So ignoring those shitty comics where she cucks him for no reason, was she a good love interest for Zuko in the show?

Yes. It's laughable that they would act like they weren't mean for each other.

Sure. Despite what certain shippers think, realistically she was the only one for him. Now personally I always thought she was whiny cunt who had like one cool moment when she betrayed Azula, but if you think about it that matches Zuko perfectly. Then the comics came along and dragged what little character she had though the mud. Goddamn why is everything after the original show hot fucking garbage? Except for that porn game.

This

This was done so the writers could push their Suki x Zuko ship. This is what happens when you let shipfags near your books.

Wait, she cucks Zuko?
I have not watched shit after the end of ATLA because i though Korra looked boring.

Disgusting shipfags.
>Except for that porn game.
Fire chapter, best chapter.

Nah

Attached: Zuki.png (611x512, 670K)

>this actually happened
Why is the post-TLA story so shit?

Attached: B68D36F8-77A1-4707-BB86-C95F5EAE0EB0.jpg (960x960, 43K)

No, she's probably the worst character of the show. And in terms of shipping even fucking Zoph and/or Zokka made more sense than this. I personally ship Zuko and Suki.

Attached: 6b3801f8ec93a08429d578ef41d5dead2c944301_hq.jpg (854x441, 58K)

Their introduction as a couple was pretty sudden, but they made it work over time.

This is fucked up. Zuko should really kill this dude.

Shipfags leave. They've never interacted enough to matter.

Tell me this doesn't somewhat remind you of how it was done in HIBY, except Aang was the one getting cucked in that one for the crackship to happen. BRYKE should be more protective of their IP. Or maybe they just moved on at this point and are like "fuck it."

>People only date people in their social circle no exceptions

Just in this shit comic

>Wait, she cucks Zuko?
Not exactly. She acts completely out of character and breaks up with Zuko over some retarded reason that I forgot. Then she gets a new boytoy and they constantly have PDA moments in front of Zuko only for it to be revealed that the new guy was just a rebound and she actually still loves Zuko all along and so she breaks up with the new guy. The current status between her and Zuko is unknown but I assume they'll get back together in some future comic. It' just all fucking retarded.

Book 2 and the Azula love route was kino. Can't wait until Book 4 starts later this month.

god i love this bitch's feet

Zuko x Mai
Sokka x Suki
The best most believable couples in this show

>most believable
Yes
>best
No.

Attached: Toph Sokka sitting.jpg (893x894, 112K)

Is it a really a coincidence that both couples got shit on post ATLA? The Mai and Zuko shit in the comics, the Suki and Zuko shit in the comics and then Suki disappearing form existence in LoK. I still find it ridiculous that Sokka and Suki didn't have any kids. Though it'll probably be revealed in some future comic that Suki cucked Sokka too since that seems to be all the rage by whoever is handling this IP now.

Who owns it anyway? Seems like a waste. ATLA feels like a miracle in some ways.

>later this month.
Really? Oh shit nigga.

no. they were terrible together. they had no chemistry, every single scene with them together is awkward and angry. they seem to not only hate each other but get along worse than any other two characters in the entire show.

I truly don't know what the fuck show everyone in this thread watched that has led you to believe that they are a good couple. base your opinions on what is present on the screen and not what is in your head and it's clear there is absolutely nothing between these two characters beyond a few angry scenes.

What a waste of time then. I am content with just the show if the everything else material will be just this.

>He doesn't like being angry and annoyed together with his significant other

Attached: 1550734241565.png (1125x940, 849K)

Daamn fuck they are ugly

They were the most realistic couple in the show and the only ones who didn't like themtogether were shipfags

Here you have Zuko being genuinely happy with his friends and guess who isn't around to sour the mood. This is after those comics with the Mai relationship drama so I assume he's still single. Compare that to how he is around Mai even in the show. There's no making her happy and she perfectly fine with dropping him and finding some new cock for the dumbest of reasons meanwhile she'd sperg out if Zuko so much as looked at another girl.

Attached: RCO075_1494410502.jpg (1067x1600, 480K)

She actually cucks him?

Zuko should have went old (season 1) Zuko and sluagterd her

In the comics. It's stupid.

I think it's pretty obvious that they get back together at some point. Just look at his daughter's face. That sharp face screams Mai. Unless of course they pull a Game of Thrones and "subvert our expectations".

Not literally, but like another user said she dumps him for some petty reason and then three seconds later has a new boyfriend that she has zero problem showing very public affection towards despite never doing so with Zuko. It's all pretty retarded. I'm just one of those people that sees ATLA as a standalone series and anything that came after I treat the same way that most people treated Dragon Ball GT before it was officially retconned for good.

Attached: Izumi.png (333x250, 98K)

No they break up. This is after they’re not together. So it’s not cucking

Wow, that's some seriously stupid bullshit?

Are these comics written by the same people as Star vs the Forces of Evil?

What porn game?

Four Elements Trainer.

For that pic to make anatomical sense, Mai's right leg needs to be half as long as the left leg.
That boy ain't right

Attached: PicsArt_05-06-03.38.57.png (1125x940, 844K)

Ah, thanks.

Absolutely not. She actually hurts Zuko's story tremendously.

Zuko's story is essentially the story of Moses, or, given the shows Asiatic roots, the Buddha. It is the story of a young man who has everything a person could want and who gives it up for the sake of justice / enlightenment.

When Zuko comes back to the Fire Nation, he gets all he ever wanted. But what did Zuko want? Well, he says what he wanted in Day of Black Sun - he never really cared about the power the throne of the Fire Nation represented - he wanted to be loved. Being loved is all Zuko ever really desired, it's what differentiates himself and Iroh from Azula and Ozai. Zuko will forgive his father and defend him after the man mutilates his face because of how deep his love is (see the scene in Crossroads of Destiny where he tells Katara she "doesn't know" what she's "talking about"). Iroh threw away a promising military career because his child was dead. Meanwhile, Azula tosses her friends aside in a moment of pure spite and tries to kill her brother. Ozai relished in his nephew's demise, capitalised on Iroh's PTSD, and destroyed what Zuko describes as a once happy family to consolidate control over those around him.

IIRC, it was originally Bryke and Aaron butting heads that got the best material out of the IP.

Enjoy it, upside down super Satan.

2

In order for Zuko's story to make sense, he needs to want the throne and all the superficial aspects adjacent to it, realise these things don't satisfy him on an emotional and philosophical level, and then leave.

And for the most part, that's what happens. Zuko in seasons 1 and 2 complains constantly about the indignities he - a prince! - must suffer on the road. He spits out food. He whines about having to work a honest job in a tea shop. He rejects Jin and Iroh's attempts to help him cultivate a relationship because, "I don't want a life here". He calls people peasant, namely Sokka and Katara.

Zuko also clings to the symbolic representations of his old life. He wears his hair in a princely ponytail despite the fact the rest of his hair has been burned off, for example. We see Zuko suffering from flashbacks where he and Azula walk on a cliffside with their father. Unable to move on, he draws comparison between Aang and Azula because they are people who frustrate him.
>this isn't to say Zuko's point isn't apt
>Aang, Azula, and Toph are the prodigies of the series
>Zuko, Katara, and Sokka are insanely hard workers with a bit of talent
>Zuko is right that Aang, like Azula, is prodigious and doesn't understand struggling through a stance like he does
>this is why Aang hurts Katara's feelings so deeply in the Waterbendimh scroll
>however my point isn't that Zuko's comparison isn't apt
>but that it is revealing that no matter where he is, S1 Zuko must filter all his pain and frustration through a lens of his father and sister
>it's like someone who always compares something to Hitler
>they could be right
>but still obsessed with the thing they're always making comparisons to

Cont'd

>in a princely ponytail despite the fact the rest of his hair has been burned off

It's a samurai topknot. Him and Iroh cutting theirs off is a symbolic Japanese thing for Samurai going ronin.

3

When Zuko goes home, he initially relishes in all the wonderful privileges of Princehood. Zuko, now much accustomed to tough travelling, pauses awkwardly before hopping in a palanquin to be taken across the street to Mai's house. He rejects most of his servants morning ablutions before finally settling on a hot towel. Zuko gets his stately hair back - instead of being bald or having a crew cut, he returns to a proper Fire Nation noble's hairstyle. And, of course, he gets to sit at daddy's side.
>they also specify which side which furthers the right / left symbolism inherent to Zuko's character

However, it's not enough. Zuko feels perpetually anxious to the point of paranoia. He's restless and unhappy. He throws a fit on Ember Island. He runs crying to Uncle's cell sobbing.
>"I thought that if my dad accepted me, I'd be happy. I'm back ... I should be happy now, but I'm not!"
For God's sake, it's Moses. He's Moses.
youtube.com/watch?v=ri4PcmWOS0Q
He's Siddhartha.
>"[Siddhartha] stood alone like a star in the heavens...That was the last shudder of his awakening, the last pains of birth. Immediately he moved on again and began to walk quickly and impatiently, no longer homewards, no longer to his father, no longer looking backwards."

So Zuko leaves. He finds the Gaang and throws away all pretentions of princeliness. He bows down before people he lambasted as peasants. He pulls his hair out of his princely topknot.
>and hair is significant to Zuko
>consider how emotional it was for himself and Iroh to cut their hair at the start of S1
Zuko puts aside anger and derives his firebending from a new source. He embraces peace and kindness. He serves tea happily to his new friends. He seperates himself physically, emotionally and aesthetically from his father.

>ronin
I honestly didn't know that! Thank you.

I always found her oddly attractive. Shame how they butchered her in the comics.

4

And in doing so, Zuko does the right thing, finds fulfillment, is enlightened ("I understand"), is redeemed, earns Uncle's forgiveness, and attains personal happiness.

So where does Mai fit into all this? Well, who is Mai?

Mai is a nobleman's daughter. Her family is clearly of immense status. They wer gifted the city of Omashu, live next door to the Royal Palace, she grew up playing with the Royal children and attended the same school as Azula. Mai is deeply bored with palace life and repeatedly says as much.

She lacks empathy for people, Fire Nation and foreign. Her concept of an amusing evening is sitting recumbent on her couch while her prince boyfriend screams at servants to fetch her ornately decorated fruit tarts. So charming is this idea to her that she eagerly suggests it to Zuko as a way to cheer him up when he's worried about not getting into the war room (you know, that thing his career and physical safety is dependent upon). Mai is the kind of rich brat so self absorbed and oblivious she legitimately sees nothing wrong with bossing poor people around for a laugh.

And if extends to the peasantry of the Earth Kingdom of which her father rules. The moment she sees Aang she leaps at the opportunity to hunt them down. This is before Azula's arrival. Unlike Ty Lee, a genuinely gentle hearted person, who must be coerced into combat under threat by Azula, Mai eagerly jumps at the chance to throw knives at Earth Benders.

She's also a whiny liar. Mai says that her parents gave her whatever she wanted, repressed her, and forced her to sit still and quiet throughout her childhood to maintain her father's career.

Attached: C3060502-7537-467A-BBD4-E634A56762B1.jpg (400x314, 32K)

5

Even if this was true - who cares? Oh no, in a world where Aang's entire culture was exterminated, where Sokka and Katara's mother was burned alive, where Fire Nation peasants are bullied into accepting environmentally destruction policies and banished on a whim, this girl is sad because she was asked not to mess with the breadwinner of the family's capacity to do his job? Are you kidding me? I would love to see A conversation between Mai, Katara, and Sokka about childhoods. "I'm sorry your dad ignored you, Mai, ours ignored us for five years to keep our family safe from your country's army and then he was sent to a hellhole ran by your uncle. But, you know, being asked to be quiet in one of the only countries in the world where women are institutionally equal to men must really suck. My sister was told to shut up too, but not for our dad's career where she at least stood to benefit, but because she's a woman."

But this isn't even true. If Mai was constantly told to sit down and shut up, then why does she not stop whining for a moment when they arrive in Omashu? Mai loudly proclaims how bored and frustrated she is while her mother very gingerly cajoles her. Her parents don't even seriously object to her running after Aang! Her father doesn't seem a bad man either, ignoring her while she sarcastically asks him about fire flakes while his business crumbles. Both her parents seem to genuinely love their children and fly into full blown hysterics to rescue Tomtom. When he is returned, they hug their son and each other. Then, under Azula's request, they let Mai go off to fight in a war without so much as the slightest objection. In every scene involving Mai's parents, they seem to be nice people. We never see them yell at Mai or ask her to shut up. And these are the oppressive parents that destroyed Mai's self expression?

6

Compared to other parents in the series, Mai's parents seem like candy. Toph's parents certainly would not stand by and let their noble daughter chase down a criminal! They hunted Toph across the country! In the Fire Nation, parents seem to be pretty severe. Ozai is an obvious and hideous example, but he's far from the only one. Yon Ras's mother screams at him and berates his garden. When presenting as Wang and Sapphire Fire, Sokka threatens to give Aang the "punishment of a lifetime" and "straighten this boy out something fierce". This is received positivel by the school principal, which suggests that in the Fire Nation, severe and perhaps corporal punishment is commonplace within families.

So in a world where parents cloister their blind daighters away and refuse to let her fight despite being an amazing earth bender, where Fire Nation parents regularily beat and scream at their children... Mai is hurt because she was asked to be quiet? Something we never even see her parents do and seems to actively contradict with their shocking liberality? Really? Or maybe Mai is just a liar throwing a tantrum and complaining about mummy and daddy because she's a spoiled teenaged girl surrounded by teenagers with actual reasons to be mean spirited jerks and she didn't want to feel left out.
>and Zuko
>poor Zuko
>a child literally branded by his father publicly

those pics will be nice additions to my collection but seriously kys with your retarded bullshit

We all know Azula was basically tailor made for Zuko. If they weren't siblings they'd be the most popular ship in all of ATLA. Hell even though they are siblings they're still one of the more popular ships.

Toph x Zuko has chemistry

>Maiko fags SEETHING

yeah, sure.

>why are people discussing comics and cartoons on Yea Forums???

And yet she still turn around and sacrifice everything to allow Zuko to do what he thinks is just. Not to be with her, not to do something she would approve of, but to do what HE thinks is just.
How do you reconcile that with what you're saying? Just blind love?

Even after her mental breakdown she still looks out for Zuzu. She shit on Mai on her new fucktoy while chastising her for breaking up with Zuko for some random pleb while also shitting on Zuko for being a cuck. She was literally the only redeeming thing in this garbage pile of a story.

Attached: RCO051_1468932733.jpg (1067x1600, 491K)

>she cucks him for no reason
she doesnt cuck him
they break up for some retarded reason and then she tryies to make him jealous by finding another boyfriend but Zuzu is too preoccupied with his honour and his crycyr sister ( who ironically enough is the only person that wants him to become stronger and a better man )

> was she a good love interest for Zuko in the show?
no - she was literally there to fill up space and make Azula seem less lonely at the first glance
Mai and Ty Lee should have been one person and then maybe you would have some points here but as it stands she was a self centered and devoided of empathy spoiled princess that couldn't give less of a fuck
and again it's Azula to pay more interests to Zuko and his overla state then Mai

not to mention that Zuko and Azula clearly have the most sexual tension between them on top of strong emotional bonds that pull them together

>And yet she still turn around and sacrifice everything to allow Zuko
in overall context it seemed more like a middle finger to Azula than anything else
to sum it all up Azula is the best one for Zuko both in context of the show and with further story progression in mind

Attached: cute and pure.jpg (480x480, 34K)

Discussion would be posting arguments in a reasonable format, not spending close to an hour typing your manifeston on how much you hate a fictional character.

You're clearly not looking for an actual discussion and I don't care enough to read through your ravings.

>And yet she still turn around and sacrifice everything to allow Zuko to do what he thinks is just. Not to be with her, not to do something she would approve of, but to do what HE thinks is just
You'd have a point if the comics didn't exist and were canon where this scenario happens again and the first thing she does is drop him for a new cock.

Or I could keep discussing comics and cartoons on a board called comics and cartoons and you could, I don't know, ignore me?

7

After Zuko's redemption, Mai still doesn't get it. Zuko has thrown his life away, and all she can think about is her breakup and how it makes her feel. Zuko tries repeatedly to explain, but she cuts him off, screams, and throws a scroll at him. She has absolutely no concept of the world at large. This is a character who never rejects Fire Nation imperialism, and yet we're just supposed to accept her as the endgame girlfriend for a character who sacrificed everything to end Fire Nation imperialism.

>but what about her sacrifice
What of it? She took a risk to help Zuko, not the world. That's a step tkwards redemption, but caring about your boyfriend isn't the same as caring about the world. Besides, Mai herself said that she would Azula's lightning rather than deal with sewage. She disobeyed a direct order from Azula in S2, and now suddenly she's this great maverick? For standing up to someone she already stood up to and said she wasn't scared of? Please.

As a character, Mai is clearly alligned with the type of selfish, oblivious and privileged class of Fire Nation nobles destroying the world. If Zuko's relationship with Mai was consistent with any other aspect his redemption, then he would have realised this about her and stayed broken up. They never would have gotten back together. Thematically, structurally, literarily symbolically, Maiko makes no sense, and Zuko's character suffers as a result.

End

>hate a fictional character
Did you even read it? They clearly like Zuko a lot and care about the text. Brainless like you who think every fucking post that isn’t waifufaggotry or a meme is blog posting are killing this board. Get fucked.

Ain't healthy either.

Good analysis, user. I have to agree when you lay it out like that. Who would you consider to be the better match?

Regardless of how shit they are, the series is still going through the comics. Why does it bother you so much that people are discussing it?

all right anons we all know that there is only one future for Zuko and it ain't with Mai

Attached: night on fire.png (1280x1280, 935K)

Weird how zuko seems to be the center of the largest amount of shipping autism I've ever seen. Like, in show it was mai and that earth kingdom girl that existed for like two episodes and was never mentioned again, that's it.

Also weird for the retarded amount of ships people had for him, pretty much none of them were gay. Zuko/toph was more popular then any gay ship for zuko.

I hope you have a sister, and then one day she finds out how desperate you are for this brother and sister to have sex.

Girls liked him because he's a troubled soul in need of caring/fixing, edgy teenage boys thaought he was cool and badass just like them.

Based and incestpilled.

Just because you fap to or support fictional incest doesn't mean you want to do it irl. If that was the case Japan would be full of inbreeding and Yea Forums would be infinitely more retarded than they already are.

Attached: EI8DevK.jpg (908x1318, 102K)

She was almost redeemed. She said she wasn't scared of Azula in S2, but assuming she was lying (again), let's say she did make a sacrifice for Zuko. So what? She still doesn't understand Zuko's core motivation and principles. He wants to remake the Fire Nation and she doesn't understand that. How can you be with someone who literally has ethical principles you can't comprehend? How can you love them? That's like fighting in Siciliy in WW2 and the your best girl being like, "Axis dindu nuffin but I'm glad you're okay".

Now, Iroh's character started with a sacrifice for a single person he loved. However, Iroh also had to grow a greater sense of awareness for the world. He had to travel, learn from other types of bending, and then join an organizaion ezpressly dedicated to stopping the Fire Nation before his redemption was complete.

And I thought Mai hated palace life? That's what she should have done. Gone out into the world, figured out what she's about, and then come back. Then her and Zuko could connect on a deeper level and their relationship would so much better.

Maiko could have been less bad. Mai could have been a modern analogue to Iroh if the writers were careful. She could have been an amazing character. But then Zuko would have been single at the end.

>healthy
I'm just having fun thinking anout stories because it makes my own writing better. Why are you making it personal?

>better match
I honestly felt Zuko should have stayed single at the end. He's seventeen! Let the kid breathe!

Thank you, by the way.

the incest makes it spicier but Zuko and Azula simply mach character wise

they might have been a pair of orphan child soldiers forcibly recruited into fire nation's uber-soldier program for fire benders and it would work just as good

Attached: comfy zucest hug.jpg (797x1004, 55K)

mai was extremely based if only for the amount of screaming zutara fans she pissed off.

>”I’ll send him a snarky anime gif. That’ll show him!”

>No moment when Azula goes to Iroh to gloat how she brought Zuko over to her side and Iroh tells her that the reason she cares so much is because she needs Zuko not the other way around.
>"And who always loved you despite knowing exactly what you are?"
>"The girl whose own mother called her a monster."
>"The princess whose lord only considered her a tool."
>"When did you realize how much it began to hurt after he was gone?"

>Yes. It's laughable that they would act like they weren't mean for each other.
The ironic part is that she was literally just MADE TO BE Zuko's love interest, which is what perjudicated her more as a character than anything else.
Then again at the start Zuko was going to be just flat villain number one and it's pretty much a miracle that didn't happen. And miracles don't tend to happen more than once.
Also obligatory wanananana

Attached: Wanananana.jpg (800x997, 130K)

>in overall context it seemed more like a middle finger to Azula than anything else
Really? I didn't get that at all.
To me it seems that precisely because she was shallow nothing really mattered to her, she was just passing time. But when Zuko turn around and manifest true conviction, she can't help to be shaken by that. Her rationality made her reject it as absurd, but she is still shaken by it. She caught a glimpse of something bigger and more meaningful than her empty life, and while she doesn't allow herself to embrace it herself she ultimately decided to allow it. She doesn't care, but others do.

Of course it was just one moment and it doesn't make her a perfect companion for Zuko just for that, but at least for that one moment she wasn't that shallow.

does anyone have that free comic day comic where she rescues her brother?

> I still find it ridiculous that Sokka and Suki didn't have any kids.
not everyone wants to have kids. even in the show, characters such as piando and bumi didn't have any kids. sokka would have been a great fun uncle though

This is tasty meta. I never liked Mai after The Beach, either. The scene with the shell always made me mad because if a man did that to his girlfriend in a cartoon it’d be abuse.

>literally didn’t even get the point of the posts here
>stop having fun

>zuko is secretly seeing ozai for ruling advice because he was just thrust into the position of fire lord and has zero political know how
>mai finds out and gets super mad not about him seeing ozai but about him keeping a secret
>she throws a fit and breaks up with him
>some shenanigans happen and she ends up getting a new boyfriend who happens to be part of these shenanigans
>he's generally a nice guy but has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to dealing with Zuko and constantly shows off that mai is his
>even aang is scratching his head at how awkward the situation is
>shit happens
>in the end it's revealed that mai still loves zuko and breaks up with the new guy since she never really loved him even though he genuinely loved her
That's pretty much a quick rundown. And yeah it's as retarded as it sounds. End the end it was just Mai throwing a temper tantrum and using some guy to get back at Zuko.

Why is she so openly affectionate with this dude? She was never like this with Zuko and she generally hated all the lovey dovey stuff. Did they change her personality in these comics or something?

>The current status between her and Zuko is unknown but I assume they'll get back together in some future comic. It' just all fucking retarded.
This is what everyone expected but now the original gook+nips team behind the comics is gone, so who knows what the new woman in charge will do about this shit.
Also patrician taste.

>she'll do things for chad she'd never do for you
/r9k/ was right

i think if sokka had kids we would have met them by now. that or they're really boring, like earth kingdom version of accountants

mai immediately saying 'i'm sorry' with her hand over her mouth like she's ty lee gives me hives.

Because he existed for the sole purpose of being Mai's temporary love interest while humiliating Zuko. Gotta milk that teenage relationship drama shit that the modern fanbase loves.

Attached: RCO035_1468927258.jpg (1067x1600, 411K)

>I honestly felt Zuko should have stayed single at the end. He's seventeen! Let the kid breathe!
Zuko stopped being a child when his father burned his face and ppl who buy into this mentality of waiting until they are like 30 to get into a serious relationship are missing out on really great times

so I see nothing worng with Zuko ending up with a girl and happy ever after

>Of course it was just one moment and it doesn't make her a perfect companion for Zuko just for that, but at least for that one moment she wasn't that shallow.
that's why I believe that it was an act of rebellion against Azula (who was not only a physical manifestation of an Idea based social hierarchy but by her mear presence degreded Mai from her spot of spoiled princess) on the same level as "mom I don't care about the rules and it's not just a phase!" and Zuko was just an excuse
in this regard Mai is very similar to my ex classmate from way back when

>Did they change her personality in these comics or something?
basically:
>amazing story: women loses 140 pounds after she breaks with her husband because he was working too hard - and here's why that's a good thing!
cancer is not a word strong enough

if they wanted a chad to cuck zuko with, why not an established character like haru

the point was to empower Mai and not some toxic dudebro

Haru is too based for a cunt like Mai.

I actually really like this idea. At risk of being "that user" again:

>Water tribe sibling family reunion
>Tenzin is coaxed into explaining the events of Korra
>Kya and Bumi begin to elaborately and extensively describe Kuvira's giant robots, the dark avatar, Korra losing her bending, the red lotus, the relationship drama all with theatrical acting and hammy narration
>Sokka and Suki's son takes off his glasses
>"Well, it was career day at my daughter's school and I talked about being an actuary."

>loves
No. No we don't.

I mean, yeah, you're right, but my perspective on shipping is this: Unless a relationship adds to the story, or is super cute / funny, don't even bother. I spent seven posts talking about how Maiko undermines Zuko's character arc. And besides Mai, there isn't really a female character for Zuko to end up with. although the comics made me like Zuki

Or you could keep Haru away from her.

her left leg is bent up notice the resting arms

>empower Mai
She literally admits that she doesn't even like the guy and is just using him because she's emotionally needy and because he's always there at her beck and call. Real "empowering".

She didn't have much character in the show, but what little she did have the retarded writer straight up trashed in this comic.

did someone from gwenpoole make this comic?

this unironically made me ship Zuko with Azula

>She literally admits that she doesn't even like the guy and is just using him because she's emotionally needy and because he's always there at her beck and call. Real "empowering".
she tells the guy she broke up with for retarded reason that it's all his foult and then rubs in his face the fact that she always has beta orbiters to fallback to
the entire comics is Mai is basically:it's all your fault becouse you didn't give me enough attention now watch what I let that other guy do to me that you never did doesn't make you feel bad?

i don't consider the comic books canon cause...they garbage

>They made the fucking movie.
No they didn't, that's squarely on Nickelodeon. Bryke tried to give some advice and have some direction, were rebuffed, shrugged and left.

He's upside down. So now he's Bruce, The AUSTRALIAN.

Attached: 1553051953138.jpg (1000x563, 52K)

Then the left feet should be noticeably smaller. Try that pose yourself, and note that the right leg goes outwards to meet Ty's, not inwards to achieve parity in reach with the left feet.

I would like to do the same with Legend of Korra, but one has to acknowledge when things start going to shit.

Digits worthy of a royal pairing.

This is the literal definition of that "seething" meme.

Rebound fucking to assert dominance. It's all so tiresome.

I only consider something canon to another if it's made by the same creator(s) and in the same medium.
So the ATLA comics aren't canon but Korra is.

There, not hard.

Tried watching Korra but dropped. Is Spirit stuff in Korra any good? Would pick up again just for that.

Actually yes, he would have had zero problems if he just fucked Ty Lee instead angsty cunt.

Attached: nhGWIVH.png (720x547, 510K)

No, its really bad.
I pretend that korra isnt canon

S2 is regarded as the worst and for good reason. First half is the worst, Korra's behavior is baffling, civil war plotline is a mess, the relationship drama is awful and there's several subplots that don't really go anywhere or have much to do with anything. Beginnings is pretty good and the season picks up after that with several plotlines dropped and the writing getting more focused as a result, the first half of the finale is genuinely fun and exciting but it completely shits the bed after the main villains fuse, the second half of the S2 finale is terrible.
The last two seasons are actually good with S3 being mostly fantastic, go watch that if you want something good.

A cheerful gal for moody prince

>The last two seasons are actually good with S3 being mostly fantastic, go watch that if you want something good.
Good lord no. S3 is the best season but it still pretty bad, and season 4 is just a mess altogether.

Attached: teno.gif (498x325, 3.35M)

Nah, S4 is mostly hampered by poor pacing but is otherwise solid and S3 has little bad going for it, maybe the RL would've liked more screentime but I feel they did a good job with having Ming-hua and Ghuzan's personalities come out through their fighting styles.

>Beginnings is pretty good
KYS

Attached: 1546551557129.jpg (500x362, 29K)

Fucking Ty Lee is like fucking all of her genetically identical sisters. It's pretty awesome. Like having a proxy harem.

S3 and S4 had better villains.
That's about it, the better villains caused it to be more interesting.
S2's villian is really bad, Amon is the best villian. (Well... Until the end.)

It is, I liked Wan's journey a lot.
>inb4 lion turtles
>inb4 muh demystification
fuck off, Beginnings had some problems but it wasn't any of those.
Every character in the cast was more enjoyable and interesting in S3 and 4 then the other two, the writing was more on point and we finally got back to globe-trotting and adventures. The villains and the conflicts they brought being good also helped.

I seem to get the impression that people are triggered by the bad writing and not Mai in particular. Actually the people who seem to dislike this comic the most are fans of Mai and are seething because they took a shit on her character for the sake of cheap drama.

>Zuko releases the guy as its not worth the trouble
>This asshat thinks he can immediately talk shit to the leader of his nation who JUST freed him

Zuko should have just gone "Y'know what? Changed my mind. General, lock him up" to scare the ungrateful prick.

Attached: Unamused.png (476x372, 242K)

I would have let Azula finish the faggot off.

Zuko decrees: "Throw him to Azula!"

>Let me just ignore some big ass things.
Okay, but the whole thing is retarded.
The entire retelling and retconning fucks the universe pretty hard.
Also, the Chu's did nothing wrong.
>The cast was more enjoyable
In a sense, mainly because they were not in shipping crap as much.
>Writing more on point
Eh, I guess so.
Except S4, Mainly near the end.
BIG ROBOT BATTLE WITH LESBIANS pretty much encapsulates the final episodes.
>Adventures
True, it makes the world much more open and is a nice escape from the other seasons.
>The villains
Zaheer is not bad.
Kuvira started good, but ended shitty.

Azula was literally going to kill him in one instance but Zuko stopped her. Someone even posted the page in this thread. He's gone full Cucklord.

I remember that, Cucklord indeed.

Beginnings is so shit it retroactively ruins ATLA.
There is also no point in watching S3 and S4 after the death of the past lives, which completely defeats the purpose of Avatar and degrades the show to very mediocre capeshit. Which honestly applies to S1 and S2 anyway because she contacts her past lives once to teach her energy bending in the last minute of the finale because she cried about it.

The next avatar will fix everything.
AVATAR: THE LAST REDPILL
And or Sozin did nothing wrong.

Does she pretty much kill the spirits of the past avatars by doing this?

I kinda liked the giant robot battle at the end. It's not like ATLA didn't establish that spirit-gundam asspulls are totally possible.

She just severs the connection. I'd assume they are still in the spirit world.

Attached: spirit-kaiju.jpg (865x648, 285K)

I tried not to laugh, but I did.
Nice user.

Attached: WkLM.gif (430x215, 1.86M)

It'd be genuinely interesting if the next Avatar turned out to be a fucking lunatic. If you think about it, the next Avatar only has some dumb boorish dyke who did nothing but constantly fuck up in her own life as their spiritual guide.

But we can explain that away with the lore, Asspulling a giant Mecha from nowhere to end the show quickly is a really bad asspull. (And nowhere as cool)
Just because the original did it to a degree, doesn't mean Korra can do it twice as bad.

I dunno, Korra committing Spirit Genocide is a funny idea.

It could be /our/avatar. (The finale can be called BLACKPILL)

Besides that, I think the next avatar becoming some sort of Nazi of some sorts getting redpilled by a Fire nation Cartoon board could be interesting. (He loves the fire nation... Though he is a Earth bender.)
And he goes on a crusade to put things in their 'place'.

That version I came up with might fit those lines.
He got a little blackpilled.

Also, AVATAR: THE LAST ANCAP.
And or, get the hell off me property.

>The entire retelling and retconning fucks the universe pretty hard.
Lion turtles are not a retcon and fit well into the story. All Beginnings did was specify that bending referred to the martial art (and still does in some ways, even in ATLA bending was referred to specifically as a martial art instead of the ability as a whole) but it became much more closely tied to the power over the millenias as it was refined.
Similarly, there is nothing less mystical about spirits then there was during ATLA. The only reason it seems demystified is because we barely knew anything about them in ATLA, they were mostly backdrops or plot devices that provided some context for the world. Korra went a little more in depth but didn't really explain anything about how it worked, which is key in demystification.
>BIG ROBOT BATTLE WITH LESBIANS pretty much encapsulates the final episodes.
While I also didn't really like that they went for just a big robot at the end of it all, at the very least it had some grounding in the story, being based off of the smaller mechs and made out of Zaofu's domes, and having the whole crew work together to take it down was good for a finale battle. Korra vs Kuvira in the cockpit of the robot was particularly great.
I also don't get why everyone's so obsessed about the korrasami ending, it had no impact or influence on the story before it and took up all of fifteen seconds. It's completely inconsequential and is only a big deal because everyone makes it out to be one instead of actually being one.
>which completely defeats the purpose of Avatar
The purpose of the Avatar is to be the divine arbiter of the world, master of the four elements who is both man and spirit and therefore a bridge between both, which is still what Korra is and what every other Avatar was. The Avatar isn't solely defined by their past lives.

>I also don't get why everyone's so obsessed about the korrasami ending, it had no impact or influence on the story before it and took up all of fifteen seconds. It's completely inconsequential and is only a big deal because everyone makes it out to be one instead of actually being one.
Because it was nothing but shameless pandering to a vocal minority. Tell me what was the purpose of making Korra Bisexual at the last seconds of the series. There was zero hints about it in all three previous seasons but then they saw that people are shitting on them and decided to pander to a vocal bunch of dipshits.

It was also a cheap way to avoid criticism which they did by making a post and having the nerve to call anyone who had a problem with the ending homophobic. I don't have a problem with lesbians, bisexuals or whatever, I have a problem with the trend of just shoehorning in these types of endings to please the rabid legion of whales on Tumblr.

>Lion Turtles
They were shit in the original, and barely tolerable.
They also took away any interest in the background of bending,
>Lol, here's your bending.
That's about the end of that.
>Sprits
The way they interact with the world was what made them intersting back in Avatar.
It's the opposite for me in Korra.

>Grounding in the story.
Barely, it also is retarded in terms of strategy.
And that cannon? It would have actually been a better weapon on the rail system like the gun it was based off in real life.
>Kuvira commanding it was great
I would have preferred her to actually take a leaders role. Not go willy nilly into combat.
>Korrasami
It was horrible. It started a shit trend.
And I didn't need forced fan crap at the end to spit salt in my eye.

>I don't have a problem with lesbians, bisexuals or whatever
This isn't plebbit. Just say it as it is. They are gross and no normal person wanted it in Korra or anything else.

This. It was nothing but virtue signaling to the overzealous faggots who do nothing but cry about "muh representation". Worse is that it started some shitty trend of making established female characters dykes right when a show is about to end so they can cash in on those brownie points while touting how progressive they are.

It's not even gay that's the problem but how it was just thrown in.

Yep, It felt like some last desperate attempt to stay relevant after death.
It has caused this trend, Voltron is a recent example.

>It's not even gay that's the problem
Nope, it's a problem. A big one.
>Just threw in
Very true on this though.

I felt that they did it so they could get the Shipperfag audience rather then being shippers themselves. Still kinda retarded though.

The Gook who wrote the comics is now gone and theres some woman in his place. Now is a matter of seeing if she also is baiting shipfags into reading or if shes a shipfag herself.

>divine arbiter of the world
Good luck doing that without the past lives. The connections to the four nations, and to their people/culture, was extremely important in ATLA's writing. Aside from getting some cool scenes out of it, they use the past lives (especially Roku) to set up and detail the entire overarching plot.

I am not trying to argue semantics on the Avatar's purpose, I am saying that you cannot remove the past lives and still retain the essence of Avatar. It is impossible to do it for ATLA without a lot of shit not making sense, but the Legend of Korra succeeds and is essentially bad capeshit about a dumb girl with elemental super powers.

Korra has no ancient wisdom, or reason for anyone to think she holds the interests of all the nations in mind.
You could validly suggest that the presence of Raava as the spirit of peace replaces trust in the past lives, except no one seemed to know the spirit existed and also she doesn't fucking show up once for the remaining two seasons of the show.

Even as the writers admit S2 was a mistake, they only exasperate the failure by up-heaving all that fucking bullshit to create Raava, and then ignoring her.
All that asshurt - whether you share in it or not - to do fucking nothing with the character.

>and also she doesn't fucking show up once for the remaining two seasons of the show.
She does in S4 after Zaheer leads her into the spirit world.

I don't even think is was because "shipping" I think they just wanted "drama". Like, oh, will zuko and mai's relationship survive? Find out next time on as the avatar world turns.

Oh shit I completely forgot about that, I just remembered Korra saying she missed her. Raava got a superimpose and three lines. I'd check to see if she shows up in the remaining 4 episodes, but I'd have to watch them.

>I am saying that you cannot remove the past lives and still retain the essence of Avatar.
>Korra has no ancient wisdom, or reason for anyone to think she holds the interests of all the nations in mind.
I can see where you're coming from but I can't entirely agree. In particular, for the second point, even though she lost the past lives Korra still traveled around the world to convince new airbenders to become Nomads, she still tried to maintain the stability of the world as well as she could. Yes, the accumulated knowledge is gone and that does detract somewhat but not to the point that the Avatar loses legitimacy, hell it's one of the points in Korra's struggle that she rises to the mantle despite the loss.

So the four elements game, what is better slave route or love route?

Love route for books 2 and 3. Book 1 is essentially the barebones framework of the game and the routes are interchangeable. Personally I'd just skip it and go right to book 2.

Thanks but I'm going to experience everything. Going slave for book 1 and then love for 2 and 3

Slave route gets you faster to sex and is all about domination, one would think thats the one with the best scenes but in reality love route is the one that always has more content since the game caters to waifufags like me.
Still I recommend always starting with slave route since it tends to be less heavy in text, then playing love route for subsequent playthroughs. It also makes it sweeter when you romance the bitches you've already broken and humiliated.

A reminder NTR is unforgivable.

mai looks cute in green

what is that?

At the very least he should have gotten a quick lesson on the nature of mercy and how throwing it back in the face of the guy who just let you off is a bad idea.

>but I assume they'll get back together in some future comic
Very likely. I wish, just once, that the writers would have the balls to make Zuko tell her to GTFO and move on. After all, we know from Korra that Zuko, Toph, and Ang/Katara are the only ones who had children that are so much as mentioned. For all we know Zuko did get with someone else. I don't think Mai is ever namedropped. You don't get back together with your exs. It's just 'living a happy life' 101.

Wasn't that Sokkas bitch? They cucked him as well?

Who do we bang in book 4?

At this point it would be preferable

>You don't get back together with your exs. It's just 'living a happy life' 101.
preach it brother!

besides Azula is better in every way

He's the closest thing the avatar universe has to a white guy

it was a show not aimed at LGBBQWERTYC++ folk but at the wide audience so average ppl and average ppl are only 1% gay

Obviously Korra and Asami. Don't know who the other girls will be.

Jinora obv

Part of the worst Avatar comic, which is just an anthology of mini stories that supposedly happened between episodes and have generally both bad writing and bad art.

She still is, comic writer just had far too many consecutive moments of her worrying about him being a lonely fuck.

Not in my headcanon.

Speaking of Suki did they ever say what happened to her?

Attached: old-team-avatar.jpg (960x626, 137K)

She isn't mentioned at all in LoK and appears only once in the opening of the first episode.

People can just talk to the leader of their nation this way now?
Defeating Ozai was a mistake.

Mai route was better, fite me

No. Pretty much everyone from TLA is forgotten.

If Suki wasn't already a thing with Sokka she'd make a good partner for Zuko so in that respect I kind of understand the shipperfag writer of this comic.

Not allowing Azula to take the throne was a mistake.

azula would have ruined everything in under ten minutes

Yet still do it better then Zuko would.

Those characters never interacted with each other in the show at all. What are they smoking?

Korra is non canon so who cares

>What are they smoking?
The ones who did them were chinks, so opium.

most of the comics are self indulgent garbage

Women ain't nothin but hos and tricks.

but trashing the fire nation should not be a point here
Zuko would be a better ruler over all even with his flaws
ofc if they would decide to rule together that would be optimal

>where she cucks him for no reason
Did she cheat on him and get pregnant
>Yes
Cuck
>No
Not cuck

>It is the story of a young man who has everything a person could want and who gives it up for the sake of justice / enlightenment.

Fucking LOL! You are an idiot.
> A young man scorned by his father, lashing out at the word because he's desperate for love
> has everything a person could want

Men should just get over cucking and realize the females in their life, including ones they have a romantic bond with, are going to cheat. Stop acting like it's unnatural or immoral. It's life. Men should just accept it and stop being babies about it.

t.cuck

I don't get the obsession to be honest. A cuck is someone that raises another man's child as his without knowing it's not his. A break up followed by a relation ship with someone else, not even a little bit.

Buzzwords aside, if your gf breaks up with you for a petty reason and then three seconds later has a rebound that she got for the sole purpose of rubbing it in your face, that's probably not a girl you want to get back together with. A smart writer would keep them broken up and have both of them move on. But smart writers and the Avatar franchise are like water and oil.

>teenagers doing teenager shit
WOW

Attached: 1286051400523.jpg (720x480, 44K)

Did you read the comics? Them being teenagers doesn't excuse bad writing and forced drama you absolute fucking retard.

a smart writer wouldn't torch canon because some previous writer was a waste of air

What canon? Nowhere is it confirmed that Mai and Zuko end up together for good. Just like there's no canon for Azula's fate or Suki's fate.

Teenagers are fucking stupid and shallow.

It is not unknown that TLA being as good as it was was in itself a miracle that came out of the writers butting heads.

their daughter has her mother's face, expression range, don't be a contrarian

We all know the mother is gonna end up being Mai, what we don't why they just didn't say it? What was the purpose of not saying it in Korra and the dumb break up in the comics? Cheap fucking drama?

Cartoons run on cheap drama these days

Something that always bothered me. Given how characters pronounce her name in the show, shouldn't it be spelled Mei?

I fucking hate it man why can't cartoons be good like they used to?

like they used to?
They didn't use to, there were just fewer cartoons in general and that made the good ones look like the majority when in fact they weren't. Today's saturation just makes things more apparent and shows how rare good shows actually are.

>Life will be easier for everybody.
What a fucking cunt. He just got saved because Zuko was the bigger man and he immediately thinks he can speak like that to him?
At least have the guards dump him into a trough or something for shit talking.

Yeah, and when Zuko came home, he had that - "my dad talks to me".

Siddhartha's dad wasn't abusive, which changes the meaning of the story. S didn't leave because he was looking for love or self-identity, he was looking for a peace that entropy couldn't destroy.

Then you are an idiot. Bryke supervise the Avatar comics in multiple stages. Here is a quote from an interview with Gene Yang:

Are Mike and Bryan’s ‘hands on the pen,’ so to speak, along with you as you write the comics?

I feel like we’ve found a good balance. Every book begins with a conversation between me and Mike and/or Bryan. We talk through possible themes, possible character arcs, possible plots. If something goes against the Avatar-verse timeline between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, they tell me.

After that, I do an outline. I get feedback from Mike, Bryan, the folks at Nickelodeon, and the folks at Dark Horse. That goes through several drafts.

Then I write the scripts. Again, I get feedback from Mike, Bryan, the folks at Nickelodeon, and the folks at Dark Horse. Like the outline, the scripts go through several drafts.

So the AtLA comics are as canon as it gets. Otherwise their names wouldnt be on the front cover.

As for the OP, Mai always had a dysfunctional relationship with Zuko. It was either badly written or she is just legit bad at this shit. This trend merely continued in the comics. Here is a decent breakdown of how problem ridden their relationship is.

aaaand into the trash it goes

That IS trash. It's a decent take after all, not a perfect one. But the cornerstones of the analysis, not her emotion reactions about it, are all sound. And the conclusion is very sound as well.

I skimmed through the thread so i have no idea. It's unlikely it's the same. I also dont care what you do about it, what I care is more people understanding that the way Maiko is written, by anyone, sucks ass.

>the way Maiko is written, by anyone, sucks ass.
I mean it's a relationship that stems from a character being made to be Zuko's girlfriend, it's a miracle that she is as cool as she is considered they wrote her flat as a plain.

Yes, but in epic fantasies where they save the world, they're not supposed to be. It's not convincing if they're whiny brats one scene and revolutionary heroes the next, unless you make a satanic pact like Takeuchi.

>How can you be with someone who literally has ethical principles you can't comprehend?
Zuko himself didn't comprehend basic gratitude until a season ago, he's not going to go around judging others now.

>madamebomb.tumblr.com/post/135561159651/we-need-to-talk-about-maiko
this is amazing how she can both identify how Mai's behaviour undermined their relationship and then blame it all on Zuko
this is unironically baffling

It's a tumblr post and an old one at that, did you expect anything else?

I know, but I often read about how they are perfect from each other, how good it is they hooked up again, etc. Listen, I dont care if you are pro or against Maiko but at least take off the pink glasses and admit that it's against the basics of sensible writing for them to have a relationship as depicted. If anything if you want them to be together you should be demanding it be written in a functional, healthy manner.

bryke don't get to decide what's canon. they have proved they can't be trusted with their own franchise

The Maiko fans even email the writers (Bryke, Yang) demanding they put them together, in large numbers. And then we wonder how the f we get such shitty writing.

You are either an idiot or a troll. Because if the creators dont get to decide then the term canon loses meaning, since what's left is fanfiction and headcanons which are as numerous as fans.

I mean yeah I ve heard of tumblr but to see it in real life is mind blowing

if large numbers counted for shit, the series would have ended with a zutara wedding

I'm going to be completely honest with you guys: I hate pretty much every relationship in ATLA. Maiko is either dull or annoying, and both Mai and Zuko seem to bring out the worst in each other, not the best. Meanwhile, I didn't feel any chemistry at all between Aang and Katara. This is a problem for all the pairings, but it's especially bad when it even happens in the main pairing. They have no romantic moments, no moments where you really *feel* like they're in love. They just feel like they've been shoved together and have said they're in love with each other because the plot demands it. Sukka is similar, not as bad, but similar.

The most romantic fucking relationship in the show is between Toph and Sokka, there are actually moments where it seems sweet. Not a surprise that Bryke had nothing to do with that pairing, since Korra proves that they're incapable of writing good romance.

Just in case you mistook me for the tumblr post user, I'm not, If I ship anything is firecest, which I know is an impossibility but it has too much porn potential for me not to like it.
>take off the pink glasses and admit that it's against the basics of sensible writing for them to have a relationship
There is a lot of bad writing when it comes to relationships in TLA and Korra (In fact I actually liked they broke up, it fucking showed how petty their relationship periodically got and is a shame they are gonna get back together in the most dumb of ways) but I don't care about it that much, as I care about the way they just shafted many characters who were just left hanging and made the last strech of the book of fire be so dependant of cool action factor(Fuck they even said fuck it to Tophs family plot and only did something about it in the comics, and she was part of the main group).

>bryke don't get to decide what's canon
With this part I disagree.
>they have proved they can't be trusted with their own franchise
With this part I strongly agree.

They said they communicate and listen to fans when writing comics.

Now that the viewership is much smaller and each one buys or not buys (and also recommends/not recommends to friends) new comic book depending on their irrational personal preferences, their voices matter way more than back in the day of the TV series.

...so I guess it's time to start spamming them with spicy Azuko memes

I have nothing to add, I agree.

That will likely just piss them off and they will canonize something spiteful to firecest fans. Better not be greedy and implore them with reasonable arguments on less spicy topics.

korra romances suck also.
a lot of otherwise good writers can't write romance very well. i don't know why.

Why not go blown crazy and pushSokkla.

>the plot demands it.
Biggest problem with Bryke writing, they seem to treat most of the things that happen bettween big events as checkboxes to be filled prior to something happening, then it happens (is like they go "see this little scene? Thats the whoooole justification for this other thing to happen) instead of doing a proggressive slow burn that firmly roots the course of events (like the Zuko arc was)

Wtf is there more

Someday someone will have the balls to paint incest in a non negative light in the mainstream and the chan will have a big laught about it, but be sure that won't be Bryke.

becouse Azuko and Tokka are clearly just better

Now that I spoke out I want to end on an optimistic note.

I think we are all going to positively shit our pants soon from what they are going to do with this verse in the Netflix adaptation.

do you even kyoshi/yue or katorra

how can you push faggotory and feet but somehow be against incest?

But which one would cause more upset to the fan base? That's the real question, user.
Pants will be shat in, but will be of goodwill or fury we'll see.

This has happened to me twice, once on tinder and once on /Soc/ debatably

The first time it happened was this real cute girl who texted me first and thought I was cute for some reason. Got more of her contacts and we went to see aquaman after talking a bit. It was only after that with her that I found online she was with this other guy more frequently and after getting stood up for another date he ended up her boyfriend

The other one well I guess she found someone here and there wasn’t much I could do. You could pin point the point in time where it happened and I was on limited time

Oh yeah? But what if I also ship Toko and Azokka?

Attached: large.jpg (500x536, 252K)

Not him, but I'd call you a friend, user

From fury, I am 99% sure of that. Live action industry is not friendly to the concept of creative freedom and authorial control, even in the best of circumstances. The bigger the budget, the bigger the limiting factors. This one has to have a very big budget.

It's understandable that even if they were incestfags nick would have fucking smithed them if they actually were blatant about it, meanwhile they have always been pretty leniant with feet, just remenber schneider.

it will absolutely be boardwide fury. someone will be re-imagined into being homo and my money is on bisexual katara

Attached: 1528836116208.jpg (500x375, 22K)

Then we'll be shitting in fury together, user.

katara was gay in the beginning, she got her own tale of ba sing se with her gf toph

In other words prepare for AtLA to get the ASoIaF treatment my dudes.

Have another Toko friend

It’s not cucking so why does it hurt all the same

honestly I am not into incest per se I just want to see Zuko bang Azula and having kids with her

Nice.

I'm also not an incestfag but mental healing through getting dicked by the last person that loves you or corruption to assert dominance and gain power are far too good to pass.

This is hilarious. I mean writing and directing-wise.

As for Azula, I have no idea how they are going to pull her off.

Honestly the fire siblings had quite a bit of sexual tension. Especially that damned bedchamber scene. If this were HBO they'd be rutting like Deer in heat.

angry nippon girlfriend

I didn't watch ATLA past book 1 as a youngin and only started rewatching in the last week. Never realized her name is pronounced "May" not "Meye".

The funny thing is, Mai is not a bad character per se. She is kinda flat but you can do a lot with flat, because there is probably a lot going on on the inside, and that she isn't interested in war and politics make her more intriguing because she doesnt seem to have a moral stance. A lot can be written with that.

even in the show Azula gave more of a fuck about Zuko but Mai here is on a whole different level of yikes

>Sukka
it was great though

Yeah, sad she and Ty Lee got pretty much stuck as enforcers and didn't get some time to get fleshed out outside of their roles beyond what little time they had in The Beach.

Fire Nation clothes is mostly Thai and Chinese (of certain dynasty era), plus a bit of Korean.

All the best "relationship" moments in Avatar are the ones that have nothing to do with romance and everything to do with friendship, brotherhood, and camaraderie. That's something Bryke DO know how to write, and they write it very well.

Fuck, the most plausible pairing that comes out of Avatar is Zukaang, and that's not because there's really any gay shit in Avatar. It's because Zuko and Aang's friendship development is actually well written, and it feels like there are genuine feelings of affection between them. It's just not the romantic kind.

>Chinese (of certain dynasty era)
I believe it was Ming.

Fuck off literal faggot

I kinda liked it for how weird their relationship was. But Zuko should have ended up with that cutie from the earth kingdom.

Attached: Jin_with_Zuko.png (200x150, 51K)

Yeah, that and Roku x Sozin, lol.

Exactly. It's not romantic, but it IS genuine feeling, which is more than I can say for any of the actual romance in the show.

Although, I say that, and yet The Firebending Masters does involve Zuko and Aang bonding in a way that culminates in them being surrounded by rainbows.

Attached: firebending-masters.png (855x481, 439K)

If Zuko had some sense he could have invited her to the palace indefinitely.

This is why you don't let Western fans touch anything. I can guarantee you if Bandai gave control of the Digimon to Westerners, Mimato would be canon.

Somewhat unrelated but I don't want to go to Yea Forums, I've started the first book of ASoIaF to see what all the hype is about and it's been incredibly underwhelming so far with characters that feel more like chess pieces than people except for Daenerys when does it get good?

Don't go to Yea Forums, less so to talk about genreshit, the shitposting there bred actual retards and now they can't talk about nothing without getting spammed with pastas and memes, it's just like Yea Forums but with less people.

>characters that feel more like chess pieces than people
What you mean by that?

here is a (You) for a bump
your opinion is still shit tho

>What you mean by that?
The plot and setting influence the characters more than the setting and plot are influenced by the characters, which gives them a feeling of flatness, like they're pieces put into place for a story to work. I'm wondering if there's a 'turning point' in the series where it gets better, like how in ATLA season 2 is considered the turning point where the quality sharply increases.
I'm not halfway through the first book yet but I'm only mildly enjoying what I'm reading, just want to know if the rest of the series is consistent with the start.

What about the shota in zuko alone

Attached: dhlzfblpfwx.jpg (768x622, 83K)

>The plot and setting influence the characters more than the setting and plot are influenced by the characters
For the most part that is how most of he story goes. The characters in ASOIAF aren't really revolutionary world changing heroes, they are just people that have to deal with how their world works, and those that try to be heroes tend to get fucked for trying to go against something far too big and complex for them to overcome on their own.
So yeah, if you expect people that can save the world and make the most people happy this isn't a series for you. At best the "arguably good guys" try and do something they see as good and the result is bleak due to other people meddling to protect their interests.

But hey, if you carry on the series can also be kind of a 20+ characters that go through the equivalent of a "Zuko arc" (it doesn't always end in a positive development for said characters though, you'll see how quickly power affects people like Daenerys and what she can end up becoming)

She's not Jin, Zuko's rightful wife.

Attached: 1489625969790.png (1440x1080, 2.2M)

I always wished the show had had a 4 book that dealt with the post war healing just so we could have little details like re encountering old characters (In particular I always wanted Zuko and Iroh to visit the earth kingdom and take the chance to re visit Song and her mother in conciliatory act both personal and symbolic for the nations) and to give a resolution to hanging subplots like Toph and her parents.

nick says its expensive

Nick can suck my toes since they are so much into feet.

>Get literally spared from getting fucked up.
>I'm going to fuck your bitch and you gotta accept this.
What is this logic?

Didn't Aaron Ehasz say that there were plans for a Book 4? And that it was going to have a redemption arc for Azula?

Yes, he said it on twitter. Sad it never happened and we're stuck with the comics and Korra..

>So yeah, if you expect people that can save the world and make the most people happy this isn't a series for you.
That doesn't bother me and I'm not necessarily looking for a happy ending. I just don't feel myself caring that much about most of the characters or their fates, I expected them to have stronger introductions but I guess it's a slow burn kind of deal. If the point of the story is about the overwhelming nature of the setting then that's fine, I'll just have to get there.

>wife
What are her rates?

Come on user, an earth kingdom peasant can't be the firelord's wife.
A concubine on the other hand...

He said two contradictory things back in 2018 and a couple months ago. And a redemption plan for Azula was his own.
(Which means he understands little of the character he had written in tandem with other people). Azula isnt into remorse, you dont have to be a genius to get that her personality type as described is machiavellian, they are not remorseful.
