I loved MCU Cap but I always felt like after The First Avenger he was lacking in something that classic 80's Cap had (and I always consider the 80's Roger Stern to early Gruenwald to be my definitive Cap). Whedon made him too straightlaced in Avengers (because he can't write a character that does not quip) but I did like how he showed that Steve was a character that worried about getting civilians to safety and that he wasn't willing to risk lives. I also liked how he showed scenes of Cap saving people and people reacting to him. The waitress, that cut scene where he saves that one kid and his family and the kid is pretty wow'd. The cop that gives Steve some sass only to listen to him when he beat that Chitauri. He showed why people would like him. He mellows out in AoU even though that "You need war" thing was weird but I guess it was just Steve's fear more than anything which I can buy.
Russos Cap was fine too but they gave him this perpetually tired aura like he's just done with everyone's shit most of the time. They also said that they didn't like Captain America comics (yet they wank Brubaker so I guess they like that) and said to Feige that Steve in the present time had to be more dour and disillusioned and that's really not Steve Rogers at all (again they probably read too much Brubaker Cap). I mean after he comes out of the ice and has to deal with his reality for awhile but eventually it gets tiresome. They did however have Steve being able to joke a bit and their Steve also gave good speeches (In Winter Soldier he inspires people to fight HYDRA and in Endgame he manages to inspire everyone to go get the stones even someone like Rocket was wowed by his speech).
And he was worthy too, I fucking loved that, so did my theater.
But overall, yeah I'm with in the fact that I have some small complaints but I loved him overall.

But yeah Hemsworth I think just started not giving a shit and he prefers the comedic nature.Honestly I don't think none of them Thor movies really embodied Thor in the comics but at this point I am whatever about it and enjoy them or pick them apart for what they are. I would be very content with just having a one season animated adaptation of Walt Simonson's Thor.
I dunno I think it will last as long as Feige wants to keep doing them. The moment he's like "Fine I am done" or wants to retire it's when they will reboot. Or maybe they get someone else to replace him and they succeed or screw the pooch so badly they reboot anyway.

I think only TFA showed Steve Rogers the man. After the Russos took over, it became about Cap reacting to things that happen to him. We didn't get a single Sarah Rogers scene either. They didn't like him for who he was in a majority of his comics. And you're right about Whedon too. The humanizing scenes should have been left in.

True. It's not overanalysing, it is different. The other men aren't shown in an objectified light. And the only movie that didn't do it was maybe The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Whedon kept it playful but Endgame went hard on making it uncomfortable to watch.
Bless Evans and Downey. The MCU's formula was taking B list heroes and making them astronomically popular. If Cap and Tony were jokes, consider how unknown Hawkeye was and how he's at least semi-popular in the world.

WandaVision - It will be interesting seeing Wanda live with a simulacra of Vision, would raise all kinds of "if you clone someone, is it really your loved one" consciousness questions.
Falcon and Bucky - I don't know. It's one of those "the fandom got very noisy and I can't possibly like it" situations, like Voltron or SU. And it sucks because I loved them already before this hype.
Spiderman - Not looking forward to Tony Stark being Uncle Ben but I don't think they had a choice. The sooner they ditch the Stark-ness, the borrowing from Miles and Riri-esque plot though, the better. They should let him be his own Spidey. Not an amalgam of different characters. Maybe different versions of Pete, sure.

This again. Steve could lift Mjolnir in Age of Ultron and Whedon teased that he could all he way back in 2015. It has nothing to do with the Russos or Steve apparently knowing and hiding Tony's parents' death.
Also, he couldn't even confirm for himself based on a two second blurb Zola gave in The Winter Soldier. He had a hunch. Imagine sicking Iron Man onto a brainwashed Hydra pawn based on a hunch.
However, I think it's one of those fan theories that will get repeated often enough it'll become accepted as word-of-god canon or the directors will echo it.

That was my complaint about the Ultimates as well. Bryan Hitch clearly can draw but his way of laying out the panels was stiff and laborious. It was made worse because they decided that the final massive battle against the Liberators had to take place in the rain. I used to like Pepperony before Iron Man 3 but after, it became a forced and awkward thing put into movies. His armor tried to kill her, she couldn't handle his super-heroing and so on. I want to say I liked them in Endgame but it still felt like forced hetero to me.
The movie overall went hard on Man + Woman == Good over and over, especially for Tony, Clint and Steve. He's had eyes for Pepper, yes. But she's not a gift you win at a raffle for "giving up" being a super hero.
It's the same complaint I have with Steve and Peggy but Steve's story is creepier because he literally buried the woman. But going back in time to be with her was "romantic".
Both make no sense to me other than Disney putting it in to pander to China, Russia and other straights.

It's understandable that she wants out from the relationship because she isn't equipped to deal with Tony's trauma from Avengers 1 and she doesn't have to trap herself into a relationship where she doesn't feel safe. I like how in the MCU Harley retroactively serves to show much Tony has changed when it comes to handling children. He's a lot more open and soft with Peter and Morgan than he initially was for Harley.

Tony’s always seemed to like/be kind to kids, but his evolution into somebody who actually wants his own kids was very good. I also liked the comparison to his own dad, who either ignored or bullied him as a kid if we take the comic tie ins as canon, and how different their final recorded messages for their kids were.

It's been frustrating to watch their writing for Tony since sometime in Civil War. I used to like him a lot more. But Endgame was peak annoying.
