Its a dated spectacle fighter, originally about an anime styled take on dante's inferno, now a saga that loosely involves slaying demons but is mostly a family drama.
Just play 5, its a good intro to it all

they're action games like metal gear rising and bayonetta, but with a high focus on pulling off combos and looking stylish. They're all on steam, 1,3&5 are the best ones so pick up the HD collection if it interests you

The emo kid is actually the samurai sword guy the whole time, but that's an actual whole nother thing involving the protagonist, his brother and his nephew/son
