They could handwave SHIELD as taking place in the Loki escapes timeline. We know Thanos attacks Earth in AoS, but maybe in this one he just gets defeated because the Avengers never split up or something.

Well it's a year later, it COULD be said that this is now the new normal for them after the world more or less settled down and they are trained to deal with the kind of PTSD that the snap would have cause for those who survived.

He had a breakdown after his first kill (Lucio, aka Medusa-Eyes) and that really messed with him. To make matters worse immediately after killing Lucio they had all the conspiracy and finger pointing when they learned Hive had an inside Inhuman on the team. Between all that he just realized he wasn't cut out for it and quit.

"Serial killer's son" is a bit of a soft sell on SON PF SATAN though.

She became way too reckless and impulsive. She thought the world was going to end and that only she could fix it (much like Talbot and Hale and Ruby). That was a nice little theme to the season: What would you do and how far would you go if you believed you were destined to do something, that only you could save it all?

If I had to guess it was her killing Ruby that ultimately led to them breaking up.
