A good prosthetic can cost between 5k and 50k.
It's also only built to withstand a few years of wear and tear.
That said, a leg is going to be far less complicated of a prosthetic than a hand. You don't need working toes to walk.
A working and functional gripis much harder to emulate and far more expensive than a hand. However, a leg is probably not going to last you as long as an arm or hand will. I guess it depends on the amputation. Below the knee is probably a better prognosis than at the knee or above.
