I love how western animation got this bad and basically nobody questions it.
Carter Bailey

Why is everyone so against having proper dragons as good guys? With How to Train your Dragon and Pete's Dragon, they deliberately altered their dragon designs and behavior to be based strongly on mammals.
Luis Walker
They're fictional animals man. Mammals are inherently cuddly, reptiles are inherently alien
Adam Ward
Apparently it was supposed to be wolf-like. Really liked his voice. They apparently modelled his eyes off the VA Richard Boone.
Logan Collins
Dragons being good guys is like witches being cute and quirky. They were always subversions of the traditional idea and people like a good, proper evil beast for once. Making everything that's supposed to be evil and dangerous a friendly, harmless thing gets boring.
