So everyone is drawing weird charts and stuff but this is literally the most simple of all possible time travels.
Everything you do when you’re in the past creates a branch reality. Nothing you do in that past changes your present. Removing the infinity stones from a timeline, using them in yours, and then immediately returning them prevents that timeline from branching with the infinity stones missing.
2014 Thanos’ death creates an alternate 2014 where Thanos died in 2014. Captain America lived out a long and fulfilling life in an alternate past, then returned to the prime timeline.

No, moron, they can go back to the exact same branch timelines because they're not rewriting their own personal history when doing it. You can't affect anything that you perceived as the past, but as long as you drop into the branch timeline after you left it, it's the same branch timeline.

Except Ego can't destroy the universe if the Guardians don't form. Ego only finds out that Quill is his son because of Quill interacting with the Power Stone, and without Quill, he can't enact his plan. No guardians, no dance-off, no family reunion.

I like yours better because it makes Cap look less like of a dick. Like the Russos want me to believe Cap went to abandon the original Peggy from the original timeline to fuck another one from the alternative universe timeline and comeback just to gloat and pass it on to Sam? So basically Cap fucked a clone of the original while the original died alone and confused. At least a loop would have been less heart breaking.
