What are your guys' favorite ways for the cybertronian war/autobot-decepticon war to begin?
Rebellion against an oppressive government that was twisted into a greater evil? The insidious rise of warmongers? Desperate war for dwindling resources?

In my continuity Im working on-and-off on, my general plan for a timeline is that after a few millennia of peace and prosperity after the unification of the city states, resources begun dwindling, notably energon. Anarchy soon sets in, and society is on the brink of total collapse. Eventually, things go from bad to worse to apocalyptic.
Energon is all but depleted on Cybertron and its moons, and many cybertronians, notably a growing faction of criminals and desperadoes called Decepticons begun hunting down Minicons and cannibalizing them for what little energon still runs through their circuits. What city-states havent closed themselves off in a desperate attempt to wall themselves away from the planet's problems have completely fallen into warlord anarchy.
Soon enough, what threads of the cybertronian government is left has to try and curtail the evergrowing horde of Decepticons, who have no set their sights on exploiting and destroying the universe to sate their need for energy and war. And we all know where this goes. Optimus Prime heeds the call, Megatron comes into command(and tries to turn cybertron into a death star), Autobots build the Ark to leave, ect ect.

All in all, Cybertron is a desolate wasteland of death, stalked by abhorrent science experiments performed by Shockwave. Basically, think of it as Chernobyl, Warlord Africa, and Mad Max mixed together and populated by starving robots.

My go to Autobot-Decepticon war is plebs vs the equivalent of the Roman empire (the Decepticons would be space Romans) but if i'm feeling particularly twisted I like the idea of a religious war. Cons exclusively worship Unicron and the Autobots worship both Primus and Unicron- they understand that balance is key. Both gods are equal and were once a single entity.

Well I envisioned the Autobots basically being moderate and the Decepticons essentially being a heretic sect that decided to worship Unicron exclusively, hence their love of anarchy and might makes right. But now that you mention it...Having a frustrated, templar, Bayverseesque Optimus would be anything but boring and having a pious Megatron would be interesting. Sweet characters like Bumblebee would just be good knights as opposed to saints or overzealous...Zealots.

Thankfully IDW has had a pretty good track record with those ascended fan artist.
Though I think almost anyone is way more dynamic than who they had for the entirety of the first two issues.

Its telling that the comic included in the DVD sets it up as a Bayverse prequel, even showing frozen Antarctic Megatron, forcing them to put out a statement that the comic is non-canon and Megatron just wasn’t at the battle in the opening because he was elsewhere on Cybertron at the time. The day the DVD released.

Basically, Bumblebee put all options on the table. So now they are in “We can’t fuck this up” mode, which is when studios fuse the riskiest and safest options together.

Its odd they are finishing the Bayverse while also making a new Beeverse and also a cartoon/comic/toyline of War For Cybertron unconnected to the old War For Cybertron continuity while also having two ongoing kids cartoon continuities and an ongoing Japanese meta continuity. With a short series just about all the females from all their IPs hanging out.

Just goes to show Hasbro is just throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. With any luck we'll see reboots of other IPs that don’t tie in to Transformers since that was such a mess last time.

They got themselves a nice thing right when things looked the direst. Please don't waste this chance. Think it carefully.

They are making them better. Better enough to be considered good? That's what I want.
What I mean is that they have the right idea with Cyberverse, especially since it's readily available on YouTube. The issue is that it looks cheap, but I think it works on concept alone.
I'm bracing myself for the trainwreck that War For Cybertron:Siege is going to be, from the looks of it is going to be Machinima all over again. And worse since they are dumping this on Netflix for everyone to see. Just think of all the goodwill Bumblebee brought just to squander it on a subpar show that is bound to disinterest viewers wanting to see more of Cybertron.

Yes. I was very excited during all of phase 1 but I didn't like that they took some liberties with Captain America and the Avengers movies. Iron Man 3 lowered my expectations due to the way they basically discarded AIM and my hype basically died down with Age of Ultron (plenty of wrong), though Ant-Man was brilliant. I still see all of the movies in theaters, but now I pray they don't dumb down the characters and concepts that much. Who knows, maybe this new Beeverse will be good after such a promising film.

What if we get a Rodimus movie? I mean, everyone knows the formula now. Standalones build to the setpiece.

Suppose the Optimus movie shows him go from Pax to Prime, then in the post-credit scene we see him pass the Matrix to Hot Rod so its safe while he participates in the first setpiece movie? Then as the first part of Transformers phase 2, we get Rodimus and Ultra Magnus?

Suppose we get a Decepticon-lead movie? Bludgeon and G2 cons?

For me he is Autobot City's chief of operations, I've always considered Prowl and Bumblebee as better rivals for Soundwave, let Blaster do his thing.

Great voice, you naturally think of him after Soundwave who is the best selling Transformer of all time, and the Japanese version was a working radio so you had that too.

Same here with Prowl being his Autobot rival/counterpart. Both are involved in intelligence and even though Starscream is 2nd in command I feel Prowl would be able to figure out that Starscream isn't actually that intelligent in terms of tactics, strategy, and espionage and that someone else must be doing that work for the cons- he'd figure it's Soundwave. It'd be a fun rivalry for sure.

If we are getting technical it would be only Beast Wars, though.

I blame the fact Blaster didn't get his cassettes till the year after he was introduced.

to be fair though the original mold that Blaster was based on didn't originally hold cassettes as it was a workable radio.

Soundwave got the better cassettes too even if we ignore Frenzy and Rumble. Laserbeak and Ravage can't be topped.

aside from Rewind, his cassettes never stood out like Soundwave's.

That and Blasters overall design isn't as cool. The ronald mcdonald red and yellow aren't cute. Maybe if he was like neon teal and yellow it would be more interesting but hell if I know.

And even then they had to turn Rewind gay for that, even though Eject maybe has the better color scheme.

The only cassests really everyone knows is Rewind and Eject. And that's mainly recently

IDW gave Rewind a fanbase, but in a continuity where Blaster betrayed him.

Otherwise, most people can’t even name one of them. Some people know he has a non-Dinobot dinosaur and that’s it.

The problem/necessity with the pre-war rando stories is that I want to establish relationships and background stuff without just telling you about the good times they had. Plinkett's Attack of the Clones review mentioned that, how you had to be told about Anakin/Obi-Wan's relationship and how that sucked.

I just got finished reading #1-4 of the new Transformers series. Honestly I didn’t know the series was even restarted until now. So far it’s been a nice slow read to get readers familiar with what’s going on in the series. I have to ask will we see Dinobots soon?

1-4 are kind of the climb up to the first peak of a rollercoaster - you can admire the view a bit. Next issue is balanced on the top, just tipping over, where things start to change! I'm sure dinobots will show up, but not real soon, desu.

Jesus Christ. That ship only works in fanon specifically because of how cruel they are towards one another in canon.
