Code Lyoko

Do you think its worth bringing back or did Evolution put the final nail in the coffin?

I want it back, if only so I can keep fantasizing about Aelita and Yumi.

The original cartoon ended well enough. Just ignore Evolution and let it rest.

giant front

they only real way would be to retcon evolution

They don't even need to when the cartoon concluded the story already. William got saved, Aelita's dad sacrificed himself to stop XANA, and the supercomputer got shut down forever.

Again, simply disregard the live-action show's existence.

What do you mean?

I find the most erotic part of a woman to be the forehead.

I hate it. The character designs are ugly.

A competent reboot would be fantastic but that almost never happens.

Bring it back so we can have more porn.

Attached: 18.png (498x295, 224K)

They could always animate the stories from the comics and/or the novels.

Attached: shaken23.jpg (800x1130, 637K)

Evolution at least kept some of the animation, so I think they could salvage it if they really wanted to. The only reason I even watched Evolution was because William got some time actually fighting on the team

The novels were garbage.

We need to go bigger. BIGGER 5 HEADS

Too bad it turned Aelita into a turbo bitch for some reason. Only thing I liked about her in evolution was they actually dyed her live action actresses eyebrows pink

Oh man, I remember finding this over a decade ago because it was pretty much the only porn of the series at the time. Was some good faps

The show had a very satisfactory conclusion. It didn't needed a sequel in the first place. Just let a show die with dignity

I'd like to see a reboot of the series at this point. But it would probably be fucked up.

I actually liked what Evolution was trying to do, outside of anything to do with Aelita's mom. Execution on the live action piece was bad from both a visual and writing perspective but overall the Lyoko story felt like a natural extension. A XANA fragment on a shut-down supercalculator comes back online when someone restarts their old project. With everyone in danger of getting their code drained plot-wise it was Season 2 again but with all the worldbuilding advantages of later Lyoko. The Cortex was a better Sector 5 too.

I'd bring it back, but animated again and pretending 90% of the school didn't disappear for a semester.

I recently rewatched the show, this time with my 11 year old brother. Besides a few things, the show holds up well. A shame Sissi didn't become a member.

She was originally a member of the team, but they wiped her memory because she told people about Lyoko.

I know user, I just wish they didn't hold a grudge against her for it for 3 seasons straight, only to finally realize that they're partially responsible for her bitchiness.

Bump

yeah. actually i'd like to see them bring back miguzi in general

For what purpose?

I actually liked Aelita's new level of snark in Evolution.

Attached: tumblr_mxinymeX3z1smlffyo5_250.gif (245x200, 358K)

Yumi's actress was better.

It had some interesting ideas, like revealing what Project Carthage actually was and why Franz tried to destroy it in the first place, and the organization that was after it provided a new threat that the kids hadn't dealt with before. But the problem was how the books skimmed over much of the series and ultimately skipped a lot more just to get to its new plot instead of just starting off from the conclusion of the cartoon, and as I understand they made XANA become good or something in the very end.

Depends on how it handles things. I could see something that retreads a lot of the ground from the original show, while drawing from Evolution and the novels, and either creating an entirely new ending or just piling more stakes onto the last mission as the kids save Aelita's mom, destroy the other guy's supercomputer, and finally eliminate XANA once and for all.

Attached: Waiting for Code Lyoko reboot.jpg (640x480, 27K)

Wasn't XANA just still alive on the net because Jeremie's multi-agent program didn't completely delete it as previously thought?

Whatever happened to that Fan revival that was suppose to happen?

They never really did realize their wrongdoing, which is one thing that has miffed people for so long. Would have been interesting if the kids had tried to rationalize what had happened, especially since they know that in the timeline they rewound from, Sissi had acted a bit selfishly when she got all bothered by Yumi's appearance, but then realize that was just her still being emotional from wanting to help the gang. Will say though, it was kind of dumb how she just up and shits on Nicholas and Herve the instant she's got an in with the gang.

The one with the really shoddy looking animated promo where the characters were breaking the 4th wall? No clue. Hadn't heard much about it after one thread discussed it and cleared up the confusion that they weren't actually in possession of the copyright.

>like revealing what Project Carthage actually was and why Franz tried to destroy it in the first place
Please do elaborate. Curiosity is killing me.

From what I understand of the translated plot synopsis, they reveal it's something like another hidden sector, but displayed as a kind of city or whatever. And it's purpose was to help with communications before somehow decided to make it some kind of blackout program that could have decimated the world's communications.

It was a pretty dull ending, to be honest. No Project Carthage, no government involvement...
Just some replicas, a generic plan to take over the world with robots, a big ass Boss enemy, William's rescue and the deletion of XANA.
KIlling off Hopper felt pretty lazy, too. Instead of saving him and giving the group a new, fresh dynamic for the last 10 episodes or so, they just killed him off. No secrets revealed, no interesting interaction. Just a ball of light that goes boom. Riveting.

It did give things a pretty bittersweet tone, since it meant that their victory came with a cost instead of just eliminating a threat that the world didn't know about with nobody the wiser. As for things like Carthage, it had seemed to become kind of irrelevant after the diaries were unlocked, since it pretty much became more about Franz's life trying to take care of Aelita and give her a safe place to live, only to end up trapped in his own creation.

it would be nice to see more french cartoons aired over here. or just action cartoons in general

If a reboot did get made, I'd love to see them change things like how Lyoko is restored after XANA deletes everything. It'd be pretty cool of Jeremie and Aelita rebuilt it into something resembling the pilot world, Xanadu, wherein it looked more like an island of sorts with a more natural and realistic (sans the towers and wires) setting than the sort of video game styled way the original sectors were set up.

Attached: Aelita Battle Angel.png (716x854, 336K)

Company tried to make a supercomputer. Aelita's parents worked there thinking it was for communication, it is actually for evil. Xana was a program of said computer but it got corrupted after a while. Aelita's dad escaped and tried to shut it down.

Evo seemed like the final nail in the coffin
It probably would have been more well received if it was Cartoon/CGI, rather than live action/CGI.
Only improvement with Evolution IMO was the CGI. Looked a lot better

Where else can they take the story?

You can do that already.

Definitely, the whole live action thing just felt so out of place. While I can understand that it is somewhat cheaper to make live action footage over animation, it fell victim to a number of issues that arise from using actual people and sets to tell a story, especially a televised one.

Franz Hopper dying could've been fine if he was given some time to shine. As it was, I really didn't care about him.

Yea, they could have given him at least some lines to speak before he was vaporized, but they were kind of weird about explaining how he interacted with things as the glowing ball.

>Yawgmoth tier machine god
>Losing to children

Jim deserves some kind of spin off

Attached: rather not talk about it.jpg (749x571, 49K)

It still had to use some kind of tech as a conduit, it wasn't like XANA could just do things entirely on its own. And at least the show kept its corruption as some kind of unforeseen effect of the qubits rather than being turned evil by a virus.

Too bad he never got to stay with the group and help out in some fights. Would have been pretty cool since he claimed to have a wide range of skills.

Attached: GI Jim.jpg (1000x800, 385K)

XANA is nowhere near Yawgmoth tier

Jim was based and got ripped off

Not entirely, he got to help out here and there throughout the show, even if only a handful of the times let him be as badass as the season 1 finale.

There's an episode of *something* on YouTube now.

How bad is it?

Attached: Zero Gravity Zone.gif (316x315, 2M)

It wasn't quite complete though, they hadn't found out what happened to Aelita's mom, which was probably the only interesting thing about Evolution.

If there were a reboot, when should it be set? The original series was in the early 00s, though it never did much to make it feel dated beyond the flip-phones the kids had. On one hand, putting it in the modern day (give or take x amount of years) would mean that the kids would have the benefit of smartphones which are markedly more reliable than older phones, and would mean that Jeremie could more easily sneak a peek at the XANA detection program compared to having to pull out a clunky laptop. Granted, laptops are much more common in schools these days due to them all but removing the need for textbooks and notepads, so there is that as well since he could just add the program to his computer and just be careful that teachers don't think he's fucking about with games.

Yep.

Attached: Delmiyazaki shares his thoughts on CL.png (720x573, 68K)

XANA, for all its reality-warping insanity, never once approached the degree of threat that Yawgmoth held. Maybe if it spammed like a bajillion Returns To The Past in quick succession, but even then it's doubtful.

Did a rewatch a few months ago
It didn't hold up as well as I thought it'd be

One new opinion I struggle with is whether or not the kids being assholes to each other every once in a while or with Sissi or whatever popular person opposed them is realistic (they're in middle school after all )or just bad writing

He had one but he'd rather not talk about it

Attached: Odd happy.jpg (720x576, 46K)

While it will vary from person to person whether they can still enjoy the series now or not, I would say that the kids were indeed pretty realistic. Perhaps not 100% believable, but enough so that you felt like they were kids with turbulent emotions and not just one-note characters. Ulrich had an overbearing father and yellow fever which led to him being snarky as fuck whenever one or the other got under his skin. Jeremie quite often let his work get the better of him and he'd lose sight of how the others felt, but still always meant well in the grand scheme of things. I would say that Odd was a bit lacking, if only because they missed a chance to maybe imply his cheeriness and tendency to joke was something of a coping mechanism because of the stresses he had with his family, namely his several sisters who we never got to see.

Are there any good Jeremy-in-Lyoko designs?

None that I can recall. A lot tended to be DA tier stuff of him in a Peter Pan style outfit, or just wearing the elf costume Aelita's doll Puck had. Then you had some that tried to give him a cooler look, either purposefully ignoring the episode where Ulrich and Odd shat on him for looking really stupid, or maybe suggesting what his season 4/5 look could have been like.

Attached: Jeremie just downloaded all the porn.png (720x576, 428K)

I always pictured him in the TRON suits

Was this ever finished?

I don’t think a new season or reboot could ever capture the realistic teenage conflict the show was always so good at portraying

A reboot might, since it could start from the beginning and retell things while expanding the characters. A revival certainly would be difficult because of how much time has passed since the original series ended, meaning we'd have to get a lengthy reintroduction to get people up to speed with the plot. And even then that depends on whether you keep what Evolution did canon or ignore it and start off with an entirely new plot set after episode 95

Attached: Lyoko after years.jpg (1600x746, 251K)

apparently his look would have been similar to Aelita's early seasons look, but more closer to peter pan. It would fall in line with how the others felt about him.

Where was this stated?

Attached: s4_04.jpg (1255x930, 112K)

Attached: Yumi swim.jpg (655x491, 48K)

In the books it is stated that he looked like an elf with a suit close to Peter Pan or one of the Santa's elves

Now thats a comic I have not thought about in a long time.

Attached: 1542261653767.jpg (192x192, 9K)

Yea, but that's the books, which are apparently a separate canon due to how they skip some events from the show and of course contradict with things like Evolution. Still, it was stated to be something "ridiculous" looking by Ulrich, so it's at least in line with being an unflattering look.

They blew their chance for a new dynamic the moment William joined and got corrupted in the same episode, and Hopper and his past was never anything but a MacGuffin. The ending we got was as best as it was ever going to get.

I recall one comic where he literally did not change appearance at all when in Lyoko.

whats it about

Xana posses a lot of people, there is rape.

Sure it was a comic? There was the one episode where he tried to enter the computer, but fucked up and nearly destroyed himself because his data got fragmented and he began to delete himself.

It was in one of those "official magazines" that they like putting out alongside shows. The comic literally just drew a slightly-pixelated 2D Jeremie in front of 3D Lyoko backgrounds.

Pretty cringe, but also cute. Look up Code Lyoko episode 103.

What was the plot? Seems odd they would make a story with him in Lyoko and not changed while inside it.

I love the puck idea

For me, I imagined those ancient European doctors with white needle nose masks but wouldn't align the episodes

I don't really recall, to be honest. I think there was a system fuckup that required him to actually risk going in himself to fix it. All I remember is how they didn't show him transformed at all.

You mean a plague doctor? That would be interesting, but certainly not fitting to Jeremie. Herve maybe, given he was kind of an edgy cunt given his perceived rivalry with Jeremie.

Seems odd. I vaguely recall something about a comic book tie-in that did try to explain shit about Franz being tied to the school early on in the comic's continuity compared to the cartoon's, but it seems like there's rarely ever much of the additional media out there to be seen in these threads.

Most of it never left France, so there's that.

And this comic was from one of those shitty "official magazines" that clearly weren't written by the show's staff, so you can imagine why they copped out on Jeremie.

Wasn't there also one that did that weird thing where they just took screenshots of the show, added a shitty effect to them and "retold" episodes of the show but in slightly abridged formats?

Attached: Sissi and her gang.jpg (1752x1266, 143K)

Attached: the_best_of_both_worlds_07.jpg (800x1065, 827K)

Most likely.

>volcanoes
Oh yea, there was some new sector with those in one of the games, right?

Yawgmoth was a dude who could do magic in a setting where lots of people do magic. XANA is the only dude in his setting who can do magic.

>Phyrexians: 0
>XANA: 1

Attached: Yawgmoth_VileOfferring.jpg (1024x768, 108K)

Probably a phone poster trying to type "Giant foreheads"

Doesn't change the fact that XANA is still limited by the need for a computer with towers in order to accomplish anything. Even after untying itself from the Supercomputer, it was still reliant on its towers in order to pull off its homicidal schemes.

I was told in a previous thread that the comics' writer (not Raylude; he only drew it) posted a complete script on the WWOEC forums or something, years after the fact. That would indicate that there was meant to be more to the comic, and it never got finished. But that user had no proof, didn't have the script, and couldn't so much as vaguely describe what happened in the script. So who knows if any of that was true. Either way, no one has seen hide or hair of Raylude for over a decade. Frankly I think the last page is a perfectly serviceable ending. I'd rather have an 18 page comic that reaches a climax and then stops, than a comic that starts with a simple premise and then rambles on for hundreds of pages and gets lost in its own plot.

I really liked the episodes where their lyoko forms were in the real world. Hated the faggy 5th sector and William angst and repetitive plots though. Autistic William clone was pretty funny though.

Or a comic that never gets anywhere and barely does anything sexy. Like that fucking Zelda comic where Link somehow brainwashes Saria and Navi, and was about to do the same to Malon.

>that episode where he teaches the kids survival and it all gets erased
>on the reset everyone quits on him
>but jeremie is eager to train and Jim is so proud
There was some good feels in this show

Sector 5 was pretty fun when it was like a kid-friendly version of the Cube with the deathtrap rooms that had a timer that had to be disabled. But yea, after they got good at hitting the timer and then disabled it later, there was almost nothing worthwhile about the sector aside from the core which was only a factor for like 7 episodes. William definitely needed to be freed much earlier and given his attempted redemption much sooner. As it was, he barely gets to do anything before getting possessed again and then ignored for the bulk of the finale, leaving Evolution to handle his redemption which by then felt pointless since it's like a year after the fact in-universe.

Attached: William and Sissi.jpg (488x369, 41K)

Too bad the training Jeremie opted for didn't seem to pay off. Would have been pretty rad if he gained even an ounce of skill and did something like throw a XANA-fied person with a defensive move.

Christ, is this fucking lazy...

You mean this?

Attached: d70brip-aaf046b1-5a25-4d20-b038-f4eed0f14c12.jpg (512x1000, 286K)

If the reason is because of some error, that would be fine, but he seems to be acting like he got into the computer with no problem and just screwed out of powers for no reason.

>that one episode where we learn he actually did all that stuff and legitimately did not want to talk about any of it

>That one episode where he actually does want to talk about it but the kids bail on him before he can start.

XANA did nothing wrong

This.
She was just misunderstood.

>that episode where they stop him mid sentence and accuse him of not wanting to talk about it
>well actually I’d love to but we just don’t have the time right now

Attached: 83928D42-8145-4C22-BDA7-C1258C37FB60.gif (250x250, 69K)

The final season was rushed, there were supposed to be a couple more episodes, introducing a lava section, but they ran out of money.

Got a source on that? Far as I understood, the volcano area was just something made for the games or whatever.

Never mind, I was incorrect.

Ah. I know there were some facts I only learned recently, like how the production bible had something about William suffering withdrawal or whatever after being freed from XANA, suggesting either a return to being XANA's pawn or at least a breakdown in his psyche, which would have been pretty interesting given he was possessed for the better part of a year almost whereas everyone else never went past a few hours at most. Of course, it would have been hard to hide another level that was just like the first 4 compared to sector 5 which was basically the nexus of the virtual world. Then again, the books did have a new area themselves, but I think it was isolated in a whole other computer or something.
Would be fun someday to maybe compile a list of production stuff, if only to get some insight into the series that normally isn't seen in these threads.

Attached: XANA-Jeremie.png (720x540, 619K)

Autistic William was great, him taking everything literally never stopped being funny

I honestly didn't see anything wrong with the final season aside from a bit of pacing lag in places and the final battle not really including anything we hadn't seen before in other fights. As it was, it was pretty decent conclusion, and the only issue I recall most people having was the whole issue of Aeltia's missing mom never being addressed until Evolution several years after.

What episode was this? I genuinely don't remember.

Books were OK

Episode 24, Ghost Channel. Probably one of the best episodes in general if only because it's one of the few times Jeremie nutted up and did something extremely brave by virtualizing himself. It was also pretty crazy seeing what was (at the time) XANA's presumed true form and how It apparently lacked the ability to comprehend a simple concept like risking one's own life to save their friends.
>NOT. LOGICAL!

On paper, the premise sounds interesting, but from what I understand now that they've been translated and summarized, it all sounds like fanfiction that was just "official" compared to others. If anyone ever does remake the series in some way, I could see them probably borrowing from the books by taking concepts like Carthage's true purpose and the conspiracy surrounding it's revival.

.hack that shit. Lyoko as an MMO.

For a game? I guess that would be interesting. And funnily enough, they had attempted to create an MMO for the series, though from what I understand, I don't think anything manifested beyond some test footage, not even a beta that anyone got to try. Though I wouldn't mind a Persona style game wherein you go to Kadic and attend lessons, then enter Lyoko and explore for secrets and fight the monsters while leveling up the gang and improving their skills. Though speaking of .hack, maybe have it that you can link data like levels through the sequels.

>it’s an episode where the bad guy has to team up with the good guy
This ended up having quite a few of them, and I always liked that it showed Xana had either a little honor or at least some sensibility
>helps them fight off that virus program jeremy made that went wild
>when they win xana bows out and goes home for the day with no conflict
You could argue he was weak then, but that hasn’t stopped countless other villains from taking a cheap and easy shot at the protagonists

Pretty sure that was the only time XANA teamed up. As for why It didn't turn on them, it is difficult to tell if It's power had been weakened or if XANA had developed a sense of honor. Given this was in season 2 when Aelita and XANA were tied to the Supercomputer, it's possible that XANA was indeed too weakened to launch an attack and try to take Aelita to drain her mind. Only other time XANA "teamed up" with the gang was when It possessed that convict and stole some nuclear shit because the computer's batteries were running low. And in that case, XANA was still gunning for Aelita while also using Jeremie to do the switch since it would mean temporarily disabling the computer.

Attached: When Sissi needs someone to be Ulrich for the night.jpg (720x576, 95K)

You guys know the theories that Bill Murray spent decades trapped in the loop in Groundhog Day?

How long do you think the Lyoko kids spent in timelines that they "returned to the past"from?

Why were the kids the only ones to keep their memories after the return trips? What conditions have to have been met for that. Can't be going into Lyoko cause Jeremy didn't do that for a while.

Jeremy did go to Lyoko. In the prequel episode, once they use the return to the past Yumi, Odd, and Ulrich remember what happened but Jeremy doesn't. So the others fill him in, and he decides to scan himself just once.

bump

Yawgmoth is also the only dude who became a plane of existence

Or a certain punishment comic "starring" Jade

not too long. there were probably weeks between attacks, so maybe they got a few dozen extra days per year
