basically what happened as i understand it is it was originally created as a sonic boom cartoon, and then the crew found out they wouldn't be allowed to work on it for very much longer after getting shafted to boomerang and it quickly became a "let the inmates run the asylum" situation where the crew just said fuck it and had as much fun as they could with the episode orders remaining.

The early episodes are meh. Animation is isnt too great but you can tell the kicked it up in the second season. Once the characters find their footing it's a pretty good show. Every once in a while they'll hit you with a really good joke. Just dont expect gut busters every few seconds.
