Because the team wasn't sure how they wanted to execute Starco and finally decided they'll just hamfist it in, everything else can be explained by what happens in between episodes (Tom's life searching and necklace which I guess he got from Janna) or magic shit. They also should've figured out by now that a portion of their viewers are actually adults and might as well boost them views. Best hope I suppose is that Starco will take a backseat to the plot and maybe it'll be hammered out along the way till the end.

I think because the show's ending and they knew it was ending while writing these episodes, the crew's just getting a bit more daring/open with the adult humor because it's not like it's going to affect the show's lifespan anyway.
I think Disney's also just lightened up a lot on what's allowed in their TV cartoons, compared to maybe the early/mid-2000s, and/or they just don't care as much now because TV's dying anyway. I feel like there was a point in time where just things like Star almost always wearing devil horns or characters saying "die" possibly wouldn't have been allowed; feels like networks etc. cycle in and out on what's acceptable and what's not in kids' cartoons each decade or so and the standards shift.

I'm also a '90s kid and was all about the show getting more lore in S2, I was even excited about S3 before I realized that was retarded, but the state the show was in just fucking depresses me compared to what it was before. I just feel that so many recent plot developments have just retroactively ruined what previous episodes set up (not those earlier episodes are ruined for me now; just that I can't stand the current's plot connection to stuff from before).
I appreciate the ATTEMPT to have lore and I really like the lorebooks taken in themselves as well, but I just can't consider most of S3 and S4 good writing. S1 was more self-contained but that also means there was less room for failure.
Honestly as of right now I just kinda want to get into some comedic cartoon without much in the way of plot/lore once Star Vs. ends. I've just been burnt hard enough and often enough by it now that I kinda feel like a show not trying for that kind of thing has more of a chance of actually being done well.
I'm still not at all opposed to cartoons trying more ambitious plots, but I can't see S3/4 as anything more than What Not To Do. I'll still praise S2 for what it did in that area though.
Also yeah this post is bitter and stupid. I've been posting about and following Star Vs. since episode 1 and I've invested way too much thought into it. Feelings run deep or something I dunno

I would tend to agree with you on this point, but Star vs has been biting off other peoples plates. Like, sure, aim for the sky and all that, but there is no reason to add things to the story/plot that have reason to be in the show. Mewni is now Israel due to the returned ancestral land, lineage vs aptitude, and teen parenthood are three such examples that kind of come out of nowhere for a show like this. They are all shown as giant grey blobs of morality in the show without any real guidance one way or the other. It makes for a very confusing show for kids to watch. I've been watching this with my neice (age 9) and when i asked her what she thought about these things, she doesn't really have an answer for herself, let alone to tell me. She does love the show though. I even got her a little devil horns she wears at home. Cute shit, but thank god its my sisters kid.

we've been clamoring for teen parenthood from the beginning. they set up a teen whose parents are incredibly supportive, who regularly bring new kids to live in his house and share a bathroom with him, a teen with MAD stacks of money.. and a fucking magical princess. I agree with this. I wonder all the time what the actual kids the show is ostensibly aimed at think of it and what kind of message, if any, those kids are picking up from the messages it's trying to get across. I think since season 2 or 3 it's been pretty clearly written more with the teenage/adult internet fanbase in mind, like the shippers and SJWs, than it feels like something meant for a kid to enjoy.
I especially wonder what they'd think of the really talky plot/ship progression episodes, ex. Sad Teen Hotline or Moon Remembers or something.

I agree that teen parenthood is an interesting topic, and I too have wanted a show to really tackle the issue, but star vs doesn't tackle it.
Cause I fully agree that season 1 monster issues were WAY better done. I felt like they asked the viewer a question with those episodes, instead of just showed a giant placard saying RACISM BAD. They had Star live through an experience and ask herself "Is this right?" which is a great message for kids to wrestle with. All it would take to make the issues in my first post more interesting is to just have someone offer a direct opinion on the matter. Like if Moon had said "Those monsters shouldn't have taken your home." or "Well thats the monsters original home, you will need to rebuild somewhere else." instead of essentially adopting the families, that would have been something to engage with as a young viewer. Season 1 and 2 was WAY better written then 3 and 4 in this regard, even if the issues in season 1 and 2 were honestly much more minor issues.

If I remember correctly the Mewni history calls Globgor her lover, not husband, I'm pretty sure that marriage would be void.
Also, Meteora's room in the temple could be just prepared for a later moving with Globgor.

Still doesn't quite add up because Shastacan was clearly alive when he gave Meteora away. So the plot requires (1) Meteora to be taken away before Globgor vored Shastacan and was subsequently crystallized AND ALSO (2) Eclipsa to have known about the vore but also that it was, supposedly, justified (it was not justified). So how exactly did all this go down? With 3 episodes left it's unlikely we'll get a straight answer, and so they all just feel like untrustworthy liars.
My current assumption is that Eclipsa was using Globgor as a dildo and they were also stoned out of their minds or something else equally irresponsible enough to just not notice Shastacan sneaking in or some shit and Meteora being taken directly from the temple. Then Shastacan took her back to the castle, then CAME BACK to the temple for some ungodly stupid reason, maybe to watch Globgor attempt to fuck Eclipsa in the ass with his micropenis since he caught them in the act the first time around, and Globgor sperged out and ate him and got frozen and then Eclipsa did after he made her put her clothes back on. They took her crystal back to Rhombulus an Lekmet's place but left his. Globgor pretty much has to have been crystallized at the temple because the implication from his position and Crystal Clear was that he was too big to be moved.
Or they're both just GIANT FUCKING LIARS who don't deserve the throne, but the show's not gonna go there.

It seems possible that Eclipsa could have read what happened in the archives (but then how would she know for sure exactly what the situation was), or that Eclipsa and Globgor were outside of the temple when Meteora was taken, OR that Globgor went directly to Butterfly Castle to vore Shastacan and then the MHC caught up with him later, back at the temple, and froze him.
But my point is that I shouldn't have to make up fanfiction like I just did for a sequence of events upon which Eclipsa and Globgor's entire supposed "innocence" is founded to even begin to make sense at all.

Weirdly enough, it didn't bother me as much as you might expect because I was just THAT psyched to see Toffee one last time.
Like don't get me wrong, Meteora is awful shit and the concept of her being a super powerful half-breed who can dip down as a baby when Star was exceptional for doing it at 14 is terrible, like something straight out of a Mary Sue fanfic. But Toffee IS an edgelord, and DOES constantly get BTFO by the people he underestimates, so really that was just kind of more of the same of what we've already seen.
He didn't get any terrible lines or plot twists and technically speaking that scene "really" happened before anything else he did in the show because time fuckery, so I guess you could say he moved past that or some shit (before being killed by another magical girl and a crippled manlet centuries later). He still comes off better than a lot of other S1 characters who made it to S4 because he still at least feels like the same guy.
So yeah it was dumb, but I'm also not raging about it.

Meteora on her own is a symbol and as a character she works great even as a baby. We've seen how protective she is towards the people she loves and her capacity to communicate even if her vocabulary is limited.
Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure about the Sailor Saturn plot-twist but I'm plenty satisfied with her character overall.
