It all makes sense once you realize Bayverse Cybertronians are essentially medieval. They have a strong connection to mythology, they're relatively lowtech and have a tribalistic society. Cybertron is largely an undeveloped wasteland, courtesy of the Prime's extinction and normal Cybertronians being essentially a drone race. Another key aesthetic factor is the switch from "alien robots" to "robotic aliens". Non-humanoid designs are all around like Rampage and Devcon, which gives a fresh breath to the characters. Even a simple thing like Sideswipe's wheelfeet or FUCKING TOES make a substantial amount of sense compared to shiny boots on everyone.

Question: What are you planning on subtitling next?
Answer: No idea at the moment, but since there’s lots of untranslated material out there, I’m sure we’ll find something.

Question: Was this series very difficult to translate?
Answer: Yes and no. If a non-native Japanese were to translate this series on their own, there would probably be something lost or misinterpreted in the translation. Thankfully for our team, we have a wonderful friend and teammate named Taka-chan, who is a native born Japanese and fluent in both languages. She, like all of us, is a huge Transformer fan, and took a lot of time out of her busy schedule over the past year and a half to script and translate each episode. If there’s anyone you should be thanking for this series to have been translated, it’s her. :) On top of translating, there’s research that was needed to be done, since sometimes there’s references to old TV shows and movies in the series, and this needed to be explained. All of these instances have been recorded in the translator notes.

Question: Why are some of the character’s names different than certain Transformers fan and resource sites as well as from the IDW Beast Wars Sourcebook?
Answer: There are many Transformers fan sites out there which are great resources, with many fans devoting much time to put the information out there to help others understand / fill in the gaps on many different Transformers series. With respect to everyone, fan sites are not official (and neither are we) on how the character’s names are written. There is also some disagreement with how the IDW Beast Wars Sourcebook was created; and how many fans didn’t agree with the way some of the character’s names were spelled and their bios’ were written, since most of reference material was based from a fan page. For example, Colada is spelled Cohrada in the IDW Sourcebook. This is due to Ben Yee’s writing the character profiles based off an early VHS sub of a few episodes almost 20 years ago. After some discussion and a poll on the Allspark forums, it was decided to correct this by using the spelling which is named from the second of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar’s (El Cid) swords, the Colada. At the end of the day, it’s how one interprets it based on the katakana characters.

Question: I would like to customize the subtitles for myself; how do I do that?
Answer: There’s a site called MKVToolNix which hosts various tools to extract the subtitles with. Once to extract the files you can edit them with a subtitling program called Aegisub. We’ve also included the fonts we used in the package so that they appear the same in your customized authored version. Generally speaking, most fan groups like to burn or hard subtitle their files into the video to prevent others from using them. However, we don’t follow this same practice and leave ours as soft subtitles, allowing one to turn them on or off while watching.

Question: I’d like to use your subtitles and translate this show into my native language and publicly release this. Are you OK with me doing this?
Answer: Absolutely! We kindly ask that you contact us either by PM, or on our Facebook page before doing so, as well as providing us the credit in the subtitles with your release. The more that others can get to watch and enjoy this series in their native language, the better it is for the entire community. :)

Question: For some reason, it doesn’t look like VLC is using the fonts properly. How can I fix this?
Answer: You can either copy all the fonts provided in the Extras folder into your fonts folder within C:\Windows\Fonts or right click on each of them included in the package and install them. Unfortunately, since we don’t use either OSX or Linux, we cannot provide any advice on how to install these on those operating systems. However Google can help you with that :)

Question: Are you getting compensated somehow?
Answer: No. Just as we did Car Robots, Zone, Legends of the Microns, and Beast Wars II, we do these projects for free and for fans to enjoy, and are not to be sold in any shape or form. This series in particular is considered one of the last holy grail's among fans, and we’re excited to be able to finally share it with everyone. We hope everyone appreciates the hard work and hundreds of hours that went into creating this.

Wheeljack describes the skitters as an invasive species from the A'ovan homeworld; the A'ovans originally appeared in Titan's 2007 Transformers magazine as a civilization locked in an endless conflict with another species on their planet, the warlike Thraal. The Thraal aren't specifically mentioned here, but the skitters are said to have stowed away aboard A'ovan "refugee ships," and Wheeljack muses that their home is by now an "irradiated wasteland."

Number 5:

Prowl feeds his pet a diet of skitters; they were previously established to be an introduced species to Cybertron back in issue #2.
Confirming what was implied back in issue 2, this issue confirms that Cybertron's population of A'ovan were displaced from their homeworld by the Thraal, again hearkening back to the history of the two races as first related in issue #3 of Titan's Transformers magazine.
Rubble's muddled recollection of Cybertron's many organic immigrants include a race that he misremembers as either the "Akluthan" or the "Aklutheen;" assuming that he's referring to one of the many pre-existing alien races in Transformers lore, it seems a safe bet that he's talking about the Akalouthan, who previously appeared in the Universe comic.

Just like Rung, Alchemist Prime, and Nightbird, I want to see her show up as a recurring character in continuities going forwards, and to get a figure.

Not a fan of her as Arcee’s love interest, which kind of came out of nowhere as a cheap way to make her go from a Dwarf Slayer to a kindergarten teacher. I really enjoyed her as the backup Bumblebee, and would like to see her on Team Rodimus in the same role.

A Team Rodimus where Team Optimus doesn’t have to all die though, obviously.

But there isn’t much to drive a connection other than pairing off Arcee ahead of the end and stock “my opposite completes me” tropes.

Its played off like the exact same kind of relationship Cyclonus and Tailgate have, without the long evolution of relationship we have seen evolve, them overcoming trauma, fighting for each other, almost losing each other repeatedly, external tests of their relationship, and their union being overseen by a religious figure.

Then again, instead of adopting an at-risk child Arcse helps raise entire generations of Earth inhabitants. So I guess they get extra credit there.

I hated everything about IDW's Arcee.

Hopefully new Arcee won't have the baggage the old one has. She's probably a lesbian but aside from that, no fucked up origin stories or a crazy psychopath who kills everyone easily. that'd be swell.

they missed the biggest oppurtunity of them all.

They could've had Functionist Primus fight this Unicron.

Both endings would have made the other better. As it stands, even the way Unicron is destroyed is underwhelming.

I don't dislike the idea of Optimus sacrificing himself like that, though i kind of wish Megatron was there. Would've been so great to see Prime and Megatron reunite one more time.

Dark Cybertron honestly thematically made for a better finale cause the casts of all the comics (at the time) came together to fight a greater threat but instead this big grand finale missed a huge portion of the continuity's cast.

I disagree. The end of Unicron was good because it served as an end to all of Brber's plots started since RID # 1, does not make sense to mix both comics. Although you could modify the end of LL, as reveal that the aliens were in the past Quintessons and also have references to Unicron, as that the reason that they are stuck in another dimension would have connection with the Transformers (and they would have connection with the origin of Cybertron, so the molds of planet and also Pentius had a spark) and Unicron (so the mural).

Transformers: Bumblebee Boosts Viacom Q2 2019 Earnings

Earlier this week, Viacom (parent company of Paramount Pictures) president and CEO Bob Bakish attended the 47th Annual J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference, to outline new achievements by the company.

Mr. Bakish stated that Transformers: Bumblebee did incredibly well even on the 2nd quarter of 2019. It may be due to the Home Release sales which are happening right now. He also highlighted the massive loss incurred by Transformers: The Last Knight and even going as far as ridiculing the movie by stating that the 5th movies was “a quote unquote – Transformers movie“.

“Even in 2019 [we] had strong performance from a series of titles. Bumblebee; which was the most recent Transformers movie is a great example of Jim [Gianopulos]’s ability to reset a franchise. The last “Transformers” film we probably lost over a $100 million. Bumblebee is a better movie: the story was better, the characters were better. It was done in a more fiscally responsible way and we’re making nice money on it.”

While he did not elaborate much regarding the future of the franchise, 2019 was told to be a quiet year for Paramount with majority of major films planned for 2020 and beyond; which starts this October. We do believe that if we hear something about the next Transformers movie, it would be around the final quarter of this year if not sooner.

If Scorponok and Zarak were separate dudes, what should their relationship be? I want him to be tragic but like, he becomes disproportionally monstrous.
