they never stopped being for kids

This looks like The Eltingville Club. Or did every B&W 90's indie comic look the same?

They were never for kids.

It literally says Beto Hernandez in the corner you ignoramous. It's clearly Love & Rockets.

The successful ones are.

Attached: serveimage.jpg (500x676, 73K)

Love and Rockets is from the 80s

also that looks literally nothing like Eltingville

Plenty of kids still read comics in Europe. Donald Duck is huge here and pic related does really well in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Capeshit clearly isn't targeting actual kids anymore though.

No

>But you like dumb boring comics
>You should read the good kind
How LCS nightmare conversation start

they never stopped being for kids, and they never were just for kids,is as simple as that

They were but not anymore.

of course ???
can you name 3 comics that are NOT for kids ???

As far as I can tell, modern capeshit isn't trageting anyone.

>Capeshit clearly isn't targeting actual kids anymore though.

is this bait

You get that in any issue of Heavy Metal.

No it's the truth. I think they're targeting teens, collectors, SJW's and people who liked the movies these days (and they fail in reaching nearly all of them).

Dumb writing is not the same as targeting actual kids.

You don't get it, it's in black and white and there's comics in it, it's LITERALLY Eltingville!

Whether they are meant to be or not, kids don't read them. Kids play vidya and mobile app games and watch YouTube ecelebs.

But because of comics historically being for kids (or more accurately being forced to be suitable for kids by the CCA) the Big 2 in particular developed an attitude they've never really let go of even after the CCA was over and done, where the people buying their comics are mainly adults but they still write them as though they're writing for kids. The audience grew up but the comics didn't, though the comics might as well have become more adult focused because kids aren't really reading them any more. I can't help but wonder if the whole manchild stereotype of comics readers is tied in with this. This is far less of an issue for indie comics however (especially in Europe) which by and large were always targeted at adults.

Move Venus because L&R is great and she's adorable.

>artistic possibilities of the medium
>here's a milf with gigantic tiddies
Whatever you say, "Beto".

Why did you put Beto in quotation marks? He's actually Hispanic, this isn't "Beto" O'Rourke we're talking about.

Also the big titty milf part of the comic book possibility spectrum is just as valuable as any other, if not moreso.

>using the can't see the forest line
Bitch I don't think you understand the meaning

Didn't this comic writer write one comic that had old successful single women paying prostitutes to roleplay as babies and toddlers for them?

This artist/writer seems to be a fetish freak to the extreme.

I don't know about that particular scenario, but Beto has drawn plenty of porn, yeah. He's also a good storyteller though, if you like family drama and soap opera.

I'm not capeshitist, but all black-and-white comics look the same.

That was his brother Jaime, he does the Locas stuff but comparatively keeps the feitsh shit to a minimum.

More L&R you poor-taste fuckers.

Mostly moar Maggie because she makes my dick diamonds.

I really want to read Love & Rockets, but I can't figure out which collections to buy and what order I should be reading stuff in. Please spoonfeed me, I am horribly embarrassed to have not read this material because everything i've seen of it is fantastic.

>I'm not capeshitist
yeah sure, you're not a capeshitter and yet you don't know fucking Love & Rockets.

Jaime and Beto's stuff is two separate continuities, Jaime's "Locas" stuff deals with the SoCal punk/post punk scene and a group of friends involved in it as they grow older. Beto's "Luba/Palomar" stuff is centered around a central American community (some of whom end up moving to the US) and is more soap opera-ish. Both series' have elements of magical realism and there are related and unrelated side-stories.

The best place to start is the collected volumes with covers like pic related, Fantagraphics actually has a reading guide.

Venus is best daughterfu

It's just another medium to tell stories. Make it for whoever wants it.
Just don't be upset or shocked that nobody wants something that only appeals to yourself.

It depends on what that one particular book is about.

>it looks like the eltingville club
But it doesn’t.

If anyone tries to pull that irl they have some kind of genuine, actual autism. I can’t imagine a worse way to introduce someone to something you like.

Collectors and speculators with a lot of alternate variants. Also, I think the target shifted from kids to teenagers/young adults, with more diverse rosters and "adult" collections like DC Black Label. For cape comics, at least.

Is pic related actually grown-up Venus? I'm a bit out of the loop and can't find a source.

God bless Los Bros for making comics about titty monsters and thicc thighs not only acceptable, but cool to read.

maybe you need glasses

Jaime>Beto, prove me wrong.

Pro tip: you literally can't

Both write good stories. Jaime is the better artist, but Beto is funnier and draws better porn.

>floppies
Those suck. For capeshit I'm mainly getting 60s-80s stuff. I find em more fun. For indieshit, I mainly just read online

>why didn't people read these comics that didn't get printed in their country or language during their original release?
I respect duckshit but this always seems kind of myopic

Yes

This board proves it. :^)

Do you have any evidence to back up that latter claim?

Preferably in the form of links to said porn?

Yes. Kids comics are the fastest growing type of comic. The thing is it isn't Marvel or DC doing them, it's Scholastic

Look up this series. He's done some other one-shots as well I think.

Women are basically children with rights they shouldn't have

>Look at the girl face, don't know why
Scroll down see the guy

Get out of our L&R thread before you have a seizure, /pol/. These comics contain strong women, Mexicans, strong Mexican women, punks and lesbians.

In theory, they're for everyone. There are comics geared especially towards kids. The problem is that kids can't afford them.

They're targeting the store owners' pockets, first and foremost.

fucking gottem

BASED WWJ

>soccer champion
how do you become a soccer champion? geez

you win a soccer championship

This. Kids comics are doing fucking amazing. The future of the medium (at least in the west) is kids comics

You know that there's a massive indie market for kids in the US, right?
