I don't think I have ever enjoyed a comic book series where that didn't happen.

normally when you ruin a design its simple. fans dont like it, the end.

Hell, the series missed the point of the original Exiles that was purposely using alternative forms of B-List and C-List characters. In this series? Kamala Khan as Cable! Cartoon Wolverine! MCU Valkyrie who is gay with genderbent Bucky! It just feels like the snake eating its own tail with the lack of any new ideas at Marvel. I mean, fuck, the lesbian Sunfire they had in original Exiles was one of the most beloved characters of that series because she actually had a character beyond "Look how flamboyant I am being a lesbian and Asian!"

100% this. exiles always felt like a cool inhouse way of showing fans cool concepts like what would rogue and magnetos kid look like, what if professors X was pure evil from the start or a version of sabertooth thats a cool dad.

instead they took this concept and twisted into changing every character to tick a minority box for cheap drama.

And it's always the same obvious shit too. Like, I hate how the MCU was the best and worst thing to happen to Marvel, because the only knowledge people have of comics now is just the MCU.

I wouldn't say GotG 2008 is my favorite comic, but the whole Marvel Cosmic Saga from 2006-ish to 2011 has a special place in my heart. But then the movie came along and all of those characters are ruined forever.

Heck the Ravagers weren't pulled out from his ass, they are based on some pretty obscure original Guardians bad guys and they also wore red uniforms andtook a kid and raised said kid (instead of Star-Lord it was Stakar Ogord).

He didn't go into specifics but he said the Creative Committee (which Bendis was part of) forced him to include Thanos in the movie and to rewrite scenes with Thanos and Ronan multiple times to the point it affected Ronan as a character.

I remember reading a rumor about Bendis being the one who wrote Thanos' dialogue with Ronan and the Other but I dunno how true it is.

However I do know that the Creative Committee wanted to get rid of the 70's soundtrack in Gunn's GotG because they didn't think it was going to be popular and people would think it was bad. Gunn fought to keep that, especially since it was an integral part of his story.

Anyway till this day Gunn says that he's bothered by how Ronan came out and he wishes he could redo the parts with Ronan and Thanos. That experience also made him conscious of not accepting work if they force him to do things he doesn't want to and supposedly because of that Feige lets him have free reign of the Guardians.

He also read Dogfucker's issue of Legendary Star-Lord with Rooker Yondu lite because Dogfucker sent it to him and Gunn was curious about the comic specifically for Rooker Yondu. Gunn never talked about that comic again (probably because it was shit) and doesn't really seem to really acknowledge Dogfucker.

Sunfire and Morph's relationship was one of the best parts of the original series. That the two very clearly loved one another but in a way that was (mostly) non-romantic and just how much her death got to him. You don't really see a lot of good deep platonic relationships like that, especially not with characters of the opposite sex. It always just goes right to shipping and romance.

The problem is that there is not a lot of reason for the band to get back together after Avengers vs Thunderbolts. The OG Bolts had wonderful chemistry and the team stayed together and grew organically.

Wonder Woman with flashpoint

Bendis started his run by separating Lois and Jon Fromm Superman, by having Jor-El (who was the antagonist of the Oz Effect story arc) take them for space adventures. Then Lois, for no fucking reason, decides to go back to Earth cause she couldn’t handle all the crazy space adventures so SHE LEAVES HER SON WITH JOR-EL. Jon then ends up in a past version of Earth 3 being tortured by the Crime Syndicate, so he ages up and is 16 years old or something. Whatever. His OC, Rogal Zaar or whatever the fuck he’s called is apparently responsible for destroying Krypton, he destroys the bottled city of Kandor and kills all of the miniature Kryptonians. Superman can now spam Super Flare without it depowering him, taking away any drama or handicap that gave the ability any sort of importance. Rogal is also SOOOOO strong he can fight both Superman and Zod at the same time, killed fucking Nuclear Man from Superman 4 (whom Bendis was hyping up online like as if he was gonna use the character for a story arc) and everyone acts and talks like morons. Superman’s Fortress of Solitude is also now located in The Bermuda Triangle, despite fucking Zebel being located there, too. It’s a fucking mess. There’s also Bendis ignoring continuity and being a lazy ass writer. There’s a few neat moments but Bendis’ bad outweighs the good stuff he’s doing. His Action Comics run wasn’t half bad, but sure enough he can’t help himself from ruining it. I really want Tomasi back cause fuck Bendis.
