Thoughts on the Supermullet?

You know, the funny thing is, since it was a 90's development you'd expect it to just be a trendy mullet and that's it, but the idea was to give him regular long hair, not a mullet. The problem is that they also wanted to keep the classic S curl so they had to draw it like a mullet.

Fucking love it. First comic I ever bought had that shit and it was immediately one of my favourite looks of his. Comic was the one where he fought robots in Smallville and had a fight with Conduit, killing him in the process

i like superman with long hair

Attached: 1557440628081.jpg (400x617, 62K)

absolutely based

It's just long hair to me but I prefer Superman with long hair, makes him a bit Jesus like in appearance.

How did Clark Kent look with a mullet?

Wy was the mullet the only trending style superman ever used since his creation one hundred years ago? Why can't we see superman with a undercut and full beard?

Attached: high-pompadour-undercut-with-beard-e1528971712478.jpg (496x498, 39K)

>All these glorious god damn mullets. Business in the front, party in the back. The iconic haircut of the decade. You want to look like a bad motherfucker that plays real hard, guzzles Jolt Cola and watches nothing but MTV? You gotta roll 10/90, my dude! That's 10% up front, 90% round back! Look at this JO Cool 'sumbitch! That's a guy who knows all the tips and tricks! Yeeeeaaah! Motherfuck!

Clark had a ponytail

The supermullet wasn't actually supposed to be a mullet, it was supposed to be long hair with a small forelock. Most comic artists are terrible at drawing hair.

Superman looks so fucking rad with long hair, so sik... definitely my favorite look.

Attached: Action-Comics-711-1.jpg (1000x1541, 769K)

How can one post be so glorious?

Kingdom Come Superman had a pony tail for a bit.

I didn't read superman during those days so it feels really off to me. That being said I dont dislike it by any means

Because people bitching about the long hair put DC off from being trendy and trying to keep up with fashion with their legacy characters.

In-universe explanation is that Clark also has too much respect to look like a fucking tool.

Superman looks more anti-establishment with long hair tho.

Superman looks more anti-establishment with long hair tho, wish there was some way of keeping both hair styles in seperate comics.

Super cool.

This x1000. It's the white afro, and Superman looked awesome wearing that.

i dont like it. but i like it more than blue superman.

t. on volume 4 of grant morrison/mark waid JLA

Because Clark is not a fucking douche.

Glorious but I don't think it fits Clark Kent.

Maybe they should add "instant hair growing" to his powerset. It would add to the whole alter ego thing.

>Maybe they should add "instant hair growing" to his powerset. It would add to the whole alter ego thing.
A la Lobo, I like it.

only version of him I like. i eagerly await the day it returns, hopefully with a beard. That Justice League episode where he goes to the far future was excellent.
It helps that it's not the 'joe dirt' type of mullet, but just gorgeous flowing hair like you'd see on any regular guy in an early 90s sitcom, anime, barbarian fantasy film, or whatever.

>undercut
Superboy had that. Only mar on that design. Still better than his "makes me look mirocephalic and clashes strongly with my thick neck" close-cropped bullshit they put him in now.

I could see him combing it all down really flat and tucking it into the back of his collar as Clark. Would anyone really notice if a guy did that instead of cutting it there?

I mean a guy with a neck that thick and traps that high, who tries to slouch and wears a baggy suit so he looks more like a thick dumpy piece of crap. his collar probably goes up over the nape of his neck.

I tried looking for a slicked back mullet in google images, but honestly couldn't find much more extreme than this

Attached: jared-jared-leto-18326794-985-1222.jpg (985x1222, 225K)

yeah with a hiked-up collar you really wouldn't notice that was anything out of the ordinary from the neutered pre-60s or post-late-90s at all.

This is a wonderful thread, Yea Forums. Glad to see things might have changed. I kept MY awesome hair, I hope you all did too.

I didn't have a choice to keep it if you know what I mean

Fuck yes, the overmonitor/source has been kind.

Right on, my Sikh brother. Any religion that makes you carry a knife is cool in my book.

yeah i miss it

damn that is one magic skirt.
This is my preferred superman era for a number of reasons, and one of them is how badass Steel is. I played the hell out of the Death and Return of Superman SNES game. Did they ever bring The Eradicator back? because he fucking rocks.

You know what's weird? The main thing that makes that Chaz guy not look like Superman to me is his nose.

He looks a little weird with the beard but it'd fit him more with long hair.

yeah something about the face. bit too.. broad i guess? looks off

He's got a broad face but it falls within the 'sometimes Cal is drawn that way' range. It's the nose that adds just a different ethnicity to my eye. I mean it's basically my nose, and I've never felt I look like Superman. Superman's got a nose more like my dad's, more bridge to it. more narrow.
I feel like a superbeard needs to be wavy, as if made entirely out of spitcurls, with a spitcurl on each mouthcorner (like my moustache has). nice Jewperman look.

God, he looks like Tommy Wiseau.

yeah the downward nose tip is very ill-advised, as are the pinched cheeks and lip-biting
>I did not kill Lex Luthor, I did NAHT. Oh hi Clark

Superman believes in Christ tho.

Attached: Superman_01-1.jpg (700x284, 52K)

uh yeah. making him a subset of jew.

I think he makes a better Joker

Attached: darkknight-tommywiseau-joker-700x330.jpg (700x330, 23K)

i thought it was rao

No, because Jews do not believe in Christ by definition.

Guess not.

Joker looks better with long hair just like Superman.

Attached: Superman_Seasons1.jpg (565x227, 102K)

Oh dear. You're far from the only one to think that, but you're even further from correct.
It's a simple venn diagram. Christian fits inside of jew. Mormon fits inside of christian, etc. If you wanted to go larger, jew fits inside of 'abrahamic' but there's no real reason to do that, since the only other one is muslim and that is just flat-out rewrite 'fix fiction'

I've always wanted to have a Joker that pushes the whole 'court jester / playing cards' theme further and has an oldtimey regal look to him, full beard and fur cape and all, looking like those (I'm told exaggerated) depictions of Henry VIII where he's just a fucking creepy monster of a man.

technically Superman has only had a beard post-crisis

Jews do not believe in Christ by definition, try reading the shittier parts of the Mishna Sanhedrin, they're the same Jews/Pharisees that killed Christ to begin with.

Try not reading that. Or anything else non-canonical. You'll find faith a lot simpler to comprehend.

Why does he look like gerard butler as leonidas?

Sounds like Emperor Joker.

Attached: latest-1.png (613x925, 1.17M)

The Mishna Sanhedrin is a series of Jewish books that Jews read around the world everyday for 7 years, even the Bible mentions the Sanhedrin/Jews because they killed Christ.

Huh, neat. My design's a bit more "puffy sleeves and pantaloons" and more suited for action scenes, but..

Yeah but it didn't mention any other books you're supposed to read. Because it IS that book, and you're reading it. No other books are inherently valid or should ever be taken as gospel, as it were. Old and new testaments alike warn against that sort of thing. Their only use is as a record of people's opinions

Even the Bible mentions the Sanhedrin/Jews, I believe it also says in the Bible that only after a person has read tons of books on the subject will one only begin to start understanding how it all fits together.

Not trying to derail the thread here, I only brought up that Superman believes in Christ due to growing up in Kansas, Superman believes in Christ therefore he is not Jewish.

yes and I'm pointing out that christianity is to judaism as the sega CD is to the genesis.
It's a great idea to become a scholar on a subject, but when you're dealing with religion, it's important to understand how canon works.

Read the Bible, the Jews killed Christ.

They condemned him and his teachings as heretical, yes.

Third Sunday of Easter
Lectionary: 48
Reading 1 ACTS 5:27-32, 40B-41

When the captain and the court officers had brought the apostles in
and made them stand before the Sanhedrin,
the high priest questioned them,
"We gave you strict orders, did we not,
to stop teaching in that name?
Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching
and want to bring this man's blood upon us."
But Peter and the apostles said in reply,
"We must obey God rather than men.
The God of our ancestors raised Jesus,
though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.
God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior
to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.
We are witnesses of these things,
as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."

The Sanhedrin ordered the apostles
to stop speaking in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them.
So they left the presence of the Sanhedrin,
rejoicing that they had been found worthy
to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.

your point? his followers were also almost all jews. also he was one. also 99% of the people in the entire collection of scripture. the fact that the (very small number of) people who opposed him were jewish is kind of a no-shit situation.

more to the point, their weapon of choice was roman bureaucracy. The rule is, if a prophet comes by claiming some shit, you check if it matches with the word of god, and if so, you listen to him. and if not, you stone him to death. no nailing to wood involved. The romans had already attempted to corrupt the jews, and would have much more success in the final completed form of the faith when they co-opted it entirely.

Not the user you replied but technically you're correct since being Jewish is more than followers of a religion, they're more of an ethnicity.

Well yes, there is that. Just like how 'hindu' used to mean 'people from India' in addition to the religion. But that's kind of irrelevant, especially when the world becomes global, and proselytization happens. Which happens in the ancient days anyway, jews folded people into their flock here and there. they just had to follow the rules.
it's just weird this guy doesn't understand how sects work. Things split, they schism, they upgrade, and sometimes they downgrade. Sometimes people add new things, but as long as they keep the old, they are a sect of that thing. There's about a billion reasons that the people following the big J were not in 'a new, separate religion' and still aren't. If anyone likes to think they are, that's kinda sad and incorrect. But you can define things any way you want.

It says it right there in the passage, also people who believe in Christ are Christians by definition. Sure the Romans did their dirty work for the Jews/Pharisees at the time but Jews were the ones who said "kill him" when Pilate did not even want to kill Jesus because he knew Jesus had done nothing wrong, that's why he let the Jews pick who would die between Barnabas and Christ and the Jews picked Christ. Stoning people to death on trees was also common enough for the Jews they did it all the time.

But calling the first Christians, Jews is a blatant misnomer in a religious sense just as calling Muslims (and many other religions) Zoroastrians.

the muslims aren't just adding another 30% to the zoroastrian book, completing what it was setting up. If anything. If there even is one of those.

It's a basic misnomer in the religious sense to try to de-jew the culmination of 4000 years of the god of israel interacting with his people and inviting you to be one of his children.
I expect comic fans to understand canon better.

Jews betray their covenant with God all the time both in the Old Testament and New Testament that's why Christ was sent so that everyone gets a chance at eternal life through Christ and Holy water not merely by blood like the Jews.

Christ is more "canon" since even the consensus calendar is centered around the birth of Jesus.

Its tenets and beliefs are almost inherently different from each other that calling it 30% is an understatement.
Zoroastrian practices and rituals still live through somewhat in Islam but the two are obviously different
Judaism may be older but Christianity is an entirely different system of beliefs that nearly rejected all of the Jewish practices.

Uberbased

I like the look, it made (and still makes) me wish that more male characters had longer hair..

Aside from the blue eyes, he looks Greek.

Muslim Superman

I've always had a soft spot for the look, and I'm happy to see it's not as hated as people used to make it out to be.

Dumb as hell, but still has a sort of charm to it. Could work on an older, experienced Superman.

>blue superman.

i'm still baffled that this was a thing

Literally my first comic ever

Attached: YQXBejg.png (500x465, 560K)

some of the earliest comics i remember reading were back issues of superman from around then

Attached: 27388.jpg (800x1254, 533K)

That's neat, I always like hearing about people's first comics, my first comic ever was a Superman comic with Cyborg Superman on the cover and a ripped American flag.

That hair is superb.

>Joker looks better with long hair just like Superman.

i don't think it works as well. unless you're going for some sort of hobo clown look or something

didn't Clark keep the mullet in a ponytail of sorts?

It can work, just as short hair Joker can fail too it depends how it's pulled off.

Some guys can carry off long hair - Hemsworth looks good, so far, with it at any length save for when it was long but not really long enough as it was for his Aussie soap opera days.

Alexander SkarsgÄrd also can carry off long hair well. If they had the right actor, sure. Most of the time it has been animated, it really hasn't looked good (although the long hair with the beard on the very block, barrel chested Supes from the DCAU did pull it off in Hereafter, Part 2 but he didn't really wear the standard Superman uniform in those images.

I personally don't think it looked good in the 90s.

This especially was my problem with it, especially with a suit and tie, but that's what I say anytime I see anyone trying to rock that look today, in real life or on TV or cinema, especially if instead of a pony tail, they try a man bun.

i think he mostly just slicked it back

i kinda wish they kept the spikes for awhile

Attached: hippie.png (540x296, 313K)

the few issues i saw with the ponytail did look pretty bad tho

Attached: IMG_7043.jpg (1600x1287, 576K)

superman has curly/wavy hair so it would be particularly hard to pull off. superboy was kind of awkward enough imo

Fuck yeah, hippie Superman reminds me of Sunshine Superman.

Anything looks good when Based Bolland draws it.
