These fantasies in S02E04 were really fun, especially getting to see the old costumes.
But seriously, one thing I really like in this show is the way they're always giving us little glimpses into the logistics of this war. The nitty-gritty, the politics. Like, these are all kids or young adults, but they're still dealing with a conflict that feel grounded these fairly realistic kinds of problems. Of course, we don't get bogged down with this stuff, >This town was our greatest supplier of... Supplies! It's basically a big orchard. And the storytelling is very strictly episodic, but there is clearly somebody on that team working to give the audience a sense that this war is not just child's play.
Adora learning to use her powers is also very slowly paced, which makes it feel more earned, which is freaking great, these things are so often rushed.

You're right. This show has an agenda. It portrays characters, dynamics and behaviors that align with a particular ideology. And yea, regular guy I don't feel represented by anyone in this story. At all. And you know what? That doesn't matter. I don't have to be able to insert myself into a story to enjoy it. And I don't begrudge any writer the right to write something that has nothing to do with my demographic. Honestly classic-style 'dude' stories are kind of dead anyways. I mean, look at the MCU and GoT. The two biggest media franchises, which, yes, perform their mandated portion of feminism, but aside from that, consistently fail to deliver satisfactory conclusions. We can blame bad writers, and we definitely should, but I read discussions about these stories and I ask myself, "what would satisfy these guys? What would satisfy me?" Do I want Jon Snow to beat TNK in a sword fight? Not really. I want something fresh, I just don't know what. Honestly I can't imagine what could accomplish that. I think we've lost our taste for those traditional masculine tales, which just can't bring ourselves to admit it.

With four being what I think the show should have been, fun times with silly characters, and episode five being what the show wants to be, A light-hearted war drama that focuses on good people divided by arbitrary things like sides. I feel like this might be the show's undoing. Unable to make a decision between the two formats and ultimately making the choice to go for the darker story; only to never come as close as it potentially could.

Truth being told the old She'Ra wasn't that popular, as a little girl I watched He'man more with my dad because I found it a better show overall, She'Ra always felt like diet-he'man to me. The only thing that makes this new series it's own is that other Masters of the Universe characters haven't been introduced and it's basically raping the source material and not respecting it the same way the 2002 Masters of the Universe did, where it only modernized the designs, but kept the characters largely the same, but in a more fleshed out stories aimed at an older audience. It's simply just a Steven Universe clone.
A number of them dislike the show on facebook, there's MOTU groups and the new She-Ra show has negative buzz around it by the fans who kept it alive and going all these years, that's why Mattel is making dolls based on the original series and not the Netflix one

It was a terrible work enviroment and cartoons where picked by the companies and not the animators themselves, is why the 90's was such a good era. John K talks a lot about this but he isn't the only one, there's many videos about it, I grew up with many 80's cartoons too and it was a dark moment in animation history.

They made 2 figures and 2 alone, based on the new She-ra and Catra, and they were 5poa garbage like a modern Star Wars figure. They looked like shit and weren't even made by Mattel, but instead Super7, since Mattel wasn't going to make any figures for the new show. They then charged a retarded amount for the two figures, and that was it, no more.
Mattel on the other hand has been showing off high articulated dolls using the same body, but cast in different colors and with different heads and cloth clothing, which they said they'd produce if fans wanted them. They've already produced a few, with a new version of She-Ra at this year's Power-Con, which will be based off her look from her vintage figure's outfit rather than the cartoon.
Voltron had toys though. I didn't watch the new series however, because I was worried it'd be shit, since it was on Netflix in current year.

Yeah, they had a female director on a good number. Each director would have a certain number of episodes they did, so they'd split up the episodes for the season amongst a group of directors. The male directors liked to show action, but the female director didn't because she said the show as aimed at small children, which pissed off some of the writers, such as Paul Dini, who worked on the cartoon and often wrote Teela episodes, since he waifued her. Bruce Timm also used to draw the mini-comics that came with the toys in a connection to Dini.

And tumblr's not a niche market? Adventure Time's series finale pulled in barely 1 million viewers from what I recall and that was way more popular than current year She-Ra, which doesn't even have toys at retail. Meanwhile MOTU at least has Mega Construx and figures from Super7, with a Mega Construx Castle Greyskull on the way, and a Snake Mountain by Super7 in the works. There's also a yearly convention.

2002 didn't need to do an episode just based off the original, because it was pretty much all the same premise as the original, just updated for modern audiences and made to look the way the characters were always intended, but had been limited to the filmation style back in the 80's, which relied on recycled animation and being geared toward small children with their stories and action.
The characters were more or less the same and the premise was the same. It was the perfect adaptation, and it was done, because the people working on it were familiar with the original and loved it. She-Ra was even going to appear, but they were cancelled during the middle of season 2, so she only got an action figure, and that one was an exclusive.

Why do people compare this series to the old one as it was a golden masterpiece? I mean the old She-Ra it was an icon of 80ths and it has its significance in pop culture, but the series itself aged like milk and this one its rather decent, with its clear faults.
