Wait, you mean this hasn't come out yet? I always thought that it either wasn't even a thing at all, or that it had come out long ago. You mean this is still in development?

Close Enough
Pinky Malinky (Which looked like shit anyway so who cares)

iirc they finished but the publisher was no longer interested and are still in search of another one.

Do children really think butts are funny? I feel like I never did, but that cartoons kept telling me that I was supposed to.

No. Butts were never funny. But I attribute my love of butts towards all the curvy ladies in cartoons

They considered doing this? I never heard of it

Disney comes to Yea Forums they knew about the fetish fuel nightmare they had accidentally created.

OH LAWD HE COMIN

There was supposed to be:

The comments are a fucking riot though.

John K is incredibly lazy, this along with him being a pervert made me lose respect for the guy. Which is sad because had he not stuck to gross out, he could've been an amazing animator. Pic related is his Star Trek sketches from the late 80s.

I've only contributed to two Kickstarters, and this is ironically the one I regret less.

Met Eric Powell this year.
He's said it is a slow but steady thing, and still happening.

Which could just be him egging people on to be optimistic, but I mean I remember reading the very Deadpool script that ended up being used almost 8 years before that movie came out.

It looked great, the trailer was perfect

I guess it got canceled for the same reason Newt got canceled: too similar to another movie Blue Sky was making.

>Originally slated for release in 2012, the film was reported as shelved in December 2009. In July, 2010, it was reported by various sources that King of The Elves is back in development and it is being directed by Chris Williams, co-director of Bolt. It was later reported that the production was doing so well that it rivaled Frozen for a 2013 release date. Production eventually stalled due to story problems, and director Chris Williams started helping other current film projects on the side.

>It was later reported that the production was doing so well that it rivaled Frozen for a 2013 release date.

top fucking kek

Not him but a larger than expected number of people within the industry have admitted to at least browsing Yea Forums in some capacity, moreso compared to other interest based boards on the site. There's obviously your fair share of seething autists and /pol/acks that every board has but Yea Forums has nowhere near the controversy or edge that Yea Forums and Yea Forums have accumulated in comparison. As such, I wouldn't put it past Disney at all to have at least some people checking in here time to time.

Obligatory

Attached: Garfields_Judgment_day.jpg (600x373, 148K)

Would you believe me if I told you they had a Discworld movie lined up too? Because they did.

I'd believe it. Think I heard something about Disney wanting to change or omit Death because he wasn't family friendly, and Pratchett pulled out without any further consideration.

>Death because he wasn't family friendly

he was the most endearing Grim Reaper ever. Idiots.

The Eisner age was an interesting one where you simultaneously had Disney's best and classic works revive the company while they also had absolutely brilliant concepts never see the light of day because of business autism. Given how little we know of Disney's future lineup for well, ANY of their divisions, we'll probably figure out if that still holds true at D23.

who's gonna host it now that Lasseter is gone?

Yea Forums is literally the best place on the net to talk about cartoons imo, wouldn't put it past anyone to come here, really.

Khonjin house is still funny though

God dam valve time

Man, TF2 getting an actual series on [as] would've been so good. At least Valve would be doing something instead of fucking around with VR.

Jennifer Lee probably I dunno
As far as films go I don't have high hopes this year. Iger is on his way out soon but these next ones were greenlighted while he was head honcho so I'm expecting more sequels from WDAS. As far as Pixar goes I'm only really excited for Onward because Chris Pratt and Tom Holland sound like wonderful leads for such a film. It's hard to get excited when these studios have gotten staler and staler.

I hope they've learned something after their dumb ass card game

>Do children really think butts are funny?
Yes.

I really hope so too. Literally no one wanted it.

he's delusional

probably gone

nobody seriously considered doing it; Fincher seems to have bought into it somehow, but Powell retains so much creative control - over casting, over the minutiae of editing and directing and producing - that nobody wants anything to do with it

investing in it would be like investing in Food Fight after the original footage was lost: there's clearly a crazy man with 0 experience running things, you will not get anything out of it but poorer

which is why they had to have a Kickstarter just to fund an animatic (again, a weird choice because Powell - since Fincher isn't insane and has experience of making movies, but then again I suppose has no experience of how animation works, and so may have gone along with it without asking questions - insisted that to pitch the movie to studios they needed to produce the entire thing as an animatic, with voicework

that was like five, six years ago

it ain't happening

Yes. But no way it could've fly past of the censors without being nuttered into oblivion

The idea that Disney cares about accidentally encouraging degenerates after basically inventing furries is hilarious.

>Canceled or in Development Hell

This wasn't about Khonjin house. It was about Supermental, a series that didn't even made it to 5 episodes before being dead in the water.

speaking of CG Animation Tests:
youtu.be/TsMPd2ceiFA

It's still related to Khonjin House since that had buildup for Supermental.
The kickstarter looked promising, but he wasn't able to get a demo out by the end of the funding period so he cancelled it.
but then shortly afterwards he felt dissatisfied with the original plans for Supermental and after leaking the intended plot he scrapped it and started over. This also meant going through all the original Khonjin House episodes and removing references to Supermental (along with cutting out jokes he didn't think were funny anymore or would get him in trouble with Youtube).
And then you had the allegations being thrown back and forth. Connor Lavery was planned to be a guest on the Pizza Party Podcast but after the drama started they changed their mind.

Attached: 1457761230030.png (359x237, 28K)

Nah, it was just a pitch that never went any farther than that.

He's an incredible artist, but a scumbag with a horrific work ethic. Damn shame.

The fuck ever happened to this?

Attached: Red-Shoes-The-7-Dwarfs.jpg (384x576, 23K)

A real bummer. Either Way, that series was killed off and sadly we never got at least a third ep. aw well. hopefully in a few years he'll try to present it better. and treat his animators better.
i still dislike how they made pent a tranny though.

What's the source for that anyway?
Was it part of the big leak he did?

Probably got dumped on the cutting room floor.

yeah, apparently.
here's the sauce
>pastebin.com/K8mccajG
spoiler is what i recall of him being trans from it
he apparently goes through this weird phase where his mind is being occupied with the concept of shelby and smack enters his mind and destroys it. shit goes south and pent forgets who he is and also he transitions by falling into a volcano.
i just think it would have been decent/better if they just left it to him having a dead girlfriend. maybe have her be a ghost or something but connor just making him trans out of nowhere just feels like he's pandering to the tumblr crowd.
( i mean, no surprise there if it was true, considering he used to ran a blog over there. twice. )

Worlds of DC is better idea now.

Attached: imokwiththis.jpg (500x276, 39K)

Still being advertised so probably late this year or early 2020.

I suppose perfectionism? I mean TF2's humor is very dependent on Robin's writing and the VAs far as I know. Plus having it outsources would look too cheap compared to how good the animation for all the Meet the Shorts are.

That and honestly stuff made by content creators are good enough for me.

>Being worked on sporadically from 1979 to 1986, the film's development and production had difficulties which finally prompted the film being abandoned before completion. The Works would have been the first entirely 3D CGI film had it been finished in the early 1980s as intended. This goal was later accomplished by Pixar's Toy Story, released in 1995, nearly a decade after The Works was attempted.

Oh, 80's. Never stop being ultra-capitalist.

So what would the post revival era be called?

I questioned if this would be another 1-season thing anyway

Dark Sequel Era of Despair

I think after Ratchet and Clank underperformed Sony pulled the plug

Looks like the animation would have been very fitting for a late 90s or very early 2000s short. Experimental but very impressive for the time.

Yeah I think that's what happened. I also heard that it was supposed to be retooled into a tv series done by the sonic boom team.

Disney’s “Newt” was retooled as “Inside Out”

this was retooled into Emperor's New Groove

Attached: Kingdom of the sun teaser poster.jpg (500x744, 91K)

At least one of the songs "Snuff out the light" was on the official soundtrack.

I recall there was a huge behind the scenes drama for this film. Got retooled a couple of times

It's weird to think that the corporatized version of this story likely ended up garnering more love and praise from people than the original likely ever would. On one hand yeah, it would have been great to have another traditional Disney classic but I still have a great love for what we got. It's such a unique film compared to the rest of Disney's lineup and it's pretty damn funny to boot.

Agreed, it's one of my favorites.

>Newt
>Inside Out
What does one have to do with the other?

happens all the time

Maui movie wasn't evevnsupposed to have a princess, they added Moana later and wrote the story around her.

Fix it Felx was supposed to be the protagonist of Wrech it Ralph. Cowboy Woody was a huge dick to Buzz. and so on.

Attached: index.jpg (281x179, 12K)

At least he wasn't bitter about it
>didn't get approached for it
>said everyone should go see it anyway instead of protesting
>if it does well it may lead to an animated series or another game in which they may approach him for one of those
I should listen to his podcast again someday...

He's got his wired crossed somewhere, all I know is that Newt was cancelled due to Blue Sky's Rio being released first.

Check out the documentary "The Sweatbox" which details the production of the movie. It was made by Sting's wife, and never saw official public release as Disney did not want the bad rep. It's apparently available on Youtube however

According to Pixar, Newt as an idea "wasn't working in pre-production" and Blue Sky releasing Rio was the last straw. Peter Doctor was reassigned to steer the project back on course, but agreed the idea would no longer worked and pitched his own idea that became Inside Out

Stuff like that makes me even more curious to wonder what the hell went on with Gigantic to warrant just dropping it altogether for the time being. On paper it seemed really hard to fuck up, WDAS already took a classic fairy tale and added their own twist THREE different times this era (Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen) all of which were considered great successes critically, commercially, or both. Gigantic didn't look like it would be much different from that formula at all. We can speculate or joke all we want about fetish shit being the reason the film got the axe, but c'mon people it's fucking Disney. The amount of fetishes they've birthed both directly and indirectly are too numerous to manage, you seriously think THIS of all films was too far for them? I think some serious shit went on behind the scenes if they couldn't somehow get THIS to work and would literally rather make two different sequels (Something previously reserved for their cheapo direct to video business) than work on a film that by all accounts should have been their bread and butter.

That’s simple; it got canceled because BFG flopped.

Why does that stupid shit with a quick closeup turning to red always crack me up?

Attached: 1465852317725.jpg (246x290, 26K)

It already came out in South Korea, user. As for international release, dunno.

Is the Gorillaz show still happening?

That would be about right. Pixar's still in a funk of their own.

goddammit I want this so bad now

they're done. just merge fully with disney.

How does a book adaptation film have any impact on an old fairy tale getting the Disney treatment?

remember Mars Needs Moms flopping?

Bullshit, it's not like BFG just cornered the market on every single giant movie ever made. It wasn't even memorable enough to do that. We're comparing the generally consistent work of modern day WDAS to a senile old man who now only makes a half decent film once in a blue moon. Of course it's always possible since you never know with these Hollywood execs but I highly doubt it. Besides, it was well known it was having problems even before BFG released.

Please say no. No one wants gorillaz anymore

Nexus really would have made a great show.

Good, they need to start fresh and clean from Zack Snyder's shitty directing.

It's been 5 years since the teaser trailer

they wont even include carmelita in the show

Does china just have bad luck with their animation studios in general? The guys behind that 童話聯盟 (Children's Fairytale Alliance) video ended up dissolving somewhere in 2014-2015 despite having a few projects up their sleeves supposedly.

>T. Sting

So it did get canned. At least they tried with this one, animation actually looked nice too.

When they still haven't started the reshoots?

After Ratchet and Clank bombed I wouldn't be surprised that they quietly shelved this. What's with modern games movies coming out years after their respective IPs lose their momentum? Like that WoW movie that should have been released at least half a decade earlier.

mobile.twitter.com/dukelovesyou/status/1008221646379999232

Yep, straight down the drain. Some sites report that they were planning on making it a 52 episode series, including Ciwen Animations now debunk main site that can only be seen on internet archives. A few other pages claim it was going to be a film.
Damn shame, it seemed like it could have been loads of fun.
Pic related is the proto-designs from 2013.

I'm not gonna lie, this looks awful. I don't get what the hype about American Dog was. It really feels like people only care about it because it turned into Bolt.

Could have actually stood out from China's usually crappy cgi fest animations. What a shame.

Just put this on a streaming service. It's Brando's last role, what do they have to lose?

It gets pulled from YT alot

But someone uploaded a copy to vid.me years ago and then uploaded that to archive.org, and it hasn't been taking down from the latter in years

It could just be because the subject matter was too similar to BFG for them to release it after seeing how poorly that did at the box office.

So glad Klaus got picked up by netflix, I was worried that we'd never get more than a trailer

Looking at this I was gonna ask, what ever happened to that movie with fat snow white? Seems it's the same one. Didn't they start advertising it fucking years ago?

Simple. They're a gambit to get attention back on the dying franchises.

What was the name of that animated series where the main character was a raccoon with a robo-suit and the main villains were set to be Kevin Michael Richardson and Tony Jay? Detroit something?

This was the issue of Animation Magazine it was featured in, btw.

I thought it came out

supposedly it was in post production but were shutdown by nick/viacom prior to finishing. the creator was looking at suing over it.

as long as it was a parody. it was kinda painful to watch, it "took inspiration" from space ghost? no it was pretty much ripping off all of Hanna-Barbera's old superhero cartoons

Looks like it's gonna be five since her new series was promised a year ago.

Source? I didn't have a chance to read about it.

Did Wreck-It-Ralph 2 replace it? If so, that's pretty dissapointing.

Still sad.

Wasn't that long ago, hopefully it's just a delay and maybe she'll comeback.

What's this? Looks like it's in the Hercules font.

Lauren Faust was going to make a movie centered around Medusa and other greek monsters but she quit the project and now looks like the whole thing has been shelved.

Aw shucks I like Greek mythology stories, especially since I have Greek ancestry too. Aw well hopefully something similar gets made.

Original Zootopia was going to be kino. Such shame.

Sanders and Lasseter had two different visions for the movie.

Can't believe it's finally coming out.

It seems like they just didn’t want to put out another Tangled/Frozen (at least without the convenient branding of a sequel) and couldn’t come up with something outside of that box.

That was confirmed to have been made just for the toyline.

Mulan took its place in the schedules. Next Disney original animation is going to be hispanic with LMM doing the music again.

Really liked the first one, thought is was more creative than Coco.

Only disliked that it kinda shat on the live rival just for being a soldier and the female lead being pointlessly 'badass'

I'm glad this one avoided this fate

Jorge's doing his space western for Netflix first.

its the better 'pets' movie from illumination

I'd still like to know what in Sam Hill makes this the most expensive cartoon ever made. Surely it's just the cast right? I can't imagine the animation being anything beyond really, really well done tweens a la Tangled's show (Which keep in mind is probably nothing short of a small fortune either.)

>Surely it's just the cast right?
I think it's a combination of cast but also frame-by-frame animation rather than tweens judging from the promo pic and teaser trailer.

Attached: 1446875809141.png (1072x1712, 419K)

It's frame by frame? I thought the promo pic gave off a tween model vibe for everybody. Guess we'll see then.

Im still fucking mad

Don't worry user! There's always a few decades from now when it'll get retooled into an objectively worse project. I'm still hoping for a surprise D23 announcement that it's back, but it's all in vain. Feels bad (;___;)

I don't think tween animation would cost five to six million dollars per episode.

Fair enough, but having Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton in every episode probably doesn't help either.

>50 Million Dollar Movie
>217.8 Million at the Box Office Revenue
The Emoji Movie didn't bomb, in fact the Emoji movie made more than Laika's last three films combined on a lower budget. Let that sink in.

I'm so happy this never came out. It would have tainted the brand and it would suck. 80s cartoons are usually horrible, not to mention that it would make people link Alien with a kids show

I thought of one but I forgot it.

How about the Scrooge McDuck animated short (intended as his animation debut) written by his creator Carl Barks. Ended up in development hell because Disney hates fun.

Why the fuck does that have anything to do with it? I'd say there's no hope anymore because he already made that abomination Billy Dilley and there's no turning back.

>Tangled
>Frozen
>Gigantic
End this meme

Imagine if they made a "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" adaptation for Disney+

Was there supposed to be a series out of this? I remember there being a movie.

The movie was meant to be a pilot for a 26 episode half hour series and the production company still lists it as being in development on their website but nothing's come out about it.

Pan mentioned it on the last episode of his podcast and I kinda hope he or another cartoon youtuber makes a video on it so that there's interest raised to find out what happened to the planned show.

GOTTA WATCH SHIT MOVIES IRONICALLY XD

They'll rework this movie and instead of Jack being bullied by a girl; Just will be changed into a boy, go up to the clouds, and have to be hidden by a milf giantess/Tomboy oneesan.

Screencap this.

Yeah, a miniseries would probably be the best way to go, with 1 ep for each chapter. Disney could do it whenever they want since they already own the full rights. But Rosa would be fucking pissed for sure if they adapted it.

>Ankama has done absolutely zero advertising for it.
Par for the course really.

As long as the films themselves are enjoyable I don't really care what their names are but the adjective naming convention for their princess films has been pretty trite at this point.

and now he's stuck with that horrifying flash series

Hell, a movie about food items that swear and fuck made a bigger profit than Laika's last three films combined.

After 16 years of Development hell this movie came out.
I was already happy it came out and I didn't expect anything. It was not Kino, but I didn't care about that. The story was nice enough.

Attached: Heinz the Movie.jpg (800x1143, 212K)

Heinz walks on street. Fishman ask him to pay his debts. Heinz tells a story why he didn't have the money now and escapes. Heinz girlfriend ask Heinz friend Frits to look after Her and Heinz child because she goes to paintball camp with friends and she thinks Heinz is too irresponsible to look after child. A spaceship crashes on the palace on the dam and some strange things happened afterwards. Heinz awoke the next morning on a tropical island not knowing whats he does there and without his child. I watched it it was okay, I wish it was darker though. what's the point of making an independent film if you are going to end up repeating disney formula?

The cancelled Disney adaptation of Chanticleer is a very notable one. Both this and Sword in the Stone were in development around the same time, and Walt cancelled Chanticleer in favor of SitS for numerous reasons including how he didn't think a rooster would make for a great protagonist. Personally I think he made a mistake here considering how SitS is one of the least popular films in the entire animated canon despite being made during Walt's lifetime.

Many elements of this would be re-used in the later Robin Hood adaptation.
