Last time they addressed his artistic side in the comics was in that Avenging Spider-Man issue where Steve rediscovered his artistic side and after that no writer has really bothered.
In the MCU the only time they showed it was with him drawing himself as a circus monkey and then in Avengers when he's drawing Stark Tower. But yeah after that the Russos really didn't bother that much.
I know Avengers Assemble is mostly shit but there is an episode where Steve is trying to draw a man and he is frustrated and destroys the drawing. Turns out he was trying to draw his father but he couldn't remember his face, it was kind of sad but I liked it.
Oh yeah you read the old Englehart stuff and it's pretty shippy, they also slept in the same room and there's a panel were Steve agonizes thinking Sam will leave him for his then girlfriend Leila.

Nah it's still 5-6 years in the Brubaker comics, IIRC Bucky was 14 when Steve met him. Still their relationship in the comics always had Steve act more fatherly/big brother towards him and Bucky looks up to Steve as his mentor.

To add, if Steve hadn't seen Bucky in the Winter Soldier, triggered his memory on the bridge and spoken to him on the helicarrier later, Bucky would still be a Hydra asset.
In Civil War, when Steve tells Bucky "it's wasn't you" for what Hydra made him do, if people interpret that as "Steve never lets Bucky move on", it's in very bad faith. What was he supposed to say, tell his friend "Hey Buck, yeah, it was all on you"?
Further, Steve would rescue anyone in a position where they're accused of a crime they didn't commit, if it meant he'd save an innocent.
Bucky stans are the ones who make everything Steve does about Bucky.
How much of fan interpretation in fics gets mixed up as canon? I'm not saying you're wrong. Just that it's not the only way to interpret how Steve acts.
I'm glad Bucky didn't get the shield for exactly this reason, to not be pigeonholed as Steve 2.0. He needs to live his life and rest, until he decides if he wants to fight or not.

Hammer moment, yes. I also loved Steve's Hail Hydra, it was Steve thinking on his feet. The ass jokes made me weirded out. It felt like forced fan service.
I think overall, Tony being mad at Steve and not speaking to him for five more years was the part that colored the film as hopeless for me. That tone was set up by the first traumatic scene, Tony yelling at Steve. I wanted them together earlier but then the time skip happened. I'm a sucker for Steve and Tony and this movie made a ton of Stony shippers happy. But it fell flat for me personally.
I was hoping they'd reconcile proper after the fight with Thanos. But no, they had to kill Tony. And after that, they sent Cap on a trip that made no sense for decades.
That's what I mean by shock value I think.
The 70s trip was really neat though. Essentially a Steve Tony comic come to life, with them undercover.
