>What is this thread? Every Wins'day at Win-O'-Clock we gather here and post links to the latest scans and rips of comic books. Most links we uploaded ourselves, others we are sharing from elsewhere. Some comics we've even purchased ourselves (but most we didn't). If you'd like to help out, just ask and we would be delighted to tell you how. Otherwise, be patient, be polite, and understand the simple concept behind these words: Not posted means not available yet.
>Where can I find downloads for other comics? Warez forums/blogs, DDL-indexing search engines (like FilesLoop), torrent trackers (like WorldWide Torrents) and other P2P networks (like DC++). If a link has been posted on Yea Forums, you can search for it in the Desu archive (add "http*" to searches to return only posts with links). If all else fails, just >buy it.
>Where can I buy comics? comixology.com/ amazon.com/ On the various publishers' webstores, and at your local comics shop.
>How do I download from websites that only give me .exe files? Untick the checkbox under the download button.
>How can I find this thread every week? If you are using the inline extension go to Yea Forums.org/co/official or use the option under "Filters & Post Hiding". If you have 4chanX go to Settings > Filter > Subject and add the following line: /Official Win-O'-Thread/;highlight

What do you guys use for reading comics on windows? I really like ComicRack's ability to scrape info and easily sort my comics by year or series or whatever, but it's also pretty clunky and has issues at times.
They were never put on comixology. It seems that at some point in 2016 DC forgot to put up releases for a couple months

Dammit, half The Authority is still not available in digital. I've no illusions about stuff like the Gen13 crossover ever getting a digital but it sure as shit would be nice if at least most of it could be available in proper quality.

GetComics might also have it, hell even My Comic Post might have them but watch out of strunke/lebdev/alexandria posts - those are just shit disguised as comic books
Nothing major in 1-4, except a blank panel in one book. Better series than I expected, but then again, I'm not a big Alex Alice fan so my expectations weren't stellar to begin with. I'm even considering reading the sequel.
+1 for One Night In Rome #3 and Ogre Gods but that'd be a bit silly.

Hello, this is the guy from the last Win-O' that asked about a physical scan of The Batman Files. I managed to find something that may or may not be bogus, but unfortunately it's on China's Baidu Cloud service, and they're currently blocking any foreign registrations, so I'm locked out and thus can't confirm or deny:
This is one hell of a shot in the dark, but if anyone on here has a valid working Baidu account and can confirm if the file is legit, would they be able to put it up on mega or usercloud? I'd be IMMENSELY grateful.
Lincoln Gonzalez

Slightly better filtering, Auto Posting, Expand All and Mark New IP being the most notable ones. The downside is that you have to wait for mayhem to update it every once in a while, whenever mook does something that breaks it. m00t omitted Expand All and Auto Posting for obvious reasons.
Matthew Lopez
>To make a good scan you have to cut the spine off, thus destroying the book.
Not true with some of the more modern book scanners, actually.
Aiden Lopez
I'm sceptical, unless you're talking about some commercial grade thing, possibly the size of an old office photo copier.
There's only so much technology can compensate for, and you'd have to either mash the book into the scanner, resulting in uneven scans, or the scan would look blurry were the page bends up to connect with the spine.
Not the user you're responding to, but I'd assume they'd use something like this that takes photos, rather than actually scanning the surface: youtube.com/watch?v=ne-h7FTMZBk
Jackson Morales
Even with modern scanners, depending on how an HC is printed, you do have to tear your book apart - it's why I stopped with some of the DC archive books I was working on.
You can do some of the thick trade paperbounds on the modern scanners, but you are ruining the spine on some of those even if you take extreme care.
Jason Young
And even with this one you'll have a gutter shadow, however tiny, making spreads a real bitch to process.
Josiah Howard
>commercial grade thing I worked for a law firm and one of the things you still have to do, even with a lot of stuff now being required to be electronic, is photocopy and attach (even if today it might be a PDF) copies of the previous rulings and statutes that might apply. Some of those books might be really old or might be really local and some of that stuff is not yet digitized, so some modern copiers will duplicate the pages you want, rotate them, crop and trim gutters and so forth, till you end up with something pristine and even create the PDF for you and pop it into your inter office mail.
They are more expensive than your standard office copier (research colleges and pretty much anyone dealing with old books would have at least one of these) but they aren't commercial grade that you would only find at a print shop or some such.
Samuel Jones
That's all well and fine for actual books, as those are required to have a margin. Comics, however, may use the whole page, which ranges from a minor problem to a huge pain in the ass the closer you get to the gutter, depending on the optics used.
Caleb Baker

which is why i asked how long is a piece of string, we have no idea what will be ripped aside from release date floppies and even then some stuff doesn't always get ripped, it's just a chance of what's gonna be on sale, what are the rippers personally buying and why are you such a faggot but that's just my 2 cents
Parker Thompson
But then you would be reported all the time.
Benjamin Cox
Intrinsically a piece of string has length but that length is unknown hence the phrase 'how long is a piece of string' means that the quantitative answer is not known and there is an implicate understanding that the answer will be difficult to find given the information available.

A. those scanners are doing the GA and SA books that are out of print or in public domain so no one owns them or is going to digitize for sale on CMX, etc. They already own the equipment and either like or want to scan; plus
B. the books are free
The IDW someone has to buy AND want to scan, no one of the current scene of rippers is really doing scans and if they are, it's not of stuff like these

Some FCBD books have not ever been scanned much less made available in digital, although in some cases, they have been released way later (years later), but some still have not had either a scan or a proper rip.
Almost all digital media that you currently own or that anyone currently owns, whether it's a stolen or purchased movie, stolen or purchased song, stolen or purchase comic book or any other kind of printed thing, your photographs from your phone, etc. will all be either in a format that is obsolete or in a dead external in 50 years or less, whereas books 500 years old can still be read.

>whereas books 500 years old can still be read That is assuming they didn't completely dissolve because the paper was so shit. That is assuming they didn't get liquid dumped all over it. That is assuming they haven't been read so often the ink pigment had simply been rubbed off. That is assuming nobody tore off a page or two.
Elijah Garcia
On that note, does anyone have an idea of which FCBD books from this year are not expected to have a digital release anytime soon? I’ll try to scan them if I have them.
I've got meetings all the rest of the day but I'll try to get you some info later - but there's nothing like an actual list, it will be somewhat educated guesswork and so forth.
Do you have access to all the books? It will be mostly indie FCBD books that might fall into this situation.
Gavin Ward
>Regular backup is a thing Storage media that was usable in the 1970s doesn't exist today, ditto the 1980s and 1990s.
Assuming you are able to transfer them all - yes, you can perpetually transfer for the next fifty years, there likely will be some form of storage media in 2069, but it won't be what exists TODAY.
And some people here themselves won't be around to do that transferring.
Wyatt Wood

>Storage media that was usable in the 1970s doesn't exist today, ditto the 1980s and 1990s i still have a pc on windows 95 that i use every so often for DOS and older windows games that still has the original 8 or 10gb hdd in it

Hypnobutt.gif is from the anime intro. Make of that what you will.
You're conveniently forgetting that the 70s were the formative years of home computing and digital media and that things therefore improved by leaps and bounds, so of course those huge-ass floppy disks would be instantly scrapped when those tiny ones that could store more data were introduced. And of course those smaller ones were instantly replaced when CDs came around. But you know what? Truly important content was transferred over to the new medium.
