volume of Yotsuba in spanish, if i had more i would read that also.
but user...
Is it really that good? I rarely watch anime. The last one I can remember was this anime where a guy and a girl from two families become exorcist monks or something.
>waifu
This would not exist as we know it without AzuDai by the by.
youtube.com
>Dare?
>Mai waifu.
And thus, a term was born.
It'll put some things in perspective.
that show was memetic as fuck
>Is it really that good?
The anime is not perfect. It's fun but flawed bacause the timing of the jokes is off. It's based on a 4-koma so it's to be expected.
That being said it is an important part of the CGDCT and SOL anime.
>The creativity dried up just for racist rants, and the site lost all its fun.
Sounds eerily familiar.
I thought the timing was flawless, the problem was how aggressively normalfaggy they were. that gets old. gets boring. I can't care about how they perform at track and field, or how note-by-note they're doing their school festival
I'm very happy that Pixiv now allows you to open up pools without opening a new tab, but fuck me if it isn't processor-intensive. What the fuck is taking so much energy, to load like five >5MB images at once?
Depends, it's personally one of my all time favorite shows but a lot of stuff cribbed its style afterwards and being a 4koma adaptation the pacing can be (intentionally) slow. There's also a filler episode (episode 19) which is vastly different in tone being more melancholic than comedic but it's still a good episode IMO.
There have been dozens of attempts at making new branches in hard drive technology but they always end up with some sort of gigantic downside. Like writing data to the DNA of bacteria. Petabytes of data stored in something the size of a flash drive, but read/write times that takes weeks.
Funnily enough Seagate is the main reason the tech is as "good" as it is now.
pcworld.com
Search "Seagate" in the article and they did all of the major innovation. Why it doesn't translate into longer lasting drives I have no idea.
F
They're just normal high school girls. You want genius loli NEETs, there's tonnes of that on the board stage left.
>Ayumu
>Kasuga
Who dat?
I have heard there's issues with flash memory too
thing is, HDs arent so bad, most of the time they fail theyre totally repairable, but because of how they're made you're likely to damage the shit out of them in the process of repairing
It's more groundbreaking than good. It paved the way for schoolgirl comedies as we know them.
It did get a perfectly wonderful short youtube.com
The TV series is also more groundbreaking than anything else, personally I find it boring as hell and wish they had made more web episodes.
I want more variation. dorks, etc. not so much rigid normalcy.
Because that's just them paying big bucks to patent as much as possible and put their name next to the word innovation as often as possible, to keep competitors from improving or lowering their costs, and to sell the same old cheap rust even more. They sell drives that consistently catch on fire.
This one was my favorite
youtu.be
And Moonman
Osaka's just her nickname, because she's from Osaka.
It's all the same person, see. she has a first and last name and a nickname
Don't go down the rabbit hole.
I wish i wasn't completely clueless with tech, there must be a way to make better hard drives and counter meassure the downsides.
>You're The Man Now Dog!
>the problem was how aggressively normalfaggy they were
the otaku shit burned your brain so much you find otaku shit boring because you think this is real life
if you can't appreciate a simple story about regular girls and boys anymore you're long gone
Yup, and Samsung had it nailed down. But they sold their HDD business to Seagate, who meticulously documented their legal rights to forbid others from making HDDs that last forever, while making none themselves. My Spinpoint F3 still works, dag nabbit.
Good thing the show led the ground work for other shows to do what you want.
Would you stupid weebs shut the fuck up and post more clips?
Fucking hell, man. I don't think I would be where I am on the internet without YTMND molding me into who I am with shit like Brian Peppers and Butt Racing.
I need to check if I still have the YTMND albums on my old laptop. I know I must have it saved on either that or one of my hard drives

You undermine everything you say by posting that image.
Kamen Rider Faiz is from 2003, user's picture is fitting.
>Boys
>in azumanga daioh
Kimura sensei
I just like kamen rider and that image, is that so bad? Even if Wojak shit has fucked up this site I still consider the original permutations that were just
>that feel when
still acceptable.
I feel like there was plenty of that long before AD. Basically anything taking place in a school has gone solidly downhill.
It hurts my heart that future generations won't know about butt racing. I put that shit in my fucking webcomic, as a parody of martial arts jutsu shit. The hope was if you didn't know the reference, you could look it up. now what'll you get?
it's harder to laugh at a guy who exists to be despised and made fun of for being straight and male nowadays, but at the time yeah he was a riot. And he had a hot wife. that really balanced it out. Azuma-sensei creates fantastic characters. Everybody in Yotsuba& is so great
Fireball20xl has been dead for a long time and I'm both saddened and slightly relieved I wasn't around at the time to witness it due to RL bullshittery taking all of my attention since I heard that was a gigantic shitshow.
Her especially.
There is nothing sweet about this
Praise be to Osaka.
nah it was a tiny shitshow. he got quietly metoo'd before that was a thing, and nuked the site. I miss all of that
i mean sure, in the latter years there wasn't much to enjoy, but every so often TMS would get restarted, or he'd start another abridged series (dude practically invented them) or something.. it was a time.
I will admit though, I finally tracked down Sakana Yama and it's not holding up after over a decade of missing it and saying it's my favorite spritecomic
Imagine if it was translated as
>Are you a faggot, Kaorin?
the worst is losing webcomics. Webcomics I followed for years then they just evaporated.
>it's harder to laugh at a guy who exists to be despised and made fun of for being straight and male
And an open ephebophile. Kimura was funny not for being a straight male but because he was an admitted pervert.
And nothing of value was lost. I'm assuming. I literally never went.
>it's harder to laugh at a guy who exists to be despised and made fun of for being straight and male
He's not despised for that, he's despised for looking (and occasionally acting) like a goddamn creep.
I'm happy Kirb is doing alright these days at least. TTA is how I found the site in the first place.
Better they evaporate than end in the most cataclysmically disappointing way you've ever seen anything end in nearly 30 years of living.
No, he's despised for being such a good person in every other way but that.
I've been coming to this shit hole for 13 years. What will I do if Yea Forums gets shut down? Where will I go?
what'd she actually say? okama?
>Where will I go?
The next most popular chan.
I haven't seen any of the zombie comics end yet, what's an example?
I have noticed some long-running comics I like ending recently, and it feels weird when they ran even longer than mine. Okashina Okashi, No Need for Bushido.. fuck, the titles alone tell you how old those are.
>visit Fark
>realize Fark was just a precursor to Digg
>realize Digg was just a precursor to Reddit
Curse you Drew Curtis.
Somehow, Bob and George from The Second Mega Man Game onwards still holds up decently.
same thing
that's why i love Zetsubou-Sensei. They had an entire character revolving around "she looks creepy so she must be a good person" while people just conciously ignore her sticking twigs in dogs' asses
yeah he did good stuff
It's younger and I'm not going to name it in a public place.
I think so, not 100% sure
I worry about that because we've all seen firsthand how the 80s videogame crash model is destroying tv-alternative subscription services, and right now there are tooo goddamn many chans. It'd be really tough for us to pick one and make that the next big one. and without the fast pace of Yea Forums, they don't work as well.
quality writing. 8bit theatre too, even if clevinger is a gigantic modernhole. atomic robo remains a fantastic read, no matter how many irrittatingly 2019 characters he pays someone to draw into it.
ah, well. It's gonna be a damn of a thing when Misfile ends, and an even bigger one when Megatokyo finally bites the dust. I feel like Yea Forums's gonna kerplode, but at the same time we'll have a disturbingly large number of young-ass kids who've never heard of those and don't understand what a hand-drawn webcomic is
The saddest part is that if you read some of Dave Anez's comments, he has toyed with the idea if adapting the ninth and tenth Mega Man game via bullshit time travel stories to justify the 8-bits.
Megatokyo's author will bite the dust first.
Everything's gonna be alright, anons.
One day, Yea Forums will die too.
>the Overchan was once a directory of communities and not a list of graveyards
www.1chan.net/overchan/
I know there are new, updated lists, but this is the nostalgic one for me
We just need to re-invent a private Internet of our own that only people with desktop computers can access.
Thank god
Yea Forums will not care. Not anymore. Yea Forums will be tsundere, though.
I'm okay with that
given the health issues that seem to surround him, wouldn't shock me. Some people can't catch a break. like the Axe Cop guy. he makes a massive webcomic phenomenon, even gets an animated series, but he's e-begging to pay for his wedding. then he's working on fantastic new comics, but then he busts his fucking neck and now he's up to diddly squat.
he's pals with doug tennapel, you'd think that giraffe-ass motherfucker could donate some spare neckbones or something.
The people who make cool stuff will stay where there are more people and sometimes money, though.
Yeah, my only regret is that the Neopets forums don't archive, I have thousands of fuzzy memories of great convos and memories lost to time on that site. Peak bittersweet, as that was before I knew how to archive my own content.
I remember hitting up "girls" on gaia because I was at a new middle school and afraid to talk to the ones there in person. Funny times. I miss that age of the internet, but I realize megaoorps are just going to centralize it even further. If I ever had the money to just opreate an early 2000's designed site (but without Flash obviously) I'd definitely just operate at a loss for the rest of my life to carve out my little internet heaven.
And that will be a blessed day
...laptops too though right?
dude i'm down for that. isn't that what that last season of Silicon Valley was sort of about? Making a less fucked up internet.. but they were powering it with normiephones
now I just feel disappointed about the fact that both Rathergood and Weebls-stuff are both still around but their content has slowed to a damn trickle.
Like, Flash isn't literally dying. you can still make cartoons with it and put them up on youtube or whatever.
Monetization is why the Internet we loved died.
You can come, but you're on thin ice.
I feel better knowing peeps like you exist
Can you imagine how insufferable we would be if we were in the majority though? Maybe we dodged a bullet. My only frustration is that our day was never popular. it went from obscure nerdshit to passé, but it never had a 'this is mainstream popular' heyday in between, the way nearly everything else gets to.
There's imageboards on most private domains I've heard of, but no one uses them.
I'm just saying I want to motivate engineers to keep working on improving laptops, making them bigger, better, more durable, and lighter. I'm still a desktop user til I die. They're going to find me here, slumped back, with my dick in my hand and loli on the monitor, and they will have to deal with that.
the internet died as quickly as it was born
now the "internet" consists of a handful of websites
twitter, facebook, google, amazon, pornhub, wikipedia, youtube, other big websites like that
people rarely venture outside of these websites
those websites are the entire "internet" to them
and it's a constant feedback loop
people screencap twitter posts, post them on instagram, screencap instagram posts, post them on facebook, steal videos from facebook, post them on youtube, a constant and endless recycling of meaningless information
even Yea Forums has become just another website for other websites
twitter posts, facebook posts, youtube drama, and the exact same memes over and over again
"memes" now are just pictures and quotes from movies, games, tv shows, cartoons, etc.
there's nothing new, there's no culture, there's no camaraderie
it's an unending cycle of feasting on media and regurgitating it to each other only for companies to regurgitate back to us in the form of sequels and remakes and remasters and VR and HD and 60 FPS and unedited and uncut and extended and 3D and blue-ray and collector's and special and on and on and on and on and on
Thanks
>is that working for you?
It does.
What's your job, user?
It kinda always was, but at least it was spontaneous and aimed well above the lowest common denominator. And with anime, the media was squarely aimed at someone else. Now companies commission memes, and disseminate them to likely idiots to repeat. And anime is for white people. Just like everything else.
Is this what its like to get old? To watch everything you like disappear or go to shit, leaving you bitter and sad.
This post prompted me to check if my favorite game remix site, OCRemix, is still alive...and it is!
Funnily enough the best remix they have it also of Ice Capped Zone. I love that yours is a .mid file. Here's mine:
>ocremix.org
nah, we're actually having a pretty good revival right now. Yea Forums wasn't the best in 2009...
>there's nothing new, there's no culture, there's no camaraderie
There's camaraderie here, user. Among us, the ones in this thread who miss small town internet.
C'mere, gimme a hug.
>Page of Boobs is still around
I'll never get tired of looking at big watermelon boobs. Thank you boobs.
I dunno man. I ended up here as a last resort. The world is consolidating and places like this that are free and aren't trying to take as much personal data as possible are fewer and fewer.
I think the next stop might be getting friends and talking in person... gross.
>revival
It's completely soaked in advertisements. Everyone is a social media twit or a company rep. This isn't an image board, it's twitter.
I always used this to shitpost digimon threads
web.archive.org
The last time Yea Forums was a bastion for meaningful discussion and OC, YouTube, Twitter and Reddit didn't exist, Facebook was still only for college students, and the best forum community on the web was SomethingAwful.
If you weren't here during those times, you already missed the golden age and are reminiscing over the silver.
Youtube is pretty old, but it didn't used to be public access tv. It was just a video file host w/ a flash player.
F
Have an ancient meme on the house, friends.
>mfw all the things i loved online are either dying, dead, or in a state of petrification
Found an old Cowboy Bebop site on Angelfire the other day which I used to love. Went to the screencap section and noticed they were all tiny VHS caps that must have been fucking hell to somehow get on the computer.
If you think the internet sucks now, you're just not looking in the right places. There are a million little sites and chans out there that are, at this very moment, setting the precedent of culture for the next decade or so, just like this site did. And just like Yea Forums was originally discovered before it was big, you'll find these places through whispers, far away from mainstream social media. They're out there; you just haven't found them yet.
we doin this?
>mfw saved may 2005
>Homosegs oudlawed
But I'm not a pedophile.
Please user
where
This is such a bullshit line of thinking. What made these sites great is that they were the various outpourings of the dominant online culture of the time. That there is "great websites out there" totally misses the point, that they now exist in spite of the dominant culture rather than as an implementation of it.
Not to mention that many of these sites are more defined by what they are against rather than what they are for.
most of these i'm posting are from 2005, by the way
>you'll adapt
I have been on Yea Forums since 2005 and it is only place i still go daily outside of youtube. I have no other place to go.
I dunno, man...though there were a lot of memes revolving around pop culture (Star Wars, LOTR), a lot of it was obscure geekery and otaku references that I didn't see anywhere else, especially at school/among my peers. YouTube wasn't even a thing yet, and the term "viral video" didn't even exist until 2006 - no one saw the same stuff on the Internet at the same time yet. Finding Yea Forums really was like finding another world; for the first few years (2004-2007) it was actually the "seekrit klub" people still wish it was now.
>saved June 16, 2005
Man, Pokemonaholic, Pikachu's Pokechow, Pokemon Elite 2000, Mewtwofan's Pokemon Page, almost all of the good websites from my childhood went away, excluding Serebii.
I survived the fall of the great Nintendo NSider Forums in 2006.
And just so you know, I was actually almost 9 when Yea Forums launched.
Sorry, I meant 2007.
The overall discourse is so much more shit and cynical at least on Yea Forums than it was even 5 years ago.
>everyone says reddit is a better version of digg
>it's just digg but uglier and more fragmented
>but it's better cuz mrbabyman can't ride the algo to the front page for free
gizoogle is still going strong
>Yea Forums wasn't the best in 2009
No but it wasn't as bad as it is today.
is it weird that I normally consider /pol/ stuff idiotic and yet kinda like the various Moonman songs that have been made, like the material is still vile, but the effort put into it is impressive
found a couple google drives that appear to have most everything Moonman music related up through August 2017, anyone know if anything noteworthy has been made since then?
No one here knows your name, faggot.
modern day Yea Forums isn't capable of making comics like these anymore
Fight ! Kikkoman
>pokemonaholic
Man, I had a few gifs uploaded there.
I don't have them anymore and Wayback doesn't seem to load them either.
Shit that's truly lost to time.
I miss mudkips
Anyone have that "Yea Forums comics then vs Yea Forums comics now" image where the "now" is just Pepe and Wojack?
I still have muscle memory for writing liek rather than like because of that shit.
The one thing I grew to strongly dislike from the old days was everything having a caption. I sorta want to dump my old "funny images" folder just to see what I still find amusing
HUET' IST MEIN TAG
HUET' IST MEIN TAG
HUET' IST MEIN TAG
I miss the older hitler memes
I fucking hope
Whenever I see these in the banner I wonder how many people are still around that even remember Happy Negro or Cockmongler.
I -think- Pedobear's still kinda relevant.
What are you talking about, user? Yea Forums died years ago. You've just been staring at a blank 404 page this whole time.
*X-Files theme plays*
>yfw Eric Baumann was jewed out of his own site
Justice
I remember watching Azumanga Daioh at the anime club at MIT because we knew someone there. Fucking suureal to think what some of those people are doing now.
Are we sure it's gone forever and not just having a technical issue? I was obsessed with YTMND in high school, sad to hear its gone.
I still have a YTMND music folder on my phone with a selection from their soundtracks. Think i had them on my phone even before I had a smart phone.
Holy fuck I downloaded all of the soundtracks when they came out. I will never not associate Tarzan Boy by Baltimore with YTMND.
Baltimora I mean. Oh and CALL ON MEEEEEEEE
One of the kids in my college anime club had Tunak Tunak has his morning alarm.
You do, do you?
I can't tell if I am crazy or not... but I could swear I have memories of designing that Yea Forums banner of Batou from GitS. I can't rmeember how long ago those old contests were. Being on Yea Forums over a decade and a half is all one big blur now.
What about Brian Peppers?
>Hmm. We're having trouble finding that site.
Inventory specialist at an Air Force base, but I am a civilian. The system they use for their inventory is literally from the early 90's. Very little traffic in my warehouse and its mostly outdated parts that are kept in storage for who the fuck knows why. There are about 20k parts and its segregated so that if i count a few things a day, I inventory everything at least once a year.
I work alone and its all I do besides sign out the occasional part. Lots of 4channing on my phone or watching netflix on my laptop. Will probably work here till I retire. Its WG08 for those who wanna bother to look up the payscale. I'll never be rich working here, but its enough to pay the bills and goof off a fair amount.
That's pretty good, make sure you save and at least open a CD at a bank.
>Subject Headings: Folklore and Mythology
Him, too.
Everything seems so ancient.
So many new people coming in who don't know anything about old Yea Forums culture.
They think it's all about baiting and shitposting nowadays.
They don't care about the camaraderie, or just sharing cool things that they found just for the sake of having fun.
That's what I miss about Yea Forums, and the Internet in general.
When things were just for fun.
>Monetization is why the Internet we loved died.
So much this.
Content creators on the web feel as much corporate as corporate themselves thanks to outlets like Patreon and YouTube's monetization system making them all lazy or stubborn since "Hey, i can just make shit at home and beg for money without looking for a real job!"
And because of that we ended up with creative minds selling their soul to the devil without thinking what made these hobbies and outlets great to begin with.
You can get the sidebar back

I am 37 and I am nothing but a pike of sadneas and disapointment. I have trouble finding anything thst can bring me joy. Friends are having kids and it gives me a glimmer of hope, but I am also scared of the world they will have to face and grow up in.
I love that trip hop remix of the song from MGS2
This was one of the greatest gifts to mankind
Soon, Yea Forums also will die
Holy shit, rip.
Oddly enough, the most love for POOL'S CLOSED I've seen recently was in the Splatoon General on /vg/ a while back.
One of the new maps was a hotel with a giant pool.
Everyone got in a lobby wearing afros and suits and changed their names to POOL'S CLOSED or variations of it.
The lobby itself didn't last too long, but I'm glad that it happened.
Reminds me that there are still some oldfags kicking around here.
I still have all the soundtracks in my Google Play Music account. A few songs appear to be missing but with how GPM works it just means I have exact duplicates in the system so all I need is the original track list to find them. But it's only like two songs.
I'll see if I can't get all of this in a Mega folder or something.
Maybe not...
youtube.com
>The original GIF had Poland as the last frame. It was cut off by YouTube on upload. I compensated by remembering Poland in the annotations.
Even posthumously, stupid corporate decisions ruin everything
desu Twitter is just Tumblrs slightly more normie brother
I remember when artists were coming in a bunch of people ree'd at the very thought that if your NSFW OC was small and wasn't really thicc in anyway then clearly she was an underage loli. This was also prompted by other porn artists going after anything loli-looking as well for some reason
That drove some artists off and any actual loli artist just moved to Baraag or continued posting on pixiv instead
Honestly not much has really changed except that Twitter is just shittier for art hosting
Oh hey, it was easier than I thought to replace the missing tracks.
Let's see if I can get them all into Mega now.
it might not be too late bois, it might not be too late
There is hope...
I don't think Deviantart's going anywhere anytime soon.

Here it is. The YTMND Soundtrack, Volumes 1 through 17, as well as the bonus album of Promotions. Twenty CD-RWs worth of material, in glorious mid-2000s-era sub-FLAC quality, back when nobody gave a shit about that sort of thing.
It's not completely uploaded, but it should be done within the next 15 minutes. Most of the albums should be complete right now, though. Let me know if there's anything wrong with the files, though.
youtube.com
this is the only thing you need
Whatever happened to DZK anyways?
YTMND ain't dead, Max was just away while the servers died a few days back. Has happened several times over the years.
He should've closed off new accounts/site making years back though. Everything good lives on as an archive and no alt-right manbabies squatting on the front page. Win-win.
A good point, but I think the reason new account signups died was because the site was using an older version of reCAPTCHA that was eventually deprecated.
Okay I actually laughed

Newgrounds still works.
Whether YTMND is gone for good or not, I'm definitely feeling nostalgic. Anybody else remember the Forgot Poland Army and other users who submitted anti-fads, ear rape sites, and bait-and-switch YTMNDs? That shit was 10 years ahead of its time, and a precursor to all the deep-fried memes and other anti-humor that define today's social media.
I still go there every day
fuck speaking of websites, I've been so bummed ever since i-mockery stopped updating, and it turned out the dude's wife died, and it turned out she was hugely involved in the site, and she killed herself right after halloween and that's like 80% of what that site even did anymore, so it's about as likely to come back as a sym-bionic titan / Megas XLR crossover
I remember I was desperately trying to get someone with a DVD to get me some screenshots to edit. no knowledge of streaming sites at the time.
I spent fucking hours saving every single sprite from this one site, so I'd have every variation of every pokemon. Still have them in a folder.. never once looked at or used them for anything
>making forced memes about Bush and the 2004 election well into the Obama presidency
web.archive.org
it's always been fun to laugh at racist shit. johnny rebel is hilarious. the part in 'nigger-hatin' me' when he transitions from kinda clever wordplay and making a few good points, to clumsy lyrics, to almost incoherent babbling, as if losing his absolute shit because black people exist..
I forgot about that period when everyone was kicked off of their own sites. deviantart went way downhill when that happened.
>I will never not associate Tarzan Boy by Baltimore with YTMND.
Ditto, which is impressive given that I always associated it with TMNT III and Surf Ninjas
indeed. though you CAN see the poland bit in the video now.
and that's corporate incompetence, not decisions. that's another problem.
>3500k square wave
That shit was golden
so many fucking memories.
What did max mean by this?
ONCE UPON A TIME
The question is will Yea Forums learn from that mistake or it already too late for us.
ssssso it's not?
>Tfw cons used to be filled with Yea Forums memes.
>People talking about Yea Forums openly and not, acting like a fagots.
>Hordes of niggas at every con.
>Now the mear site of the number 4 at a con causes everyone to go,in to a panic.
This is true, people are like "you fucking nazi racist, why do you go to that alt-right site"
Surprised no one's telling you to go back to Gaia but at the same time, not really.
It's the sad thing, user. The kids playing Gaia from back then are now the nuAnons. If the quality of the site tanked, this is one of the reasons why.
Is it wrong that I wish Yea Forums was still >muh sekrit klub?
That I miss asshole mods that would ban you while making a mockery out of you for the smallest faux pas? The actual barrage of OC that wasn't edits of the same 2 images...
You just have to tell yourself
anyone that easily swayed was never truly one of us. you don't want those people on your side, because if they are, that just means someone has manipulated them to be.
what are you talking about? mods have been getting consistently worse. I miss when we could post spoilered porn
hell mods are the reason there's no OC anymore, they delete it on sight.
The fuck are you talking about? This site has become a poorly moderated mess, mods won't adress the actual issues with the site, delete on-topic threads and let off-topic foster.
I've struggled to explain that most of what they're blaming on Yea Forums is actually the result of 8 chan, but for most normalfags that seems to be a distinction without difference.
That's what I'm saying. You were saying you miss asshole mods
nice trips Maybe, but somehow it always felt like Snacks filtered undesirable company out.
politics will be impossible to discuss as long as the left is in charge of what's defined as left and right, and anything "right" you see is the left in a paper mask, up to and including the president (and john mccain for that matter) just doing whatever riles people up just for the lulz and the clickbucks
google captcha is a plague. They should have had a custom scripted one (remember when sites had their own custom proprietary code?) where it starts out with PUNCH THE KEYS FOR GOD's SAKE and if you fuck it up it says "ah ah ah, you didn't say the magic word"
wasn't snacks fairly lax about CP tho?
It was a different time on the internet as a whole. Not going to defend it, but that wasn't the reason he was fired, but he was also lax on OC, which allowed it to thrive.
Back in the day, Yea Forums quite literally had no rules.
what's wrong with that?
I don't know, I've been around long enough to think that the old delicious cake meme was just an ironic in-joke meant to shock normalfags visiting the site, and that sick fucks were in the minority, but maybe I've been wrong all along?
I hate people who think lolicon was all ironic
No dude, it's normal. We think cute young girls are nice to look at. We want to see them happy. Sick fucks would be people who want to see them hurt, but for some reason it's cool to say you hate kids, and creepy to say you like them.
In all my years of catching CP here and there I've never seen any penetration or even any fingering, nothing shitty like that. No unhappy faces, no creepy coercion like you see in Lifetime movies on the subject.
Just cute kids being cute and maybe playing at being sexy. The kind of thing Charles Dodgson was into. The kind of thing literally everyone has been cool with, or at most uninterested in, until recently.
>Delicious cake
>Ironic
This is how you spot a newfag pretending to be an oldfag
>wojak
Hopefully to hell.
>ytmnd dies
>king-cheetah dies
The 2020s aren't gonna be fun at all
We doing this now?
ironmouse.za.org/dragon/
I see no reason to doubt this user's genuineness, just.. someone who missed the point. The problem is these people think they're in the majority. I come across them from time to time.
Really? Huh, honestly, even back then I completely knew it wasn't ironic. Then again, back then, lolicon was EVERYWHERE, not just on Yea Forums. It was part of the otaku culture of the time. Yotsuba was just the exception to the rule, an exception that breaks my heart no longer is the case...
Good shit. Any site with a guestbook gets my approval. I remember when my fuckin DAD signed my guestbook. I miss him
there's no such thing as a point nobody missed. That's why hiveminding is wrong and spoonfeeding is always okay. man what I wouldn't give for translations of 80s lolicon magazines, with people writing in discussing why they love drawings of cute girls and what they think about fanservice and .. serious fucking discussions.
At last we truly became the men now, dog.
>80s lolicon magazines
I remember reading one that had a chapter of a guy doing Santa loli, but it turned out it was Santa's daughter and pissed off Santa just appears behind him and takes the guy against his will on his sled.
At least that was my gist, I don't know moonrunes and that was back in like 2003. Again, these sort of things were EVERYWHERE if you went to anime communities and fansites.
The Internet in general got way worse after trannies started being normalized and they began taking over entire communities like anime and video games.
>aeries dies is still alive
Funny, considering the name. Relevant moreso with FF7R.
Not only that, but normalfags and their shit social media turning the internet into an extension of real life and not an escapist world.
2010 was when social media became mainstream
2014 was when /pol/ took over and now it's all sjws vs /pol/ (wait sorry, it's the alt-right now) on the internet
sauce
>go back to neopets after years of not playing
>forgot my old account's password so I had to create a new account
>name my new neopet "LilB_The_BasedGod"
>10 minutes later
>the fucking mods kill him and now he's gone
>never went back to play again
Wait seriously? What the fuck why.
They have never been happy with religious references. It's basically a public school over there. No hugging, no kissing, no God. Surprised it even let that name be chosen.
Arigato user-kun. Nice to see megatools still works as well.
I too sorely miss the days of seeing normalfags catch a public banhammer just for revealing their normalfaggotry.
>forgot my old account's password
I still remember my old password, too bad I was shitcanned years ago because apparently 18-month-long inactivity is a freezable offense.
God, I still remember ZONE's Yea Forums anniversary animation.
The Picture Shrines are still around too.
ironmouse.za.org
I wonder whatever happened to the Yea Forums rage comics artist
Definitely not the case. you got banned for a different reason. Someone might have hacked your account and taken it for a ride
Man, this website introduced me to great fads and great music. The most capital of Fs.
2nd person to post that here. I see why, it's great
But it has a solid lack of Edward. thank god for geocities.ws
... well, Yea Forums thinks the link is spam, but.. geocities. ws/cowgirl_ed2/index.html
>row row
Fight da powa...
>tfw Geocities Japan is fucking gone forever
It's just isn't fair
.ws didnt back anything up from there? bogus.
Please go back to Redddit
So what imageboard/forum would you go to when Yea Forums officially dies?
I used to say not4 but 4+4 is okay
We joke, but when this place goes. We have no where else to go.
It's just down for maintenance you retard
Didn't he get arrested for fucking his little sister?
as long as we all go to the same place, it will become home
earlier it was giving a pure unadulterated 404, you ps1 abomination.
Last I saw, he made a Game Grumps animation. After that, he disappeared into the ether.
No, that was me.
Yikes at this whole post
tumblr's tagging system is awful though, it was good a few years ago but now most of the time you end up finding completely unrelated shit, it's terrible
If people who yikes ever approve of me, I'll know I've gone horribly wrong.
also people who squick
Lolsorandumb the website. The only way to enjoy it is to be 12 years old or less.
i think the new internet heard we were talking shit about it
>Last I saw, he made a Game Grumps animation
Link?
youtube.com
I dunno if it was ever truly confirmed to be him, but it could have been.
>Sean Connery outlived it
Hot damn that's great. Shame he disappeared, guys got talent
>not 4+3chan
yeah that one's okay too. Honestly my familiarity isnt what it oughtta be.
but user the people buying data bacteria are oil companies who need to keep something very valuable like oil field locations for a long time and only need to read it once or twice.
420chan
I thought that place shut down
I'd take an EMP to as many server farms as possible and attempt to decentralize the Internet.
glhf data centers are pretty decentralized today. if i were to start anywhere it would be KCMO but then you're mostly hitting hospital servers so you're doing more harm than good.
isn't that the opposite of what would help that happen?
I'd just invent time travel and enjoy the internet back when it was free and untainted by corporate greed
stop blaming greed, this is about incompetence
desire for money is behind everything good we ever made. And good things make money.
The biggest problem of today is how little money things make, and they blame that on us, on the old internet, when things were free.. but it's their fault for being morons and running shit in an unprofitable way
That's why I'd hit up as many as possible. Even if it doesn't collapse an entire structure, it won't be very stable until after people evacuate.
The modern Internet is too centralized. If you want things to be as they were, break up the social networks that prevent people from finding common interest before becoming friends.
Imagine an Internet where all of your online friends are just complete randos who were assigned to you by chance, without any hint of common ground at all. This is basically what the modern Internet is; you put yourself out there and hope that you don't run into anybody who wants to dress you up as a Barbie (unless you're into that sort of thing). I theorize that meme culture has rapidly expanded in the way that it has simply because memes are simple enough to create and spread that we find common ground through those simplified thoughts and expressions made real by the meme.
Nah, corporations would have found their way online regardless.
The problem was never the Internet or the people running it. The problem was letting everybody online at the same time.
no I meant arent the servers part of what makes the internet less centralized? or do I not understand that
I know they would have. I just want to experience those few short moments of joy again. Because the future is bleak.
2x4chan I guess? I dunno, man.
I've been here for the majority of my life.
I can't think of anywhere else I'd want to be other than here.
The "centralized Internet" refers to how 80% of Internet users spend their time on fewer than ten websites, most/all of which are social networks. Take them out and the people scatter to the far winds.
Get ahead of the curve and make yourself cyberpunk.
Jesus... I got my drivers licence when Yea Forums launched.
oh, I thought this was like that thing Silicon Valley was talking about, where everyone's internet just collectively runs on all the devices and servers
I was _9 when Yea Forums was launched.
Yes, I've been here for that long.
No, my parents did not supervise my internet usage.
Like, at all.
F to the OG
that's because parents back then weren't fucking morons
actually maybe they were, I have no idea when Yea Forums started
Except there was barely anyone on the internet in the '90s and we were all weirdos. Now there are billions of normalfags with smartphones. The internet is already ruined, there's no way to go back to the way things were except a community that keeps most people out, and for that you'd need identities, so it couldn't be anonymous.
Politics is tabloid newspaper reading, cable news watching normalfag outrage shit and should have been kept out of here as much as possible, but that bridge has been well and truly fucking burned.
we can get everything okay again, we just have to train people. the sheep are fucking easy to train, we can make them into cool guys like us.
Then the real trick, we teach them how to be individuals.
You wanna write them one? Think it'll be harder to crack than recaptcha?
They didn't know how bad the internet could really be.
And Yea Forums launched in 2003.
Paying final F
isnt captcha stupidly easy to crack and kinda pointless?
we need to just track bots and prosecute the shit out of people who make and use them.
I have no idea what parents were like at the time, I was on my last year of highschool (which it turned out was my junior year. had all the credits) and dad gave me my own place for most of that (so he could go spend more time with his gf and i'd watch his house)
Computing never escaped the defense labs and became some pure technology of liberation, that’s a libertarian myth about a cultural shift that happened in the industry the late 1960s. Computer networks evolved from centralized air defense systems designed to fight a nuclear war to decentralized counterinsurgency systems. The state’s application of force evolved from direct application of kinetic force (“monopoly on violence”) to surveillance and coercion. The fact that there was a brief era of free expression and cheap web hosting is kind of miraculous when you understand this. You should be happy you were able to experience it before the authorities learned how the internet worked and centralized peer to peer communication through a handful of gatekeeper websites and corporations.
>prosecute
Costs money each time. Mandatory $5 guest pass to post at all is the only way to go.
God, I remember Yea Forums before captchas. Fucking moot lied, he said captchas would be "temporary" and then the greedy fuck made Yea Forums pass.
God forbid if I ever make a reddit account. But would truly have to be my last resort if I can't find anything else.
The pass service is absolutely not worth it on it's own. You buy a pass when you use Yea Forums a lot and want to support it, and at no other time.
One of the classics
>IS Yea Forums NEXT?
If only.
Just think of how free we could finally be if this hell pit died?
Congratulations on Pork Barrel Job Security, user.
