Maybe the shape of their nose and physical qualities of their hair/fur, though that’s entirely uncertain. We saw an alt reality Korean Nightwalker and he looked very much like Nightwalker.

A black mutant in Africa may well be just hated by his peers for being so different, and pending where in Africa superstitions might amp that or render the issue moot. Genosha, as a forced labor apartheid state, was more about oppression that hatred of mutants though on a variable scale where both existed. There is no blanket answer to this not affected by the nuance of region and the groups involved and would make for a lovely but infuriating sociology paper.

However the writers want it too? Mutants are presented as a new species but they come from humans. They still are possessed of their base aesthetic qualities for where they’ve come from unless subsumed entirely by things like scales or other technical deformities related to their mutation or powers.
