I can't believe they made a wackier Bojack when literally everyone hates the wacky parts of Bojack.

No.

it seems to kinda work here i must admit..

How do I get a bf like Speckle?

Talk to people irl

It's the absurdist comedy the world needed in this time of ultra sincerity. If they drop all pretension next season it'll be for the best. Even though I doubt it'll be as big as Bojack seeing how it's blunt with tits and sex despite being marketed to prude Americans.

Favorite moments?

I'm 5 minutes into the first episode and it's already my least favorite thing ever. WHERE IS THE JOKE BUCKLEY?

Watch half-way through the first episode then skip the other half, skip the second episode, watch the third. It mellows out and actually becomes better.

I watched this show in its entirety last night, and I loved it. I'll admit the first couple episodes had some jokes that didn't land, but from that point on I think it's really enjoyable and occasionally even pretty heartfelt.

If you skip the second episode then you don't get to have chips for lunch.

A lot of that has to do with Todd being both annoying and a forced cutaway from the A plot.

Haven't seen the show yet, but the reason I'm not too big on wacky bojack sometimes is because of the clash with the serious parts. Sometimes it's good contrast, sometimes kills the mood. I feel like committing to one or the other is a stronger move than having a foot in both.

God no totally no.
This is how we see the world

Tuca and Bertie is more wacky than the wackiest parts of Bojack, and has lots of cartoon nudity.

>this time of ultra sincerity
LOLWOT

smarmy irony is an epidemic disease

On the internet maybe, but not in animation. Everything is either deepest lore fart sniffing bullshit, or really simple absurdism that even most children would find unimpressive

Where have you been lately? Smarmy attitudes are a dime a dozen in current cartoons.

Did anyone else get bothered by Bertie just telling Tuca out of the blue she was molested? There was really only build up to it in that episode.

Smarmy =/= ironic. John Oliver is smarmy, but he believes every word he says

Survive rape

Some women, sure. Why the need to group them all? Plenty sure some men also see the world like this, others dont.

It adds depth to a lot of scenes in retrospect, like

>why she's so shamefully attracted to an assertive, older authority figure
>why she broke down crying when Speckle started the lightest roleplay
>why she's so afraid to grow and improve herself (the last person to try to help her achieve her goals raped her)

>Walking down the middle of a road

Somebody fine these two.

use seed

Underrated joke

Sort of, but dialed up to the extreme for comedy's sake. For instance, I've reconsidered an outfit because I just don't feel like dealing with comments, but Bertie shredding her romper is taking that feeling to a humorous extreme.

Idk senpai I'm conservative, and that might be, but fuck me if the show isn't funny. I'm glad I gave it a chance. There were several parts in the first episode that were fucking hilarious, and in all fairness, the women feel realistic despite being bird people.

You need to lighten up.

I think that was extreme even for their universe. Also the plumber did nothing wrong. Yeah he was a little bit sexist, but Bertie implications that he would hook up spying equipment had no valid reasons.

>no valid reasons
It's the trauma. Although I figured the romper-shredding was more from the dudes at the park than the creepy plumber.

Also as an aside I love Bertie's squish-face she does when awkward, it feels like a nice little bit of character animation.

i don't get it
please explain

It's just Broad City with Bojack visuals.

This is a strange show. Reminds me of the psychedelic style of the early 70s

Am woman. And no. Boobs don't leave us at an offcolor comment. We hate sexual harassment seminars too.

tits or gfto here, no this is a trash show.

so there's some good Speckle porn already, right?

>Boobs don't leave us at an offcolor comment.
Don't you lie!

I’m glad to know others share my disdain for Todd and the wackier parts of Bojack.

I remember browsing the Bojack reddit a couple years back and everyone there seemed to think Todd was a really well-developed funny character

We do NOT live in a time of ultra sincerity. It’s the exact fucking opposite. We NEED some genuine shit.

That's reddit, and reddit actively shits on criticism of the topic of the subreddit you're on.

This show is fucking awful. I hate everybody in it.

When you have terminal irony poisoning, anything less than ten layers looks like sincerity

That's the point. NOBODY is comfortable with the maintenance guy just being able to enter their apartment whenever he feels like it, but it's a fact of life. This is a real situation that thousands of people, not just women, face. Although men are less "He's going to hide and rape me" and more "I hope I put the Rainbow Dash daikimura back in the closet"

I gotta say, after the wacky first episode, it gets more grounded, but is still off the wall compared to Bojack. It's not too bad.

Only if they had a woodcock in it, then yes.

Paheal only has 4 for the entire series.

all of Tuca

You misunderstand, this works because the absurdism is sincere

Looks better then Bojack. As in it looks like something I'd actually enjoy. Fuck Bojacks Beta-cuck misery cartoon. Not even one episode of that show was good. Guy needs to man up.

Agreed, I was really struck and surprised by it. It was also a very well made scene. I’ve blurred out trauma/bottled up shit in a similar fashion.

just bird yourself

It really should have just been a 1, maybe 2-season show. The whole "waaahhh I'm so depressed waaahh I'm so self-loathing and self-destructive waaahh I'm ruining my life waaaahhh midlife crisis waaaaahhh" shit got old really quickly.
That jogger's little encouraging speech at the end of the second season could and should have been the last scene of the show.

I think Sarah Lynn death was the nail in the coffin for me. The character was honestly trying to get herself better, but Bojack pulled her into her pity party.

If he had made her relapse that would have been one thing. But the fact he kept her drugged up until she O.D so the show could have another cheap death was too much.

I have mixed feelings. The first episodes put me in a mood that made me NOT want to like it. But then you get genuinely good stories and, in retrospective, you realize that the characters are well written and executed.

I still don't know what they wanted to do with the first two or three episodes.

How can people have such a shit taste?

NO HE IS A PURE GOOD BOY!!!

He is such a nice guy damn. Idk what artist can bring themselves to make porn of the good guy

>how do I find a cute dork boyfriend
1 - go to places where dorks gather
2 - hit on cute ones
3 - ???
4 - profit

The most important thing is that I had some good genuine laughs every episode, and that's what matters in a comedy.

There are a few bits where it gets overly serious that I didn't particularly love but they don't overshadow the absurdism and comedy

What's so bad about the second half and the second episode?
