Got a few things signed at a local con. I also finally finished up my collection of Palmiotti and Gray's Jonah Hex and All-Star Western run (excluding Yosemite Sam and No Way Back).
You will always shine in my book. Althought posting straight up might help a bit.
Reposting newish purchases and the link to the last Loki storytime, will lose the name now that I dont need it for storytimes

been watching this documentary series over and over. the Image Boys episode and the Romitas episode are so great. wish there was more stuff like this. RIP stan
>I also finally finished up my collection of Palmiotti and Gray's Jonah Hex and All-Star Western run (
Nice, hold on to those trades.
That stuff is likely NEVER getting printed again. Didio used all of his goodwill/influence as Publisher to get them printed once, and they probably won't happen again.
Went to a con recently, got an autograph from Stan Sakai.
Also spent two weeks' pay on comics and mangas. 37 kilos (a little over 80 pounds), including the huge-ass Usagi Yojimbo book, too bad I didn't think to get a good photo.
Was able to complete the best Batman run ever.
Made my first IST purchase. Besides the wait they’re great. The books are in perfect condition, which is always a concern when I order TPB ‘s online.
>which is always a concern when I order TPB ‘s online.
usually it's hardcovers that are riskier because the corners can be bent in
Congrats dude!
Buddy surprised me by getting my ASW custom bound and HC format.
Palmiotti liked it so much that he did this insane Hex inside.
>ASM omni 3 is like 500 bucks now
OO wee. Remember kiddies, omnibuses (particularly Marvel since those always go OOP) are the new collector's items. even if you're not sure you want it, buy it. free money
basically true
I went to a Comic Con today. Didn't find anything interesting and forgot the book I wanted to have signed at home. I did however buy a mystery box, which was stupid, so now I have a John Stewart Funko.
Fucking nice dude. Might have to look into getting some of my trades custom bound.
>John Stewart Funko

You look like i feel. Sideways and under appreciated
Watch the Rise and Fall of the Comicbook industry. It is really good
do you mean this?
youtube.com
I mean I feel relatively appreciated.
i really need to figure out out to get shit bound
Can somebody shed some light on this? Got it at a used bookstore for a dollar earlier today, but on the inside it says something about there only being 500 or 600 copies.
It's not going to make a difference to me since I'm not planning on flipping it if I like it after reading, just confused since I don't remember hearing about Marvel doing limited print runs with trades.
Only thing I've bought since the last thread.
That's the sad thing about living in Australia; you need to get basically everything online. There's only 1 LCS within 200km of me and it's been awful for years.
Thanks, it's an honour. It's actually my second funko, but the other one glows in the dark and me and my remaining brain cell can't resist something like that.
But the con wasn't a total waste because I did get to watch as one comic artist went on a rant about how useless editors are, which was pretty fun.
Finally got my Berserk Omni from Walmart, fuck Amazon.
Same price, S&H was another $6, but they got it to me in a little over 24 hours.
Which would be the best option for Vol 2, Rightstuf or IST?
That is the one. It doesn't put the kid gloves ob Liefeld like Yea Forums has been trained to think
>mfw when I finally got to my LCS on FCBD the only thing left was that piece of shit 25cent Villain thing from DC
Our Favorite Thing is My Favorite Thing is Monsters was great. Plus, it has an ad for a new Meg, Mogg, and Owl book.
The Vampirella was disappointing, but Busiek's story was nice.
I already read the Busiek Vampi storu and it was ok. I am more interested in where Priest will go
>tfw your store didn't have Dragonfly and Dragonflyman #1 on FCBD
You can't say that and NOT name them
My wife gifted me the infinity War and Thanos vs Avengers omnis for my birthday, and I’m going to pick up that ASM 4 omni next week or whatever.
My shelves are in disorder, so I’m not taking pic.
IIRC it was Paul Renaud, but I'm not good with names or faces so it could have been one of the other guests. Not that they didn't all seem to agree with him to some degree.
She sounds like a winner desu, make sure to hold on to her
Yeah, she is great.
This was really popular when they were trying to capitalize off the fervor for "variant" dust jackets.
As you can see by the fact that it was a dollar, it didn't work. Most can be found for cheap with a remainder mark along the top or bottom. Just enjoy the story.
don't listen to this guy. that trade contains the first appearance of Red Skull's belly-button ring and will probably put your daughter through college one day, so wrap it up and store it in a dark place.
My first TCAF pickups. All personally inscribed.
Thanks, figured it wasn't worth shit, but can't really beat Waid Cap I haven't read for a dollar.
>variant dust jackets
I had no idea this was a thing, but it's a special kind of retarded. As if variant covers didn't fuck the market enough.
>I had no idea this was a thing,
isn't that the same as when Marvel does their "direct market" cover vs. bookstore for most of their hardcovers?
>shine
you're talking about Autism On Parade.
Is GL fag here to explain the fridge scene?
Is it worth it to spend money on a statue I like of my favorite character? Why do other people buy statues?
You can ride on the clown float.
Really excited to see where this goes
There were no mermaids :(
How much we talking? If you can afford it and aren't living above your means, you should go for it. /toy/ collecting is a lot of fun.
$250 for a 12 inch statue, weighing around 2 pounds, looks very high quality, and imports from Japan. If I do, it'll be the only statue of my favorite character.
You should absolutely go for it, then.
I'll bite, show us a photo.
I already showed it here before
Nice!
Neat, though you better make sure to hide that shit when your parents visit.
Adventures is my favorite run too
Is ASW good? I've been thinking of going into a lot of western comics (since it was fairly popular to make in the 40-60s, right)? Any good recs?
That's fantastic, you should go for it.
It’s a rabbit hole. Don’t
Jonah Hex (from the mid 2000s) into All Star Western was fantastic.
It had horrible sales, but because Didio was a fan and because Palmiotti/Gray have lots of friends in the industry, the book was kept alive well below cancellation levels.
All Star Western was the New 52 continuation and wasn't as good, but still worth reading.
The trades are super out of print though, so good luck physically buying it.
I can't tell what makes statues high or lower quality, so I can't tell if it's a good deal or not.
bump
What's your Yea Forums white whale /shelf/?
OOP marvel omni's that I'm never expecting to be reprinted
>Kirby Thor vol 1
>Captain Britain
>Wolverine and the X-Men
come to mind
It was this Agent of Asgard Vol 2 trade. I still think it was the last one on sale in the country.
How do you narrow in and develop a comic collection?
Aside ASW any other good Western Cowboy comics?
>narrow in
Only buy books you know you'll reread
>develop
Buy more books
Right now I suppose it's Hitman.
Everything else I want is just a matter of getting them, like finishing out a few manga series, and stuff that's not coming out for a while like the next Sunstone HC.
Full series of Absolute Sandman?
>Hitman
I got them all used and super cheap, just have to put up with library markings.
Okay, but how do I get a collection like
read stuff. like stuff. buy stuff
You buy books. I don't understand what you're asking.
Is there any logic to the Marvel logo colors on their paperback spines?
Most of them seem to have white background, red text while others are reversed.. and then there's Hickman's F4 run which are white background, black text.
Has there been any variation after the Marvel NOW! change?
Legion of 3 Worlds. It's super hard to find here unless you want it in German (because they've had multiple printings!) and always way to expensive when you do find it.
Starlight is randomly like really good
Then don't answer his question.
The only possible answer could be to buy books.
is Lin chill in person
>how do you curate a museum
>you just buy stuff and throw it on a shelf
all the floppies from Over the EDGE
Yeah but seriously though? What other answer could there possibly be? If you have one share it with the class.
but really thats what they do
Only book from the Marvel NOW! range I have is Ellis' Moon Knight from a few years ago, which has a normal spine.
Reposting from last thread.
Do any of you display your favorite singles? I mostly buy omnis and trades, but I occasionally buy floppies when enamored with the cover. I'm not sure how I'd want to display them. Especially while keeping them in good condition
Isn't piled on top of each other like that bad for the books?
Cheeky.
Recent purchases. Can't be bothered to take a new picture.
My shelf minus my new Bill Ward book.
Custom bound them, or just put them on the shelf. I got rid of a lot of floppies for trade versions so I have very little, but the ones I do are just on my shelf. (,Pic related, in the far right is Milligan's Enigma.). The shelves are all over the place just now as I'm in the process of getting new shelves up.
Manga shelf.
Forgot picture.
Where did you get the Berserk Deluxe?
I ordered on amazon and they keep telling me, they're unable to deliver; it's not in stock.
germanfag btw
Also subscribed to the 2000ad ultimate collection.
Parcel arrived on Saturday, but sadly the judge death figure was already broken.
Emailed them on Saturday when it arrived but weekend so probably won't respond till today or some time this week.
Barnes and Noble. Had it in store on the day it was released. Placed an order online to pick it up in store and got it for about $20 off.
I already own 39 volumes of Berserk but damn if I don't feel jelly about the way those deluxe editions look.
Don't want to spend the money though.
>custom bound
I don't want my comics ruined
Does DC have any planes to release the whole Metal event in one book? Cause having it in four separate books is kinda bullshit. Anyway having a bunch of Green Lantern shit coming in the mail
Where can I get high quality bookshelfs?
Furniture stores if you want legit high-end bookshelves that match the aesthetic of your house. If you just want something sturdy and reliable though, office supply stores are your best bet.
Is a better bookshelf really worth the investment?
>inb4 Ghost Rider
Are the Immortal Hulk trades worth picking up or should I just wait for the hardcover coming out in October?
He gave sketches to me and the other two people there and also was able to process credit card payments on his phone (though the dongle for swiping didn't work) which was a Godsend since I had no cash. So, yes, pretty chill guy.
Fffuuuck that's sweet dude. I've got an entire run of ASW in issues too, was planning on getting it and the previous run bound at some point. Mind sharing more pics when you get the chance? Did you friend design the cover and flaps too?
Is buying trades or floppies at conventions cheaper than buying them online?
50/50.
Some are selling because they just want to get rid of them. Others think they're collectables and want more because they're at a place specifically for them.
>Sideways
Anything Rocafort is great
>There were no mermaids :(
fuck those shameless sluts
Ruined how?
Compile and custom bind all of 70’s through #38 5yl Losh. I have all the floppies for five years later. It’s fairly cheap to get the rest, so I’ll likely do it this summer.
the pages get torn apart and ruined in the process
Every published thing by John Severin, Richard Corben, Joe Kubert and Russ Heath.
Where do I go to get a custom bound trade?
How much would custom binding 5 issues or more cost?
Build one
The other two Absolute Promethea volumes. Got book two for 25% off cover price this weekend
I’m honestly not sure what you are saying. i seen binds and the pages look fine.
just wait for a trade
Y-yeah. Imagine liking a comic that will never be collected like that, ahaha...
What fucking comics aren't collected that you would risk losing your floppies in shipping over?
>What fucking comics aren't collected
New apt. Same shelves.
I like the red bookshelves and the cat
I'm worried the cat will drop anything off the top shelves.
Planned purchases for upcoming releases?
>Joker: Bronze Age Omnibus
>Bad Gateway
>Spider-Man Noir: The Complete Collection
>Wonder Woman: Year One Deluxe Edition
>remove cat
>add cat tree/tower
>remove gap in-between bookcases
>add bookcase to put top shelf stuff on
>cat-proof bookcase by putting aluminum foil and double-sided tap on top / stuff that makes noise
>pick up cat each time he jumps on bookcase
>move bookcase away from window and replace with cat tree (cat wants view outside window)
if all of this fails, maybe try asking /an/ for advice. This is just off top of my head.
Nah. He’s a good boy. Steranko’s History of Comics is safe.
>he doesn't have a favorite comic that's never been reprinted/collected
I can feel the plebiness emanating from you. Here's some series I'm planning to get bound off the top of my head;
>Ostrander/Mandrake's The Spectre
>Wagner/Grant/Kennedy's Outcasts
>Otomo/Nagayasu's Legend of Mother Sarah
>Wolfman/Kupperberg's Vigilante
>Conway/JLGL's Atari Force
I needn’t wait.
I’m not the one with irrational fear of losing my oh so precious floppies, 90% of which are worth 2-3 bucks and sit unappreciated in a long box.
The movies are bringing a fresh wave of casuals.
floppies of uncollected or never reprinted series can easily go higher than $2
Maybe if you're a bad shopper. Just get the lot in bulk, it's usually cheaper and infinitely less hassle. I always just wait til I'm at cons to go longbox digging so I'm not getting fucked in the ass by online shipping charges
I’m still not gripped by fear. And “ruined, and torn up by the process” has somehow turned into “damaged while shipping”
I’m going to let you have this one. It seems pretty important to you.
congrats, you just gave the writer 5% of the cover price in royalties
This is my goal too, but I'm having an impossible time finding the Legionnaires issues.
20-30 is the sweet spot. They're lighter than omniboo because of the paper stock being thinner than glossy pages.
You must be new to comics.
Rarely, actually. You just have to know how to shop. The comics I can flip for $100+ usually cost me $1-5. It's all about patience.
uk anons how are silver-acre for floppies? do they usually come bagged and boarded or do i have to buy that shit myself and hope the comic comes undamaged?
T. Pat Mills.
Don't give a fuck bro. It wouldn't be any better if I bought the trades from the 2000ad shop at 15 quid for the paper backs.
If pat cared so much he wouldn't write for 2000ad. He got fucked hard during fleetway and now rebellion yet he still writes be material for them.
I feel a little bad for the artists though.
Mills has like 30 books in this collection and yet he's upset he's being conned.
This next couple of months is gonna make me go crazy. July Here I come.
>Huge Vampi Kickstarter ending May 16th
>Christopher Priest ongoing
>Alex Ross signed cover
>Joe Jusko cover
>Adam Hughes cover
>Joyce Chin Lithograph
>Gail Simone with Playboy issue (Spring 2019)
>Vampirella FCBD
>new Oversized 11x14 Jose Gonzalez Art Book
>Vampirella Trading Cards and Pins
>Jose Gonzalez Statue
>Vampirella 50th Box Set
But are you getting the door poster?
That was for the 40th anniversary though
Also, yes.
How do I get into Vampirella? I really liked the Morrison/Millar series from the 90's.
>Vampirella: Essential Warren Years
>Master Series Omnibus
This should be an okay start.
bump
I received Hellboy in hell omnibus today. I forgot to take a picture
I don't remember this guy posting in awhile
What is with these dumb as fuck questions all over /shelf/ thread? Buy the one you want...
He could be any one of us
Have you thought about getting the BPRD books?
Fuck off
Admittedly BPRD’s ending was shit, but that seems a little extreme.
I got PoF 1 to 4 and HoE 1 and 2. Next month i could order 3 an 4
>tfw preordered volume 2 ages ago on amazon
Can't wait to get it on time and see anons seething about their delays.
Absolutely
Check buyfag.moe, there should be something there about figure quality. As long as it looks like the character and doesn't look shoddy then it should be fine. As for whether it's worth the money, depends on how much you are willing to spend for a character you like.
For me, if it looks quality and I love the character then I'd pay a crazy price.
Amazon ran out of stock so fucking fast, I wouldn't use it for popular stuff unless you're preordering way before the release date.
When is your Bersek supposed to come?
I don't have a date for v2. My v1 came in April 4th.
Hows it going lads.
Picked up the trade paperbacks for DC rebirth action comics volumes 2 and 3, and crisis on infinite earths should be delivered to my door by the time I get home from work.
any good runs on AC I should get? Is the AC run (john Byrne?) immediatly after crisis good? been enjoying dan jurgens run and I wanna stay away from bendis' AC.
Since some people are talking about custom binds, here's some I had done a few years ago.
"But user, what about..."
>Losing them in shipping?
Tracking and insurance. Also this almost never happens
>Ruining the books??!!
Who cares? They can either sit on my shelf in a bind or sit in a filing cabinet. They're not valuable, so what difference does it make if their spines have been glued together?
>The value?!
Again, they're not valuable. The most expensive issue among all of these was probably a dollar, maybe two.
But more importantly, they have more personal value to me as part of a custom book on a shelf than as a random collectable in a plastic bag.
>readability?
The readability is fine. The two Marvels books have a little bit of a gutter loss since they were printed on super heavy paper with full bleed, but otherwise it's not a problem at all.
>the official releases?
Marvels doesn't have a single volume that collects the original plus Eye of the Camera.
Tales of the Marvels was a custom creation that would never get made by Marvel. ...until it did like 6 months after I bound this, but they collect slightly different issues.
1602 has no omnibus and likely never will.
Squadron Supreme Omnibus was garbage - $75 for just the original 12-issue series plus Death of a Universe. This collects all that plus the other original continuations of the story.
If you've ever thought about binding some books - do it. It makes your comics way cooler.
I probably have to wait on the statue and buy it for myself for Christmas. There's other stuff that I need to get first that'll make a dent in my wallet right now.
fucking Yea Forums, always flipping my pictures
Do they keep the ad pages?
Can you get cool front and back covers?
I got two funko’s for Christmas and I couldn’t stand looking at them so I painted their eyes so they would look less dead.
I liked the Wonder Man issue
They keep whatever pages you send them. Personally, I remove all the back pages (unless there's actual cover art on them, in which case they get turned into a fold-out spread), and I take out any pages that have ads on front and back.
There IS a certain charm about the old ads in classic comics, but when you're talking about 20+ issues in a single bind, there may be as many as 50 pages you can remove from the book by taking out ads.
As for covers, you can get art on covers, but I like the look of the plain ones. You can get whatever you want stamped, but each pass costs more money, so I just settle for the company logo and title. If I end up binding some series that are more important to me, I may make it look a little fancier.
The Wonder Man one is fantastic. Hell, they're all really solid, but I'm with you - that might be my favorite story.
BPRD Plague Of Frogs hardcovers
Rightstuf, because you can pre-order.
I'm sure it went up, but I never personally saw the deluxe get listed on IST.
I didn't even know Palmiotti was an artist. I feel like a pleb. That's fucking awesome.
I nabbed all of ASW during a sale at a local shop early this year. Got all of it for 20% off list. I've got about half of Jonah Hex for the same deal. In typing this, I just realized that's what I was going to get during their FCBD sale but I forgot and didn't go in JUST
What's the difference between action comics and superman comics? I guess same with batman and detective comics.
...
>I guess same with batman and detective comics.
Yes
all this modern technology and phones still can't take fuckin photos correctly
It's uploaded from my computer, though... where it's vertical.
I mean, action comics has superman, and as does the superman series. Why have 2 series with the same character
>Why have 2 series with the same character
before I give you the answer, I want you to hazard a guess. why would DC want multiple books for their most popular characters... hmm..
Oh, user. You have so much to learn. Is this your first day reading comic books?
I guess that makes sense
Just wait until you find out how many Batman, Spider-man, Wolverine, and Avengers comics there are.
Yes , yes you can. Here's a example , I took off the back covers to issues and all the double sided ads.
Example of the front cover
It helps that they're supposed to be masked imo, makes it look far more acceptable than if that was supposed to straight up be their eyes.
Example of a back cover
but it's not a REAL omnibus because it's not oversized !!!! IMPOSTER
I didn't want to do more than 20 issues per vol, when those omnibus get to thick they're a pain to read. Plus ketch is never getting a omnibus. 8
I meant paper size
Some phones/PC's save rotation information as metadata, and Yea Forums strips it when you post
Does Ghost Rider not have an omnibus?
>Why have 2 series with the same character
Superman and Batman each had like four books running at a time in the 1990s. The market could support it.
And Superman more than Batman had a single story running through each one (Batman caught up by the time the Bane stuff and NML happened)
Interesting... that's dumb. Any way around that?
Just the one collecting Aaron's run, which I passed on because it because I didn't care for it.
>I didn't even know Palmiotti was an artist.
He's mostly an inker/writer, but has done some regular penciling before.
He was a real workhouse as an inker. In the mid 2000s he would be inking or writing at least four books a month.
comicbookdb.com
Look at April 2006 for example (new titles, not reprints)
Inking
>Birds of Prey #91
>Daughters of the Dragon #2
>Doc Samson #2
>Fables #46
>Fury: Peacemaker #1
>Giant-Size Ms. Marvel #1 (one story)
>Punisher: Bloody Valentine #1
Writing/Co-Writing
>Daughter of the Dragon #2
>Hawkman #49
>Jonah Hex #4
figured youd get it for completionism's sake . what characterfag DOESN'T own a comic they know isn't great?
Oh god my dick
Who collects for completionism?
characterfags
Not me. I'm definitely not still buying walking dead in trades. Oh no, not at all.
The same kind of people that have 20 thousand dollars worth of statues
I always start a characater or team from volume 1 of a trade paperback.
Do these threads really have characterfags?
Have you seen Loki user?
Have you seen GL-user?
Or Ghost Rider user?
Ehh I own the trades, if I could it for cheap I would but I'm not spending over a 100 on it
no?
What did he mean by this?
>not knowing that reaction image
Christ how new are you?
I'm a bit of a Jonah Hex fag and an insanely jaded Spider-Man fag.

Almost any character or team has multiple "volume 1"s. Batman and Spider-man alone probably have a dozen or more each.
>there are people on Yea Forums right now who weren't born when that episode aired
y i k e s
Yeah I do it based on year or series or writer i.e dc rebirth action comics volume 1 or grant Morrison JLA volume 1
That's different than collecting for completionism, though. In fact, it's the exact opposite.
I'm still upset vertigo will never release the final animal trade.
Its shit and I know why they won't release it, but it does bother me. It's only like another 8 issues.
You mean theres people who start at the first appearance of a charcater up to today?
It's what I did for Batman
Not necessarily that, but people will buy a comic solely because X or Y character is in it.
But yes, there's people like:
which really makes very little sense, because the character from Batman in the 40s is a completely different character to the Batman of today. Both in terms of fictional canon and actual character traits.
Do you have autism or any other disorder?
Why would you do that to yourself user?

which comics fall into the good half?
The binding service is Heroes Rebound, they do an excellent job, they recommend up to 25 issues but since this one was around 35 it suffered some gutter loss in the middle. Nothing that ruins the experience, but as far as getting the 76 issue pre-flashpoint stuff done I’m gonna make sure I have 3 separate ones done.
Pretty sure they actually picked out covers and stuff for the front and back.
Out of your star wars collection?
Looks great on the shelf tho, can’t wait to get all those Hexs bound.
Thems my 3 favorite things, death, the acrid smell of gunsmoke, and HC Hex. Also just picked up #1 from my LCS recently. Couldn’t believe the deal I got
Not him, but Chewbacca is the best thing to come out of Marvel Star Wars
Yeah, curious what you think.
That series gets overlooked because of its low stakes, but man the art is fantastic.
>first volume is bold
>Volumes 5 and 6 are also bold, but Jonah Hex is in different colors
>not a single one of the titles lines up, except for 5 & 6
>the author placement is all fucking over the place
>even the logos at the bottom don't line up
>event the fucking trades are different heights
This shit is so maddening to me. It's one things when they are volumes from different runs or something, but those are supposed to be consecutive volumes. Why do companies continually mess that up?
Even though it's fucking Marvel Star Wars, at least seems to be relatively consistent in design.
Are there any series that notably look good on a shelf and not a complete mess like this? I know Vertigo and Image series generally do a better job at it. And obviously expensive lines like Absolutes.
>greg land is fantastic
>Are there any series that notably look good on a shelf and not a complete mess like this?
Dredd
The Vader series is goodfrom what I've heard. I dont read marvel star wars
Very nice man. Yeah I was thinking the 2005 run would have to be at least 3 volumes, shit would be so cash though. Looks like your guys did a good job of the design, I've seen some pretty uninspired/half-assed jobs before. Think I'd commission someone to do it proper, myself.
Actually since you're such a Hex fan, you might get a kick out of this; a Jose Luis Garcia Lopez original page from #10 of the original series I bought off the man last year
That’s killer dude Jose was at a con a couple years back with some but I was dead broke. Hoping he comes back soon.
You come here around Christmas time? I’m the one that runs the Hexmas specials.
My favorite time of year on this site.
If you mean the Casefiles I'd disagree, the length of each volume changes constantly and from what I recall the Dredd symbol isn't always consistent on the spine
Who the fuck said anything about Greg Land? Chewbacca's art was by Phil Noto. As far as I know, Land has never even done so much as a variant for Star Wars, but definitely no internal art.
The second Vader series is 10/10.
>1-12,0,13-34
ugh.. why not just do 0-34... i'm glad you custom people don't work for the big 2
I've only ordered prestige-format/magazines from them, IIRC they only came bagged but were in the described condition and I didn't have any complaints.
He seems to tour regularly enough, so fingers crossed! His pages are super cheap (3-400) so I'd jump at the chance if you get it again.
And yeah I usually stick my head in those threads, have some OC saved from a few years back I think. Hex always brings good threads
Hella sweet
You bring honor upon your family
Looks like Land has done a couple of variants.
Casefiles change a bit when color starts, and the cover's also change depending on the printing and the region
The only difference is the level of prestige that comes with it.
The bigger names and storylines DC wants to put a spotlight on get put on Superman and Batman, while Action and Tec are the second place. You're writing Batman or Superman, but you're not writing "Batman" or "Superman'.
Hey, we're not all autismos like that. And official publishers do stupid shit just as often, usually even more annoying than that.
>implying
That's not always true. It's just that Superman and Batman are more of the "primary" book. But, for instance, Grant Morrison was on Action despite being a much bigger name than Perez. But his story was a flashback/origin, so it was put in Action.
Nice
Blueberry
I downloaded a rip of the Playboy, the Vampi story is only 6 pages long, but it's not bad. I did however really like a bunch of the articles, nice interview of Frank Grillo
can you post a dropbox link or something?
the FCBD at my LCS had a draw you could enter and win stuff. I got lucky and won The Dark Knight III. Then I went to another LCS and he had Absolute Promethea book 2 for 25% off! So I nabbed that right away. Not sure how I will manage to get the other two now though....
Also, happy that I found that alternate cover for Unstoppable Wasp
>I got lucky and won The Dark Knight III
user, I don't know how to tell you this... you lost.
kek, I can always sell it if I don't like it (I probably won't like it but hey, free is free and I can get some money out of it)
what's the one above promethea?
Southern Nightgown, it's part of Rothic Comics, and I just grabbed it for some pretty art. The whole publishing line is JP Roth and Dawn McTeige and sometimes eBas writing magic/erotica tales. Unfortunately, she stopped putting the stories out in trades so you can literally only get them in floppies. It's kinda crap
Is it worth the full price of a magazine?
if you like reading articles about freedom of speech, sure. If you want to buy it just for the comic. no
I'll try to do that later
Not him, but Walmart has it in stock online too.
>I'll try to do that later
thx fren
I just got this today in a sketchy newstand next to a subway entrance.
Also I agree that I am a Characterfag, nevertheless Im not going to buy Vote Loki, or every single apparance of him in Aaron's Thor. I just dont like those. That's where I draw the line
The trick is to characterfag minor characters so you don't have to buy a lot of stuff, but not characters who are so minor that absolutely nothing is collected and you start thinking about getting all of it custom bound.
Now there's an idea I'll become a SPOT characterfag
But I don't like D-list characters like Spider-Gwen, Booster Gold, Green Goblin or Zatanna
>But I don't like Booster Gold
Pathetic.
>Booster Gold
but but...
everybody loves green lantern. he's the best superhero ever
Well look what finally showed up in the mail.
Marvel is never going go reprint x-statix in two fat trades ;~;
Maybe they will if everyone buys the new one shot in july
I'm a Pymfag, but I'm really only interested in the good stuff, which is pretty spaced out for him.
>not liking Zatanna
what are you a fag or something?
She has no good stories, no good writers, and no good artists.
She literally has one tpb
>anything by Dini
>Seven Soldiers
But to be honest i think she's had a better recent showing in cartoons than in comics. Fuck JLD
>trips of lies
you're using the word literally wrong again
What movies? There's no Spectre movie.
>he doesn't have a favorite comic that's never been reprinted/collected
Cape movies, user.
You lost me.
whoa. 2012-2013 /shelf/ flashbacks
It's sad that one of the only writers who cares to use her is that hack Tynion. Apparently Bendis really likes Zatanna so she should show up elsewhere too.
Oh no, Bendis will have her raped.
He's already used her in Young Justice to recover help them recover some old pre flashpoint memories
Steph thinks she's hot
I just want her to have her own book man.
Well, here's what we know about the dini trade
March 2017 LCS sales
>1,894
It did not place on the Top 750 sales to bookstores, meaning it sold less than 4007 copies to bookstores.
Maybe if that Super Hero Girls show is a success, they might toss her another miniseries. I don't think an ongoing will happen again.
Sucks that they don't feel like zatanna can support a book but dragged out the husk that was New Age of Heroes for so long
Is Steph bi?
Zatanna's very origin in comics was hopping around from one book to another while looking for her dad.
No justva regular fag
I think it's supposed to be a running joke. Back when Tynion wrote an arc of Detective Comics with Zatanna in it, this happened.
Batwoman and two Batgirls seem to like her
alright lads heres a big question for you
what are first issues of action comics immediately after crisis?
>Following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, writer/artist John Byrne relaunched the Superman franchise in The Man of Steel limited series in 1986.[49] Action Comics became a team-up title with issue #584 (January 1987) featuring Superman and the New Teen Titans.[50] Other costars during this period included the Phantom Stranger,[51] the New Gods,[52] the Demon,[53] Hawkman,[54] the Green Lantern Corps,[55] the Metal Men,[56] Superboy,[57] Big Barda,[58] Mister Miracle,[59] Booster Gold,[60] the Martian Manhunter,[61] the Spectre,[62] Lois Lane and Lana Lang,[63] Checkmate,[64] Wonder Woman,[65] and Man-Bat.[66] The first Action Comics Annual was published in 1987 and featured Superman teaming with Batman in a story written by Byrne and drawn by Arthur Adams.[67] A DC Comics Bonus Book was included in issue #599 (April 1988).[68]
>From May 24, 1988 – March 14, 1989,[69] the publication frequency was changed to weekly, the title changed to Action Comics Weekly, and the series became an anthology.[70] Prior to its launch, DC cancelled its ongoing Green Lantern Corps title, and made Green Lantern and his adventures exclusive to Action Comics Weekly.
I really suggest looking into the Post Crisis Superman Chronology packs if you plan on reading that. Fans sorted everything into thematic cbrs. Supes is poorly collected, and the physical Byrne trades are oop
I guess whatever Byrne's first AC issue was
yeah i plan on reading coie and then the action comicspreferably in trades up to whenever i get tired of reading AC or to death of superman/reign of the supermen
Byrne's run is hella OOP and has for a very, veyr long time. You're better off buying a floppy set.
Luckily the material following Byrne is in a nice big omnibus called Exiled and Other Stories, and DC omnis don't seem to ever go OOP
what does OOP mean?
Out
Of
Print
Out of print
thanks boys
>Bendis on Amethyst and Zatanna
Fuck you
Is this bait?
That would be ITB, user.
Everybody is new some day.
>preferably in trades
If you can handle reading digital, seriously consider the fan made trades. Superman wasn't contained to the "Superman" and "Action Comics" books. He also had at various times
>Adventures of Superman
>Adventure Comics
>Superman - The Man of Steel
All those books were used to tell a main story, with each different writer focusing on different aspects of the character (like supporting cast). This is sometimes known as the "triangle era," and fan groups have collected scans and digital rips into trades. The "Prologue" one for instance contains the "World of Krypton" and "The Kents" miniseries. If you want to go legally, I think a lot of this is on DC's comic streaming app, but you'll have to look up read orders.
The direct Byrne stuff didn't seem to sell too well, but DC eventually wrapped his run up with trades released over a decade. Like the other user says, the immediate post Byrne stuff was collected in a thick omnibus. That omni was actually taken apart and scanned by a very dedicated ripping crew. I've seen the scans, and they look fantastic.
this is a strange /shelf/ thread. feels like there's 1-2 people that are completely new to comics. we never get those. new blood is always good I suppose
Which ones are new?
I suspect the guy asking what OOP means and the guy asking how to "develop a collection" way up in the thread
im the oop guy, ive just never read that abbreviation.
ive been reading dc from new 52-present and im not that knowledgeable about dc from crisis-new 52, but i have read most of grant morrisons jla and some other stuff from the late 80s and 90s published by dc
well then you must be new to /shelf/, so take card and welcome
Also the user asking why there would be two comics for the same character.
oh right forgot him too
>ive been reading dc from new 52-present
Yeah that makes you new. It's only been...
...
...
...oh god, it's been eight whole years.
/shelf/ has been getting a lot of newfags lately. Maybe we should encourage them rather than being shitty. We all start somewhere
you think it might be people who came for Endgame? traffic swelled
>people want to read "Endgame" the comic
>end up buying the Moore/Davis Captain Britain book called Endgame
>get to read Mad Jim Jaspers fight The Fury
Worse things could happen.
normalfags don't read comics
The style of posts make me think no. These are DC people.
normalfags don't really use Yea Forums either
>people want to read "Infinity War" the comic
>end up reading a convoluted shitty comic
I love all of this
yeah, but Yea Forums also doesn't read comics
/shelf/ does, and if people are here it's cuz they want to read
>/shelf/ has been getting a lot of newfags lately
I don't see any new shelves
since when does /shelf/ read comics?
well duh if they're new they don't have a /shelf/ full of stuff
not true, I remember seeing one /shelf/ that had only Watchmen on it.
DC fans and brainlets, they always go hand in hand.
When on the john?
That's a top-tier shelf though, it's got no crap on it. Hard to keep up that level of quality for long.
>take a book into the bathroom
>can never sell it again
this. may as well quit when you're ahead
Are you using the books to wipe yourself?
It's a Seinfeld joke.
Why would I spend more money when I already own the only three comics worth reading?
oops
is this one of them cursed images?
>no All-Star Superman
Close but no cigar.
Okay, since you guys made fun of me, I went to the bookstore and made some trade-ins. Thanks for the suggestion!
Is this a better collection?
I don't even know anymore.
you tried
Cool thanks! :) Glad you like my books
dc fans are only brainlets because theyre continuity fags and dont understand that at this point dc has no continuity
Rebirthfag has left at least. But it's more the questions about starting. I kinda like that. I remember starting and was very shitty at my start. I didn't know what I wanted I still am not sure what I want entirely and get many randoms. My early /shelf/ stuff was pretty crappy, I am not ashamed of it though, it eventually led to better stuff
I unironically like this /shelf/ cause it is something different
i read thanos quest and gauntlet, which are fine stories and are clear and concise and by god infinity war is a big slow complicated mess and jim starlins reliance on technobabble pisses me off to where its borderline unreadable
Nothing stands out here as not worth having, but you need to focus more. You've got a lot of series with just a couple books rather than finishing the runs.
I would tolerate it more if he took the toys out of their packaging.
Also, iirc, he reorganized it later in that thread and got it looking a lot better.
No, they're brainlets because they even consider reading shit published by DC.
Look at this little retard Brainlet can't even use google
hey, like I said, that is where I started and so people should be a bit easy on newfags. There are still reasons to hate my current shelf but this is my upgrade
I think the owner of that shelf said she was a girl
>going from Rebirth shit to Sandman, Kabuki and Grell's Green Arrow
How did this happen?
ya, it's a girl. I also would like more girl /shelf/'s I like variety
> My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness
don't act like you can just tuck that away and we won't notice
>go to barnes and noble
>check out their """"""""""graphic novel""""""""" section
>have random volumes of trades, like walt simonson thor volumes 1,3,5
>their justice league is literally scott snyders volume 1 of jl, injustice vol 2, grant morrison jla volume 3
>their batman section is just dark knight returns anniversary collection, dkr ultimate edition or whatever, dkr collectors edition, killing joke, some tom king batman and hush
>their manga section is like dragonball z volumes 1,3,4,6
>deadpool out the ass
>xmen: dark phoenix and days of future past
>books are in alphabetical order by character regardless of publisher, spiderman and superman shouldnt be next to each other on the shelf
its astounding how little they care about having all the series there. i realize that they arent the lcs, but jesus christ, they need to get their shit together.
>being a gatekeeping console warrior
get out
If you see in my old shelf I had Kabuki, it's one of my first fav comics. Also GA was on that shelf. Sandman I was missing though.
kek, it's a really good book user, read it
Is this what autism looks like?
What, do you expect them to stock full runs of literally hundreds of different titles?
The stuff you listed is some of the most popular capeshit there is for normies - aka the kind of people who would go to Barnes & Noble instead of a LCS.
It's like going to a target and being angry that they don't have individual MTG cards for sale behind the counter.
ever think that sometimes people buy stuff and leave holes?
this. you only stock the most popular/entry level stuff. you go to their website for specific stuff
im a little autistic sure. i dont think its too much to ask they have at least like, the first 4-5 volumes of a popular series/character.
>be hypothetical normie
>see [superhero] movie
>go to barnes and noble
>see [superhero] volume 2
>dont buy it because need to read volume 1 to understand volume 2
>dont start reading comics at all
>go on Yea Forums and gripe about how manga is better because it starts at volume 1
theres a b and n near where i work and i stop a couple times a weekbecause they have a starbucks and check out the comics section and i doubt people are buying the stuff thats missing, unless they always have a steady flow of people buying gant morrison jla
>strawman
The reason volume 1 wasn’t there is because someone bought it.
They certainly had it at some point, they just don’t necessarily restock it.
idk how close you pay attention to your LCS, but when In buy a volume it takes about a month for them to restock it. So yes, I see empties plenty of times
lcs =/= huge corporation like barnes and noble who get a restock delivery either once a week or once every two weeks
ok, good point, but I still don't think they prioritise this stuff, they probably just address trades once a month to figure it out
How do you think these things work?
If anything, it’s EASIER for the LCS to restock, because they basically just order shit from one company - Diamond.
Barnes and Nobel are dealing with a MUCH higher volume across many different publishers. If they only sell 15 graphic novels one week, it doesn’t make sense to immediately place another order for those exact same books.
t. never worked retail
Big box stores will be out of stock of shit all the time, even if it’s super popular sometimes.
you dont order product if you scan a barcode, it goes through an inventory system in the computer
>scan product with sku number 12345
>sku number 12345 was scanned and purchased x times
>this goes into an automated inventory system
>distributor puts x number of product of sku number 12345 on the truck to be delivered
>store gets x number of product to restock
>if the store never had product with sku number 12346 they would never sell it, and would never restock it, unless a customer or manager special ordered it
t. work retail
not if they never had the damn thing in stock to begin with which is what i suspect my b and n does
my B&N has a better graphic novels/indie comics section than my lcs, all big publishers and even pretty niche stuff, and stocks an entire isle both side with manga filled with fat weeb girls sitting cross legged
Ugh. I am so far behind putting up new shelves. In order to make room for more shelves and display cases, I need to get rid of an old broken couch. In order to get it out, I need to rip it open with a knife and break it apart, probrably with an ax. Not sure if this will be a pain or a bit of fun.
I work at Waterstones (UK Barnes and nobles basically).
When the zenith hardcovers came out we only got one of each volume (which I bought with my discount) and never ordered them in again because we still have trades we don't sell taking space and we hope some eejit comes in and buys them instead.
Basically we'll get one copy and then that's pretty much it. Rarely do we buy several copies of the same trade. We do offer to order it from the warehouse though if you really want it.
>>go on Yea Forums and gripe about how manga is better because it starts at volume 1
If you’re too stupid to get your hands on V1 at less than MSRP, stick to your animes.
But if that purchase number is super low, it’s not going to order them right away.
Good morning, /shelf/
I've posted pics of my shelf before, but wanted to try a new challenge.
My thought: Is it possible to put 10 books on a shelf and not catch flack for any of them? Is there such thing as a diverse, completely kino shelf?
Hard mode: No doubling up on creators (I did this)
Nightmare mode: Has to be at least half superheroes (I did not do this).
Did I manage to do it?
I have a feeling that I did not.
>Is it possible to put 10 books on a shelf and not catch flack for any of them? Is there such thing as a diverse, completely kino shelf?
on /shelf/ yes
on Yea Forums no
Yea Forums will hate on anything, including Sandman. The only things Yea Forums will not shit on is things they never read...which is why your pic would probably pass.
Well if I had to only list 10, I guess it could be.
1. Witch Doctor Vol1
2. All Star Superman
3. Watchmen
4. Godzilla Half Century War
5. JLA League of One (hardback)
6. Andre The Giant: Life and Legend
7. Goon Library Edition vol1 (signed)
8. Batman Long Halloween
9. Silver Surfer Rebirth Of Thanos (or maybe my copy of Infinity Guantlet)
10. Witch Doctor Vol2
Alternatively I could fill 6 slots with four copies of Witch Doctor vol1and two copies of Witch Doctor vol2.
>The only things Yea Forums will not shit on is things they never read
Yeah, there's definitely some lesser-known stuff on there. But I feel like outside of Killing and Dying, my /shelf/ bros are probably at least familiar with most of those choices.
>Andre The Giant: Life and Legend
That's been on the way back of my mind for a while now. It's been a while since I've read a biography comic. Is it really that good?
Artstyle is simple but it is pretty detail in the biography and in describing the art of professional wrestling.
I like it more than the other Andre comic, Closer To Heaven, which has more stylized art but it less detail on his history and really just wants to sell the drama.
Oh wait no writer repeats.
Replace Witch Doctor vol2 with My Favorite Thing Is Monsters.
That's why I order from IST almost always. I don't think I've ever gotten a damaged book from them.
I honestly have no complaints, as far as I know you did it.
How do I get into American Splendor by the way?
I was wondering if anyone else was having a hard time looking for this. I saw someone with it in hand for a Perez signing a while back and was surprised since I haven't seen one in a long time.
List of 10? Okay.
1. Watchmen
2. All-Star Superman
3. Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck
4. The Puma Blues
5. Uzumaki
6. Ode to Kirihito
7. The Dark Knight Returns
8. American Flagg (the upcoming release that has everything in one book)
9. Maus
10. Metabarons Ultimate Collection
It's not half superheroes but it's only one book per author!
>How do I get into American Splendor by the way?
Just buy one. There's no plot or anything, though occasionally some of the stories are connected. The volume in my pic is the only one I've read so far, and it was a fine place to start.
At work, no photos, did I get Nightmare mode?
1. Absolute Top 10
2. The Borgias
3. Hitman vol. 7 Closing Time
4. Starlight
5. Batman Adventures vol. 1
6. Batman Incorporated
7. Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia
8. Megahex
9. Moon Knight by Ellis
10. Godzilla Treasury Edition
To the left of hell on earth.
I dislike Chester brown. Actually all three of those Toronto three guys bore the fuck out of me.
Otherwise it’s solid.
To the right, I mean. I have the l/r confusion.
>one quick Google of Godzilla Treasury Edition later
I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS A THING. I MUST HAVE IT.
Lesson learned.. just bought the fourth volume.
Got this plus BPRD Hell on Earth
I Never Liked You was unbearable and Paying for it was tolerable but the guy sure is self-serving. Sold my copies of both books as I found them too narcissistic.
That’s what happens when “no superheroes” is your metric for quality.
Yeah, I feel that. I included Paying for It because I think it's a VERY well-made comic. And I don't even necessarily disagree with many of the points that Brown makes in it. However, he's insufferable and preachy as a narrator.
It didn't really make me want to rush out and read more of his work, but I really appreciated the craft of it.
As far as capeshit goes, it's pretty hard to argue with that setup - well done. Granted, most of the Marvel there isn't REALLY capeshit, but it's close enough that I'll give you the nightmare mode seal of approval.
Give me the rundown on Black Hammer, should I get into it?
Yes you should. I don't know how it evolves later on but the first two volumes are great. It's good, not like the shit that these awards inflate like Mister Miracle or Saga.
>not like the shit that these awards inflate like Mister Miracle or Saga
The fact that you would say this is the strongest recommendation of all. I will follow your advice.
Does Yea Forums hate Saga now?
I'll agree that it's not as "best of all time" as the hype suggests, or even the best of BKV's works, but it's still a really solid comic with amazing art.
That said, I'm only on like volume 5 so maybe it goes to shit?
>really solid comic with amazing art
I read the first trade and it was so bad I felt offended at wasting my time with it. I have no idea what could impel anyone to call the art "amazing". There's nothing "amazing" about it.
I have a great deal of bad things to say about Saga but I won't waste my time or yours with it. We all deserve better than talking about Saga.
I found the art unbearably bland. I couldn’t make it through the first issue.
How do I focus in on a character or genre?
>inb4 just buy books
Opinions are opinions and all that, but I don't see how someone wouldn't like Staples's art.
But hey - read what you like.
...
But that's literally the only answer.
What genre do you like?
What characters do you like?
What author or artist do you like?
Answer those questions, then buy those books.
Staples on Saga it's bad. I like her on Archie for example.
>What genre do you like?
Okay, how do I make a superior genre shelf?
You're not making any sense. What other answer can there be?
With digital files, one could do ohc.
I'm not so sure. They'll have to put out something when the Robbie Reyes series comes out on Hulu.
I don’t see how someone would like it.
So?
What are you even asking?
Read until you figure out what you like. Put the books you like on a shelf.
I'm genuinely perplexed as to how else I'm supposed to answer that.
Stop trying to impress nerds on a Taiwanese flower pressing board.
>he doesn't spend hundreds of dollars on books and statues he doesn't want just to impress /shelf/
Pleb
>he doesn't go bankrupt trying to impress strange people on 4channel.org
>he doesn't suck hobo dick to get a few bucks to drive to his LCS to suck some more dick in order to buy some comics he's not interested in just to impress some other neckbeards who collect picture books
Ishyggydiggy
Shelf is the sole reason I started reading comics
Well look who's too good to buy $100+ figurines to take pictures for online.
>tfw a friend only collects one line of figures (DCTV), doesn't know anyone who is interested in figures or comics except for me and never read a comic in his life
Why does he buy the figures?
He loves Arrow and Flash. Don't know how he feels about Supergirl and Legends but I asked him whether he wanted a figure once and he has been eager to collect them all ever since. He is really obsessed with having the entire line to the point that he's willing to even get the expensive as fuck figures
I can't imagine the TV ones can be that expensive
If it's detail enough they'll find an excuse to make them cost $60+ at even 8inches tall.
Collecting figures must be Hell
Could be worse. At least figurines are usually already unboxed, so you can actually enjoy looking at them.
I've heard of people collecting fucking Amiibos and not unboxing them, which caused Nintendo to have to make the Amiibos useable without them being unboxed.
They were not. Initially, all of them were sold for like 30 or 45 (2-packs) bucks but now.... scalpers everywhere. Gotta say that I was lucky enough to buy three of the rarest figure for cheaps and now I can literally sell it for like 4 times the price a piece. It's insane
Have to say that the TV figures have beautiful sculpts which is retarded considering how shitty the Essentials DC figures look at the same price range. You even get accessories with the TV figures while you get literally nothing with the Essentials figures, fuck
Can't lie , I I really want the Constantine DCTV figure, I have the other three made but I hate how they look.
Is Mattel responsible for the Essentials? I'm not a /toy/ guy, but I did see the news that DC dumped them (or is in the process of dumping them)
found it at an hpb a few months back for cover price/maybe less
How did you get rid of all the rebirth books?
Do LCS buy books from collecters?
>Do LCS buy books from collecters?
Interested in this too. Single volume trades almost aren't even worth selling online because the return is so little. I'd love to dump them off at my LCS for 3-5 bucks each
Your LCS will likely buy them from you, but not for much unless they're particularly valuable.
Definitely less of a hassle than selling them online though.
>Your LCS will likely buy them from you
Thank God, I bought some trades and floppies that I definitely regret and hate now
What's on the list?
Watchmen
Superman: Red Son
Superman: Secret Identity
All Star Superman
New Frontier
Sandman
Good job, anons. All that shit is awful
did I do it right? :^)
>not catch flack
>posts manga
the same place I find a lot of my great deals is willing to buy most comics, and will buy anything from big 2 if it's in good condition. Only get 25% of cover price from him but it's an easy way to off load stuff I no longer want. and he just marks them up to 50% off so it ends up being a good deal for whoever buys them too
Yeah I have a good B&N with a huge varied comic section and another location that's comic section is two short shelves with only Big 2 and a handful of Image/DH books
That's almost good bait, user. If you had just left Alias without the modern series, I might have believed you.
>Berserk gets here
muh dick
I don't get why despite Berserk having such a large fanbase, and why nobody didn't just order past volumes.
>and why nobody didn't just order past volumes.
the virgin tankoban vs. the chad hardcover, that's why
that and aren't most of the first 20 volumes more or less oop?
no, they're all available. popular manga doesn't go OOP
Odd, I recall a time when the first volume was going for like $100 sealed.
must have been a dream. stop eating fish before bed
Why do you people buy comics?
to read
Why not read an actual piece of literature instead of something so low brow?
because I enjoy and explore all forms of art, realizing they all excel in a particular area, and don't actually compete against one another because they offer unique and worthwhile experiences
because I'm not a pseud
>low brow
I'll have you know I only read the most sophisticated of paper mache manka constructs
Anybody buying this?
source?
eh, I already got the first 4 volumes of trades. i'd like to pretend the 5th and 6th volumes just didn't exist.
it's in the file name, Snake and Bacon. It's a really weird comic strip
Sexy hardcover volumes, that's why. Look better on a shelf and better put together too.
isn't that still azz?
ya
very cool
I'am, might get new the spiderman omnibus which comes out around the same time as it too.
how many dredd books are left in that collection?
>too much Dredd to hold
You need a bigger shelf, user. That looks slick, though.
I don't necessarily agree with all your taste, but there's no doubt that it's a well curated collection.
Side note: Does anyone else feel like Absolutes don't look that great when a lot are right next to each other? It's so busy.
Looks like it finished up last June.
Have they announced what they're going to do next, now that two Marvel lines and Dredd are all done?
None, they stopped at 90.
The complete Brian Bolland book has 3 more volumes with different artists. Vol 2 is Carlos Ezquerra, 3 is Cam Kennedy and 4 is Brendan McCarthy.
>Does anyone else feel like Absolutes don't look that great when a lot are right next to each other? It's so busy.
no
Nevermind, I see now that they're doing Transformers G1 and 2000AD.
What's the best site to check comic values?
I bet if you get a bigger top shelf it would look even more slick.
(You)
what are some good T&A focused comics that isn't just smut with crappy writing?
Vampirella
Mark Russel Red Sonja
Sunstone, Witchblade Marz run, Manara when he with with Hugo Pratt, Vampirella, Madame Mirage, Hunter-Killer. I like sexy comics but i'm not going to endlessly complain about SJWs destroying comics, there are still tons of T&A comics out there
Holy shit, my Berserk Deluxe finally came. I completely forgot about it.
I have the absolutes. The art deserves the larger format.
What's that fancy looking book between the Green Lantern omni and the statues?
Crepax
>Crepax
>not just smut with crappy writing
He can't write a coherent story to save his life. Amazing art though.
I understand that opinion but I have to disagree. He definately has some crappy stories and most of them are ones that are dragged out too long. His shorter stories seem to be better IMO. Though his Dracula is the exception. Also, if you are looking for a really good erotica story, I got this for you, that surprised me by how good it was. Ancient Chinese erotica made into comics

The things I read for muh dick...
Are Dark Horse generally very good with reissues? I really want to get Katsuya Terada's Monkey King manga that they brought over in the mid-'00s, but both volumes are long OoP and go for silly money on eBay. Would they realistically ever get a reprint or am I outta luck?
I'd also add Drunna, the writing can be weak at a few points when it spends a couple pages just to get her naked. But over all it has some points that are very solid writing, when he gets into talking about time travel at the edge of the universe it's actually fairly solid physics too (the theory I mean)
Also, one of these days I will storytime all of Requiem Vampire Hunter, and that is great writing with a lot of cool T&A
Depends on if they still have the license or not.
Dark Horse is mainly only good with their main licenses like Hellboy and Kabuki
is Dark Horse in any trouble of going bankrupt?
yes. Berger books was their attempt so salvage the company but it's been a failure. Even The Seeds that was a hit can't get issue 3 out. All they have is P Craig Russell and he doesn't sell as well as he should

I hope this gets to 25k
Do they do decently from their videogame artbooks? They've got several pretty big licenses (Zelda, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Sony first-party stuff like Dad of War) and they usually seem to be pretty high on the charts at Amazon.
Collecting Eerie and Creepy HC's are gonna be hard if they're bankrupt and not selling them anymore
Gold Digger by Fred Perry?
Good luck tracking down any of the past volumes, Antarctic Press sin't exactly equipped to be doing multiple runs of stuff.
But the first 200-ish issues are up for free on their website.
fucking dark horse. all I need is them to finish Black Hammer then they can fuck off forever. I guess even if it doesn't finish at DH Lemire can take it to image.
Not him, but I think that's Absolute Preacher.
Judge Dredd Mega collection.
I have those, and I still buy the complete case files.
I like the fact it included a lot of Dredd related stuff like Devlin Waugh and the Anderson stories.
Shame like all 2000ad books the gutter loss on double pages makes some pages impossible to read.
Already own azzrun in trades. But if has great extras maybe.
Im going for pic related now, there are 3 more after it. I'am double dipping with them but i'd like to have Brian Bolland and Carlos Ezquerra art in an oversized format.
I really liked the Anderson stories, i even managed to get Dave Taylor to sign 2 of the Dredd Books he is credited in.
How are the Anderson case files? Are they worth collecting?
The Seeds is fucking awesome. I don't understand why it stopped after only 2 issues. Did Nocenti or Aja become ill or something?
The Anderson case files aren't worth it if you have the jdmc because ironically the jdmc has more including newer stories not in the case files.
The case files only have mayb 3 or 4 progs not in the Anderson books. But the difference mainly lies in that the case files are chronological where as jdmc has them out of sequence even if read in volume order as opposed to issue because the volume collects similar themed stories over the chronological orders.
Thankfully the 2000ad collection kind of sorted this. Although the second era strontium dog still fucks up and puts bad moon in with kreeler when trailer of his on kind should follow kreelers conspiracy.
Also god choice on the Holland collection. I was tempted but I'm already got so many of the same stories in various formats and books.
Hell I still have my 2000ads circa 96-2008 (when I stopped buying them and began to get them... Well not from wh Smith.)
Not really Yea Forums, but I know a few people in these threads collect video game artbooks. Looks like the Darkstalkers Official Complete Works is getting a reprint alongside localizations of Dragon's Crown Artworks and Catherine Venus Collection.
Is that first one that Stravaganza or whatever fantasy manga?
I remember that one being really good.
My friend has it on his shelf. It does look fantastic, as do all the other figures imo. I have the Flash & Arrow 2 pack at home and those figures look truly incredible. It's laughable that DC doesn't try that hard with its other lines
Not quite sure but McFarlane is supposed to get the rights for the DC figures. What that does to the Essentials line, I really don't know. If they canned it, it would truly be for the better
a little late aren't we?
It is never late, and besides we are too. Now we ride the waves of the board till oblivion.
good night /shelf/
Is this even your own cat? Why do you have so many pictures of it and why, oh, WHY do you keep posting them?
he's the guardian of shelf
