OG She Ra's Hordak is not monstrous. The Horde are way toned down in OG She-ra compared to their comic and toy debuts, and given comedic personalities.

I'm talking about the OG show genius. Both She-ra cartoons did the same thing to Hordak and the Horde if you actually watched it, made their designs more cartoony and less horrific.

But at least OG hordak was still a creature, yes the toy and minicomics were more monsterous but he wasn’t castrated in the original into fujobait like he is in the reboot

The Horde in Nu She-Ra is quite competent, they're still gaining ground
but Hordak just wants to phone home and ruling the planet isn't his first priority

Eh... It's more like Hordak isn't a joke. The Horde are ostensibly successful conquerors, but half of them are incompetent and the other half let their own personal agendas interfere with their work. Thus far the only reason they've conquered as much as they have is because of how badly the princesses have failed to put up any sort of meaningful resistance. Hordak isn't even really invested in the ground game, he spends all his time trying to create portal tech so he can get back to conquering real planets and not some lame backwater rock with a bunch of magic pastel princesses.

To be fair, almost everyone is dropping spaghetti around Entrapta.

The Horde is almost as much of a joke in the new show as they were in the older one, but they’re slightly more competent and engaging. There’s double crossing and shit in nu She-Ra. Hordak has his silly moments, but he does not fuck around.

The Horde went from Scooby-Doo villains to Sailor Moon villains. They still aren't a real threat, just in a different way.

Not really sure why they took a snorting robot bat man and turned him into some elder god in that series. Seems like they wanted the design...but absolutely nothing else.
